I don't think there is a better job than being paid to drift a z06 and a viper all day
I think those guys were actually doing powerslides, since it looked more like sideways burnouts.
or trying atleast lol
Both of these cars are awesome and would be proud to have either one in my garage!
luv it when he finally understands the viper on the 4th round.
@chickenpax1 Actually the Corvette actually has a 51/49 weight distribution, they place the transmission in the back for balance and quicker throttle response. They also made it slighty biased to the front to aid in breaking so the front would dive more pushing harder onto the front tires. Trust me the Z06 is one damn good car to have when the road gets twisty.
It has faster lap times that the Ferrari F430, Porsche GT3 RS, Lambo Gallardo etc.. So what does that make them?
FEATHER THE THROTTLE DAMMIT!!! These are two amazing cars to drift if you know how to handle it nicely... the only reason you don't see them in many drifting shows is because although they are generally awesome to drift, the cost to repair them (or just have two of them), is mind boggling... and one bad corner and your team is out 100k
The viper sounds awesome
Both great cars. I recently bought my second Viper an 09. It has a bump from 600 to 630 ponies over the 08 and is running high 10's in stock form. The ZO6 is a sweet ride but compares to the Gen3 Vipers in power. The ZR1 is a better comparison.
It's nice to see them showing the trial and error process of really getting to know a powerful sports car.
More trial and error in the viper
Both cars looked and sounded awesome!
the z06 Def out handles the viper in all scientific tests.
TwinTurboLS9 I love reading comments posted by people who have know idea what they are talking about. Like you, lmao.
Chase Ventrillaquist Reynolds I love reading comments of people that can’t type words correctly....
Glad to see more than a "highlight" reel. Wish I could play on a track like that! Safer than ruining everyone else's day.
do you know which month it was? i'd like to look at that article...
I give these guys props trying to drift these monsters looks hard ass hell
that Viper is beautiful! I love this video, i come back and watch it like once a month! lol never gets old
Reminder to revisit the viper video :)
Reminder
Thanks for the vote of confidence.
I actually own a ZR2 which I get to use all year long in the climate that I live in, which makes my 4x4 far superior to any of these.
If given the chance to live in a single season climate this is where I'd start my search for daily driver.
see im only 10 but i love cars nd i was wondering....how do they lock the front wheels to do a burnout?
its not as easy as it looks give the guy a break u learn more about a car seeing how it spins out then you do watching somebody perfectly drift it every time. great vid!
@chickenpax1 What is wrong with a front engine layout? The vette has almost perfect weight distribution. Rear engine layouts have a number of issues as well. Esp cooling issues.
viper looks really stiff when cornering. heavy? how much those weight?
well i got a previously tuned ECU from mosler, running only 5psi of boost and the car has been running on this setup for almost 2 years now. i was thinking about upgrading to their turbo LS7 motor setup that makes amazing numbers, however all i forsee is more work and problems then im looking for, so stick with whatcha know is what i decided to do lol
Was this filmed in Tennessee?
It's always good to do research before you decide what you like.
I see a lot of people who just flame and declare that the car they like is the best while failing to provide valid reasons as to why.
It's good to see people who do their homework about this stuff.
Very nice video, thanks for sharing.
@Greendude33 then why can't they make a decent corner?
@Kela666666 I thought these were in another category, not muscle cars??
mabye if they put some one in the cars that could get it through more than one or two corners without turning it around, then it would be cool. What good is 600 horses if you can't keep it on the track?
omg my heart was beeping the whole time wdf! really nice!!!!! i want either of them cars thank you
How many tires did this guy go thru?
Very cool job. Badass rides.
Its been a while since I have driven a FWD car hard, I think my last FWD car I autoXed was my 89CRX SI(JR-Supercharged @ 7psi, 162whp)
Whenever I understeered, I gave the handbrake a little snap, and eased off the throttle a little. When Turn-in came back, I nudged the throttle back up to exit the turn.
