- In our Star Wars Cantina we are adding elements to give it that vibe from a galaxy far far away, and this time we are adding a bit of decor on the unusual side. A creature aquarium display.
This is also part of the collaboration and challenge issued by Aedo with FabWorks. This collaboration included makers of all kinds and abilities. For more on that check out the previously recorded live show done on the FabWorks RUclips Channel:

WOW!!! 😯Fantastic build video, your level of attention to detail and creativity is mindblowing brother!!!🤯 Thank you for the shout-out and for being a judge on the FAB Works Challenge. It was an absolute blast!!!
Thank you so much for assembling an amazing challenge my friend. Such a great thing for the community and I was honored to be asked to be a part of it.
The wood caressing montage starting at 4:24 made me feel funny inside. Good funny, I think.
LOL!!! Thanks . . . I think, LOL
That is most awesome! I love the addition to your cantina. It's perfect!
Thank you!!!!!
You reminded me of a happy detail from my old Star Wars D6 days. Every Star Wars bar needs a unique drink like blue milk, so ours had "rainbow water." It was mineral water with a sort of rainbow sheen that came from the oils released by a fish swimming around in your glass. You were warned "Don't swallow the fish."
Because the fish were little tropical fish that defended themselves by releasing hallucinogenic compounds from their skins. Predator fish would try to swim up to the school and get all confused and swim off. The dose you'd get from a single fish in a fairly large glass was just enough to make all the lights look pretty and give you a nice buzz. But the dose from an entire fish-- all at once-- was a lot more.
LOL!!! Awesome!!
“I knew a Spice Freighter Engineer that ate the fish once. He launched himself at Tatooine in one of the escape pods while muttering “I know it’s secrets” over and over again. We landed to try and find him but we just found the empty escape pod. A week later, a tribe of Tuskens showed up at the nearby village with our engineer. He was found naked trying to talk to the Sarlaac, they captured him but decided to hand him back over to the humans because they “couldn’t deal with his crazy rambling anymore”. He was never quite the same again…so, yeah, don’t swallow the fish!”
That's not a stick. That's a rare species of J'um Char tree that only grows to be about a foot and a half. You've actually managed to save your patrons from a painful, grisly death as the J'um Char tree is highly prized for its poison-neutralizing properties. You can actually cut the tree into a thousand pieces and over a very long period of time, they will slowly grow into new trees. It takes a few thousand years, though.
Any particular reason for not illuminating the hanging spheres? Looks amazing!
Fantastic build Brian! Have you ever thought of creating a book (SW themed of course) with a write up on “collected” items like this so when friends stop by they can get the history of them? Or it can just be another build that you can add to as you make things if anything else. Just an idea…
Very cool idea! Thank you!
Love the edit, love the creativity, the routing you did on the MDF and inserting that ribbed detail in the inset on the top is genius detail... Final look of this is next level as is your craftsmanship, love the buttery slo mo!
Thank you very much! Appreciate you bro!
That looks great.
I know I have an LED problem but I think those two little glass pots on the left with the red and green resin in them disserve to be lit (with a red and green LED) to highlight them. I wonder if you could get the resin to almost glow with an aimed LED.
Yep, i've given that some thought. Though i do like how strange and mysterious it looks in the room. There is a small light above them that are a bit tough to see in the video, and they give off a weird glow, but you never know . . .
Great video! But I wouldn't put any live fish in that tank. It is way to small for fish, but could be good for a snail. Maybe a nerite or mystery snail. And as someone in the aquarium hobby, fake sticks at the pet store ARE PRICY! The video was great and I loved it. I've always been curious about the tanks in star wars🤔😆
Hey Brian! My padawan and I ran into you at the hasbro booth at SWC. I was just telling my wife last night we should build an aquarium, and now this pops up! Haha she would never go for it, but it fits the smugglers room perfectly!!!
Another incredible, creative build man. When is lucasfilm going to hire you!?!!?
hey there!! It was awesome to meet you! Now go build and aquarium . . ask for forgiveness later ;)
I was sort of hoping you’d say, ‘So I got home and I decided, I’m gonna make and sell sticks for $28.00.
LOL
Order $66.
Your $30 stick story reminds me of a Big Bang Theory episode. One of the characters orders a Harry Potter wand on eBay, that they figure someone went into the backyard and picked it up. But the upside, it's numbered, so it's a limited edition. Lol
Looks great. Rethesis drink and some death sticks.
LOL! Totally!
I think most people will have had some sort of should we return it or just keep it moment. And I am guessing you picked the stick from the aquarium section based on the price as those can get expensive as they have been prepared and are more expensive wood kinds.
