This monster build has been a long time coming. So many aspects complete, and more to come. We tried our best to build 90% of it using more basic woodworking tools; circular saw, router, drills, and so on. Hope it inspires you to take on a bigger project for yourself!
"Every maker makes mistakes" a good maker knows how to fix them. The trim added to the air lock jambs was a easy and low-cost fix . That in the end looked great. Well done 👍
I've loved your channel since day one, but I gotta say... as a recently married chubby, nerdy dude, I'm so glad your wife shows up more. She seems cool, and awesome nerdy wives are the coolest :-) Wicked project guys!!!
Thank you! Congrats on your recent marriage! Yes, I love having Carissa in the episodes, it's so enjoyable doing these together.
@@TheSmugglersRoom Thank you! I don't ever plan to make a RUclips channel like you guys (or at all, realistically), but my own lady and I debate making a podcast of all things nerdy (she already is involved in one called Beauties and Headcanons, but sometimes the things they do aren't as broad or get as deep as she'd like), and I'm always doing woodworking and little projects. Whenever we buy a house, I'm fully intending to build an "immersive-type" nerd cave, and your channel is a HUGE inspiration for that! Keep rocking guys!!!!
I can really appreciate the "behind the scenes" camera work at the end. It really demonstrates that there is a LOT more effort that goes into your RUclips videos than one thinks. As usual, great build!
Thank you. There sure is. And it’s also a lot of fun!
Wow! That is one hell of a door! It looks fantastic!
Thank you my friend!
i am surprised how you guys get better and more creative every time and this build is very cool . . . I love this video !
Thank you! We keep trying to up our game.
If I ever had the fortune to build my dream home, it would be a fortress of futurism-a blend of sci-fi aesthetics and top-notch security, designed with the precision of an architect who shares my vision. The house wouldn’t just be a home; it would be a statement of both function and fantasy. The front door wouldn’t be your typical entrance. Instead, imagine stepping up to a steel airlock, complete with a keypad for access. Once inside, you wouldn’t be in the house just yet. You’d find yourself in an enclosed space, with a second door separating you from the interior. This space would have one-way bulletproof windows, giving those inside a clear view of whoever’s entering-perfect for security. All exterior windows and doors? Bulletproof, naturally. Safety would be woven into every detail. Even the floors would reflect this futuristic design, tiled with embedded neon lights marking walkways, guiding your steps like you’re aboard a starship. Now, the bedrooms wouldn’t be obvious. Each would have a hidden entrance, concealed behind bookshelves, paintings, or wardrobes-whichever best suits the room. Four bedrooms in total: a grand master suite, a guest master bedroom, and two standard bedrooms. And of course, bathrooms to match-three in total. One private for the master suite, another for the guest, and a third public one for common use. The kitchen would hide its own secret too. A countertop that, when moved, reveals a hidden staircase descending into the heart of the house-the basement. But this wouldn’t be any ordinary basement. Down here would lie the true heart of the house. A fully equipped armory, a soundproof firing range, a home theater for both entertainment and isolation, and a fortified safe room-just in case. The roof, a crowning feature, would resemble the battlements of a castle, complete with rooftop access. On clear nights, it would transform into a stargazing platform, perfect for watching the cosmos.
Wow! Sounds crazy cool.
This is another amazing project!
Thank you
Great job! Super inspirational and entertaining video!
Thank you!
Yes the light grey is a good color for this!
Great episode. I feel the pain of what it is like to spend days, weeks, building walls. However, as usual, the best part was the blooper at the end. It literally made me spit my coffee all over myself! I was not expecting the total meltdown from everyone. 🤣
LOL, so much fun to record and share the bloopers. Thanks for watching!
Cool build! About the ridges after routing the rounded edges, if you set your router bit a little bit higher -> no more ridges to sand down after routing :)
Oh, we wanted the ridges to show. I set the bit at that height on purpose. When I mentioned "sanding down the ridges" what I was talking about was inside the curve. It had a bit of a burr on it that needed sanding. Sorry, i should have clarified that a bit more. Thanks for watching!
Fabulous. Awesome edit amazing build bro.
Thank you my friend! Much appreciated!
Ooh, exciting!
👏👏👏👏 This may be the best video you've done so far. Excellent build too. I love seeing everyone so involved. It shows how much of a team effort the whole thing was. Carissa is so funny 🤣 and poor Mark 😔 Right out the airlock after the face hugger got him... He will be missed.
Happy Halloween my friends! 👻🎃💀🧛🧟🦸🦹🧙🧝🥷
Thank you!!! We so appreciate the kind words.
Wonderful. I hope you cable both sides of the doors together, so moving either side moves both sides.
Thanks! We have plans for automation and such with the doors in the future.
