      @@AngRyGohan the base damage is absurd anyways, even in pvp. Layering red manes flame with incantations gets nasty. Same for thunder bolt on sacred infusions.
      The ranged ashes are stupid broken even at base damage.
      It’s ironic the best spells in the game are ashes. My Flame strike pre-1.07 did 1400+ damage on Morningstar with flame art. My thunder bolt on sacred mace currently does 170-250 dmg. Free damage, no skill required, regardless of build. It’s gross that these ashes can do literally double my damage on a non-caster with jar talisman. Literally no transferable, ranged ash deserves to have any scaling. Read that last line again. Crossbows don’t get scaling and great bows/cannons don’t even vigor check.

      @@holyspear26 Im not entirely sure one can say an Ash like Flame Strike can be considered a spell when majority of the damage comes from the weapon follow up though besides something like flamestrike has a reverse relationship with ranged spells. Flame strike with the follow up takes up some good amount of time while in melee, while regular spells hit from afar from safety. Basically Flame strike PvP while actual ranged spells are more PvE oriented.
      Also why would you use Sacred on a mace thats for thunderbolt? That implies you do not invest in Dex much which it scales from.

    • @holyspear26
      @holyspear26 Год назад +2

      @@AngRyGohan flame strike first part is a pyromancy that wins trades and buys safety. This makes it a spell comparable to wrath of gold. Flame strike, on my worst possible set up with no strength, does more damage than wrath of gold at 80 fth. Wrath of gold on my build does 5-800 dmg. Flame strike did 1400 dmg with followup on the same fth build. Flame strike also lingers while no other defense spell does.
      Never use flame strike followup unless you know it will connect. Just sit back, spam first part and flask or cast new spells from behind the safety of the fire wall. Completely cheese and I ditched it.
      I think you missed my point on thunder bolt. I’m using it on the worst weapon possible, with no dex and on sacred infusion.... I do 250 dmg while a dex build does 6-800 dmg. I’m not saying my damage needs a buff, I’m saying it all needs a nerf. 250 damage should be the max damage a fast, spammy and silent ash can do.
      My response to your statement was pointing out that the dama risk so high we don’t need scaling on these ashes for fth.
      All the spell like ashes need a hard nerf. And many should lose scaling altogether, doing only base damage.

      I went through a good chunk of the game with a dex build using ice spear with a keen weapon. Keen weapons can be buffed. If a skill has "true" in the "isAddBaseAtk" column, it will inherit certain properties of weapon buffs, including Bloodflame Blade's hemorrhage-over-time effect (but not its fire damage). Such skills also inherit Blackflame Blade's max-hp-based damage and the property of Order's Blade (and the Shared Order skill) that kills skeletons without you having to hit them again while they're down (and kills necromancer-controlled skeletons). I haven't tested every skill, but that seems to be (part of?) what that column means.

The game also does not show you how much poise or stance it deals to opponents on hit. Or guard damage on blocks. Someone had to make a mod that revealed invisible status bars on enemies to figure this out.

    I think the intention of the strong/weak heavy and keen was probably not to make one strong, but to give less of a penalty to let's say a dex build for using a heavy weapon art with the keen affinity (as they would want to max AR). I guess the idea would be that at higher levels a strength build's bonus would win out against a dex build even with a higher multiplier (if I didn't completely misinterpret the material). However, after thinking about the fact that they are using base weapon level scaling says to me that they started out wanting ashes of war to be more restrictive to your build, then later changed their minds so that people had greater freedom of choice. For me at least, I can understand why they would categorize them all, but I think it should only apply to "elemental" type weapon arts.

    I've been using Shared Order on my Int/Faith mage's backup dagger, as it is cheaper and lasts longer compared to the Golden Vow ash. But I wasn't sure if I would be better off with Golden Vow's raw damage increase even if it is neutered in PvP.
    Shared Order seems to add holy, or at the very least anti-undead effects to all of your damage sources, including spells. But the fextralife page doesn't really make it clear if it's nerfed for PvP like Golden Vow. So it's been on my mind for a while!

      If you check the buff stacking/buff categories page on fextralife it claims that it is nerfed to a similar degree as golden vow(Ash). It goes from 10% to 2.5% procent according to the wiki. Also if you check the special damage bonus page it claims that sacred order grants a 100%+ damage against undead modifier in addition to a anti revive ability. (It doesn't seem to add any actual holy damage so the 10% pve bonus should work fine against holy resistant enemies).

Some of those statistics look as if a bot or formula was responsible for writing it. Like seriously, what is 1.081 Intelligence Scaling on a +25 Magic Banished Knight's Halberd supposed to represent at all? It just seems arbitrability opaque and frustrating for no discernable reason.

      It's the multiplier with which your raw stats like strength get converted into AR. In-game they're symbolized by the various letters ranging from E to S, the numerical values are important because those letters aren't fixed but instead it's a spectrum.
      In more simple terms, the heavy Brick hammer +25 has an S scaling in strength with an assigned value of 2.02 (Giant-Crusher also has an S but its value is only 1.84 meaning the conversion rate is slightly worse) which makes it gain 6AR for each point of strength you have, if we compared it to a different weapon that has half of the scaling multiplier which would be a B 1.01 in this case the gain would only be 3AR. Hope this helped.

