- Bob Maddox the Rocketman Part # 2 building the twin Viper valveless pulsejet engine powered go kart. In this first part episode I'm taking a Craigs list go kart and mounting one of my revolutionary new instant starting diesel powered valveless lockwood type pulsejet engine producing 100 pounds of thrust and mounting it and all the necessary components on the kart. You can contact me for engine kits and completed engines at rrocketmann@charter.net or go to my website at www.maddoxjets.com.
Frigging Amazing starter!! I've NEVER seen anyone start a pulse jet with a single switch!! AWESOME!!!
How does he do it tho??
Well said..... NOICE.!!
I couldn't do it with 30 switches 🤪
I cannot get enough of that huge smile! What a neat and nice guy!!!
A fine build. I like its autonomy from outside start up assistance. Clean build with safety in mind. I like it.
Wow....Bob, that's an awesome go cart.....especially the red glow after it gets hot!!
I love the sound of pulse jets. They sound like FREEDOM!
You are more than amazing with what you do...WOW! You should be making space craft...what a talent!
WELL YOU ARE THE GREATEST PULSE JET BUILDER EVER!! Greetings from Sweden. From ages 15 to now i have always wanted a pulse jet engine but i dint get one until i was 50, it was an original unused valve jet from the 60. Your engines are so perfect tuned and well build also you have put both the ignition and the propane inlet in the perfect spot in the engines so you are able to start them with a flick of the switch, impressive and the answer to anyone how you did to make them start without air pressure :)
Just found your channel. Your videos are awesome brother! Just the content mixed with the way you come across are definitely a positive vibe! Keep on keeping on!
The drivers in the cars going past are thinking " Is my exhaust blowing". Great car.
Simple, comprehevsive and easy. Thats how you act in this video 👍
This dude is the type of mad man that I wanna gaaaannngg out with
The first pulse jet i saw was from Colin Furze years ago. This is a major improvement in the technology. Pretty awesome stuff.
I’ll say this they must be great for growing beards as well ,lol
9:50 "hee hee hee hee!"
indeed...
teach me oh, wise one.
Incredible man!!!! But definitely need one small modification - at the trailing edge of the heat shield above each pipe, weld or rivet on two of those long-tined barbeque forks, so you can throw on a couple of brats or maybe a dozen shrimp for a nice snack afterwards, lol ;?D
Rocketman rocks! I love people like this!
Bob , just sit back and watch the subscribers flow on in !!!! This content is definitely a winner . I find it so so very exciting to see ,hear , and I can confidently say that you're channel and subscribers are going to "go through the roof " 🤪👍. P.S " I had to instantly subscribe " !!!!! 10/10
I'm really enjoying this series. You make a great host!
Thanks captain, I'm the kid in the back of the class so no one will see me,so being the front man is not my style.
No oil changes, valve adjustments, just pure fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not much for climbing hills but flat out fun anyway.
Man that is crazy fun. Hello from Down under. Australia.
Un Pulso-karting qui pour si peut sa finirai par dépasser les 300 km/h en ligne droite et à longue distance bien sur! Merci pour le partage détonnant...
Get this man in school s much love from Scotland sir
These pulsejet engines that Robert Maddox design perfectly illustrate/demonstrate Newton's third law "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction".
I wish there was a way I could just build stuff. Looks so fulfilling.
EXTREEEEME METAL BENDING!!!!
Nice start 👏👏👏
The beard makes you look 10x happier.
Super cool. Congrats
Just amazing!
Hello Robert my name is Craig I worked for Eugene in the 80's I would stay at his shop in Hisperia for a week or so every 5 weeks an weld engine together for him. We build a 700 lb thrust engine it worked well if I find some pictures I'll let you know Eugene was a good friend .
That is one cool way to power all kinds of machines. Can you build one to launch a small airplane, say perhaps around 500lbs of thrust? If so what would its overall size and weight be?