Just the most wholesome content I watch. I make because of you 😊
Thank you so very much! What a wonderful comment!
Guys, thats awesome!
Thank you!
Awesome film! Well done! 🙂
Thank you!!
The Force is obviously with you guys ! Bravo 👍
Thank you!
That is turning out great! Entertainingly, we were watching while working on projects in our garage.
That is awesome! Thank you!
Awesome! Nothing wrong with you’re paint booth. Helps keep overspray contained and reduces bugs and dust in your paint. I’ve painted cars I’ve restored making a similar makeshift paint booth in my garage at home. I used an old squirrel cage blower with hepa filter for ventilation. One tip is to spray the floor down w/ water before you start spraying paint. It helps to attract all the dust out of the air in your booth to the floor so it doesn’t end up in the coat you’re laying down.
Wow! Amazing job!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Just watched aliens like 10 minutes ago and then i see this video. So perfect. awesome build you guys!!!
Awesome!!
I like it twice, first because of the prop itself and second because of how good it blends into a Star Wars theme. You could perfectly take that door and put it in the corridors of the Tantive IV.
Thank you so much!
Another awesome build
Thank you 🤗
Love the intro of this. Thought about doing a blast door for my garage door so this build has very much inspired me to sit down and do the design.
Awesome! Thank you!
This makes me happy 😊 😃 😀
Thank you
OMG! This build was HUGE! Love this video Brian! AMAZING WORK, DETAIL AND AWESOMENESS all wrapped up in this great video!!! Again AWESOME and AMAZING! LOVED IT! Not only are the doors beautiful, it’s so much fun to watch your film work too!
Thank you so much. A ton of credit has to be given to Carissa for how well she edited this episode. So fun what she did with the footage and the music. Couldn’t do it without her!
OMG!! Can I come over and play? Looks like loads of fun, great project.
careful what you wish for . . . we'll put you to work over here! LOL
Funny and amazing stuff. You guys have to have sore ribs at the end of each day. Thanks for the fun and awesome design! Happy Halloween!
Thanks bud! Yep, we are certainly worn out around here.
@@TheSmugglersRoom lol well I meant from chuckling all day
Another fantastic build! Congratulations to all of you guys!👏👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌‼️‼️‼️
Thank you my friend.
I love The Smugglers Room! Entertaining and inspiring!!
Very much appreciate it!
Every time I see your builds, I think to myself if I ever come into money (lotto lol). I am so going to offer you a job to make me a sci fi themed lounge/game room. 😊
Thank you!
It’s such an impressive project! INCREDIBLE!!!!
Thank you sir!
Most excellent build you guys! Thanks for continuing to inspire all of us!
Thanks for watching!
The amount of work and details is simply insane, but you did an amazing job, all I can say is 👏👏
Also nice and funny video 😉👍
Thank you Iván!
Personally I think those mistakes are happy mistakes if there is such a thing. The trim really worked. Great work as always
Like Bob Ross said, “Happy Little Accidents”
@@TheSmugglersRoom hopefully I can make a start on my own much smaller room next year, just can't decide if I should go for something on planet with stone walls, regular furniture that fits the world or go all in with the spaceship interior, I prefer the spaceship idea but I feel it will be much more work to pull it off convincingly and that scares me
This looks awesomely amazing so far. I liked the alternate stories of the build and the invasion of the Face hugger. I also like the use of the barn door hardware so you can have it not be just a static prop.
Thanks Wayne! It’s been a. Racy big project t for sure. Now we need to weather and finish it up.
Wow. You guys. ……WOW I’m speechless. 😅👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much!
really nice guys :) next project, the Nostromo ship (maybe smaller scale) love the production and the end result as well!
I'd love a model version of the Nostromo! Thanks for watchin!
Brilliant work. It can really help to have a few good tools in your work shop.
Thank you!
That's awesome! Consider me inspired!!
Such a great build… Such a massive build…and I love the details such as the thumbnail, things that went sideways and how you fixed it. And the acting sequences were greats. I look forward to what you do to blur the aesthetics together and also the awakening of video to your podcast
Thank you so much!
Well worth the wait! Fantastic build! Awesome video 😂 thank you for all the hard work! You give my life a mental exit that I desperately need. I look forward to more builds!!!
So wonderful hear. Thank you!
This is so awesome! Came here from ILTMS
Thank you
This is where the fun begins
Very, very well done my friend!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Brilliant 👏
Thank you!
Lol so cute. Made my day….
LoL, good to hear!
Realy nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Unbelievably cool, you guys did an amazing job!
Thank you very much!
Nice to see you even worked in the Ron Cobb Semiotic Icon for airlock! James Cameron even included those into Aliens in 86’. Nice in-universe continuity.
