    Nice to see another CA gun RUclipsr. I just bought a Remington express tactical with that same furniture you have but with a extended magazine tube or I guess a different kind of barrel and magazine tube clamp, I guess it was old stock.

    I own one and it's a good buy in my opinion the Remington 870 tactical is my favorite shotgun sure Benelli and Mossberg has more rounds and they are just as reliable but it's just something about the 870's smooth action👍👍

    Definitely want a 870 but I’m definitely gonna add one to my collection but I’m planning on getting a Mossberg 590 Mariner 20” before first

    I see in another video that you replaced the stock furniture with Magpul. Good choice. It's a nice hybrid between a standard stock and pistol grip IMO. I've put that on both my Remington 870 and Mossberg 590A1. My Remington 870 Tactical is from just before they went bankrupt. There were some quality issues sadly that I was unaware of as I got the weapon mainly on name recognition (I should've done more research). For home defense or range time use, the finish is adequate but if you take it outside and expose it to rain or humidity, I've heard they're prone to rusting (I put Cerakote on mine). Also, the extractor on mine was a cheap MIM (metal injection molding) and I was having occasional failure to extract issues. I swapped it out with a machined extractor from Volquartsen (found it at MidwayUSA IIRC) and that completely solved that issue and the shotgun has functioned flawlessly ever since. Hopefully the new Remington (now called RemArms) has addressed these quality issues. I hope you enjoy your new shotgun.

    are police version fired before selling? Because I just got mine when I check the bore it looks like it has been fired

    • @FRESHFROMTHERANGE
      @FRESHFROMTHERANGE  5 месяцев назад

      I did not have the same issue. That said, the police version of the 870 shouldn’t have been fired before purchase. No wear should have been accumulated.

    I wonder how the new ones will compare. you got the last of the old stock (Remington box and paperwork) not the new RemArms branded stuff.

      very good observation, you are the first to ask me about Remington becoming RemArms. While looking around the net I came across this site hopefully it sheds light on your question.

    Have there been any upgrades or changes since they declared bankruptcy? I heard prior there were a lot of quality control issues.

    Two questions: How does Smokin Barrel pricing compare with Turner’s stores? Prefer not driving to Simi from OC. And how do the 870 Express models compare or differ!

    • @FRESHFROMTHERANGE
      @FRESHFROMTHERANGE  2 года назад

      Really good questions. First pricing varies, they usually have good prices competitive to turners also tax here is 7.5%. Turners can have raised prices just like any other gun shop so I would call first they will lay down pricing. Remington the company has now changed to RemArms due to the buy out. I’ve seen many people saying quality has changed I was lucky enough to get a Remington OG box and reg parts. But this site lays out all the differences. My tactical mostly for home defense with the front bead sight.

      There are nightmarish reviews on the Remington 870 express get a Mossberg 500 instead it goes for the same price. Remington's quality control has gone down the gutter.

    • @russjohnson5443
      @russjohnson5443 2 года назад

      @@PerceptionVsReality333 - Seen that; but when it changed and why are important to know. My 870 Express Field 28” barrel was bought back in 2014 from a major nationwide sporting goods store (Dick’s for a great price) and has a forged steel receiver unlike my brother’s tactical Mossberg. Both have upgradable parts but my “Express” didn’t come with a wood stock.

    18 in barrel or 18.5?
