I went to the U-Boot in Laboe 4 weeks ago during vacation and also visited the U-Boot-Ehrenmal Möltenort. They have the names of every single german casulty from a U-boot crew during ww1 and ww2 written on metalplates there. These numbers may seem small in comparison to the overall casualties of these wars, but when you walk there seeing the sheer endless amount of names, you realise how huge these numbers really are and you think to yourself these are just the people how died in german submarines, it's just a small part of the whole casulties of these wars. It's like you get a feeling of the whole magnitude of these numbers, also because they aren't just numbers but everyone has a name. It was a kind of terrifying feeling.
Also I watched ,,Das Boot" two days ago it's an amazing movie that displays how life was like in a german submarine during ww2. It's really interesting, I would recommend everyone reading this to watch it.
