Well, it is the same in silent hunter so I think that this is the new reality.
The game is still in development, it only has a limited amount of ship models.

You can also try playing Silent Hunter 3, especially with mods it can be very fun tho a bit complex. I use the OneAlex mod as it comes as a standalone instead of you having to lose your mind patching an 18 year old game.

You do realise, that you can make targeting quicker by using the hydro phone operator, observers scope and also the attack scope or target multiple targets using all three

You clearly didn't torpedo Royal Oak. The Royal Oak was a Revenge class battleship with 4x2 twin turrets in the A-B X-Y layout.

What is this game, you have % of hitting instead doing everything manually, no ship identification, speed, distance like in good old Submarine Games?
The game is UBOAT. You can manually calculate the shots and identify targets, but there is a setting to where you can enable or disable your skipper and first mate being able to calculate the shot for you. And the % isn't the chance of the torpedo hitting per se, it is the accuracy of the information on the target ship such as speed, distance, and angle of bow. However, that % is only relevant when you have your crew do it for you.
