i do not know actually if this tied to the lyrics. In the music video of Idol you will see the face of two sides of Ai. Its probably a metaphor like the other side is dark and other side is bright version of Ai. My other is what I think is that the right side is Ruby who is portraying Ai. The color scheme of the eyes is the same as Ruby's. Also in the manga, Ruby will portray Ai in the movie called "15 years of Lie" based on Ai's life. I thought this is a cool foreshadowing on that MV.
It would be so cool if Ruby manages to write a song for the movie "15 year lie" The song is aka Idol bc the movie is about a documentary about B komachi the the arrangement of the song it's what we will imagine in the documentary the first is the fans prospective then the members prospective and last is Ai's true feeling bc director Gontada when Ai was still alive as her a favor he would like to see the real Ai not the Ai covered in lies
I might be a bit late but the lyrics,' once again, theres somebody, who's fallen for the words and cue, made him lose his head over you!' it hits so much harder
"Showing things like weaknesses is no good, no good!" it most likely directed at Ai herself, and from what it sounds like, by herself.
Take a look at the IDOL MV when this like is brought up.

As some others have mentioned, I think "Maria" definitely is a reference to the Virgin Mary (Maria in most other European languages) because of Ruby mistakenly thinking that Ai had a virgin conception and she and Aqua never had a father in the first place. Plays really well into how Idols are worshiped as near-deities (just like Mary) and Ruby's Otaku-grade copium that her Idol is so pure that the only way she would have children is by virgin conception.
I really like how accurate you are in going in depth with the meaning behind the song "Idol." It's also very clear & easy to understand. I like that I learned a bit more behind this song. So thank you for sharing & please keep doing what you're doing because you're doing amazing! 😁

your theory is proven wrong in episode 2. its the father of ruby and aqua who encouraged and sent that stalker to Ai's condo. it was also hinted pretty obviously it was him in the lengthy first episode because ai went to a phone booth to call him and told him where shes staying if he ever wanted to see their children.
Well I will add on to my theory,the other idol bf the father of ruby and aqua,and so when that other idol found out that he was cheating on her, she dumped him and thought:that musty crusty dusty jerk,thinking he can get away with cheating on me with my biggest enemy.Later she decided that she would find on other person and have kids and teach her kids to hate Ai,but her kids did not listen and supported Ai and the other idol had ENOUGH.When her kids would mention Ai, the other idol would punish then and make them do chores.10 years later,then the other idols old bf came to her house,she said:I know you cheated on my with Ai.then he left, when the other idols kids got kidnapped by the entertaining industry,the other idol wanted to try her luck to try not to hate Ai,When she looked back on her past,she remembered:the entertainment industry was useing the other idols and Ai for money, she released that she and the others were not popular for a reason,bc their looks were not good enough,and the workers were useing Ai for money,and Ai lies for fans,at that moment the other idol found out what she has been doing wrong.

edit: also virgin mary contrasts well with the fact she has kids, and also the view point of the audiences is reinforced by the fact the line talks about dancing, singing, and generally what is seen by others.
I take this Maria drop as also referring to Virgin Marry, but for me, it means:
