Bartender two beers please! What a great Collaboration it looks great excited to see the lamp. We don't serve their kind here in the cantina but we will serve you from parts of them. Heading over to VanOaks now 😁👍
Nice! I wanna have a drink at the Smugglers Cantina someday! Also my very first DIY build in the tradition of making something out of nothing is a Blaster made from foam mats! Made it as a prop for my fan film project. Looks a Lot like Robocop's Auto 9. I will send pictures to you on Facebook when it's done! Your constant mantra of making something out of Nothing has become a huge inspiration for me in taking this project on. And for me that's no small thing so Thank You for doing what you do!
I love the in-universe implication created by the real-world re-use of that prop. The cantina owner who hates droids salvaged an assassin droid head and used it as some kind of piece of bar equipment. Almost any encounter you could have with an assassin droid would probably justify quite a bit of anti-droid bigotry. (Not to mention he's likely a veteran of the Clone Wars...)
@@TheSmugglersRoom you're welcome. I have a question what is Fat Bantha beer is it something you make yourself or is it something you buy and if so where do you get it from
I'd have to make mine dispense root beer. Have you ever tried brewing your own beer? Penny Arcade has a cool show called Acquisitions Intoxicated that delves into the brewing arts that's interesting to watch.
Not sure if you remember, but I reached out over Instagram regarding a cantina project! This video is an answer to my prayers 😂😂 I’ve already designed most of it, but I’m definitely taking inspiration from some of the techniques you’ve used!
@@TheSmugglersRoom if you’re looking for some room props to make it just a little more Star Warsy, I’d suggest looking into restaurant food grade barrels! Most places just throw them away after they’re empty and they’ve been used in countless sets in the original trilogy and in animation! The place I work let me have one for free and it’s a perfect addition to give that “in universe” feel :)
SO SO Cool! And to think all this time it was Carissa who was the brains and the skills of the operation! LOL JK What a team! You guys are great and very much compliment each other! Such a cool collaboration both videos were great! Cant wait to see whats next. And now I cant wait to get the old 3d printer going on these heads!
My thought with the IG head would be bubble tubes inside that are lit up, and whenever you pull the tap, it sets bubbles off. Don't know if theres enough room or gaps to make it worth while.
Awesome collab on this, and an amazing build so far! Not going to lie though, thought for sure you'd leave the face of the raised portion on the Fat Bantha pull logo as clear, so you could run a small LED into the pull stem for some illumination. Again, incredible build and can't wait to see how it develops further!
If you are having problems with your beer, it’s because once the beer leaves the kegerator it’s cooling down. So we run beer lines with a cooling line. This cooling line is called the glycol line, which is nothing more that a chilled environmentally friendly antifreeze. And yes there is a glycol unit that chills this liquid, but for a home application you might try a 5 gallon bucket with a pump in the kegerator to try to help with the foaming beer problem. I hope this help!
I love rewatching (listening to) your channel while I’m busy making bagels at work. I’m wondering if y’all have considered making scans and prints of Carissa’s sketches to sell in your store. I’ve seen several that I’d love to buy, frame and hang on my walls.
I just found your channel and I have been watching everyday. You are awesome. I am learning so much. I cant help but notice that when you cut PVC you use power tools most of the time. Please tell me that you are using the proper PPE and ventilation. PVC is toxic in a dust and or heated form. We dont want to lose a Sci Fi prop icon as yourself.
Love the collaboration. I have used the Van Oaks site for Halloween inspired designs and actual theater set designs. I have learned a lot from the smugglers room too. How do you keep the paint on the PVC from getting scratched off? Most items I have built I am constantly touching up because the surfaces are soo smooth. I feel like sanding them to rough them up is too visible through the paint.
Thank you Bradley! He certainly has some great tips for haunted and Halloween themes. You are right, PVC is definitely tricky. I didn’t show it in the video, but I do two things to “help” with the chipping; 1. I go over the surface with a 3m scotch brite pad. It roughens the surface without really scratching it like sandpaper does. 2. I seal the paint job afterwards, in this case I used Rustoleum Clear sealer with a satin finish. That builds up a bit of a hard shell. Even with both of these there is a chance of scratching, but they really help, and it lasts a lot longer. Hope that helps.
LOVE IT!!! Big star wars fan! My husband and I just started planning our own Cantina bar in our basement. Definitely going to be making these! Question! Did you design the tap handle?! It's amazing and I need it! Where can I get one?!
Love the channel and the passion. I have to say I was a bit disappointed that with the access to 3D printers you didn't make your own "plumbing fittings" to match up with the PVC pipe. Said differently, a toilet flange screams "Hey look, I'm a toilet flange" and there is no way to get around it UNLESS - may I suggest... You 3D print a Skirt or other greeblie to hide this well known fitting. I would strongly consider 3D rinting additional greeblies to conceal the sewer pipe look the off the shelf fittings give to this feature of your cantina. Not much work more and it could look great instead of neat. I know you have it in ya! Nonetheless I did enjoy the project.
Step bits are cool, but last time I used one it was on a hand drill and it snagged and put my wrist in a brace for a few weeks. Not the tools fault I just got to far from straight down and paid for it
