As a Brit, I kind of like the idea of taking time to remember what we're thankful for. Thank you for the video, sharing skills is important, but sharing ethos, that is something wonderful.
I chuckled when you said that the Galaxy's Edge park was awesome because of the ambient way much more than the rides. Because it is TRUE!!!! The rides were cool and all, but we just spent hours after hours simply looking at the amazing creativity and execution put into transforming that chunk of Disney into a truly out of this world experience. I remain in awe to this day...
Agreed! We were there a year ago September. Spent 3 days in the park. 2 1/2 of those days were in GE. The rides were great, but the atmosphere and the ambiance was on another world “literally”. We took thousands of pictures of just the awesomeness of GE. From the Star Wars characters spawning from random spots to the fine details that we’re hanging in the ceiling of the shops. The SW universe details were on another level of cool. There were no lack of cool project ideas floating around in GE, there were so many random bits of awesome geekiness there, my head still explodes from it!
I needed this today. I have Spina Bifida, so my spine will randomly stop working. I'm building my Flux Capacitor but have had to take a lot of breaks today. It's okay to take projects a little at a time.
My first trip to Disneyland was on May the 4th. I only left Galaxy's Edge long enough to get a mac & cheese hotdog at Refreshment corner. The only ride I rode all day was Smugglers Run. I played on the datapad and explored Batuu the whole day.
Your kits look totally awesome! If I can swing it, I'd totally like to pick one up... Just gotta fit in into my dumb "adult responsibility" budget! lol
I had the pleasure of finally getting toGalaxy's Edge (In Orlando) earlier this year and I too was blown away by all the incredible things they did to make it so amazing. The signs, the crates, the hanging wires, the tattered banners, not to mention the battered ships and all the glorious painting and weathering! And don't get me started on seeing The Falcon! I want to go back just to spend a day taking more pictures of everything and to soak up all the amazing attention to detail.
100%!! we had the actual chance to spend a couple of days while we were there and one of them. We just literally hung out the entire day at Galaxy edge it was amazing.
Much like you I was just at Disneyland about 2 weeks ago and was there mostly for the SW environment though I did go on both rides because they weren't busy (surprise!). The control panels are definitely cool. I want to put electric door locks on my house and have been thinking I'll make up SW type control panels. Have any tips on outdoor materials to use for builds? Thanks for sharing! Or, better yet, how about you do an outdoor build? A theme based light, or control panel that's just for aesthetics or whatever???
@@TheSmugglersRoom Woo hoo, I sparked an idea! Plastics and aluminum come to mind but it's certainly harder to work with and adds some expense. Always a trade off and things to ponder. :-) Looking forward to hearing / seeing what you come up with.
In the tradition of Star Wars start with an off the shelf outdoor electrical box. They’re great for things like this and they’re already made for the outdoors.
I discovered your channel through you VanOakes collaboration last month, and have watched dozens of videos so far. I absolutely love your style of building and you have inspired me to start collecting greebles from old electronics. I’ve been trying to redesign my 2*4 and plywood ladder shelves I built years ago for my Star Wars Lego ships and fossil collection. I want something enclosed to keep the pet hair and dust out, while illuminating the ships in a diorama type display. I while trying to brainstorm ideas, I ended up making a digital Star Wars poster out of an old LCD TV I got for free. Now I have a strong urge to turn my black PC into an empire droid. I’ve been making Halloween props for years, and now I’m inspired to make a Star Wars office.
Awesome video and I am proud to say I participated in your Black Friday Sale. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to say how thankful I am for you and this channel. Thank you for helping to start and guide this community of imagination and creativity. Happy Holidays to you both.
You always bring something to the table that is inspiring and exciting to do. These panels are neat ideas! We are thankful for what we learn from your channel. Thanks so much for what you do! ❤
Cool stuff again my friend. Just an idea to got with small easy projects you presented, what about a small simple light switch cover? 3 cutout layers, couple 2-3 leds and couple greeblies. easy peasy.
Another awesome video to take in over my morning coffee! I really needed this video today, Brian. I'm neck deep in a kitchen reno that has gone way off the rails with more fixes needed at every turn. A dozen other things have needed to be band-aided (is that a word? It is now!) around the house at the same time. Work has been both slower and more hectic than at any other time this year. You get the idea. I've been struggling to find a way back to my own project. I think I'll take a little time over the course of the holiday weekend to at least address one or two small pieces of the puzzle though.
I feel your pain! When home projects and work collide it can really drag you down. Hang in there! We hope you get a little stress relief this weekend and can steal a bit of time for yourself. You got this!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these panels! I loved the time i spent in Galaxy's Edge and having a panel to build will bring that joy and wonder back. Happy Thanksgiving and a HUGE Thank You!
4:46 We need to talk about what you're doing with those connectors! Please get yourself some panel mount sockets. That aside, a great selection of control panels.
@@TheSmugglersRoom If it works it works. I'm just imagining having to unplug it at some point and the inside connector falls away from the hole so you have to take it apart to plug it back in again.
As a kid I actually did do basket weaving and did get thrown out of acting class (because I didn't know how to play a butler), basket weaving was the only other class with vacant seats. I did make one ugly basket. Fluro green and orange cane seemed like a good color combo to my kid brain. That was one ugly basket... so ugly. I mean, what teacher expects 9 year olds to watch Downton Abby type stuff?
@@TheSmugglersRoom Yes. All the world's a stage, except for me. For me it was a place to make ugly caneware that mysteriously disappeared from the kitchen after a brief period of display.
@@TheSmugglersRoom I remember seeing the McQuarrie drawings back in 1976 before the movie came out in a publication called “The Monster Times” and being excited to see how they would be envisioned. Also I’ve crawled around the LA aerospace salvage yards back in the early ‘80s and you could see the Star Wars esthetics in the piles of stuff in the yards. There was even one yard that had a Saturn V rocket engine exhaust in it.

Hi there, just responded to you
So, you’ve started using profanity now…. The fact that you didn’t was a reason I liked your channel.
Wasn’t the original Star Wars aesthetic “What can we find in the salvage yards that will
look good together”?
It certainly was a combination of that and the awesome artwork from Ralph Mcquarrie
