Tip from a traditional parchment art enthusiast; rub the back of your vellum with a tealight before embossing. It helps condition the parchment/ vellum, before you stretch the fibres when embossing. It also helps the embossing to stay white longer or it will fade to grey, especially if you use a machine instead of embossing by hand, where you gradually stretching the fibres over a couple of days.
Some people also use a tumble dryer sheet between the die and vellum or cardstock to help release the small pieces as well, but I find they trigger asthma attacks.
Wonderful tip on using a plain piece of card stock under the vellum when using the embossing folder!!! Results: two card fronts with one go on the Big Shot👍
Great idea! I love working with vellum! You should also watch Scrapbooking Made Simple's latest video where she layers ink and embossing powder after embossing with a 3D embossing folder to create a surface that looks ike glazed ceramic!
Thank you, I haven’t seen that, but I’m going to bet she used clear embossing powder, it gives a beautiful glass/gloss effect, you can also try with any translucent powders. 🥰🥰🥰
These are sssooooooo pretty. I almost screamed, "no, don't color the white cardstock," then thought "oh, heck Marion knows what she's doing." I have to learn to trust you more.😉 I love vellum and will be trying this with the 2 3D embossing folders I own. Thanks.
Now, this is jolly useful! As a crafter of many years (more than I perhaps care to remember 😂), these are the little revelations which I find SO useful. Thank you so much, Marion! Kind regards from Germany, Nicola
My two absolute favorite things - vellum and 3D embossing folders!🎉 And the inking is so gorgeous. I cannot wait to try this out in the morning. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome tips!❤
Wow, those are absolutely gorgeous! I didn’t have good luck with vellum a while ago, so just quit! Thank goodness there’s some smart people out there! Did you notice the storm you created with the pancake maker?! Everybody has one now! You’re a really clever lady, Marion! Thank you so much for all your lovely projects that you share with us! Erica❤
Oh WOW! A "2For!" You are clever. I don't like wasting vellum & yes, it split on the machine & I had to ditch it. Can't wait to get some "ME time" to give it a go! Thank you Thank you!!🥰🦘🦘💐

I’m a registered traditional parchment craft tutor. Use a dry waxy tumble drier sheet to condition parchment. Useful for cardstock too.
