00:00 🔧 Converting an Epson EcoTank printer to a sublimation printer requires careful consideration.

04:40 🧼 Regular maintenance, including cleaning the printer heads, is essential for consistent sublimation printing quality.

Hi there! Welcome to sublimating. You're going to have so much fun. 🩷 As for ink, I personally like Hiipoo, but there are other brands. The most important thing is to choose a brand and stick with it. Don't swap once you've chosen as the ink pads will absorb the ink and you'll never get them clean again. Thanks so much for crafting with me and happy sublimating!!

I bought used printers and converted to sublimation. I also converted printers used for sublimation and changed them back to regular. I purge printed the old ink out on regular Walmart copy paper. Then purge printed the new inks in. The printers don’t know the difference so just refill with whatever ink you choose and print.

I was so stoked and purchased it without another thought so I didn't even consider if I could convert it as a used printer.... Im going to absolutely try to purge print with this. I don't mind wasting a full round of sublimation ink if it means I can use it once I've purge printed!

Hey there! So I'm not completely sure I know what you're asking. If you want to print normal items, not sublimation items, then use the ink that comes with the printer. If you want to sublimate with the printer, then use the sublimation inks, like Hiipoo Sublimation Ink. Unfortunately you can't do both. Once you use one ink or the other that's it. You can use Hiipoo Ink with all the Epson Ecotanks (before Epson ink is installed), but I'm not personally familiar with the I3250

What is everyone’s favorite Ecotank? I was thinking of getting the 2850

Hey Alyson! Mine is a ET-2800 and it's on Cyber Monday deal today for $199 amzn.to/3uvsA4h The 2850 is $249. I chose the 2800 for the price and because I don't use the other features. Only the printing. Hope you make the best choice for you! Happy crafting! 🩷

Sorry I absolutely disagree with you on the paper. I use normal Typing paper and there is NO difference at all between that and sublimation paper regarding quality and grabbing the ink

Thanks for sharing your experience Erna! I've not found the same result with my copy paper, but maybe you have better paper than me. And that may be an interesting test to share in an upcoming video. Thank you for the idea and for crafting with me! Happy sublimating! 💕

@@ernabruwer5730 I’ve noticed a huge difference with a sub paper vs reg paper.

Hey Kim. Thanks for the great info. I did find a mega cost cutting gem from Dyepress. They have the coating for making tiles into coasters etc. They recommended the Staples Multi use paper. This works beautifully. I bought a sawgrass years ago and love it but they will sabotage their machines make you buy their sublimation ink which is not only expensive but inferior to even the $17 for 4 ink refills. I wish they wouldn’t be so greedy with their inks. I love the machine otherwise.

You can replace the ink pads to extend the life of the printer, this printer should not be thought of as a throw away concept. Thanks.

Hey Bob! I called the manufacturer when mine died in hopes of just that option, but was told that the ink pads were not able to be replaced. They said that their commercial printers had that option, but not their less expensive home office printers. I hope you're right and they've made a change in the last few months but I fear the average person like myself isn't getting that advice directly from the company. Thanks so much for watching and happy sublimating!

To Kim @@KimByers Hi there, you're correct, unfortunately a lot of modern manufactures have one foot in the stone age & one hand in your pocket and have the least concern about dumping 90% good equipment in landfill. I don't know your printer but I've had to, as a last resort, strip down several printers and solve problems that the manufacturers were not interesting resolving. If you don't have the time maybe you know a local techy or engineering student that could disassemble and reassemble specific parts of the printer, though everything is time & money. If you are making money it might force you to go up-market for a proven professional printer, like everything they are not without there own idiosyncratic problems. Cheers.

Thanks Bob. In my old neighborhood I had someone like that but since we moved no techy for us! Happy crafting and here's hoping my next printer will last longer! Best!

Go to advance settings and switch the density to -10 or -15 then you will not get pizza cutter lines or smuges. You should seal the printhead with silicone. You can see how it is done on you tube videos. The printer should last a long time.
