Season 1 finale is nothing short of a movie. Such a thrilling episode and season 2 was just amazing. Great show.To add to it the background music is just brilliant.
At this point in the series we never saw the machine operate outside of giving out numbers to Finch. If I remember correctly we didn't even know that he got the numbers from pay phones. So when Reese, someone who's not Finch, looks at the machine and says, "You're gonna help me get him back," the machine was given a life of its own that we began to discover in the later seasons of the show.
You what out of all the relations The Machine as with people, her relationchip with Jonh was my favourite, Root saw The Machine as a God to be loved and idolatred, Finch sometimes saw her as a proud father and most of the times as an entity to be feared, Jonh actually treated her like he treated erverybody else, he respected her, he apreciated and complimented her when she did good and he called her out on her bullshit when she diserved it! Even if maybe he himself did not realized it he was the only one who actually treated The Machine as a person!
In God Mode, The Machine…: Ingrham (AUX_ADMIN): Sends the SSN and bio of irrelevant. Root: sends audio prompts and info of irrelevants via different voices. Reese: Guides him with directions using clock (audio of different voices). And sends him alerts of irrelevants in imminent danger. Root (After retasking) : Sends her to irrelevants that are in need, and are useful to the task at hand (via different voices and prompts). Finch (ADMIN): Does anything Finch wishes. "You created me! I can do anything you want! " Via the voice the machine chose someone who is deceased as an avatar, Root, Samantha Groves. Finished High school teacher (for a breif time).
Having seen this series already and just watchinbg clips now, holy damn I never thought a simple telephone ringing like that would evoke such emotions from me. Such a great series
Nice video content! Sorry for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you researched - Mahorrla Bringback Her Method (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for getting your ex back fast without the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my old buddy Taylor at last got excellent success with it.
My husband and I watched for three years and did not get back to watching. So we bought the 5 season now are watching it over again with the last two seasons .Yes we really like the characters we enjoy the show over again .Glad we bought the DVD's
The last "exchage" between Reese and the Machine is still one of my all time favorite TV scenes, and this is 2022. This is YOUR fault, so YOU are going to help fix it.
This show's ultimate strength all ways will be showing the ultimate power of an almighty being in such simple way. No elaborate vfx shots, no sci fi mumbo jumbo - this is just a scene of a person talking to a camera and the implications of it extend basic understanding by so much.
Here's a fun fact I learned: Amy Acker was chosen to play Root because the show's creator's wife was a fan of her work on Angel. Me too!!! She played two different characters in both shows as well: Fred and Illyria on Angel and Root and the Machine on POI.
@@michaelschweigart3517 They had to kill Cordelia, the actress (Carpenter) didn't want to come back although she was pissed that they killed Cordelia off, I guess she was open to appear in more episodes or may be the Series Finale
3:00 This was the start of the first God Mode of the series, I don't care what Root or Finxh have to say about it. Because John basically played a game of chicken with the Machine in the very next episode and forced it to do what he wanted 🤣
That was done on purpose. That's also the same spot Shaw is in when the Machine calls her in the show's last scene during that really great voiceover by the Machine.
I am so amazed and enjoyed this series. I wish someday this would be available in Hindi dubbing so that all common people who don't know ABCD of coding and AI can enjoy this. Love from India ❤❤
Really? Have you seen the other PoI Season Finales? This episode was really just setting the stage for what was to come, as did the others I will admit, but the writers definitely upped the ante as the series went on. For Season 2 we had God mode, preceded by Zero Day. For Season 3 we had Deus ex Machina, A House Divided, and Beta. Season 4, Asylum and YHWH. And of course, Season 5 was the series' finale, Return 0. Each of these episodes were among the very best the series had to offer.
Another fun fact: the first episode Root appeared in, Root Cause, Amy Acker did NOT play her. She was played by Rachel Miner. I know her from Supernatural. Great actress. She would've done a hell of a job as Root too. Probably would've killed Root off sooner since they had to kill off Rachel's SPN character due to her MS.
I'm guessing it's the victim/perp mindset that they have with the POI's. Besides, it does tend to be once/twice every season and not every other episode. Besides that the 'Mastermind-all-along' people (Root, Elias, etc.) are or were highly intelligent people with the skill and connection to fool the machine, so I don't blame Team Machine for falling for it. But I do agree a healthy amount of skepticism should've intruded into their minds at some point...