Of course. Ron Cobb was instrumental in the design on Alien and Aliens. Loved his work. We are going to be doing more of the Semiotic Standards here very soon as well.
Ooooo......Star War Alien mashup!!!!! Love it!!!
Thank you!
Love it! Absolutely perfect execution!
Thank you!!
It needs an alien poster behind the glass like it's looking through at you.
I was thinking more of an actual sculpted Xenomorph coming through the doors 😜
Best one yet. Love it
So glad to hear. Thank you!
Love it, when I build my own house, I will make the studio entrance where my collection will be to be like this airlock door, only with a locking mechanism of course 😁❤ If I could install an automatic function and a manual override would be so cool.
Awesome
So worth the wait. Great job.
Thank you so much Lisa!!!
And the hits keep coming!
Lol! We hope so!
The more builds you do the more amazed I am. This was such an awesome project. I watched some of it unfold on Instagram, Magnificent. Makes me wish I had a bigger house where I could make something on that scale.,
Thank you so much!
Wow, just wow. Also, RIP Mark. I am already thinking of a follow-up where Mark somehow survives outside the airlock and gets back inside (due to lack of airlock 2-factor security or something) but is somehow ..." changed" and starts picking off the remaining crew one by one. He might find the book folks shouldn't read that started this mess and summon more face-huggers or a full-on xenomorph. - That aside this is one of your BEST videos. Amazing production, as usual., BTS, bloopers, and a great filmic aspect to tie into the build. #teamworkdreamwork with the three of you!
Thank you so much! So glad you like it. And don’t worry, Mark will be back. He always come back!
Одна из самых крутых частей, спасибо!!
Thank you!
Excellent! Most Excellent !
Thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Looks amazing
Lol! That’s a great build! I’m inspired.
On second viewing you should’ve had the alien pop out of his chest and then say “you hungry?“ And then blasted him out of the airlock lol
LOL!! That would have been funny
Action. We're walking. We're panning. We're looking. We're cracking up. Annnnnd take 42. Action.
Love this build. Sorry you lost Mark in the process. But, he was, after all, only a stormtrooper.
Question: did I miss how you diffused the clear acrylic for the lights on the column? They looked like the light was nicely diffused. I was thinking of suggesting using P95 Matte Clear (or matte white) acrylic.
Thank you Deanna! Filming those goofy things was almost the most fun part!
for the diffusion i used packing material. It works great!
@@TheSmugglersRoom y’all seem to have a lot of fun. Lots of goofing time to choose from? For me? I have lots of fun watching your videos. You got me through a very long night last night. Rewatched an endless stream of your channel. (No! I’m not to count how many hours it was.)
Wonderful result, Guys! Saw that Raspberry Pi in the greeblie bin... any chance we could get a Star Wars Raspberry Pi project in the near future??? I have 12 older models that need a purpose!!!!!! Love y'all to the fully armed and operational station and back!
Great idea. We need to try that out.
I can't get over how much the stormtrooper's comlink effect sounds just like one from an actual Lucasfilm production. Sorcery?
LOL, it is a little sorcery. I don't have a full comlink built, so I alter it in software.
Bob Ross taught the world that, "there are no mistakes, only Happy Little Accidents"
Indeed!
Wow! Firstly, didn’t notice a hernia. Secondly, you need to get yourself a set of wood clamps!
LOL!!! You rock man. I do have a set of wooden clamps as well!
I wouldn't suggest putting this video on your Acting Demo reel. LMAO! 🤣
WOW
Wizard!😁
;) thank ya!
Looks good.
Thanks!
This is just great. You guys really outdid yourselves. I’m curious how long this took from start to finish (or as finished as it now stands)?
Thank you so much! I don't have an exact time unfortunately. We started the project in mid August, however we didn't work on it every day, but a bit at a time. I know in the last three weeks we probably had 40 hours or so on it to get it to this point. Even with that we are still missing some key things that we will have to add here shortly.
We've got Movie Sign!!
Movie sign?
@@TheSmugglersRoom It's a reference to Mystery Science Theater 3000. The Alien door reminded me of it.
