Tip: you can drag the audio from Logic to your desktop, which will create an audio file. You can then drag that audio file from the desktop straight to the Bandmate in EZdrummer 3 (which can be an insert in Logic) :-)
@@qxHAGENxp Yes, my tip was specific for Logic 🙂 Ableton Live and Cakewalk are example of DAWs where you can drag audio files straight into EZdrummer 3 👍
You probably already know this now, but if you use your DI as the imported audio you will get much better results, especially for more complicated riffs.
Great video. I use Studio One Professional 5 w/ EZD3- Workflow is exactly like yours. Get a riff I like and bring it into EZD3-once I have a full song I will drag the guitar audio in and then select the song structure-ABAB for example. I'm either in 4/4 or 3/4 time. 99% of the time, after I import the guitar audio in-it spits out what I want to hear. Do I have to tweak the chorus or bridge parts-Yes, but the most important part is the song structure. Once you get a song structure you are off to the races!! Best regards on a great informative video!
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. EZ Drummer has made writing a little bit easier in terms of matching drum parts. Definite time saver on that end. Thanks for the comment as well.
Thanks for the video, Bill. I enjoyed it. Actually you can fix the snare part you wanted to adjust while you were in Bandmate Mode, but you have to drag it down to the Song Track first to get it to show up in the Grid Editor.
Ah. Thank you for that! Very helpful. Thanks for checking out the video and for the comment! I’m going to give that a shot when I use it next time. Much appreciated!
Great question. It shouldn’t be a problem. EZ Drummer also opens as its own application without logic or GarageBand and you can access it there as well. I don’t see why it wouldn’t open in GarageBand. Thanks for checking out the video, and for the comment. You rock!
@@BillLau Thanks for the response and the video. I'm really interested in this Bandmate feature for writing songs because it would take me forever to learn how to use the Drum software adding in parts one by one etc... Cheers 🍻
Thank you for the question. I felt like it went through all the pack options you have when considering a beat or an appropriate beat. It was just something I noticed when I tried it.
I use Reaper and have no problem getting a guitar part into Bandmate. But I have not idea how to get a second guitar part in there (-say, the chorus after the first part, which is an intro / verse section.) How is that done?????
I haven’t been able to do it like that either. I basically use it to find pieces and drop them into my DAW. I do my writing primarily in the DAW. I haven’t had a lot of luck using band mate for that stuff.
Does anyone know how you create your guitar file using Reaper to use with Ez Drummer 3 band mate? I can’t find any videos of anyone using Reaper with EZD3 any links would help a lot and be much appreciated thanks
Good question, the way it works for me is I create a guitar track in logic and dump it to mp3. Seems like a lot because it kind of is. I’m not sure if reaper would allow you to drag the guitar file into band mate without first making it an mp3. Kind of strange but that’s kind of how it worked for me. Some people using other DAWs were able to drag their tracks in from the DAW. I can’t with logic and I’m not 100% on reaper but I doubt it. If anyone else knows please feel free to let us know. Thank you.
It works in Reaper, but - at least on Mac OS - not per default. You need to configure your mouse behaviours so that one modifier combination for left drag on a media item is set to „open source file in editor“. That must sound like gibberish to non-Reaper users, but basically you customise what happens when you click and drag (with or without some key modifier like shift/option/command) stuff in Reaper (similar to how you can customise key commands in Logic, but for the mouse) and one of the available options is this. Not all plugins support it, but EzDrummer3 does. Weird thing is, it doesn‘t seem to work with MIDI directly from Reaper‘s arrange view.
I was close to buy the upgrade. But shortly before I was wondering if it could do old school metal as well? If not it would be money burnt for me. So how would the drums to a Slayer/Dark Angel/Possessed-etc Riffing sound via bandmate?
They sell different drum packs that have various drum sounds. I think the metal kit sounds pretty good. Honestly, you would be able to adjust the MIDI if you wanted more bass drum or cymbals etc. it’s very customizable. If you can think of a drum beat, it is programmable and possible. Might take a little practice. As far as sticking a speed metal riff into band mate…might be a cool thing to try out.
@@BillLau Yes I know that, thanks for the more detailed information! I have both the death metal and black metal pack and was able to use that for good for songwriting!
