My son loves to watch me melting embossing powder. He said the same thing it's so cool mom and it relaxes me for some reason. Just a note this man is 30 years old 😊😂... Absolutely wonderful tip I appreciate this video so much thank you for sharing. 💖
If you are using stick glue or double stick tape with a chunky powder, press the card into the powder. You can even arrange the powder on your surface to pick up more or less of whichever element. After your press just sprinkle over the top to fill gaps.
I’m so glad I found this video! I think I will try diluting acrylic gloss medium. If it works, it could be applied with a dabber, paint brush, needle nose applicator, etc. You might even be able to soak a sponge and load your stamps with it…. Also, I wonder how Posca pens would work? (For any of the acrylic mediums, it’s important to wear a mask or ventilate your room adequately, as acrylic creates toxic fumes when heated). Thank you for sharing your great ideas!
Thanks for this video. I have some multi coloured embossing powders and rarely use them. I'd not thought to make card backgrounds with them. Now you've inspired me, I'm going to give these techniques a go. Tfs x
I enjoy so very much always watching you videos and techniques - BUT MY FAVORITE part is the CHEER AND POSITIVE IN YOUR VOICE. such a pleasure to see and hear smiles, cheer and positive attitude these days.
Gerry, this video was soooo helpful. I have stamped for years, but haven't really thought that much about the embossing alternatives. Lots of food for thought. You are sooo creative. I want to thank you for your video and all the time you put into development and making them. I know you will come to us with a big smile and happy attitude. Want to wish you a wonderful holidays. Looking forward to seeing you in 2022.
thanks and you're welcome, I have one more planned for this year coming Friday, lot's of fun filming and it turned out quite goofy😉💖 Have a wonderful Holiday!
So cool. I've been playing with mixing embossing powders with mica powder or other embossing powders to make paper look like old metal. I need to try these techniques too.
@ you’re welcome! I haven’t used my embossing powders yet but I’ve seen other artists heat from the bottom. If you give it a go, I hope you enjoy this tip. Happy creating!
My clear pad dried out as I have had it for years, maybe used it a couple of times. I put glycerine on it, but way too much evidently, so my attempt at embossing a stamped image was a complete failure! I definitely needed this tutorial! Thank you :D
Thank you so much for this video! I’m always a little hesitant to experiment with our craft supplies but since watching this video, I’m getting out all my powders and play using texture paste instead of ink! 😊
So fun and creative! I love to watch it melt, too! If you get your gun hot, you can heat the water technique from the back so it doesn’t blow off. Some of the other mediums might be too thick to melt the powder from the back.
Thanks for sharing, I never do that I find it too fussy, lol😉And my paper warps so easily that way, I am quite brutal, if it doesn't want to stay then it should go😆
Thank you very much for this video I had these questions recently and being very new and not having had the opportunity to work with embossing powders before found this extremely informative. Thank you
yes, I know, but I find that so annoying as you have to hold the paper, and it warps more easily. But it's definitely a great way to keep the powder in place, tfs
This popped up on my Home Screen today, so watched it for the 2nd time , and what a great reminder! Also I had an idea pop into my head about the glue stick I’ll try - to pencil a shape then use the glue stick over it … I’m thinking that drawing someone’s name and then embossing over it could look really cool for a personalised card.
Awesome video exploring creative ways to use embossing powders… I do more art journaling than card making so could see some journal pages come to life in my minds eye. Thanks for sharing your time, energy and creativity with us. Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂
Thx so much, I have a couple of embossingpowders I hardly ever use, that will be amazing with some of your ideas, thx so much 4 the inspiration, got even more ideas for them by watching your video 👍
Beautiful puppy! Cute techniques! One way you could stop blowing embossing powder around is heat it from the back then move to the front to finish. Great video! Tfs.
thanks💖 yes that's a way to make the powder melt, tfs I don't like the fuss with melting the back and then the front, you have to hold it and my paper always warps, fingers burned, pffft, lol😉
Gerry, these backgrounds are so lovely, but I wonder what can be done with them next? Do you have a video showing the next step to making them into a card?
No video on that😉 Backgrounds that are a bit busy or have loads of interest will do with a simple sentiment, in black or white for contrast. You can add that on a tag or over a piece of vellum to make it more playful
Hi. I am starting to experiment with embossing but I will be making large quantities with the same design. Has anyone ever tried to apply the glue through a screen printing screen? I am thinking wood glue mixed with water should work well for this.
Just make sure to test the right mixture, not to liquid and not too much glue, as glue can bubble when heated, so do a few test runs on scrap paper, have fun experimenting💖
"have you running to your craft room" just made me laugh - what happy enthusiasm! Yes, I should do more embossing powder play! One note though, not all double sided adhesives (tape or sheet) are heat resistant. Get that heat tool a little too close and it will create a whole new surprise look!
OMGoodness what a fabulous video. Some amazing results, with things I haven’t seen before. You have a new subscriber Gerry . Thank you 🎄 Merry Christmas
Hi Gerry, I don't have any embossing powder or a heat gun but they are on my wish list. I like how you used unconventional things to adhere the embossing powder. I especially liked the first one you made and the one with the double sided adhesive tape. I wonder if tape from a tape runner would be durable enough to withstand the heat? I hope you and your family have a very Happy Holiday! Your little doggie could not be any cuter!! ♡♡
That's great to have on a wish list, lots of cool options (I should look for a dual speed tool, gives you more options😉) Now there's an idea with a tape runner, thanks, I will try that for sure, I have some more ideas on a list to try😱have a wonderful holiday as well and Beebs wants to say thanks🐾😉

isn't it the coolest thing🤩 thanks and you're welcome💖

Of all the tips, I really like the plaid idea best. Edges of card can be straight once again. I can now make my own buffalo plaid too. :) Blessings!

So many clever options for using our powders! Love seeing little Bibi becoming a star, too! lol!
thanks💖 Beebs as the showstopper😆
I love this! You can also melt the embossing powder from the bottom of your card or paper so that it doesn’t blow away so easily. Tyfs
Cool, thanks💖
