Feel like you're overly negative on quality. You always say "quality isn't good at meta-PVP levels", but that's not always the case if you're looking at the 137 or 150 meta-levels. Quality is also sometimes better than Keen/Heavy, if you're using a build that isn't optimally statted for the specific weapon (e.g. because you want the specific moveset in your pocket for invasion scenarios).
@@funkymachine Subscriber count isn't everything. You need to consider subscriber type. Leveling analysis way past the meta soft-caps may not net you an amount of subscribers, but it makes more subscribers come back and and appreciate the videos.
Interesting note about the Vyke's weapon art: from what I've seen, the middle finger (lol) moves in the direction of your target instead of pointing forward. That makes the "safe spots" between the fingers inconsistent.
Never realized how versatile the greatspear class was. There's something for almost any build. No direct intelligence scaling greatspear but the Lance is so good it fills any niche you want. The Siluria's Tree is still pretty solid honestly. The ash of war charge can be mixed up for pvp and in pve it just chunks enemies and bosses at a safe distance. The recent buff it got just makes it even better.
I would probably note that the serpent hunter has a unique crouch and rolling attack which is similar to ultra greatswords. That attack wasn't affected by the 1.07 balance changes, and is a key part of its moveset in addition to the heavy attack
Heads up- The heavy charged attack is not more powerful. It’s normal power from my testing. I think the MV is for the Rykard fight. Still a cool weapon!

From what I've seen, and based on what others have said after testing, it doesn't do extra damage on charged heavies compared to other greatspears. @@Chrightt I tested it again and it DOES have higher MV on charged attacks. It is quite noticeable. Tested the Heavy Lance and Serpent hunter with the same AR on them. Serpent hunter- heavy attack did 388 damage and charged heavy did 839 damage. The Lance did 457 damage with the heavy and 642 with the charged heavy. This lines up because the regular heavy has a higher MV on the lance. This is 1 handed. 444 AR. The numbers do get fishy though! The two handed Alabaster Lords Sword also supposedly has a 215 MV for two handed charged attacks, but it does more damage with less AR AND while split scaled. Either trolls are weak to magic damage/are resistant to standard damage or something is incorrect with he MV. Either way both weapons have close damage to each other with 2H charged heavy attacks. with similar AR. However, the Lords sword gets a lot higher AR because of split scaling so with the same stats it does a decent amount more damage with charged heavies. This is why I was confused by my first testing. Conclusion- For a pure charge attack build the Alabaster Lords Sword is a better choice. The Serpent hunter is still good though and probably has a better moveset overall. It also has a worse ash of war, but if you think of the ash as a hyper armor charged heavy attack then it works. Too slow for most bosses but the hyper armor is good for normal enemies. Also basically always use the follow up attack as it comes out faster.
Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear's WA is so powerful that it can fairly reliably knock Malenia out of Waterfowl Dance. I don't think you can do this on reaction but with the Poise it has, any time Malenia started a Waterfowl dance when I wasn't on my third cast of the WA she got bled before starting the second part of Waterfowl.
I honestly never used a single Greatspear for the longest time. Maybe subconsciously I had some memories about heavy weapons from Monster Hunter. But boy when I tried the Serpent Hunter outside of Rykards Boss Arena for the first time I was totally blown. What a brutal weapon. Imagine you could freely choose an ash of war or it would have a different one
I'm really glad that my Treespear + All Faith buff incantation build is actually fairly strong :) I've been running it for a while with some doubts as to it being any good or not but I'm glad faith was the way to go with 900 fucking AR at lategame
tbh i went the dex route (15/55/13/30 on RL 140) and it's about the same when using order's blade... but faster since casting speed scales with dexterity 😁 it was the easiest time i had of any build (yes, even with the holy resists of later bosses) while pure faith was the hardest from a treespear enjoyer to another i wish you luck with the DLC
Siluria's is looking like the weapon I wanna use for pve. It's long and i love the sweep r2s. Sure holy will suck at parts but I'm hoping fire spells will compensate
Very annoyed that the only great spear that's AoW customizable is pretty ugly outside of a pve horse-back RPing build. Really hoping that the DLCs fix this.
Chrightt, from one think I saw, there was a way to glitch the serpent hunter spear so you could use its weapon art outside of the Rykard fight which allowed you to quickly kill bosses.
Have you considered looking at the "nuke" spells after 1.07. Explosive ghost flames seems much better. Maybe compare spells like ghost flame to scarlet aonea or zamors ice storm.
According to the patch notes, only the pvp range was nerfed. The weapons stats on their own are quite nice, and the WA will still be among the strongest in the game for pve. I don't think its a huge nerf, overall.
I use shared order in pvp. Is it nerfed too? I definitely feel more powerful when stacking it on sacred infusion + sacred blade. It carries over when you swap weapons. I used to run Orders Blade on tree spear pure faith and buffed it this way too. So many charged r2 one shots in pvp 😂
1.08 notes: Siluria's is really good free aimed in coliseum combat ordeal Serpent Hunter now does thrust damage on crouch attack I believe. Also counter damage is nerfed, but I don't know if that will make elemental infusions better or not.
If you can still do the invasion dupe glitch or use CE to get another serpent hunter, power-stancing them is pretty good on a pure strength build starting hero, since you dont need any dex investment, and it looks cooler than dual lances imo. its pretty dumb you cant just have 2 normally or drop it for a friend since it isnt even that great of a weapon, with the useless aow and the fact you cant even buff it with grease. but i guess its just so that you dont accidentally sell it or delete it before killing rykard. Being able to change the ash or buff it would be nice too, still one of my favorite weapons though, reminds me of nameless king.
Why is the Halberd seen as the more meta weapon for poking? How does the poise damage and hyper armor of the two compare? Also where can I find that info on the poise and hyper armor and MVs of weapons?
Tip for pvp: the serpent hunter's ash of war makes people think that you will 100 percent miss so they go in for big hits when the animation ends, and they can get caught in the follow up, wich can one shot most players. Don't sleep on it
I was wondering if the serpant hunters new update to its weapon art would be taken into consideration :/ Update list said it got higher damage and poise damage? I think that should be tested to see if it brings down even bigger foes than before. I imagine that matters.

