Hey friends! Thanks so much for watching... Be sure to leave a comment letting me know which life hack is your favorite! :) Here is a link to the full supply list: ldli.co/e/x5j714 and blog post: bit.ly/2MUxmSF
Great hacks, Simon, thanks. Instead of squeezing the paper when you apply the heat, hold the word by putting the tweezers inside the loop of one of the letters and squeeze the tweezers just till the letter tightens up and will hold, then heat away. It does work.
I loved how you handled the glitter going all over. You should such calm under pressure - as you stated you are not a fan of glitter. The several layers of embossing powder were great. The purple tape as a handle too.
Great video! My favorite was the demonstration of the difference between heating from the back of the card vs. the front. I've heard about doing that to prevent warping the paper, but this really showed how sharp it makes the image. Thank you Simon for another great video!
You just kind of mentioned it in passing, but I like the idea of embossing the top of the embossing powder lid so you have an example. I’ve never thought of doing that.
For those in the UK/EU, Simon's products are available over here in the UK, so no need to pay heavy shipping, and custom's fees. As there are a few retailers selling them, do a google search to find the one that suits you best. Simon, my favourite hack, was using a box when using the glitter spray! Hehe! But seriously, the one using masking tape was helpful for me, as I knew about the others. TFS. Julia, from the UK.
You are absolutely delightful Simon! I'm so happy to have discovered you on RUclips! Thanks for your enthusiasm & fun ideas & that brilliant SMILE! Youve made me smile & feel happy again, and that is such a gift. I hope you are well & life is good! Hugs from San Francisco! 💕xoxo
Loved this video (I love all of your videos). I think you are a gifted young man. I watched it with my 13 year old granddaughter and she oooh'd and aaah'd throughout it. Thanks for the multiple embossing hack. What a great idea.
Great ideas, Simon! I, too, like to begin my heating on the back of my project. Not only does it help the embossing powder to stay put, but it helps with warping on the cardstock. TFS!
I liked where you added glitter and a second colored embossing powder! Very cool! I also liked the heating from the back tip! 😀 Thanks for sharing your hacks with us!
The purple tape was a great idea! I usually use the tweezers hack so not to burn my fingers. Just new with embossing. Still experimenting and filming my projects so I can remember my own mistakes and experiences. I just realized now being new in youtube how hard it is what you do. Keep up the good work!
One tip I'd like to add is when embossing light colours on darker cardstock use an alcohol marker to cover up any stray specks.....the specks are still glossy but not really noticeable.
I love seeing these, (and would like to many more please) of these hacks and also some basic techniques for card making cause I’m new to this. I love watching you, but please show us some basic techniques for us newbies, please, please 😊
My favorite hack was using the gel pen and heat setting from behind. Now I know why my embossing is so messy. Love your tips and videos. Been following your channel for a while. I was very happy to hear about your own line with Ranger. Hope to find your products easily available in Europe.
Can’t wait to try heating from the back on black! Makes sense 😉 I love the thanks with lots of layers of embossing powder...I’ll be trying that one too! Thanks for the tips!
Great video! Your "life hacks" will help me address multiple problems I've been having as a heat embossing newbie. (I'll be buying the eraser ASAP.) Many thanks!
Hey simon you are amazing card maker, always with so cool and easy life hacks which are really helpful All the hacls you showed were awesome but my favorite was using matt adhesive for creating matte embossed images Never thought of it Tfs
I am watching this video in September 2021. I like finding inspirations to watching thigns I have not seen before. I see the metallics make a striking embossing, that would make any card pop :)
I use an old griddle if I know I'll be heating from the back. I can put on several layers or glitter and it melts instantly with no mess- also you can apply multiple colors of embossing powders for a fun look, no need for embossing ink. Also, It's great to impress a stamp design into while it's very warm. 17:48
If you have a shaker jar for enbossing I think that would give a nicer disbursement of powder over the stencil. Not so blotchy looking. I haven't used stencils much but bought some recently. I like the idea of using them for embossing.
If your embossing ink isn't sticky enough, add glycerine to the pad. That's all it is anyways. No need to buy anything other than the glycerin that will last you for, forever. Get large bottles for less than retail stores sell 5 Oz on Amazon.
Loved your ideas, particularly during down the shine, I did not know that so that’s new to me. Another thing you can do is add texture to your molten embossing powder by way of stamping into it, ideally you would multilayer your embossing powder or use an ultra think embossing powder as you did in you thanks die cut example. Once you have thick enough, before you melt final layer, prepare your texture, ink up a stamp of choice, it can be an image or a texture type stamp, with an embossing ink and once ready heat up your final layer and before it cools press the prepared stamp into the molten powder and allow to sit until the embossing cools...you can then pull your stamp away. I’ve also done this using embossing folders, inking the positive side with embossing ink and just folding over the molten piece - no need to roll through any sort of machine, fingers are perfect. Embossing ink being , your perfect medium, ver Samar’s or any sort of pigment ink. Hope I’ve made sense...have fun trying it out 🤣🐬🇦🇺

What alternative can we use for heat gun
Love how fast you are in speaking and doing, never boring right to the point!
Great hacks, Simon, thanks. Instead of squeezing the paper when you apply the heat, hold the word by putting the tweezers inside the loop of one of the letters and squeeze the tweezers just till the letter tightens up and will hold, then heat away. It does work.
Absolutely love the purple tape hack, and the heating from the back hack! Never would have thought of those!
I liked the embossing on stencils, filling in missed embossing with gel pens & heating from the back of the card. Thanks, Simon. 😃
I loved how you handled the glitter going all over. You should such calm under pressure - as you stated you are not a fan of glitter. The several layers of embossing powder were great. The purple tape as a handle too.
The white gel pen was a great tip!!!Using a magnet to hold down a die cut while the glue dries is awesome.
Great video! My favorite was the demonstration of the difference between heating from the back of the card vs. the front. I've heard about doing that to prevent warping the paper, but this really showed how sharp it makes the image. Thank you Simon for another great video!
Thanks! Yes... heating from the back does wonders for embossing. :)
You just kind of mentioned it in passing, but I like the idea of embossing the top of the embossing powder lid so you have an example. I’ve never thought of doing that.
Yes! That is SOOOO helpful to see the true color. :)
I loved the hack where you added the glitter and green. I hadn't seen or heard of it before. Thanks so much for sharing all these tips.
I LOVE how you held down the die cut after gluing with the magnets! I usually just find something heavy to set on it but this is a great hack!!
Very helpful and concise tutorial! I love the idea of embossing over and over to get the thick look.
Thanks for the ideas, Simon! I liked the idea of using several layers of embossing powder over words to make them thicker. Your card turned out great!
thank goodness you are interesting and educational to listen to, unlike many others. Great tips.
