Snipers are pretty common in residential/suburban areas in situations like this. Growing up in my old neighborhood circa 2003 there was a house across the street that always seemed to have some sketchy stuff going on every week or so. Cars would come and go in the middle of the night, people running up the driveway into the garage and immediately leaving, etc. So it was obviously some kind of drug operation. One afternoon there was an altercation that resulted in someone being taken hostage inside the house (a pizza delivery driver, if I remember correctly) and tactical was called on scene. I was in middle school at this time and I was just coming off of the school bus which dropped me off usually a block away from my house, and once I approached I could see multiple cop cars and a SWAT van parked on our street half a block away. From what I'm told, there was a sniper perched on the roof of my family's shed in our back yard. No shots rang out fortunately, they were able to flood the house with gas and take in the suspect without any casualties, but that was a pretty scary afternoon! The cops were pretty nice too, they offered me a ride to my aunt's house down the street since I wasn't able to get to my house behind the barricade. After that, the sketchy activity dropped significantly and we didn't have to worry as much.

It's terribly unfortunate that this man has a firearm in that moment. I don't know if he was having some sort of reaction, or if he was really sick, or if he was just crazy, but having that gun totally changed the dynamic. Turned an attempt to help him into the end of his life. Sad.
Unfortunately he shouldn't have one but it was more than likely illegally obtained due to some of the other details in this case. It wasn't a legal gun owner.
For the people who didn't understand why he got shot : "The SWAT team used a chemical agent in an attempt to coerce the suspect out of his apartment. The suspect responded by shooting his firearm out his window, at which time an officer shot him..." It's in the description...

They tried to help him, They gave him an apartment and all of the services for free and still addiction and mental illness took over in the end. Some people are just too far gone and that's the big issue. We have to get mental illness and addiction when they are young before you are 20-30 years deep into and addiction that develops into hearing voices and mania. God rest his soul
Conventional situations only need conventional solutions. This situation the individual was in could have used some more in depth grounding techniques. Things are happening fast, he was hearing voices "in his head", or misinterpreting sounds from all the commotion. The goal would have been to focus his senses onto a single task. Trying to legibly hear multiple voices, with pain from chemical gas, with the sight of men who may change your entire life, is not grounding, but quite the contrary. - in this situation, though the responding force didi not have the equipment, after the suspect pulled a gun, could have been tranquilized instead of gassed with pain.
The mental health excuse is a dead end. Sure, people are crazy, deviant, nuts, but there is no system that can change that. Most nutcases are not violent people and most violent people are not really nuts, just immoral.

You will be in constant danger. You will have to use your service weapon, and no it doesn't feel good like when you cheese the enemy team in Modern Warfare. It hurts you deep when you kill someone and you spend a good part of your life wondering what you could have done differently, regardless of "it was your duty" or not. Most times you use your service weapon as an officer, its not against a rabid serial criminal. It's against a human being who is going through a very serious mental health crisis. What a really sad incident for all involved. If only he could've gotten the help he deserved before this. Mental health needs to start being a priority in this country.
I think a lot of people don't realize just how badly mental health is discouraged in this country. It's actually insane that seeking help physically from a doctor for an injury is completely fine but the second you go to a "shrink" you are automatically some crazy person who needs to be avoided and looked down upon. Especially when it comes to parents with children who VERY obviously display disturbing and concerning signs and behavior at a very young age and then choose to ignore it, then that child ends up becoming the next school shooter or bundy etc. crazy how people can just let these things slide or look down on those who just want help.
I think I actually like these bodycam videos! I really didn't think I would, but it's pretty cool to see a cop's daily life from his / her point of view! Awesome! :D
Yeah tell that to the families in Texas who lost loved ones kids, because cowards like you and the other yellow belly scumbags would rather stand in the hallway, instead of taking the fight to the threat and eliminate it.
If they were wall peaking and leaning it would make the guy way more anxious. They were trying to get him to relax and come out peacefully until they saw the gun. But you're right it's not exactly the safe way for the officers.

We have to get mental illness and addiction when they are young before you are 20-30 years deep into and addiction that develops into hearing voices and mania. God rest his soul
That was their goal all along
No, we need to train our police on how to deal with severe mental illness, and invest into non-lethal ways to disarm them
Conventional situations only need conventional solutions.

The cops desperately tried using their non-lethal tactics (the chemical agent grenades) but the suspect had no intention of complying. The cops need more non-lethal options because yes this was really sad
@@pyrotechnick420 🇺🇸🖕God bless USA. 😔
They'd make me angrier to be honest. That guy on the loudspeaker was treating him like a child
No idea how to handle it any better, but that wasn't the right way. Maybe they could contain him in the building and hope he cools off? Sounds expensive.
@@carboncollapse8435 you act like they just pulled up there and started throwing gas around, they only started after seeing a gun in his hand, and clearly gave him time after that too.
@@carboncollapse8435 you know they don't just show up at crazy people's houses and start harassing them right? Cops get called because they're hurting the public or their loved ones, then when they get there what are they supposed to do? Let a guy who is destroying his apartment, yelling and screaming and waving a gun around leave free? What would you being saying if Laron's psychotic episode was allowed to continue and he walked out into the street and started shooting innocent people?
It’s hard when you have someone who is psychotic and also has a firearm. He really needed medical intervention but once he started firing out the window then you have to do something. He should never have been allowed to have a gun to begin with.
THAT USA for you Cannot mess with Gun Laws mean What laws just KILL KILL one SICK Country
and who said he obtained it legally?
@@Alckee it’s not like he manufactured the gun himself. at some point, another human had to allow laron to be in possession of a firearm. shouldn’t have been the case.
@@infinitedelete too easy in LA county, especially in LA itself, if you have money and connections you can get anything
@@Alckee who said anything about whether he got it legally or illegally. Fact is he had one
The feeling of a high caliber bullet ripping through your body before you realize what happened is terrifying, only split seconds after it’s happened.
Good job to the officers and the team
They tried everything. Too many lives as risk to allow him to continue to live. They simply had to put him down. It sucks he had issues, but the more unfortunate issue was that he got his hands on a gun...and since he wouldn't give it up, there was simply too much risk to innocents for them to do anything but put him down.
Honestly it was a very good example of excellent police work. They did everything they could to deescalate and try to get it resolved without violence but there was nothing they could do.
he really seemed to be out of his mind. calling out random names and other unknown language.
yep, unfortunately he was armed and barricaded so they had no other choice than to use lethal force
@@Immortal_BP > he was armed and barricaded so they had no other choice than to use lethal force
That wasn't why they used lethal force. Watch it again.

Just dope how the local officers, Special Tactics, and snipers were stationed around the perimeter and honestly one of the best vids I’ve seen. Inspiring😭😭😭
Future citizen murderer in the making eh? Ftp

When you see a crazy man die, you find that "inspiring"? Pretty crazy choice of words there.
@@lambdaman3228 i think its inspiring cuz one day ima help kill the crazy men!
What does it inspire you to do? Shoot the mentally ill, presumably?