That makes so much more sense Sebastiaan. I never considered it was treated. Makes me feel a bit better. LOL
i thought about trying this challenge and had an idea but having never done this stuff before wasnt sure how to or finding enough parts. Guess its ok i didnt . Cant compete with the professionals and skills like this anyway.
I wish you would have given it a shot Brian. I think if you have an idea you should still do it! And never compare your beginning to someone else's middle. We all start somewhere, and we all have so much to learn. Just jump in there and give it a shot. Make a mess, make mistakes, and keep improving. I mess up every project at some point and have to re-work things constantly. It's the journey my friend. As long as you are enjoying it that is all that matters!
I just inherited an actual glow fish tank, man, I might have to do something to make it more cool now
Sweet!!!
After a trip with my kids to Galaxy's Edge last year, I went down the rabbit hole of trying to build a DJ-R3X droid for my game room. (Note: he's still not finished). Stepping a little further into that same rabbit hole, I wondered if I should make the room a little more sci-fi, Star Wars-esque to really sell the feel. Last night that led me to your channel, which is a wealth of ideas and creativity. You've now gained a new sub, and thanks for all the amazing projects and builds to give me inspiration, and to help us nerdy folk know that we're not alone in this grand universe.
Great build Brain! Hey ... uh.... are you gonna sell that juice on the store? Sounded intriguing O_o ... Oh and the stick, maybe come up with great lore for it as well and build a stand for it, lol. 30 bucks for a stick. Incredible. :D
LOL!!!! Love it!!!
Its a souvenir from Dagobah.
Very cool. You should consider possibly getting one of those projectors with the Halloween "holograms", to add movement and a sense of life in that aquarium.
I appreciate the moral lesson of this video.
Don't pay ($30!) for a stick.
I'm building a tree for my cat, and I'm going on a hike for the wood branch materials.
Amazing work as always, It would be pretty cool if you could add a smoke generator into the 'habitate' to give it that little bit of extra animation. But I don't know the long term effect of the vapor smoke on the surfaces/display. Anyway... great work I always enjoy your videos and would love to work with you on a project one day.
A Star Wars themed Antique store? 🤔
hmm . . . now that has an awesome ring to it! Great idea!
Love the build and I noticed you had a new helper with you. Great to get the young ones involved. Also, there are 3 truths in life. You cannot be too rich, too thin, or have too many clamps in your workshop. You will always need one more.
Amen Keith! Rules to live by for sure!
Somehow i missed this one, loved the stick story the real question is thou is your stick better than bacon?
Not the stick! 😅 lol that would be something I would do!!
Looks cool keep up the good work
Thank you, will do!!
I have that same figure and wow your paint job is awesome! Everything about this one is just awesome! Love the glass jars also. Great Job Brian! It was a pleasure being on the judging panel with you!
Thanks so much!
WOW $30 stick. I think we can all agree we have been there done that.
Fantastic build, but you really ought to buy a few more clamps! Lol. Really cool concept and execution. Amazing!
Thank you my friend
Thirty bucks for a stick......who would have thunk it.....Nice set up, that was very creative. The entire display is completely awesome.
Probably specially treated wood for aquarium use, since you can't exactly just pick up a stick in your backyard and toss it in. :)
Yeah, I guess....but still. LOL!!
I know right?? I think i have a new business venture idea . . . Smuggler Sticks! only $25.99, a super deal! LOL
@@TheSmugglersRoom $25,99 + S&H xD
That's a good idea, LOL
What a great show you present! I am an electronics person and I’ve been seeking something to *inspire* myself and your channel is a wonderful source of fun electronic goodness.
Thank you!
So happy to hear that. Very much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to watch.
That is beautiful! It's also an inspiring build. I'm going to watch it again whilst I sort out my workspace, but from an Alt account to give more views because you guys deserve ALL of the views!
Awesome! Thank you!
This is one of the best projects I have seen. I am blown away 💥😮👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😄👍🏾.Awesome Episode .
Thank you!!!
Needs a led light were the drinks are 👍🏼
Absolutely love this Brian!!! It looks fantastic in the window man!! I love how you combined all the different elements too! MDF, laser cut items, bought and found pieces! Really great man!
Thanks so much! Really tried to use all kinds of techniques to give as many ideas as possible! Appreciate you man!
I have decided to go into the stick business. Crazy price sticks - $25 each. Less for bulk orders. Longer sticks subject to availability. Can cut to size for $5. Sorry, no refunds.
LOL!!! SOLD!!!
Very cool build Brian and I love the music. It's like Tron meets Europe's The Final Countdown LOL
Thank you!! Carissa did a great job with the music and editing. So glad you liked it!
Parents keep your kids off drugs. Teach them prop making, Then they won't have money for drugs. Lol
HA!!! Excellent!
great build as ever, excellent videography, I love the routed details especially, I'm a sucker for a wrap-around cut-out, it's a consistent feature of my 3d modeled objects. all that's well and good, but I'm commenting for one, simple reason.
