    I've owned all the EZ drum sets. 1 was great, 2 made my presets from 1 sound pretty bad so it was rarely used and now 3. This new one has fixed all the 2 sound issues and more. The great sound is back and cranked up to a whole new level. My presets worked fantastic and the ability to get them even better sounding in the mix was so simple and intuitive. i was floored. Smooth operation, velocity control. midi import, play style, dynamics, humanize, fast and easy grid editor, individual outs to really crank up the outboard options, wow. In less than 10 minutes i just had to write this and congratulate Toontrack on hitting the mark and getting it right. Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I think it's worth it. At least for the library.
    I got it even as a SD3 owner. I was just curious about it.
    For edrummers it got this nice feature of remapping the incoming notes. And a nice improvement of the hihat engine. You should have way less artifacts.

      @@tommyhipper6696 I've been loving using EZ Drummer 2 with my Yamaha e-kit. I've even collected a bunch of EZX expansions and it really takes e-drumming to another level compared to using the brain's sounds. Much more natural and dynamic. Go for it!

    For me the grid editor is worth the upgrade ... I tap as closer as i can with my mouse ... and then go to the grid editor to snap it to grid and adjust and humanize ... and then i copy the parts to verse and chorus and then I use the dail feature to add a beat here or there to "fatten up the second verse and chorus and if the beats don't pop just right I jump back to the grid editor and move the beats around some it makes this very close to a live drummer to me. Band mate is good for simple stuff but i am less impressed with that but i am very used to a real drumer and being able make the drums hit the pocket so the grip is my freind.

    2:38 you could have done that AB Test with a black screen and without saying which sample is which. I didn't hear a difference at all. I also think that 50$/€ would be more reasonable, since the grid editor is cool, but basically every DAW (maybe not mapped) has one. Everything else is nice to have, but not really necessary or a huge deal.

    I saw the core library in EZD3 is larger but there's no metion of more grooves? Are there new additional grooves compared to EZD2?

  • @socialmeaslesinpartnership1252

    Pain in the arse. What I WANT to know is the display. That looks like EZ3 is a full screen presentation. The inserted EZ2 shown here is a much smaller thing and it's a problem. I have EZ2 in Reaper on Windows 10 PC and a Samsung large TV for the monitor. This isn't small but EZ2's screen upload is wretchedly, annoyingly, stupidly and unchangeably only about 15% of my screen. Whatever banana-head signed that off as "OK", if Toontrack have one thing to change, it's this - make it LEGIBLE!
    DUH!
    If EZ3 has changed that, it's worth the upgrade for me. The add-ons look very good too.
    Thanks for a nice, clear video. You might have saved my sanity. EZ2 is a great programme but I hate using it because of the stoopid display size. Thanks!

    I recently purchased EZ Drummer 3! But I miss the sound of EZ Drummer 2 core pack. Will I get that for free or would I still pay for the pack? To my ears EZD2’s pack is more pleasing and preferable to my taste of music production. EZD3’s pack is huge but I’m still unsure of the sound. Yes it sounds raw enough to apply more efx later on the process. But I kinda am looking for the more processed sound like EZD2 Used to offer for me. I hope I can get some answers! Thank you!!!

    If I'm using EZD as a plugin in a DAW (Logic X) could the EZD3 Bandmate feature "hear" my other tracks or do I still need to drag and drop audio into EZD for analysis? Regardless, I've found Tap2find frustrating in version 2 so I'm hoping the new Bandmate feature in 3 produces better suggestions for me.

    • @MonsieurVersatile
      @MonsieurVersatile 2 года назад

      This was my thought too. If you have to bounce out a track or full mix then drag back in, seems like an unnecessary PITA. Has it not got a 'listen' feature like on a compressor sidechain or something? The only real reason I can see myself upgrading is the new ability to map the EZ3 sounds to new midi notes. I do this constantly in Addictive Drums to use it with pads and you simply can't do it in EZ2.

    Hey! Is there a way to monitor a Logic drum set VST by using an Alesis drum amp instead of monitoring what I'm playing through headphones? That would be cool if that's possible! I just want to be able to hear the VST sounds in the room using the amp instead of the module sounds of the Alesis kit. Thanks a lot! :)

  • @Frontier2000AnoDomin
    @Frontier2000AnoDomin Год назад

    Great vid. It looks like the sounds in EXD 3 might be a little brighter because the overheads channel is being sent out a little hotter than in EXD 2. Even though the mixer may appear to have the same volume, that doesn´t reflect what Toontrack are doing internally. This might be a little bit of a problem if you open an old project in your DAW and decide to "upgrade" the MIDI drum channels from EXD 2 to EXD 3 as you may now find the drums too bright.

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  Год назад +1

      EZ Drummer 3 doesn’t replace EZ Drummer 2 if you upgrade so if you open an old project it will still have EZ Drummer 2. If you wanted to try EZD3 then you could set it up separate and A/B if you like.

    I'm just wondering why I can't figure out a way to use an e-kit and change the triggers used in Ezdrummer 2 just as I can on the kit module. 😡 Read that you can change the midi mapping but can't find any options for that in the app. You can change a cymbal to a different cymbal, a tom to a different tom (only by: really high, high, mid, low, and really low pitch...etc) but attempting to change any voice to a totally different pad is ridiculous/not even possible? With the expansion for my e-kit, I've opted to use both ports for cymbals but can't change the 'tom 4' on ezdrummer 2 to use a cymbal voice. Does anyone know what I am saying? Seems like you should be able to pick any voice/sound you want for each pad/trigger/hit???

    Can the core libraries from ez drummer 2 be used in ezdrummer 3? If so , is it just a matter of copy and pasting EZD 2 core libraryand midi to EZD 3's core library folder? Or, do you still have to install EZdrummer 2 along with EZD 3? I ask because I had programmed a lot of songs with EZD 2 and If I upgrade to EZD 3, will EZD 3 recognize those patterns and kits? Thx.

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  2 года назад

      Yes the the old core libraries can be used in EZD3. If you upgrade, you do not lose EZD2. It’s still on your computer but you gain EZD3. So it won’t mess with any of your older songs that you’ve used EZD2 on. Also you won’t need to move core libraries or anything. EZD3 automatically picks them up. So it’s a very easy process to install and use.
