How much do ya’ll wanna bet that some of these Americans that fought in this battle were of German origin way back when Germany was still part of the HRE. (Emigrated to the U.S. in it’s early years)
if you really want to know the psychological effect of this fight, consider that most of the American army were german-american descendants. during WW1 51% of the usa were German 1st language people (made illegal to speak during the war). My grandfather was a para-trooper for the 82nd (504th). he was fighting his extended family in Baden and Bavaria.
How can you even compare this to Сталинград - Stalingrad? The battle of Stalingrad was over a span of a year and 1 million soviets died and around 500 thousand Germans died. I get the meaning behind the phrase, but it is misleading to people that don't know much about WW2. Stalingrad was also THE deadliest battle in history.
2:09 No. It resultet in the otherwise inevitable destruction of Germany and Europe. However the cause was the greates attempt ever made to save the German nation as well as the other european peoples.

7:20 tommy those white soldiers absolutely had "white privilege." They got to return home as heroes and reintegrate into normal society. The black American soldiers who sacrificed just as much came back to a country that hated them.
I would say yes and no. Nothing in life is fair, but to put the race of those soldiers before their actions is still a bit unfair. You can trace similar things back to the civil war in America when a lot of Black Americans got their first chance to be a soldier. Being a soldier in anyone's war isn't a privilege, and picking at the subject isn't going to help it's just pointing figurers rather then working on a solution. A very drastic comparison but similar, would be the concept of ex-nazi/soldiers who were forced into the party/way of life. While bringing up what horribleness happened and why it happened and the faults of it. Pointing figures at "mass groups" of people only drives more people to be blindly angry. The idea of forgive but don't forget.