I think we all probably have a 30 dollar stick story.
LOL!!! Thank you so much! I am certain we all have a stick story, such fun to share!
Amazing build! Along with doing Star Wars I keep a lot of aquariums, already knew where you were going with the stick sorry brother I wish I could of giving you the heads up.
All good Ty, live and learn right? LOL. Thanks for watching!
How to maximise your investment ? Cut it in half !!!! 😂 #clampchamp #branchmanager
LOL
That's a pretty funny project! I'm not fond of the sequel trilogy, but I think rathtars are cool with those lovecraftian vibes.
Thank you!
I am thinking of going to the May 5 celebration next year and of course Star Wars Con, while being dress as Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Awesome!
Amazing build, and the stick story made me chuckle. We live, we learn. :) Stay awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Why do I suspect you have a huge warehouse full of orange juice lids, lol.
Cool build.
LOL! If I don't stop collecting them I will need a warehouse for them!
Awesome build. That bay with the hanging glass would have been the perfect spot for a small k cup brewer.
Oooh!! Totally!!
Great build Brian, very unique and inspirational. I love how you came up with the story behind it. I did however see on your laptop in the background, and wonder what your plans looked like.Maybe show those and your thought process in the design stage.
Hey there, thank you! We were running tight on time, so I wasn’t able to show the plans, but we’ll make sure and include that on the next big build.
So freaking cool! Hopefully you make at least 30 bucks off this video 🤣🤣😉👍
I hope so too! LOL!
11:19 sooo I'd like to explain the reason that "just a stick" costs you 30$ is because that stick has been completed decontaminated, as a reptile owner it's a common misconception I see that people think they can just "grab a stick from their backyard" but those sticks can carry rot, disease, parasites, all sorts of nasties you don't want with your reptiles/fish. Obviously for your purposes that's not relevant but I just thought I'd explain for anyone confused why pet store aquarium/terrarium branches are so stupidly priced
If it helps any it looks like you still have probably $25 worth of stick left use on other projects! Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful work.
LOL! Thank you!
Hey man, i really love your videos. They are so well done and what you create is amazing. I got in to it initially because i built an star wars inspired shooter arcade. Looks right out of the star wars universe. I have you to thank for all of the ideas. I keep coming back though because now building control panels n such is fun i keep doing it. Also when you talk about how its ok to step away, and creating is supposed to be therapeutic, very cool. any way. cheers!
Thank you! So glad they are helpful for you!!
Awesome build, and very detailed! One of these days I’ll be able to build with such detail as you and the other amazing makers! I have aspirations and inspirations from all of you guys!
I have no doubt you will get better each time, just keep building!
Another amazing project!!!! And had a similar dog toy story lol got home realized the $5 toy I thought I bought was actually $22
I’m so glad I’m not alone!!
That TV next to where you put it needs.... In universe-ifying lol.
AMEN to that!!
I’m gonna wait for the stick to go on sale then try this build!!!!! So COOL!!!
LOL!!!!
The stick might be a rare hardwood. They're expensive.
I hope so, that would make me feel better . . . LOL!
LMAO... a $30 stick. We've all been there brother.
right? Thank you!
excellent work but would have looked better with actual liquid in the tank and kept the aerator so the display is not static and has movement! Good job
Thanks. We didn't want to have to clean the water and deal with that. So we'll just have to hope it's still fun for guests without it.
Is this drinks unique and wildly expensive taste influenced by the 30 credit stir stick?
YES! Sticks increase the prices, damn this inflation! LOL
Fantastic build. Love the back story too! Sorry about the stick! Lol
Thanks Bro! Appreciate you man!
A really great addition to your cantina.
I think one technique that you skipped past is very useful: the use of the backside of a file to deburr the interior of your cut pipe sections.
Awesome! Yeah, we had not shown that much or every. Thanks Wayne.
Great project, but perhaps you should split open that stick to check if it contains any concealed beskar!
LOL!!! Right???
Well now youre gonna need to build another aquarium and use that $30 stick!
Yep!
I think we've all bought that $30 stick and then didn't use hardly any of it in out build!🤣
Right? It totally happens
Another fantastic build my friend even with the stick!🤣🤣🤣‼️
Thank you Ed!!
This gives me an idea for my fish tank in my sitting room. The Wife will love it (hopefully)
whoohoo!!
okie man... did you just wing this? or did you plan it out? it looks amazing!
We actually planned this as much as possible. It had to fit inside the window space. So the structure was planned out. The details and paint was decided during the assembly. So a bit of both I think. 🤣
Might be my favorite build of yours yet. Nice work 👍
Wow, thanks!
