Natural World: Attenborough's Wonder of Eggs
David Attenborough has a passion for birds' eggs. These remarkable structures nurture new life, protecting it from the outside world at the same time as allowing it to breathe. They are strong enough to withstand the full weight of an incubating parent and weak enough to allow a chick to break free. But how is an egg made? Why are they the shape they are? And perhaps most importantly, why lay an egg at all? Piece by piece, from creation to hatching, David reveals the wonder behind these miracles of nature.
Welcome to BBC EARTH! The world is an amazing place full of stories, beauty and natural wonder. Here you'll find 50 years worth of entertaining and thought-provoking natural history content. Dramatic, rare, and exclusive, nature doesn't get more exciting than this.

I love watching these, but I also can't help but think about how sad I'm gonna be when he's gone. Not like I know him personally, but it's comforting to know there are people like him in the world.
I know exactly how you feel. I was gutted when Stephen Hawking passed away, having a man like that around gave me comfort that we could still answer tough questions without it being drowned out by idiots. I'd imagin it will be the same when Sir David passes aswell. Hopefully at the latest.
love his voice
Lets face it, he really is THE voice of nature programs.
I remember watching The World About Us as a young child. I'm in my 50's now.
@@stickerscat you are too pretty to be old !
Someone give him the fountain of youth.
I agree
He's more mentally and physically able than most people 10-20 years his junior. Maybe the secret is staying engaged and passionate about life.
❤💞❤💞❤
🥚🐣🐥🐓
He probably already does, he and the queen were born in the same year, and they've met before, she must've hooked him up with her dealer.
@@co2_os 😂😂😂 I can’t with your comment
A man who has always put nature first..... what a respectable, kind, and humble person.
a shill for the BBC and the establishment
What sad lives the two commenters above me must lead. Attenborough is a great man and an amazing documentary maker.
@@justmyster1976 Others who judge another and choose to say such ,say this a real self reflection of oneself. Pity…
@@rainbowevil yeah the rest of us just live our lives doing our pointless jobs while he lives the dream.
@@testicool013 He’s a Broadcaster,Historian, Director, Manager of BBC , Author, Narrator, and a very very well educated person from University, Colleges, and many others . His dream was to see the world, record, and report it . I think now , if there hadn’t been D Attenborough visions ,visits ,perspectives, we wouldn’t have the unique pleasures, to enjoy all that he’s brought to this world, but to inspire us and many others,if he can do it , it’s possible for anyone who really wants it.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease indeed!
nearing 100 years old. been watching/listening to you since I was a kid. thank you david attenborough for everything you have taught/shown me.
edit* not me!, attenborough is almost 100.
Same, ever since the early 80s/late 70s through to today. I am always going to slightly envious of a school friend of mine that knew Doctor Attenborough as her teacher.
Congrats sir!
Congratulations
@slicky villy lol attenborough is 95, I was talking about him. lol im 40.
@@andrewweaver2517 thanks, I was referring to david, hes 95.
If the Narrator is Attenborough, it's sounds great masterpiece.
You do realize it is David Attenborough though, right?
Yes
@@forcivilizaton5021 it is..
True indeed
My childhood education wasn't complete without his narrative expertise.
How can anyone possibly dislike anything David Attenborough.
Must be aliens
He has always been my favourite narrator since childhood i can even inpersonate him perfectly now😎😎😎
@@TheStockwell 😂😂😂 it seems like youve had that encounter or something similar
@@TheStockwell yeah like his voice is very unique everyone should know it because of that
That would be a valuable skill.
You could do voiceovers
@@thinkislamcheckmychannel i can do voiceovers. Ive got over 10 voices i made already
@@TheStockwell okay thanks
I'm 61 and probably a vast % of what I know about animals David Attenborough has shown and told me. He's a unique human being.
All human individual is unique 🙂, but sadly, sometimes some peoples can degenerate to be bad
@@Cleeon financial issues degenerate people to be bad
The timbre of his voice as he explains the world of nature makes learning such a soothing experience.
@@levent.a.7280 Nah, many people are just pieces of shit. To say financial issues are the root cause of people being bad would be to say rich people are saints, which we all know to be false.
I also have no idea what this has to do with a 61 year old admitting he learned much of what he know about animal from David Attenborough lol
Absolute legend. Watched BBC earth and blue planet one on this old portable DVD player propped on the toilet whilst my young bum sat in the tub. He IS my childhood and my love for the outdoors.
Sir David Attenborough is a priceless treasure in this sea of humanity. It will be a dark day indeed when he is no longer “in attendance” on this planet. Another gem in the vein of great narrators was George Page of “Nature” fame. When George passed I felt like I lost a dear friend though I’d never met him. About eggs- I’ve always wondered about this process! It’s a wonder that it ONLY takes 24 hours from fertilization to formed egg!
I will genuinely ball out in tears when this legend passes away
Poop out laughing till he's breathing
Please stop, just don't, let us cheer, he still here Narrating about nature 🌿🍃 to us
We love this guy, he’s like part of our family! My kids can be doing anything but when David Attenborough’s voice comes on the tv they stop what they’re doing and come to watch him, they grew up watching him.
How people are researching this baffles me, simply fascinating.
my parents butcher a lot chicken at home. i actually thought this was all common knowledge, lol. but you can see the entire egg process from one chicken.
