One of the reasons why Philippine eagles are endangered excluding the deforestation is that they're loyal to their partners, if one dies the other half would rather stay solitary, 2nd is they only produce 1 to 2 eggs and the chick will not depart from their parents for at least 2 years, 3rd is that they're very territorial and the land mass they own must be quite big.

As an American, I'd bet my money on the Philippine eagle. Both majestic birds on their own merit. While the bald eagle population has rebounded in years , the Philippine eagle is very much in decline and may cease to exist if deforestation in Mindanao continues unabated.

I live in Pampanga Luzon I once saw this Eagle flying across the sky, im just a high school student that time, we decided to cut classes and go to Abacan river me and my friends , while walking in the river we saw this huge bird flying so high and you know it is not a simple bird because the altitude its flying was very high and the wings of the bird was so wide and steady. i still remember that time me and my classmate was in awe. these eagle are so rare so seeing them specially flying freely above was very very rare.

You miss one other characteristic of the Philippine eagle, is that once they mate with a female, they will stay with that female for the rest of they're life, not looking for a new female to mate with and also helps the female raiseing there chick. The guide said to us that usually the male offers his food to the female and waits to let her eat first. The eagles were separated and placed in two large cages beside each other when courting because I found out the female might want to kill the male if she doesn’t like him. wew

I have once watched documentary from the 60s where scientist measured the grip of Harpy eagle who lives in South America which was 200psi....that means if eagle would grab your hand it would crush your bones. Since it is a smaller eagle than those two I can imagine the magnificence of this eagle species.
