I do gotta add a lot of the reason lesbians relationships tend to be very “pure” is because telling someone directly how you feel can be risky. I love the depht and intimacy, there aren't any straigth romances about how addictive is to kiss your partner during the first months and how more varied (and nasty) that kissing and caressing becomes, but in yuri is easy to find. It's also hard to find a well written, high quality straigth romance even OUTSIDE of anime/manga/ligth novels/visual novels that doesn't have some intense or traumatic drama, I don't hate it but I want ligth drama with good romance too.

Honestly I don’t think guys like what is actual gl, the real gl is in the manga, every anime adaptation is a bit watered down and wholesomafied, i think thats due to the stigma of females being show to have sexual attraction being seen as improper in society. So girls love is waterdown from real queerness to an acceptable form that the misogynistic heterocentric world can easily consume. I think that in yuri/gl manga, it’s mostly written by women (who most of the time i assume to be queer themselves because to actual lesbians (like myself) its obviously when a writer truly understands the queer experience, author gaydar i guess you could call it) whereas bl is also written by women, but from a voyeristic perspective (no matter how much a straight woman or even a gay woman, can learn to understand the experience of gay men and romance between men- there will always remain and outsiders perspective, and often that perspective is one stemming from fetishization.) Actually i think guys liking yuri is also fetishization, not in the explicitly sexual way that girls do for bl, but in a “idealized wholesomeness between girls”, its not real true queerness, its a fantasy. I am a boy and i agree completely with you. In my opinion the reason why yuri is so popular is due to the overaboundance of straight romantic anime which almost all the time results in harem situations or steretypes that have been too much explored. On the other hand yuri anime is still not so common and for this reason on average more enjoyable. Clearly there are also straighr romance anime which are good but unfortunately nowadays most of them have an "horribly" written male main character
Great points, but a lot of it could be done with regular anime as well... I do love quirky protagonists... However, there are two things I really dislike: 1) Fandom getting mad when two characters have a canonically straight relationship... (we even had artists and authors receiving death threats because of this madness!) 2) People definining $€X as sticking your D somewhere... This has real-life consequences! You can say what you want about people being cool with their partner cheating on them as long as it's not with another man, but where it really matters is when it comes to crime and punishment. Xual assault doesn't start with forcing a D somewhere, and even without any D involved, it can be pretty traumatic. I find it absolutely disgusting, that women get away with assaulting kids, just because they didn't have a D to use in that crime... Yes, they do get punished for other charges, but these are typically less severe!
and while the self insert romance mc's are dull yes but there are some actual good male mc characters in romances Sakuta from bunny girl senpai, Takeo Gouda(my love story) and recently added Kiyoka Kudou (my happy marriage)

So girls love is waterdown from real queerness to an acceptable form that the misogynistic heterocentric world can easily consume. I think that in yuri/gl manga, it’s mostly written by women (who most of the time i assume to be queer themselves because to actual lesbians (like myself) its obviously when a writer truly understands the queer experience, author gaydar i guess you could call it) whereas bl is also written by women, but from a voyeristic perspective (no matter how much a straight woman or even a gay woman, can learn to understand the experience of gay men and romance between men- there will always remain and outsiders perspective, and often that perspective is one stemming from fetishization.)
Actually i think guys liking yuri is also fetishization, not in the explicitly sexual way that girls do for bl, but in a “idealized wholesomeness between girls”, its not real true queerness, its a fantasy. Guys are attracted to sweet girls being sweet, they don’t want complicated girls being non-feminine/masc or experiencing real desire for another women, or women in general.
I think the biggest way to understand true queer characters and not true queer characters is asking this question: are they gay simply for this one person, or are they actually gay, as in they like girls in a general sense?
Like its never not gonna be weird for straight people to like “queer” content, because it’s usually not truly queer.
Btw im saying queer to mean like within the context of existing as a queer person as well as queer culture, experiences, queer existence, and the general way queer people are (by society) exist as outsider in a hetecentric world. Ok, here's the thing. You are right, all your points are valid and it makes complete sense. Oftentimes yuri doesn't portray what a relationship between two women is really like, it's not realistic and it doesn't try to show you what it actually feels like.
But the thing is, he is not claiming that's the case, in fact he clearly admits there's a lot of wish fulfilment and fantasy involved, that's why it's become a genre and that's why people like it. And that should be fine because at the end of the day, it's fiction, it's an escape, he's not saying that this is what it's actually like or anything of the sort, he is saying he enjoys yuri precisely because it's not that and that should be fine.

Shows like Bloom into You and I'm in Love with the Villainess demonstrate the impact of earlier works when you look at the art style, as both are pretty similar to traditional shoujo art. Yuri now generally features romantic developments and relationships that are written in a way that would be appreciated by both genders.
Of course, your video well captures the appeal of yuri towards men specifically and gets a thumbs up, but I thought I would point out that the yuri genre is often written for and consumed by a general audience, not just an expressly male one. There are ones that are directed towards a male audience, like Gushing over Magical Girls. But the development of the genre as a whole has tended to a more general audience. Yuri isn't like yaoi, which is produced and consumed pretty much exclusively for a female audience. Yaoi is a genre that is sexual in nature, but yuri tends more towards themes of intimacy and romance. That's also why yuri animes are consistently good: they have depth to them. MagiRevo has a beautiful depiction of love. Who wouldn't like that?

In my opinion the reason why yuri is so popular is due to the overaboundance of straight romantic anime which almost all the time results in harem situations or steretypes that have been too much explored.
On the other hand yuri anime is still not so common and for this reason on average more enjoyable.

Great points, but a lot of it could be done with regular anime as well... I do love quirky protagonists...
However, there are two things I really dislike:
1) Fandom getting mad when two characters have a canonically straight relationship... (we even had artists and authors receiving death threats because of this madness!)
2) People definining $€X as sticking your D somewhere... This has real-life consequences! You can say what you want about people being cool with their partner cheating on them as long as it's not with another man, but where it really matters is when it comes to crime and punishment. Xual assault doesn't start with forcing a D somewhere, and even without any D involved, it can be pretty traumatic. I find it absolutely disgusting, that women get away with assaulting kids, just because they didn't have a D to use in that crime... Yes, they do get punished for other charges, but these are typically less severe!
and while the self insert romance mc's are dull yes but there are some actual good male mc characters in romances Sakuta from bunny girl senpai, Takeo Gouda(my love story) and recently added Kiyoka Kudou (my happy marriage)