@@MadMax-qy8gg The fuck did I just read
Your dedication for science and will to share it with every human being is just remarkable
David Attenborough is THE BEST narrator. Over the years of watching him and listening to his words. I've fell in love with all types of nature with his help along with several others, but he's the one that I know will always have great and real content. Thank you David A!
Simply amazing. I’m 59 years old and consider him a family friend. I’ve heard him my whole life! ❤️🙏🏻🥰
👆There's no zero Supernatural in nature respect this please 🦉🐘🐺🦁🌏👫
His love for nature is so awesome. 🙂
I have and can listen to David Attenborough talk about literally anything nature related all day & night.
Damn, how much I love this guy's voice, fascinating.
His voice makes everything more interesting.
Sir David is a blessing to mankind
another new thing learned today. all thanks to bbc earth...
Sir Attenborough is nearing the end of his era, and it’s heartbreaking to think about.
Can't think of anyone else I would rather listen to at a party. The man is full of knowledge and knows the forest and the trees of our planet
Right, because that's exactly the reason you go to a party
Nature is more than incredible!!!
I swear I've never seen a bad narration of David Attenborough in my life
The secret to learning can be found in the way that the teacher presents the knowledge. I definitely want to give thanks to Sir David Attenborough, but ALSO to the writers of these incredible BBC productions.
As a child, I remember looking forward to watching the National Geographic Specials occasionally on TV. But now as an adult, these BBC programs are so detailed and only a click away!👍 I love science!!!
It's a story told with love and passion
I learned something very cool today: Birds are very close to evolving a way to paint easter eggs inside of them
😂
Thats cool
This man could be narrating a diaper change I'd still watch
It's incredible to learn something new about a thing so basic and everyday. I even had chickens growing up, and I was like 'Oh!'
Attenborough isn't a national treasure. He is the crown jewel of all of humanity.
His voice is so calming
So pleasing to hear 😍 your voice Sir. What a remarkable work. Beautiful explanation 👌
David Attenborough is remarkable
Very clear and educational video!
Hello
I like your documentaries since my childhood you are a very hardworking person wonder full to watching you
How great are you, my Lord, the Great, the Most Merciful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise…You deserve to be thankful for your worship alone because you have bestowed upon us countless blessings
He always sounds so fascinated by whatever he's discussing - lol becaues he always is. That sense of wonder and awe at the world and all its quirks is irresistible.
PS one would think that the narrow end would come out first. But I'd not put a lot of money on it.
"The sence of wonder is the mark of the philosoph!"--' Aristotle.
@@tttyuhbbb9823 - Thank you for that! I'll have to add it to my quote collection.
I almost said "child-like" but I didn't want to imply "childish". I have a deep sense of wonder at the world; I've stood for ages watching a spider make its web, and never fail to be awed at what they do by "mere" instinct.
NOBODY & I mean Nobody can tell a story of nature like Sir Attenborough
Sir David explains in epic style.
David Attenborough could narrate my own execution and I’d still be into it.
My respect and gratitude for the scientists (also the birds that might have been sacrificed in the process) who figured all this out. I never learned this in school and it was one of my many unresolved curiosities. This is so cool.
That voice denotes pure Knighthood
Such a pleasure hearing your narration sir.
Such a beautiful footage describing the egg formation and I loved to hear in David Attenborough's words... Nature is his first and only preference and one could know that through this videos... A great salute to this great man...
This man is a priceless treasure. He keeps delivering educational materials about nature that wouldn’t be taught by even highly-financed academic institutions
That is an amazing journey into the inner space of Life
He's the only one who can go "cliffhanger" on an egg life
David you're a legend! ❤
Oh thank god, I’ve been searching for the recipe for years
👆🤡
Dat cliffhanger!
When a cockerel and a hen love each other very much....
His voice = my life
Now everyone wonder about the eggs ❤️
I have been watching ATTENBOROUGH’ S Videos since long. All of them had been par excellence
I see Attenborough, I hit play!
He had the right voice and know how to read scripts
Amazing video....transforming the fertilization and egg formation, followed by the chemical process of dissolving calcium carbonate in an eggshell,...to poetry.
I watch this programme just to hear your voice Sir . God bless you
Except he is an unbeliever...sad really. He rejects God and Christianity. Hell is where you dont want to end up!
@@andreabenicky1879
Lmfao! What a grossly ignorant thing to say.
But no blessings for the gay or lesbian wildlife community right?🦉👫🌏
Please give this man a nobel peace prize
Atten sir , I love you
absolutely fascinating! and absolutely love listening to him. his voice is so soothing yet packed with knowledge, it sneaks right in whether you want it or not. he could read out the dictionary or an accountant report and it'd still lull me in and i'd be able to recite everything afterwards without even trying! lol
old man your voice and talking style very clear and smart 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
David always know how make something as a egg bring made, into a story of wonder and awesomeness.
Miracle of life is so beautiful life in the development stage tysm David Attenborough
Astonishing and beautiful. This man brings humility and wonder into animal science!

I recently found a rooster egg and I started to wonder about this very question. Well! Attenborough cometh through! Splendid!
Incredible, really fascinating to see the beginning of the egg.
I appreciate eggs so much now
You and nature you're like this🤞🤞🤞 I can listen to you all day long.
I could listen to Sir David talk all day. An extremely intelligent and interesting man. Shame we don’t have the technology so he could last forever.
Technology so advanced it is sublime.
