  • I have been a weeb for quite a while now and japanese anime voice acting still never ceases to amaze me. When I discovered seiyuu content, it was over, I knew I would never get out of this rabbithole. So since I'm stuck here, I might as well try and drag more people along with me, right?

Interesting, I knew Seiyuu culture was a thing in Japan, but I didn't realize even close to the full extent of it. This gives the upcoming 2.5D arc in Oshi No Ko a lot more context, too.

I know Tomoriru from something relatively more obscure - as the voice of Tomoe Tamao in Revue Starlight - and I had no idea she was such an accomplished musical artist. I always thought her voice was incredible on the RevStar OST, so I'm definitely going to have to check out her solo stuff.

31:02 Actually, there are some seiyuus that do start out first as stage actors before becoming seiyuu. I think it’s more common in male seiyuu than female seiyuu. Great examples are Mamoru Miyano (though he’s pretty much an all-rounder as a child actor) and Daisuke Hirose.
There are also bunch of times where stage actors also voice the characters they’re playing if the anime/game was also running stage plays at the same time.

I’m already deep down the seiyuu rabbit hole buddy. Been trapped at like the 3rd layer for almost a decade now. I’m not as deep as some people at like the 7th layer, but it’s comfy here. I will follow lots of different things my favorite seiyuu do, but not to a stalker-y degree (yet). If I lived in Japan I would be going to events and concerts all the time. I’m learning Japanese solely so I can engage with seiyuu content more smoothly

Being a seiyuu is like having to swallow Sukuna finger lol. Wrong step you will get the hate. Even rumors can ruin their career. Like Akari Kito back in 2021 that rumors she have boyfriend. She lost half of her fans before the rumors proven wrong. Only voice actors always want to burn whole career.
Only things matter is the voice, the face and especially STATUS. Married well you know. Single OH YES OSHI FTW. The voice matter when they voice one character and fans stick to them.
And oh im a fan of Akari Kito too lol. But not hardcore like someone spending 10K on concert lol.

I think it's different cause even though, they're technically still "voicing" an anime character, streaming online as a main career vs voicing actual products (anime) that air on tv are probably very different.
Also big vtubers probably make way more money lol
