Agree--from Root escaping from the crazy ward, to Leon escaping being beat up x 2, to the cheating husband in the elevator to Elias, many many brilliant moments, great writing and even the minor characters were great.

Another show released ahead of its time was Max Headroom. It was almost like the creators of the show knew something we didn't and used the show to try to tell us without getting disappeared!

Harold's eyes when he says i built it says so much about the whole story behind it , his acting is one of the best thing on this show and to top it all Ramin djawadi background score.

One of my favorite scenes. Finch is so cool, calm and collected. He's trying to save this man from himself; "Curiosity killed the cat." The world is a cruel place to begin with. It is worse when your own intelligence turns against you.
Man the mystery of the Machine alone was enough to hook me all those years back. Not to mention the characters and plot, buyt the mystery of the Machine, man. Oh and the best part is that it only gets better the more you know about it, unlike other mysteries like... I don't know, Lost perhaps, where it would be best to not gop into details kind of

Well Reese went the same way Jim Caviezel's last character portrayal went....he died to save the whole world! But picture Shaw - who went to Fusco and picked up Bear - hopping on a plane or otherwise traveling with Bear to wherever Logan Pierce's team returned to after they prepared Team Machine's exit from saving the irrelevant POTUS! (Man does that have a different feeling saying it in a post-Afghanistan exit disaster!) Remember Joey Durden or Durban or....? He was the soldier who came back from the frontline into some trouble. He becomes the "new John Reese", Logan "Facebook-like creator" Pierce becomes the "new Harold", etc, etc. Harper becomes the new "Root" or "Fusco" (rotating identities AND they're almost all law enforcement-related?) - it's doable if they wanted to.
The creator of a system like that would make Linus Torvald look like a rookie coder straight out of bootcamp. Connecting every security video in existence and examining the contents using motion detection, facial recognition, etc is only the tip of the iceberg.

Your calls, texts, your daily schedule, your daily route, your online search history, bank transactions, the people you talk to etc. The government really do have access to this information, finch made a machine that can sort things from this information to find a possible terrorist attack
And they could start with the OTHER team, the ones who planned the exit while Reese & Crew protected HMX-1 in Synechdoche.... The Logan Pierce team.... Imagine if the Machine had set up multiple teams in multiple major cities????
I like your passion but for me, it did go downhill not better. Seasons 1 and 2 were amazing. Season 3 very good. 4 had a few of the best written shows but the warfare of 2 computers took away from the original premise...and I never liked the addition of Shaw. Still one of my favorite shows ever which is saying something, I grew up with Magnum and Sonny crockett.

This scene is epic in itself, but, for me, at least, made even better by the subtlest of shots: When we see Finch and Peck very briefly from the Machine's point of view (at 1:17), Peck has a yellow box around him.
i remember that show, great ideas, well written, a few cheesy action movie cliche errors, but nothing too dramatic. i remember they likely didn't have much budget, because i noticed in many action sequences that guns only had a flash and no slide action.

I don't know really much but the basics of the legend of Rennes Le Chatau but it's my headcannon/theory that Finch or someone before him found the legendary treasure which has to do with ancient technology powerful enough to make the Machine possible. Finch did build the program but it is only able to really work because of something beneath Rennes Le Chatau. Well that's jus my theory, a crack theory.

Finch deep down always knew that his machine is something more that what he claimed. In the end he realized and accepted it.

No one has access to all the cameras, only the machine does. Finch made it that way. They only knew where he was before, because he made a phone call.
The machine is watching you see the camera on him, both of them have yellow 'friend' outlines on them
The show was good at these scenes, but so incredibly bad at the whole plot thing. Especially in the last few seasons...
