  • A quick look at the new EZDrummer 3 BandMate feature. Today we will see if the AI is smart enough to match EZDrummer 3 BandMate with a Djent style guitar part. As you probably know, Djent guitar requires drums to line up very specifically with hits and rhythms, so this new EZ Drummer 3 Band Mate feature is going to be put to the test. This isn't a full review and demo of EZDrummer 3, but rather a quick look at a much awaited feature.

    Try chaning Follow "All Notes" to "Tonal Notes", this made the kick lock better with the rhythm of some of my distorted guitar tracks, but you'll get the best results using a DI guitar with no effects applied at all.

      What do you mean saying DI guitar can I just record straight in to ezdrummer 3 with out using a separate DAW program like pro tools or logic to upload my wav files ?

    • @MusicWithMarky
      @MusicWithMarky  2 года назад +1

      EZ Drummer doesn't record a guitar without a DAW. What's meant by using a DI signal is that the AI software has an easier time working with the "direct" signal that has no distortion or effects on it yet. That dry, wimpy guitar signal you get just plugged into your interface.

    Do you see yourself replacing EZ drummer 2 completely with Ez drummer 3 ? I have 2 but I am looking to upgrade and Ez drummer 2 has always been so good to me, 3 looks promising with these new features and upgrades.

    • @MusicWithMarky
      @MusicWithMarky  2 года назад

      Yes because I'm always using their latest libraries and kits. If I don't, I would be having to go on what I have for 2 and never any of their new stuff. This would annoy me if the price was very high, but it's really reasonable for all that give you.

    Came to see if EZ Drummer 3 could djent, stayed to see if it could djent, instead I feel like I both wasted my time as I never figured out if it COULD djent, and as though I developed a great attraction to really thin masculine zip up hoodies.

    • @leopoldbluesky
      @leopoldbluesky 2 года назад +1

      I think the conclusion would be that yes, it can djent, but you have to make it djent - much in the same way that a strat can djent, but you have to make that djent too. Doesn't make it worthless of course, but it needs some human encouragement.

    • @MusicWithMarky
      @MusicWithMarky  2 года назад

      Absolutely! I use the heck out of EZDrummer 2 and will continue to do so with this product. There are a few decent competitors out there for it but I don't think anything really compares when it comes to ease of use and having libraries of beats ready to go in all different genres.

    • @deeforty
      @deeforty 2 года назад +1

      @@MusicWithMarky yeah I have ez drummer 2, and I use it alot but this band mate feature seems amazing, is that as good as it seems? I appreciate your time dude, subbed

    • @MusicWithMarky
      @MusicWithMarky  2 года назад +1

      So, for me, I actually like the process of going through the libraries and finding beats because it ends up leading me in some writing directions similar to as if I was working with a drummer who was making suggestions. Otherwise I get caught into the same rhythmic and accent patterns all the time. But if I was looking to come up with something real quick I would absolutely use the bandmate feature. I think for just about any genre of music it's going to work quite well. The specific use in this video I wanted to test because I knew it would be near impossible. You just have to hand write every base it to match every guitar head and that kind of music and it's the only kind of music that's like that.

  • @Anshul1614
    @Anshul1614 2 года назад +2

    Maybe should’ve used a DI?

    • @MusicWithMarky
      @MusicWithMarky  2 года назад +1

      I did try that later. As far as I understand, it's working off libraries, looking for the most similar groove and going from there.
      For this style of music, you would need AI to know that every certain type of guitar attack gets a bass drum or you'd need a crazy number of libraries with these type beats.
      I'm guessing that as they put more add-ons on and the list of libraries grows extensively, that this AI is going to get ever more nuanced.