Awesome build!!!!
We use an Opee to make our cold brew coffee.
🤣. Thank you!
When can we see another update on the basement? Not even a new build, just curious to see what it looks like in progress.
We are going to have one of those here in about two weeks. It's NOT impressive. Been far too long since we have had time to make any significant progress. But we are showing it . . . warts and all.
Fantastic this is the reason why you are The Godfather of what we do !!
LOL! Thank you Bro, much appreciated!
That is crazy awesome. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I'm sorry my friend, the stick has bested yoooooouuu!
LOL! It sure did!
Looks great! The one issue I see is the slug is in an action pose but not moving, so it doesn't look alive. Having it resting would have been more convincing.
unfortunately that is the way it comes as the toy, so frozen in action it is.
Hans down my favorite YT channel.
Thank you so very much!!
Great build as usual! When in doubt… orange juice top it!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice job came out really cool. I also love the back story that you came up with for it
I'm glad you like it, thank you!
Quite amazing.
looks great but think adding some light on the goo balls would look great
I have a small light on it now, and it is a little dim. I may add more in the future, but i also like the dark weirdness it gives off when you are in the room. We'll see, time will tell what we do.
This is by far my favorite. Impressive work.
Thank you
Very nice. Too bad about the $30 stick
Thank you!
Ouch! that is one valuable stick. Great build as usual.
It sure is!!! LOL, thanks for watching.
Awesome I'm going to do a trash compactor monster.
Sweet!!! Great idea!!!
Looks like the navigators from Dune
Cool
Oh the stick… comedy in tragedy. Great build!
LOL, thank you!
That is so awesome. I just picked up that Rathtar at a con this weekend!
Very cool
Amazing! Love the channel Brian!
Glad you enjoy it!
Down right clever I must say!
Thank you!
Remember the water pinball games in 1978. Every middle school kid had one.
YES! I totally had one of those!
@@TheSmugglersRoom be easy to adapt and paint if any still exist.
I thought of something that could make for a good video series if you were up for it. Making iconic movie and TV show props in the style of Star Wars. Like a Star Trek Phaser, an Alien Motion Tracker or Pulse Rifle, a Ghostbusters Proton Pack, a Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, Deckards Blaster from Blade Runner, Batman's Grappling Gun, Starlord's mask from Guardians of the Galaxy... All in the style of being from the Start Wars universe.
I LOVE THIS!!!!
@@TheSmugglersRoom Sooo is that a yes to making it a series? lol.
Brian, this is one of your coolest builds yet. Not that everything you post isn’t cool. You set the curve pretty high for all of us. 😎
I really love the placement in the cantina…perfection. Several had mentioned lighting the goo globes. I initially thought the same. But, on further ‘reflection’ I think it’s reasonable to say that the intoxicating effects of the secretions are adversely affected by light. Keep ‘‘em dark and mysterious.
If you needed a stick, dude, just let me know. Oregon has 78.42 metric tons of sticks. Different species. Different climates. Different states of decay. Infinite sizes. Im certain I could have found one for you. Could have saved yourself at least…. $3.00.
LOL!!! Thank you Deanna!! I liked the dark and dim globes too, glad you agree. I might have to take you up on some of those sticks . . . awesome drift wood from the beach!!
@@TheSmugglersRoom Yes, the driftwood here is so awesome. Though, I found out that some beaches it is illegal to remove driftwood, stones, sand, etc.
Speaking of sand. I collected some sand, last year, for a project. I discovered that the sand here is so incredibly fine that it freely passes through a stainless steel tea strainer. Accurately 1:72 scaled for Tatooine?
With so much effort spent painting the Rathtar, (and pricey sticks used $$$) I'm kinda surprised the seams weren't filled in.
Looked like a fun project. Thumbs up anyway (and SUBBED!). Inspired me to make my own "StarWars-ish" fun stuff for around the house. THANKS!
Thank you! Yes, filling the seams really needed to be done. Unfortunately the project was running really really behind, and we needed to get it completed. Honestly, by the time it was finished and fully installed, you really can't notice the seams, so I got lucky there ;) Thanks for the sub!
@@TheSmugglersRoom YEah, was goign to say...Not really an issue since it is where it is. VEry cool Room BTW.😎
That looks great in your bar!!!!!
Thank you!
Awesome stuff!! 👍🏻😮👍🏻
Thank you!
So your items from the pet store were….. order 66?
Ha ha ha!!!
Loved it. Dude you have a great eye for detail
Thank you so much!!!
Another great build !
Thank you Garland!!!
We’ve all been victims to the stick at one time or another.
I'm glad I am not alone!
I love the lore behind this build
Thank you!
I mean....it is a very nice stick.
LOL!!!! It sure is!!!