Robert: Great simple build! There must have been something to the pulse jet design simplicity for one thing! Unfortunately the Nazis adapted it to the V-1 flying buzz bomb in world war 2 Amazing how advanced they were back then , no improved upon with the pulse jet rockets of today! I was hoping you would be able t test the cart out some place where you could real open her up! Maybe in another episode? This is the first of yours I’ve looked at loved the simplicity of the design and build. Some basic fabrication tools and skills and you have a jet cart! Although that level of go cart is not cheap ! But anything with wheels of lesser value would work! Hopefully with brakes! 🤣LOL . A home built coaster wagon like I had about 65 years ago would work! I’m 75 now should know better but I’d like to build one of these myself my background is fabrication , Automotive restoration, retired! Loved your video, will look at and follow more! Keep up the good work ! Regards Mad Mike S.
Fantastic,way to go man.
I love it and I Honestly think this is the first I have FINALLY seen a heat shield lol.
Would be neat if you had painted a bunch or really short white lines to make it look to be going faster and then pan out to reveal you are not actually doing Mach 3 lol
Great build sir!
Thankyou for posting
I’m subscribing
aluminium heat shield though ahahaha
Push start is awesome for a pulse jet.
Love your insant start
What ingenuity Rocketman!!
Would a full cage and more isolation from those red hot pipes be in order?
Nice! you can cook couple stakes after you finish your ride
Hey Bob, how well would this perform if the pulse jets were used in conjunction with a traditional petrol motor or electric engine? I'm thinking the pulse jest could be engaged on long straight runs for power boost and then the drive shaft powered motor for tight turns etc. Just thinking out loud!... KILLER BUILD MATE! I love what you do FYI
Yea it would work great! easy to put the engine around the piston engine and because it has instant start you can just start it anytime with the push of a button.
Nice work as usual! Its getting more elaborate!
This is the BOMB.
I would be placing a Grille and a Hotplate over those red hot pipes - a few Steaks / Sausages and Chops and having a moving BBQ. Pulsejet can probably suck-in the hot fat that drips from the BBQ and help to propel it along.
Just a "Buzz Bomb" on wheels. What would the Nazis of WW II think if they could see what the V-1 engine is good for now, LOL!!!
This is the Best wheeled car/go cart I have seen, but not the Fastest. Fastest pulsejet record I have seen is ice speeders doing 148 mph plus runs for top end Speed!!! Wow.
Push button start, with no fan, is a head turner. That is a perfect 10 on my score sheet, Very Cool.
So cool!!!
FANTASTIC!
Now work on efficiency and make it faster!
He's too busy launching himself into space trying to prove earth is flat.... Well he did buuuuuuuuut... Just google it
+1 for the _kick ass_ background music. Nice....
Excellent as always Bob.!
Thanks Tim.
Have you ever tried a heat exchanger coil in your propane fueled engines?
Awesomeness!
Pure genius! Hey NASA, are you watching this?
This is kinda what I end up wanting as a alternative from the combustion engine that I will put on my mini bike a dual setup for balance
That is so cool.
Magnificent !
you're nuts guy love it! wish I was that skilled :)
how does that instant start work without the likes of a leaf blower pushing extra air in? do you have to set a specific AFR via the solenoid?
There is a small leaf blower inside the tube.
That's friggen awesome!
When these things take off, I will be able to say I was there at the start.
Thanks! it's all about everyone having fun!
they're extremely inefficient and were used in ww2 with the v1 flying bomb
I just read an article about how much more efficient this is over turbine in a RC scale. So why so inefficient scaled up?
Hi bob Very goooooooood job.
Very easy and cheap when ya have a shop the tools and sheets of aluminum around lol but good job
Congrats on your successes. Pardon a newbie question but doesn't the walls of the exhaust give you pause when it turns WHITE HOT and weaken?
Now I'm like # 4300 for this video. I keep getting to be the even # like 😃💪
Robert,
I can tell that you really love what you're doing by your ear to ear grin. I've got to say that I hope that you get a chance to open that little "Buzz Bomb" up to see what it can do. Have you got your pilot's license yet?
Wish i found you sooner! But i love the beard now. Still wanna grow up to be like you
Nice looking aluminum welds on the seat. 👊
From the back I see flames coming from all 4 pipes, so which is the thrust and which is the intake? And why is there flame coming from whichever the intake pipes are? Those engines get so hot, does the whole apparatus ever just melt if used too long?
Ha ha, not they will never melt, the shot pipes are the intake but the thrust also comes from them, about 60/40.