Like you would expect, the opposite of what to do in a RWD car (tap main brakes while still on gas)
@TorinoBrothers can you even drift? or drive?
what is this drivers ed?
@Refort610 well if driven a z06...and u havent. And how come in all the videos on youtube the z06 will be way over 150 and still way ahead of the viper?
thats right the new acr has the ability to have those adjustments i forgot. its still amazing that these are factory cars that are doing those times. i don't know about the zr-1 time though. the 7:26.4 was the newest time that i saw.
does anybody know of a place like this in illinos by peoria
damn.. i love the sound the corvette makes at the end of the drifts
If this were a Mustang performance test track behind the scenes we’d be minus a few camera men at mid field.
Nice Report
its a v10 versus a v8?
Finally, someone know what there talking about. Thank you my friend.
The viper tends to win allot of drift competitions though. I think it is just learning how to counter act the slide before you spin out. I have seen them in drift competitions and they do very well
listen to that
1:56 to 2:04
OMG!!
what an awesome sound
waiting 4 gran turismo 5 to take a ride in it
thnx dude
awesome stuff, it's nice to see the screw ups.
the viper's future will be interesting. it has the same mpg rating as the EVO X and the RX-8. Which if you combine the 2.0liter and the 1.3 you still don't have half of the motor of the viper. I'd say goodbye to those cars.
I know this guy was all over the track but let me tell, you as a corvette owner and having driven a viper on the track ( a friend has one), these cars were not designed to drift. Both are a handful when you try to make them drift. I have learned the hard way that my vette is no where as tamed as my 240sx ( 352HP at the wheels). You can't pat the gas and literally let go of the steering wheel and she straightens out.
Well a lot of people can say what they want. I have owned lots of different cars and I have a Z06 corvette. I can tell you they are a lot of power and can loose control hitting the gas to hard going 70 mph on the highway. As for a comfortable car the Z06 is the way to go on things. The Viper is all out muscle. Not as comfy. The Viper can do corners and all really well once a person learns how to drive it. Just because some people can not drive the car does not make it a bad car.
@ltsnipe
Not sure what you mean by new age muscle, these cars? Or mustangs, challengers and cameros?
These cars are very capable drift platforms, but not as ideal as the popular Japanese alternatives because of the weight. Im sure cost is another big factor to take into consideration too, but heavy cars are less forgiving if you make a mistake.
Wow that looks fun!
@denley15 I'm not a professional driver but I have no problem drifting my car. It's just that tanks aren't designed to turn.
Did any of you happen to read the title where it says " behind the scenes"? Meaning these are out takes; the clips you don't put in the final cut. And besides have you any idea what its like controlling 500 plus rwh (yes these cars are severly under rated) with no stability control in the vipers case?
Both cars are badass, hard to pick which one you want.
Well why the hell don’t you just show it all? That was awesome!!
@DubLegends Would have never guessed.. Thanks for telling me that its diffrent driving in your car VS. a Viper.
love this video!! i know how hard it is to drift a viper...!!
I'm down but it looks like they could look over the vipers suspension again and i think its a bit heavier
can you do it? Didn't think so.
@ManyTailedFox best handling supercar? hahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
dude the viper looks so awesome at 0:50
This is reality. Unedited. The real story. Nice to see.
@chickenpax1
Not the Z06. It has a front-mid ship layout.
Love the V8 sound, but I also love the Vipers sound
The new C8 with the hopefully coming 6.6 LT2 engine rated at 525hp give or take a bit has put GM into the world class supercar territory.
A car with so many innovations that car beat a standard 911 for $80000 dollars.
Must have had some Aussie influence.
😉😉😉
How is this a versus??
I love how at 0:50 the viper looks like it just wakes up and unleashes hell
the z06 sounds amazing!
They're both awesome.
Testing CLASSIC American muscle looks like a lot of fun!
