You're talking about the guy with the shotgun who's perspective we're watching right? I thought it was strange how he's the one who was calling out that it was a cane and then you can clearly hear him shooting and then racking his shotgun twice AFTER saying it was a cane lol. So that means even the dude who said it was a cane was shooting so i think it was more of a "if one shoots, then everybody's shooting" scenario than a "mistake", which is just a trash thing to train officers to do tbh.
@@thekamotodragon Yes but there are such things as "Cane Guns" so he is still possibly a threat by pointing it at the officers. Although I doubt that thought even went through the cop's mind and he just wanted in on the action so he can get his paid leave while they investigate the shooting. In my opinion that was a bad shoot on his part and he should be charged for it. The others may or may not have known it was a cane.

It's very sad. For everyone. People think the police are corrupt and looking for a fight and want to kill somebody everyday when just the opposite is true. I don't hide the fact that I'm an ex cop. Sometimes you're forced into a situation where you have to do what you don't want to do. He set in motion what happened once he slammed into the patrol car and went straight at the deputy. I'm disabled now and I walk with a cane. A cane can look like a rifle or shotgun quite easily. It didn't have to be this way.

Cops are poorly trained when It comes to weapons and confrontations. This guy did not have to get shot. Even if he had a gun, which he didn't, he could still have been taken into custody. @@RMcCoy-fb4rs I am specifically speaking about the moments right before they shot this guy. The officers had the luxury of 100% cover. They were in no real danger of being shot by this guy, even if he had a gun in his hand, (which he didn't). If properly trained, from a position of cover, you can shoot to disarm, which Is what I would have chosen but only after a weapon was pointed in my direction. @@bigdripjoshuacontrolsthewa5358 I'm fairly certain it was a different officer who shot him. That is what it says in the description for this video as well. Will be interesting to see what else is revealed as the investigation continues. With recent mass shootings one right after the other I'm sure police are especially on edge right now. I'm sorry this man died but he appears to have made up his mind that that would be his last day on earth.
The officer who opened fire against the suspect was in his right to do so. This man was violent, had guns, wasn't cooperating, uses his vehicle as a weapon and then he reaches into his vehicle where he has guns. That's an easy way to get shot. Note: The officer who opened fire did not hear this man say that it was a cane. He just heard someone say that he was reaching into his vehicle.
This is why watching and listening to these hard to watch videos is important. The title of even this video could frame someone to think about what happened as a bad shoot without a second thought till you look at everything in context. Still a horrible situation.
It is bad to shoot someone after someone tells you it's a cane. It's worse to still be shooting them more after they have told you it's a cane 3 or 4 times.
Secondly it’s illegal to shoot at a fleeing suspect even if it’s to disable his vehicle he shot at that tire before the vehicle is in motion towards him so it’s not self-defense.
The same officer that yelled “It’s a cane” also told the other officers “He has firearms in the truck”. It would seem to me that the guy was looking to be shot.

Don't know. Wasn't there. Sad day for a lot of people. 30 years ago, near my rural home, a car purposely crossed into the path of a fully loaded dump truck, both traveling about 50 mph. It's sad enough to want to die but forcing someone else to assist is so wrong. Those cause permanent suffering on those involved. May each one find mercy in God's sight.
My mother had a guy in a wheelchair roll in front of her too kill himself… sad; he failed and his life sucked before he was hit and thrown across 3 lanes of traffic into a park.
There's probably going to be an atheist that just has to point out the fact that you would even mention God so lemme do that before they do. God bless these people 🙏🙏
I think that’s partially the point. This seem to be more common among people likely to feel unaccomplished or underachieved. When people contemplate their death they want to feel connected to the world they’re leaving. This is a way for their death to be forever connected to other people, meaning in their head their death mattered more. It’s not correct, but that’s the mentality
Next town over to me has a good rural road with train tracks nearly parallel. At the point they cross the road has a downhill straight into a large stone wall bridge abutment, the underpass is a 90° right then left chicane. The whole time they are waiting on "someone with less lethal", I'm just wondering why doesn't every single unit that's out on the roads, have less lethal in the car? So many videos I've seen where the officers are trying to find someone with less lethal, and the person ends up dead. If they can hand every cop a pistol to carry at all times, which is fine it can absolutely be necessary, they can absolutely carry less lethal options as well.
why else, because they enjoy murdering anyone they have a chance to open fire on, look at the POS who was giving him the verbal commands. The guy who shouted cane right before the officers opened fire also appeared to discharge his shotgun a number of times. Why would he do that knowing it was a cane?
Perhaps a moment of self-doubt? Shots were heard from his comrades, and in turn, he fired to with the idea being that maybe he made a mistake and the other officers identified the so called "cane" as an actual gun and so they shot first and he followed up in response. Just my guess.

He (the cop from the bodycam) opened fire after another officer started shooting, after having told the other officers it was a cane for a second time. That really does seem to be another example phenomena where if one cop opens fire, they all do, to ensure no one can be exactly sure who killed the target. I could be wrong but I see no other valid reason why the cop the body cam footage is taken from would open fire after all of that like he did. Another very sad case of mental health issues resulting in violent suicidal actions. With someone in a truck like that, that has already almost run over a cop, the options are severely limited, but once he is out of the truck, and some of the cops realise he is acting suicidally, surely the non lethal options get deployed first, right?
Ballistics can confirm who's shot hit where. There could be numerous lethal shots which causes confusion, but often it is determined who's shot struck the vital organs.

You are obviously missing alot. In this situation, they knew he had guns and officers get killedc every day because they hesitate.
The guy should've just put his hands up and not reach something because cops can get killed because of people deceiving them 😬
So, for a cop, if one of your officers is firing at a suspect and you don’t have a clear perfect visual of their hands then you can assume one of the other cops saw a gun or saw a direct threat to human life. You have to trust in your fellow officers, even though it can sometimes lead to human error.

They did not such thing!! They all pre- determined to take him out
He (the cop from the bodycam) opened fire after another officer started shooting, after having told the other officers it was a cane for a second time.
Maybe when the other police fired he thought he misidentified the weapon.
Could be that he assumed he was wrong about it being a cane since officers to his right, with a better angle, opened fire.
You can hear him radio in for non lethals in the first 5 mins but I don’t think anyone at that scene had any other than taser which wouldn’t work from that far away.
