I'm a metal guy, more specifically 2000s metalcore type stuff. I've been programming the kicks to breakdowns this whole time! Literally could have used bandmate. Awesome content as ever mate. In depth without being too much waffle ❤️

The bit around 1:31:00 is similar to what me and Ken were talking about earlier this year, but in a strictly technically focused, mostly guitar oriented way. Like how the “downbeat” is almost always a “downstroke” but, especially when you write some of the goofy-ass riffs I had back in the day, some of them should have been an “upstroke” on that “downbeat” because of the escape motion needed for the next part. Pick-slant, wrist angle and forearm rotation are all part of that idea, but way too detailed to get into here 😂
Simply put, without taking those things into consideration, depending on your natural escape motion, the “pulse” that keeps you in time creates a tension and an energy that is barely discernible, especially at 200+ bpm, but it’s there.
Maybe that wasn’t simply put.. But it’s what can lead to a section of a song sounding like an exhale instead of an inhale. The inhale is the “I hope I don’t fuck this up” vs the exhale being relaxed.

Whew, ok. I was trippin when you asked "Am I trippin? That was some very Interesting "Trippin" I will definitely have to re-watch this video. I can see where this could lead to some very Interesting beats and Insperation for new material. Great video even If I gotta re-watch then give it a go