Just looking for a crazy angle for photographs I think. Fuck standing that close though
lol i like how it just cuts from the scene
@390fusion been in both my friend has the viper and i have a vette .
been in the car back in 08? lol......
didnt say it was a slow car pay attention when u read.
asu mare son unas super naves listas para descalibraras las chantas
I get to transport a Z06 today about 150 miles hopefully I'll have some fun =)
it looks like the viper is so hard to control, it's a beast!!
i dont think they were trying to get the drift but to get an angle of the car for the camera shots.
yeah they're a lot better than before. they used to wipe out all over the place on corners because of all that torque to the rear wheels and all the weight is at the front lol so it's easy to get the rear tires loose. it's better now but it still takes a hell of a good driver to keep on the track at high speeds
All my cars are on youtube videos or pics where are yours still on that wish list huh
i like both cars a lot push rod v10 sounds amazing and the vet looks sweet then there's the zr1 which is probably my fave car to date supercharged 6.2 ftw.
Difference here is, they have actually shown the re-takes. Nice hat.
Look it up, they both use the Tremec TR-6060 transmission.
I cant argue with you on that. the corvette has excellent balance, and so does a viper.
I'd get the Viper over the 'Vette, from a styling and rarity stand point. There's a lot of 'Vettes out there on the road, the Viper has more of an "exotic" feel to it because few drive em daily
funny how the corvette is just as tail happy when the unedited versions come out
absolutely man, i apologize, most people come on here and spout about things they know nothing about, i apologize for blasting you like that, i didnt see you for what you were. and im glad i was able to pass on some previously unknown information to a fellow gearhead. good luck with that mustang man!!
this guy has an awesome job
@WakelandCrew Good point
That's because the Corvette is supercharged. It is possible to get 800 horses out of any motor. However the question it raises is, How much and how often do you want to stop for gas? With horsepower comes lower mpg. The ZR1 has only 638 horses and gets 20 freeway mpg. If it had about 700 it would get about 15 mpg on the freeway.
The Corvette flies through the gears from a dead start. The Viper can't handle the turns, but the driver of the Corvette tries his best to make it spin out on the curves (actually jerks the wheel sometimes and other times has to floor it and make the rear wheels spin out of control to do this.).
@reverb478 I'm guessing you're the drift-master then?
tan perrones ambos carros
My cousin owns an '01 Viper coupe and i own a '98 C5(heads/cam/bolt-ons making 409RWHP) and we've driven each others cars. He's said flat out my Vette would have better traction and handling in the corners. His Viper is just to unstable to push it too hard. The brakes SUCK in it and make it shimmy when you hammer them hard. He's thought about selling it for a Vette. I love the Vipers looks but in overall practicality the Vette wins hands down & at a MUCH lower cost. Not to mention handle as well
@baja58 I agree... not used to that much power
@GOMBPRODUXIONS Where's Hugo Stiglitz when we need him?
@extracredit100 you can park a corvette next to a ferrari and a lambo and it'll look out of place whereas the viper would look in its place. Vipers just looks like an exotic.
How do I get a job like that?
Viper's chassis is as old as the Z06's, the Z06 has a 291 lb advantage to mitigate a good bit of the Viper's 95 hp advantage, and despite the lower weight the Z06 can't corner as well. The Z06 also has a lower coefficient of drag. The Z06 has featured improvements every year since 2006, mostly focused on rear suspension, shifter, and steering..
@dustin77382 the ricers?
The idea here was to do a U- turn, pure success!!!
Look at the two fastest production car laptimes around Nurburgring. Two American sports car icons. The Viper is first, the 'Vette is second.
Deux chefs d'œuvre de l'automobile 😊
I agree with Denka....those cars are drag race kings....nothing against the Viper but the Zr1 is the drag race king and spanks all other cars in its class including the viper
@UALHVY 2009 Dodge Viper ACR. 7:18* -- 170.04 km/h - Porsche 911 GT2 RS. thats at Nuringburgring. obviously the porsche was faster by right about 4 seconds. granted you are correct about the zr1, 7m26s. lets have one person drive these cars, because on the site im looking at, different people drive the circuit for the times.
