This is Part 5 of my Mountain, Forest, Sea Adventure series
Meet Sinag, the ambassador Philippine eagle which is part of the captivity breeding program of the Philippine Eagle Center in Calinan, Davao City. This encounter with the eagle is short of amazing, as it represents the country's national bird. Its keeper, Ms. Luana gave us a very informative talk about Sinag and her involvement in the conservation efforts of the PEC. Remember guys, saving the Philippine eagle means saving the Philippine forests too! Watch this unedited, uncut keeper talk and be amazed and inspired to contribute to the conservation of our very own Philippine eagle!

I am an American Expat now living in the Philippines. Before retirement, I was a Teacher and an interpretive Park Ranger for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Eagles were my passion. I love the Philippine Eagle and would love to spend more time observing them. I do hope to visit to this place soon.

Charles Lindbergh..the famous American Aviator , was one of the first, outside the Philippines, who championed the conservation of the PHILIPPINE Eagle 🦅 towards the end of his life...
Im proud that the Philippines is a member of Countries having or owned an Eagle.
This is a criticaly indangered birds but i think there is a good hearted people take care of these animals, and even the Presedent its his duty to put funds of it. ✌

I lived in Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija in the early 1960s. I was just a boy and I remember the whole area was still covered in thick forests.
There were eagles to be found in the nearby mountains but not anymore since the forests were logged over .
yes Sir, that is a sad reality. thanks to conservation efforts like PEC's, something can still be done.

I once saw a philippine Eagle flying when i was in high school, that was like 2001 me and my 3 classmates just skip our last subject and headed to the river (abacan river) im from pampanga Luzon, after we remove our shoes and walk bare foot into the river, we saw this huge bird flying above even if it's so high, the length of that bird wings was really visible, it's wings are so wide and steady flying so high with no effort, we didn't know anything about eagle that time, we thought its just a hawk some of my friends called it an owl, lol but looking back now , im 100 sure it was an eagle now that i know what owl hawk and eagle is. the wings span of that thing was so wide. some may say theyre lucky to see a philippine eagle on captive, but im more lucky to see it flying freely above, i really hope their number will increase so that many will witness what we witness back then.

That's a big eagle with hughe sharp beak & long shap talons. It gives me the chills watching the eagle so close to her face it could pluck her eyes out. No matter how tame they are I wouldn't hold them close to my face. Nevertheless it's a beautiful bird. I wish they are not hunted for food.

I remember one of my friends catches one philippine eagle somewhere in Lianga Mindanao, He decided to catch it because it keeps feeding on his chickens. It is scary to go near it, its claws really sharp. However, he gives it to the DENR to avoid a penalty.
must have been a scary experience catching a Philippine eagle by himself. thank you for sharing your friend's story. the PEC actually has community engagements to increase awareness and efforts in conservation.

Wow , I did look up the mythical griffon and found out it is believed to have aspects of an eagle. Thanks for mentioning this.
@@dadventurousprofessor2099 the griffon is featured in one of the good guys army in the chronicles of narnia but as a cgi effects of course..those kind of movies like the lord of the rings also should have featured the Philippine eagle even as a cgi effects because it is truly the most handsome eagle of them all aside from being the tallest. The harpy eagle has the most powerful talon but the beak is quite a bit short disproportioned to its face. Same as the stellars sea eagle.. eventhough the largest eagle, but it has an overgrown beak length and it looks a bit goofy. I am not sugar coating our Philippine eagle but the truth is,it is perhaps the most good looking eagle of them all and many foreigners (tourist alike) agree and have shown appreciation to the "Haribon".

@@brentonburbank4320 Philippine Eagle is more majestic looking than the north american bald eagle or the Australian wedge tail eagle.
In the 1960's in Albay province we used to have Philippine Eagle the same in Samar island. In Luzon maybe only in the Sierra Madre mountain in the area of Kalinga Apayao or in the vicinity provinces.

The eagle seem to trust her because it's not being aggressive.. But its feeling the need for flight..
I would never get that close with my face to that bird unless I had a protective face shield or goggles on to protect my eyes. Safety first always.
