Rod Building - UnderWrap for Guides

  • I like to use underwraps for my guides for two reasons. First, I prefer to have my guide tied down on thread instead of the blank. Second, the rods I build have a very small diameter at the tip and having an underwrap makes it easier for me to tie on the guides. This underwrap has two trim bands, each is 5 wraps. The thread I am using is size A.

Like the way you layered the thread around the rod I've been trying to cut them first before going to next one. I'll try your way next time.

i can't believe how hard you've made that for yourself, watching the amount of buggering about was seriously agonizing,

I know I'm far from the best. Attempting to video was not easy for me. I lost track on how many times I started over.

@@thegnewguy we all have to start somewhere mate and we learn the more we do it,
i tape the thread past the guide and roll it down the blank to the mark then come back over the first thread to start the hold, then do the same for the next colour, but some wraps i cut a length of trim and tape it along the blank so i flip threads sooner.
im waiting on threads atm, ill try send you a pic when they arrive how i do it.