@@WarhavenSC oooooh!!! I gotcha 🤣
*might seem like an odd question (but then i'm...nevermind) but do you have a mailing address/PO box that your subscribers can send you things they might stumble over (figuratively speaking of course unless they are just exceptionally clumsy)?..mostly small objects of interesting shapes that might prove useful in the fabrication of future props and background surfaces...i ask this because i collect all sorts of things because i see the world and the objects around be in pieces and constantly rearranging these bits into more exciting or interesting shapes...for instance the sealing caps form carbonated beverage syrup boxes...they have a really nice industrial(ish) shape to them that could add a lot of surface excitement to background panels or workstations...you could probably ask at local fastfood locations to save them for you once you know what they look like as they just throw them away not knowing their geeky potential as elements of prop fabrication...also if you do not know the site there is an additional content provider by the name of Anthony Ferraro whose channel is called CreateScifi who also builds nice looking props out of very inexpensive findings such as what can be bought at the dollar (themed) store (he's located in California...perhaps a collaboration or creative exchange could be possible at some point...he has made some pretty impressive short movies in the past so his channel is well worth checking out at some point...anyway i have some bits to send your way i think you could make use of if interested...just sayin'...have an excellent day*
*be the reason someone smiles today...or the reason they drink...whatever works for you*
4:57 Best horror movie of all time? Which one? Bambi? 😂🤣
Lol
I love the Alien content! Don't get me wrong, I am Star Wars (he says in almost a defensive manner) . But I'm a huge Alien(s) fan as well. By the way everybody knows that Bryan is spelled with a Y. You really need to get that fixed.
I’m with you, Alien(s) is some of the best films ever made. And don’t be silly, any self respecting Brian knows there’s no “why” in Brian🤣
Hi thanks for a great build and video! What is the name of that cool song in the beginning of the video?
Got to have the star trek sound effect.
Star Trek sound? Not on this door, LOL!
@@TheSmugglersRoom going to drive through the town from "masters of the universe" take a side street and see "Mr. Strickland's house" from back to the future. After work.
Veri cool end nyce
Thank you
If you set your router bit lower on the shaft, you wouldn't have to sand that lip off that it left.
The lip we were actually talking about was inside the curve. Not the edge that you see in the window. That was done on purpose. We wanted that. I didn’t explain well.
I'd like to thank the academy...
You can never have too many clamps.
You got that right!
If the Alien Franchise and Star Wars shared a universe, I don't think, the Xenomorphs would survive :D
Jedi would use the Force to keep the Xenos at bay :D
I don't know. Jedi are pretty awesome but Xenomorphs . . . it would be a heck of a fight!
@@TheSmugglersRoom Jedi would need the help of the Sith with their Force Lightning :D it turns out, Xenos are weak to electricity :D
I wanna see that kind of fight :D
Cool build, but the red X should be centered. Where it's positioned now looks like a mistake.
Thanks, but the red X in the actual film is off center, so we matched it. Thanks for watching.
@@TheSmugglersRoom Well, then, never mind. LOL
@@InformantNet LOL 😂
There’s stuff called paint stripper and take a few minutes to work..
Cool
I question how the face hugger was able to get mark with his helmet.
Shhh….don’t question it. Also don’t ask how Mark and the Facehugger got ejected, but the helmet stayed…unmarred.
we wondered that too . . . LOL
Facehuggers are talented little creatures! LOL
sounds like the beginning from evil dead...🤣😂🤣 A book bound in human skin and written in blood wrapped saying dont read or open 😂🤣🤣😂
Any plans to automate the door open/close?
yes, eventually we will
cool make ! I love alien its an ace film but I also love my little pony and one year at pony con (where they have a destroy a fake competition ) I made an alien themed one with a fake (not hasbro) my little pony with a face hugger and one with a chest buster as the theme was sci-fi tat year , Iit came 1st place XD oh and *jonesey is best character :D
That's awesome!
You set your bit too deep/used one not a proper size. Also you should get an orbital sander. It will make the sanding a little smoother and hide imperfection rather than create them. But very nice build.
Yep, I sure did. But I actually liked the little ridge it left on the piece. So in the end it turned out alright. I do have an orbital sander as well. Thanks for watching
@@TheSmugglersRoom came out great. I sent your video to my wife to ask if I could do this in the basement. She said sure so 🙏
Star Wars themed dust/ respirator mask.
Please, PLEASE -MDF dust is SO bad for your lungs!!!!
Don’t worry, we wear them often. Especially with the router.
@@TheSmugglersRoom maybe a facehugger dusk mask for when you may be avoiding some sanding 😉
I don’t want to come across as annoying or a troll, just wanting everyone to be safe
how and where can you ge the diffuser plastic for lights? I tried looking everywhere and couldn't find anything
The acrylic we used was clear. I picked it up from Delvie’s Plastic. You can order from their shop online. I then sprayed the backside with a simply matte finish sealer. Then on the inside I layered in two sheets of simple packing material that you use to wrap packages in.
What's an Aluminum Falcon?! You let a bunch of kids blow up my Death Star?!
LOL
whats did you use to seal the mdf?
We used multiple layers of a water based sanding sealer.
Wish you were my neighbor. Ps..when in doubt ..airlock
LOL, we need an entire community of us living near one another. Can you imagine that neighborhood? LOL
@@TheSmugglersRoom that would be soooooooooo sick. You do some awesome sht .
Poor Mark, but he was an expendable Stormtrooper. Too bad for him.
🤣