Hate to leave a off-topic question, but do you know if the flails are any longer than hammers? I main hammers/flails rn and trying to see if there's a saving grace for using a flail over a hammer
The flails all have basically the same length (nightrider and family heads are slightly bigger) which have more reach than most of the hammers, but the finger hammer and all knowing scepter might be slightly longer but by not much. My souce is the wiki it has the reach of all weapon classes.
I have a range comparison video on my channel using the longest weapon class: ruclips.net/video/lTQILtI-Y6o/видео.html One thing to note is flails have a floppy hitbox at the tip, so the hits are usually delayed and even slower than expected at the full-length of the hitbox.

I use mine 2 handed for the poise damage though and that moveset appears to have a straighter swing than the 1h, looks a lot less floppy, so I think the extra few inches makes a significant difference. The 2h moveset seems to swing it harder where the flails are much straighter and less floppy during attacks, so I think the difference is real here I mostly use the Stone Club for the giga strength damage (vid in my chanel with my build doing 1100 to 1400 dmg) but have been using the chainlink flail a bit sine its such a rare weapon. With the recent poise buffs to both, I think they're pretty sick weapons now in 2h since they're not really tradeable with a good combo of speed and stagger
I did the math for treespear regarding counter hit and thrust damage and factoring in exalted flesh for dex as a replacement for orders blade. 80 dex (with spear tal, exalted, draw grease) = 1,054.85 80 fth (with spear tal, orders blade incant) = 1,139.18 Faith is still better for a single spear, but worse for powerstance
Iam fairly new to pvp and I was wondering why my heavy spears/ colossal greatsword do more damage with cold and fire Infusion ? I have 31 strength 13 dex. I infused them with heavy even ugs and still does less damage with heavy Infusion tnx to whoever can help cheers !

Tree spear with 13 int sacrifice for Orders Blade is worth it. Tree spear can be buffed despite ashes can’t be changed
Can also swap to Stargazer Heirloom(since most time you’re buffing you have a moment anyway) to keep the stat points for elsewhere

Yeah, I've checked out explosive ghostflame. Still quite impractical in PVP but it does okay in PVE now.

Wish bolt of gransax was a great spear. Its got thw sniper shot and great range but my god is the moveset a complete yawn
