    The thing about Hitler never listening to his generals is kind of misleading. It's not really black and white. Sometimes he listened to them and they were wrong and sometimes he didn't listen to them and he was wrong, and vice versa. You can't say across the board that Hitler should've listened to his generals because it was more complicated than that.

    • @melkor3496
      @melkor3496 Год назад +41

      TIK has great videos about that and how Hitler actually was smart in not always listening to his generals. I wish the char wasn’t a bunch of 15 year old kids. If Tommy could watch some of TIK’s videos he would realize some of his knowledge of ww2 is actually wrong.

      @@melkor3496 Yeah I agree, I'm an avid watcher of TIK and have been for a while. It is really annoying when you try to recommend him a good video and he just assumes it's some dumbshit, rightfully so since most of his chat is as you said filled with 15 yr old.

      @@ostrichhe4d Yeah precisely. And I mean you aren’t forced to agree with his political opinions on the ideologies but they are at least extremely well made and he argues better than most for his stand points in his political videos. But all the videos where he covers military aspects of ww2 are all amazing and just brilliant and it saddens me that twitch chat filled with morons with no open mind thinking which will affect Tommy enough so he’ll either be really biased about TIK or never even watch TIK at all. I hate twitch chat sometimes just let him decide on his own without filling his head with negative opinions about a channel he hasn’t even watched.
      Many other RUclips channels on ww2 are also in contact with TIK like potential history and also recommend TIK’s videos. Just annoys me. Okay I’m done with my rant now. lol

    I think a lot of the Germans who fought to the death in this battle weren't die hard Nazis, they were just afraid of the Soviets. They'd heard the stories of soldiers who tried to surrender, but were murdered en masse.
    Maybe they thought that if they held the Soviets back long enough, the Allies would come in from the west and they could surrender to them. I've heard Germans deserted and booked it west to try that.
    This goes especially for the foreign volunteers. A lot of foreigners joined the German army not to fight the British or the Americans, but to fight communists.
    I also doubt the eastern members of the Axis had any larger goals of toppling democracy worldwide. They just wanted to fight the Soviets.
    A lot of modern day right wing populism is based on supposedly countering communism. And all the eugenics and crap is hidden to the masses by the veil of anti-communist sentiment. It's always about fighting the red menace.

    I like how he didn’t say the Soviets were part of the Allied Powers, because they weren’t. It’s the same thing with Japan and Germany. Also comparing Ukraine to the Defense of the Reich isn’t fair. They are totally different, one is a war of attrition with both sides lying to spread their views and the other is a rather well put together defense.

    8:22 Starsky is right sadly chat is always dumb. TIK has great videos on the military aspects on ww2 and a separate section for ideology where he arguments very well for what he thinks and that is anyone’s choice to listen to and agree with or not. Nonetheless TIK IS NOT a Nazi sympathizer and if only chat had brains they would understand this. TIK might have some unpopular opinions that he has videos where he argues for it but that’s it. His videos about military decisions in ww2 are brilliant nonetheless sadly chats bs about TIK will make Tommy have pre made opinions on TIK content and channel and as such will never watch them and definitely not go in unbiased about them.
