Personally I enjoy these "small" builds more than big room build ones just because they inspire me to start making myself. Big projects can be intimidating, but this is perfect to get that feeling of achievement.

I wish I could get my hands on all those CRT monitors and TV's that I took out in the bush and shot at....I cringe when I think of all the parts and pieces I could have used. Awesome Prop and very inspiring! Great Job!
That is quite the work of art. Your attention to detail and ability is amazing. One thing I might note. I understand that this contraption is supposed to have that 'used' look, but the camera lens itself looks absolutely filthy. Of all the parts of a hologram unit, the lens should be kept pristine to make it look convincing. I know it's tough to find a good one and it's great that your friends helped out. Again, wonderful work! I wish you all the best. .
Awesome build! I saw the updates through Instagram and FB...the images were breathtaking and I was like "Oh, holograms...that's a thing now for DIY...?" Yet again, I am like some builders are crazy ahead of the DIY curve and you are among them. I really liked the walkthrough of the cables and Arduino function.
Awesome video! I learn so much from these. Now I need to go make one. LOL. A suggestion, maybe try Wago connectors. I find that they are much easier to work with than wire nuts and electrical tape. Also if you are using different colored tiles, use the same color LED as that tile. It will make that color brighter, especially if it is diffused to much. Again, love the video and thanks for making them.
I do have to admit I'm not a big Star Wars fan but but but I love your videos they're quite informative and I do do props myself more on post-apocalyptic and the knowledge that I've learned from you guys really up to my prop so keep them coming you doing a great job and I do have a couple Star War trinkets stay safe my friends
LOL!!! So, i'll tell you something. This lens has been through some stuff, and there was so much dust up inside. The biggest issue is that I could not take it apart without damaging it. Trust me, the dust inside was driving me insane! Apparently this specific lens from the factory was sealed in a way that there was no mechanical connection that would release it so I could clean it. I even went as far as researching the manufacture and going through old install manuals. no luck. If these are damaged in the field (when they were still used that is) you had to replace the entire board. Crazy huh?

great prop!!! for adding the final touch, try to find the Hologram 3 3/4"' star wars figures from the vintage collection, they did Darth Maul, Ki Amun Di, Aayla Secura and Obi Wan from the Hologram scene from Rebels , put them in the lenses and you have the hologram figure!

If you get the chance to add a battery pack, I would try to fit it too the outside. It's missing some greeblification.. if that makes sense. Mayby with a custom paintjob. That the batterys are leaking. Something that was add on after the fact. Overall I enjoyed it very much.
So glad you enjoyed it. We’ll likely add a battery soon. I was trying to keep the outside a bit clean so it will stack well with other cases, but we’ll see.
perhaps you want to try using one of those cheap LCD screens/ HDMI board combos and tear out the black metal panel and black light and use stronger led to backlight it, if you stick it all close enough to the bottom portion of the lens it shows project an actual image much like it does when it's in the projector tv.
Would have been cool if you made the Lid Instructions glow like those glass holograms from stores, this thing without it though is so frickin cool still.
You’ve done it again, my friend. Another amazing build. I was just thinking, I wish they made a matte clear acrylic. That would have been perfect for the instruction panel. I’m thinking the surface texture of the matte black, but still clear. I know they make frosted and translucent, but I don’t want that. Also, why don’t we have real holograms yet? When I was a kid I was promised holographic projections, and flying cars, before now. I feel cheated. I want real, high res, holographic projections from this box.

There is yhis company called Voxon Photonics that have built the closest things to a Hologram that I believe is possible. You should check it out.