This scene was very sad, for one the women that was killed, her number never came up. If Root was ever in Johns cross hairs, he would have tap her. But John felt so alone, what do I do know. John ask Harold at the begining, we need a back up. What if you aren't around. The back up!!!!! there is no back up, you do what has to be done. Machine was told, not just me, but everybody. The machine took that as Harold don't count. Spoiler alert, even Shaw thought Reese was going off the deep end, when Harold was kidnapped by Root again. John kept on talking to the cameras.
Alicia's number didn't came up for 2 very interesting reasons. First, her act of violence wasn't predicted because she did everything she could to stay off the radar. She knew of the machine, and tried to hide from it. Secondly, Her death wasn't predicted because it wasn't premediated.
@NestedQuantifier Probably a 3rd reason... Alicia Corwin was on the run from the organization that Finch had just rescued an analyst... gave him a new ID... and told him him he had to disappear with 2 pieces of information. 1) The machine... exists. 2) You met it's creator. Now... you have to ghost... Corwin had gone from the confident government insider finalizing the situation with Nathan Ingram... ...to be hunted by the same spooks that killed Nathan Ingram and were picking off the half dozen individuals Corwin involved in bringing the Machine on-line. She was probably not carrying a cell phone or anything electronic... fearing it was being tracked. The footprint for the machine to even see her would have been minimal.
I’m hoping someone who has watched this show can help answer this question as it’s haunted me over the years. Was the machine covering the whole country or the whole world. If so, why was Finch only operating on irrelevants in the New York area? You’d think he would have hundreds of teams working different regions to help out all people.
"Root" was the beginning of the end for me and POI. I gave up after the third season when they made her a regular. They killed off Carter, a good protagonist, and replaced her with a couple of psycho lesbians.
Damn.. I miss these days when John was the centre of attention. Show was so good in those days when team machine had carter fusco john and finch as members only. I understand the addition of root's character as she was obsessed with machine but replacing reese's character with sarah? Who had the similar past and traits as reese's. I never understood the point of her addition. Show got kinda ruined for me when sarah became what mr reese was in 1st 2 seasons. Wish i could understand the reason of this weird ass decision. Anyways, this episode was great. John was fully loyal to finch, even finch couldn't believe it when he got to know John had finally found him. Man, John's character was out of this world. He sacrificed himself for finch, returned finch's favour of giving him 2nd chance at life😢 by giving up his life in the end. Story got complicated in between but it was inevitable as this show was not some procedural police show. The only thing that hurts me still is sidelining reese in order to introduce that gay shit. That was unnecessary coz stories like this didn't need to have such kinda stupidity plus if reese had remained the main operative plus leader.. i am sure show could have gotten more fame and not many ppl could have left watching it after S03.
I am a little lost, If she was planning on capturing Finch surely the machine would've spit out Finch's number, even if he was 'dead with his original persona.'
No, it wouldn't have. The machine doesn't spit out victim numbers, only numbers of person of interest. In this case, it spit out Root's number both because she is in danger, and because she is a perp.
Great finale, but I found it rather annoying that the main characters on the show are so easy to manipulate. Finch I can accept, but Reese too? Hell, the very reason for Reese's current situation is because he got setup by his superiors. You'd think that by now he'd know the warning signs of when someone is playing him.
She's a hacker. Who was able to evade all of Finch's previous attempts to locate her. And in turn plant a worm on his own network (season 1 episode 13). I guess she was smart enough to not leave electronic evidence of her real plan.
What an ending! This is the moment they introduced the machine as a live character.
NAH.... 3x13...that is the episode

Back in the days where Root was a straight up villain.
lol XD after watching seasons 4-5 i almost forgot that root started off as a villain XD
how did root ruin Person of Interest? While she was a bit of a trope she didn't really take away from the show...
while i do agree it should've gone longer i'm not sure how it can fit 10 seasons after the events of season 5
TheFirstNoel you're right, she ruined the show and made it so much better
Lenny I didn't say she ruined the show tho XD
The way society is today I sure wish there was a show like this I could watch probably one of my top three shows I miss and keep watching
You should check out “Westworld”. Also written by Jonathan Nolan who wrote POI

I want just some random person to answer a pay phone that rings before Finch or Reese get to it and see their reaction XD
Reese looks so determined to get Finch back and equally terrified of the fear of losing another close friend or the closest he's ever had.
Everyone else notice the similarities from the end of Episode 1 and the end of this episode?
That was done on purpose. That's also the same spot Shaw is in when the Machine calls her in the show's last scene during that really great voiceover by the Machine.