Your the man
So whats the top speed???
What is the topspeed? Bloody awesome the electric instant start!
I'm from Australia and if I ever started one of these the cops would be there within minutes
No one:
@CommieBash: Unnecessary racism that proves he's disgusting pig
@@timbell4334 To bad he is right.
I gotta think about what those people on the hwy are looking at!
🖖😁
QUESTION.....YOU USE TWO 12 VOLT PUMPS AT 24 VOLTS DOUBLING THEIR OUTPUT SO YOU CAN MIST THEIR FUEL BETTER...BUT THEN YOU DROP IT INTO A SINGLE LINE WHICH SPLITS BACK AT THE ENGINE INTO TWO FEEDER LINES EFFECTIVELY DROPPING THE PRESSURE BACK DOWN TO A DOUBLE 12 VOLT PUMP PRESSURE AT THE SPLIT DUE TO MAXIMUM FUEL FLOW OF THE SUPPLY LINE....SEEMS IT WOULD MAINTAIN THE HIGHER PRESSURE BETTER BY RUNNING TWO 24 VOLT FUEL FEED LINES ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE ENGINES VS ONE..
Well, he lived up to his name Mad-Dogs 😁😁
I'll stick to a 6hp Briggs.
So funny, you are a genius.
love the music in your video, awesome build too :)
Hell Yes!!!
Adorei esse tipo de brinquedo
Are there any advantages to the u-shaped engines vs the “Chinese” type? I see you have experimented with both types and am wondering why you’ve chosen to go with this design engine?

Would that thing melt if you keep using it? It is cool.
Master...omg so Tyni fastt and Furious !!!🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🔥👌💨💨💨💨💨Cheers e 😎
I bet you can catch a roadrunner with that thing.
You gotta build high chamber pressure pulsejet man and use some high explosive mixture (rocket fuel)
The quick start system you built is awesome! What is the fuel consumption of each of those engines?
About 30 gal/h per 100 pounds of thrust, I know thats a lot but it's like a canon going off more than 100 times a second.
How much does each 50 lbs thrust engine weigh by itself?
15 pounds I think.
Excellent static thrust to weight ratio! (~_^)-b
@@RobertMaddox why not make one with 850 pounds of thrust
You’ve got crazy views to only have 39K subscribers! What does the black box control? It looks like you’ve moved away from the reed valves. I almost ordered some today. Is the horse shoe shaped engine better?
I can see heat is a problem....those tubes will get so hot I think they could burst open at some point. Welding cooling fins onto them or wraping a casing of radiator type core around them, should help?
Where did you buy the shifter kart and how much did it cost?
Robert you are one Crazy California dude. lol Just one question how many cars did you stop when you was driving that ? I love it my kind of life.
Well, I'm a Oregon dude! More than once I have had cars going buy when I fire up an engine and they pull over thinking they have blown a tire or something.
Well not exactly the performance I was expecting, but pretty cool.
You are the man
I'd like to make that up....👍👍👍
How neat would it be to see it semi liquid cooled to produce steam as like a boost 😆
Will it melt down if you run it too long? Looks damn hot!
It's crazy, I can see your beard anyway!
Hope he has a fire suit!
Whats the temperature of those engines sitting behind you ? 1500? Thats insane !
Just curious if these types of fuel pumps (typically inside tank mounted) depend on being submerged for some of their cooling?
Those type of fuel pumps are not inside tank mounted. They use pumps like those on Volkswagens with a Bosch injection constant flow system. They will produce well over 100 lbs with gasoline. This guy is looking for more flow volume im sure.
If you want a pileup on the highway, then try this at night!
cool choice of music!
I thought you were nuts to drive it w/o a helmet and leathers but it doesn't seem very fast. After watching it seems like a lot of work to go that slow but I'd still wear fire suit and helmet anyway, have firetruck on hand for the inevitable meltdown. The stock 125 shifter kart on methanol would be way faster unless my eyes deceive me.
Wouldnt the pulseengine run cooler on hydrodisel and give more thrust ?
We are about the same age 👍 had I not transitioned I could have been doing this 🤔😂
Rock on Bob! :)
A "super jet rocket motor " ?? Thats certainly stretching the truth!
