About two months ago I got five 5-gallon paint can pour spouts from a friend. I instantly knew they were the thermal exhaust ports above my built-in fridge once I painted them white. Added some red LEDs to them and they glow red because they were translucent orange and the white paint isn't so thick to keep them opaque. So I've been looking at my plain fridge for a month thinking I needed to do something with it. Now I know exactly what it needs and where to put the Droid Data Terminal kit that I got from you that I'm putting together now. Thanks again for the inspiration!

This came out so...ahem...cool. 😁 I love the way this looks! It's so much more than just a bit of a mod to the front. Now I'm wondering how long it's going to be before the entire workshop is Star Warsed!
Great video Brian! I used similar methods when I did my run of Fallout Nuka Cola mini fridges last year and the year before. One neat trick I found on the fridges that have the clear glass viewing window to see inside: give it several light coats of glow in the dark paint. It’ll remain mostly transparent, and when the lights get turned off, a spooky glow shines through like its radioactive! :D
thanks! that's a great suggestion, especially since we do have one like that in the basement that we'll have to sci-fi soon here! Thank you for watching, and for your support!
Beautiful! Suggestion for a challenge: Star Wars-ed Santa's Sleigh Christmas decoration. I know it's summer, but something like that needs lead time. Think about it. It could be epic. Love your stuff, but now I'm cursed. I'm seeing greeblies everywhere. My wife thinks I'm insane for saving lids and plumbing parts. I may be single soon. Just kidding.
That's a very interesting idea! Though we strive for Halloween every year, we could think about this idea in November! It's funny about the greeblies, we too see them everywhere we go, our juice lid collection is ridiculous!
You can get a small mini fridge for a small investment and custom it for your home! Otherwise, we may actually sell some every now and then on our website!
This is just...pretty. I've been following you for a few months now (and gone back and watched...almost everything), and honestly, you haven't missed at all. Ever. And this is just...this is Star Wars craft goals. If I'm able to to build the Star Wars themed room that I'm hoping for, this is so going to be included. Thanks for sharing this build (and for that matter ALL of your builds) with us other chubby geeks. Here's to continuing making something out of nothing!
Amazing! I've been looking for something to turn into a droid interface and I think you may have just provided the answer. I guess I'll have to reluctantly keep a stock of cold beer in the shop then... it's a hard life.
Awesome! Madcow is the godfather of the custom lightsaber scene. I really like the suspenseful music/dubstep you mixed into this video. The production value of your youtube channel is always getting better!
THANK YOU! We try to improve constantly, and always looking for great tunes. Right now it's all about being fun and upbeat, something you can bob around to in your chair or on your sofa! Thank you for watching.
I spotted the references on those numbers, like the years of the Star Wars Original Trilogy like: 1977 for A New Hope, 1980 for The Empire Strikes Back, and 1983 for Return of the Jedi.
Great work! Prior to the blackwash it usually helps to gently scuff up the surface with steel wool or those steel pot cleaners so the surface has subtle grooves to hook into (think "brushed" or chafed metal).
Excellent idea! Love it! Ideas.... so many ideas!!! I need to do this to my deep freeze in my shed and to a mini fridge for those 115 degree days! Thanks for another awesome build Brian!
Hi! I look forward eagerly to each new Smuggler's Room video. Your cheery approach has been brightening my weeks throughout lockdown, and the techniques are practical, accessible, and adaptable. I like that you also have shown when things don't go quite to plan, and give alternatives to using expensive items. Thanks for encouraging me!
In all honesty, a fridge is one of the first things I was going to 'Star Wars' when I get my own place, so this is going to come in GREAT handy!! 😆👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you very much for this vid
Your creativity and style reminds me of Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Harrison Ford made them both so iconic roles, impossible to reproduce exactly , but inspired to try nonetheless. Thx for another week of inspiration into geekdom.
Wife and I just bought our first home (yay!) and we inherited a second fridge that is now the garage fridge. Between your and Robs versions, I know just what to do with my garage fridge! :)
Thank you so much for opening my mind to think more out of the box than I have been I was but you opened the box in me all the more thanks bro I love to make stuff out of junk redeeming it
Man, you beat me to it lol. I have an idea for 3d printing a Gonk droid mini fridge. If you build up the nerve to make another fridge, you should try it too haha!
Indeed! We love our droids here at the Smugglers Room, we have plans to do a Gonk in the near future and one idea is to have it be a beer holder! Thank you for watching!
Thank you! Yeah, we saved for a good long while to pick up the glowforge. That said, i have seen several other laser cutters out there that are not too bad on cost.

Completely ridiculous, over-the-top... and I love it!!! Great job.
Saw the nod to the release years of the original Trilogy, 77, 80 and 83. Nice touch!
😉
There are other trilogies? 😉
Nick Boylen prequels, can’t think of any others though
You nailed the brief on this! Really great result on the fridge and thank you for the detail instruction along the way. Time for a frothy Fat Bantha!
Thank you very much! So glad you liked it!

Cool build. Since you were drilling holes in the door, you should have added a temp gauge to the front.

@@TheSmugglersRoom Yeah, hindsight is always 20/20.
Bad thing about Rust Oleum is that it is such a aggressive paint that it may eat through some plastics. I’d suggest using water based acrylics.
