Jinger is from Ukraine. Singer Tatiana is a vocal athlete extraordinaire. A vocal goddess on stage. Influenced by jazz, reggae and Gwen Stefani. The drummer Vlad is a classically trained pianist. There is a video out there of him playing Rachmaninov from memory. When he joined the band, lead guitar Roman and bass guitar Eugene ‘upped’ their game, forming three of the best instrumentalist out there. Lots of women in metal now. Tatiana primarily uses a non-tonal harsh vocal style, so it sounds super low, but doesn’t really have any tonal movement to it. Others, like Courtney in Spiritbox have a tonal harsh vocal style, so you hear their natural voice and tones coming through. Both very cool techniques, and one is not better than the other, but the non-tonal definitely gets more shock value because people don’t understand how it’s done and that with the proper training and technique, they could do it too.

Jinjer and Arch Enemy toured Europe together before the pandemic. Alissa and others in the band are vegans, while Tati is not a clean-living person. They are from the eastern parts of Ukraine and it is almost 10 years since their home was invaded by Russia (the war now does not start in February 2022 but already in 2014) so they were internally displaced in their own country even then and they have made a song I like from the ones with the theme of "Home Back" which is a song you have to do (their songs are worth reading the lyrics after them it's easy to miss something if you just listen)
Stop with that Tatiana narative. Tatiana no longer drinks, she likes Smoothies & Tea. When at home she eats Vegan, when on the road she eats the Pescatarian diet. Tatiana also runs you can find a video on youtube of her running up Runyan Canyon in LA where she live with her husband Alex Lopez. I myself don't care for the screeching how do you find it funny that a soft voice can do that . Hope she don't hurt her vocal cords.i think I seen her do a song the other day not so much screeching.
There's no damage because it isn't coming from her vocal chords. That's called "false chord" screaming/growling. The false chords sit above the actual vocal chords and extend over the vocal chords when you swallow to help keep food from going down the wrong way. Singers who learn that technique learn to control those otherwise involuntary muscles to make sound. It's not for everyone but it is part of the genre.

The first time I heard this kind of singing (?) was with this video. I finally found out why there were so many reactions to this song. Shock value. Next time I came across a growler it was in a male group and they called it death core metal. It is a mystery why anybody likes this kind of music. I myself don't care for the screeching how do you find it funny that a soft voice can do that . Hope she don't hurt her vocal cords.i think I seen her do a song the other day not so much screeching.
There's no damage because it isn't coming from her vocal chords. That's called "false chord" screaming/growling. The false chords sit above the actual vocal chords and extend over the vocal chords when you swallow to help keep food from going down the wrong way. Singers who learn that technique learn to control those otherwise involuntary muscles to make sound. It's not for everyone but it is part of the genre.
She been doing this for 20+ years her vocals are just fine.

Good old music when pitch correction wasn't on the scale. They pitch corrected Tati's vocals in here like they do with everyone nowadays.
The first time I heard this kind of singing (?) was with this video. I finally found out why there were so many reactions to this song. Shock value. Next time I came across a growler it was in a male group and they called it death core metal. It is a mystery why anybody likes this kind of music. I'm subscribed but I'll just skip the metal reactions.