      I'm probably very wrong, but my best guess was that they were using some kind of algorithm to determine weapon multipliers based on each weapon categorized on a list in a numerical order, with weapons at the top getting whatever the predetermined maximum scaling value was and letter grade of S, with weapons at the bottom getting the minimum predetermined value and getting an E and everything in between would be where we get these weird decimal values and ratings ranging from S to E determined by their "score" (the value of their multiplier for that category of weapons).
      I'd be interested in watching a video providing further information about how weapons may have received their letter grades, and if there are any recognizable patterns regarding weapon scaling.

    I'm still confused when it comes quality bullet arts like storm blade or vacuum slice, is it more beneficial to just go with heavy/keen for optimal scaling at 125? Also on a side-note, shouldn't the DEX value in the affinity scaling chart be 0 for Heavy (Weak) as well since heavy affinity removes dexterity scaling?

    • @Chrightt
      @Chrightt  Год назад +1

      For level 125 it would be better to go heavy/keen for quality bullet arts indeed. If you're talking about the graph chart it isn't 0 for dex value because they copy pasted the graph equations. But because the scaling is 0 it won't scale to dex.

    At 18:25 you have shown us the sheet for various multipliers with respect to the affinity. Amd the graph u show us for stat multiplier is also for various affinities as per the type of damage. But you said earlier in the video that weapon affinities only scale with a particular stat and will not change if u invest in another stat. However the 18:25 affinity sheet and the stat multiple graph is contradictory to what u said. Could u please explain?
    i really love the work you have put in and ive been rewatching and working it out and everything you have said makes sense, except for the fact that u have mentioned multipliers for different weapon affinities wrt different stats, which im a bit confused about.

    • @Chrightt
      @Chrightt  Год назад

      No problem! Let's say you have a magic weapon art but you've decided to use the cold infusion. So checking the graph at 18:25 you would be using 2 for int scaling due to cold infusion (all the other 4 numbers for cold infusion are not used even though they are not useless. If you had selected a keen bullet art we would be using 1.9 instead!). However, you could've selected magic affinity for 2.35 or shafted yourself by selecting a heavy affinity for only 1.8. They are all possible combinations, just not optimal ones.

      Also, does the enhanced hit weapon art depend on the type of scaling multiplier or solely on the grade ?
      For example for carien grandeur would it scale more with a Dex B rated weapon or a Intelligence B weapon or does it solely matter om the grade(S,A,B,C,D) and not on the type of scaling (dex,int, strength,faith,or arcane)?

    A bit late but one question, which could also extend to backstabs and ripostes. Do ashes of war scale with 1h or 2h AR? Because no matter if you're 1 handing or 2 handing your weapon, it will always do the same damage. If I'm 2 handing a heavy Banished Knight's Greatsword with Spinning Slash, does the spinning slash damage cap at 54 or 80? Does it depend on the ash of war?

    • @Chrightt

    So Stormblade will do a lot more damage on a 50 STR/50 DEX build than a 80 STR/10 DEX, since it’s from the quality ash of war category right? Or just slightly more damage?

    • @anitaremenarova6662
      @anitaremenarova6662 Год назад +1

      That depends entirely on which affinity you'll decide to go with, if you compare both those stats under quality then 50STR/50DEX comes out on top but 80STR/10DEX wins in heavy. If we compare them in their respective categories then 80STR/10DEX in heavy beats 50STR/50DEX in quality even though it's 10 stat points less than the latter. Quality affinity in general isn't worth it unless you just want to play in really high soul levels.

    I absolutely love your content. One question, though, with the caveat that I’m only about half way through the video, so if the answer lies within, please just say “watch the video”. So, question: what is the highest poise breaking weapon and ash/incant/sorcery/etc. combo in the game? For example, I currently use a Great Stars (per your previous suggestion) with the Cragblade AoW and using two handed jump attacks. Please help me learn. Thank you.

    • @Chrightt
      @Chrightt  Год назад

      You will find this answer by looking through the poise MV sheet and some extra theorycrafting. The big clue is: the hammer type colossal weapons have the highest base poise damage after buff. BUT bullet arts use AtkSuperArmor so there are ways to spam high poise damage with Flame of Redmanes as an example.

    • @DeceptiKHAAAAAN
      @DeceptiKHAAAAAN Год назад

      So, to me, that sounds like you mean Giant Crusher all the way. I’ll go to the spreadsheet to do the math to confirm, but that’s my gut instinct.

    • @Salamanticormorant
      @Salamanticormorant Год назад +1

      I *think* I have the overall math figured out. I'm not sure I know what does the most, but I think I found something that does more than two handed jump attacks with Cragblade, depending on whether my info on cragblade is up-to-date. The “Poise Damage MVs” tab has 8 for Giant Crusher’s “base” and 440 for its “2h Jumping R2”. 440 is a percentage, so we do 8*4.4 = 35.2. This result is also shown in the “Poise Damage - PvE” tab, which is there to save you the trouble of doing the math. If the wiki is correct, Cragblade increases poise damage by 20%. I think Cragblade was improved in 1.07, so that might be out of date, but it’s what I’ll go with. 8*4.4*1.2 = 8*5.28 = 42.24. I wrote it out that way for a reason. To compare to poise damage from some skills, we want to think of the 5.28 as a percentage, 528, and compare it to poise damage motion values. For example, the “Ashes of War Attack Data” tab has 600 for Lion’s Claw’s “Poise Damage MV”. That’s like having a 600 instead of the 440 from the “Poise Damage MVs” tab, and instead of the 528 with Cragblade. Cragblade would have to give about a 36% boost instead of 20% to match that 600. That part of the comparison works for all weapons, because those numbers from both tabs get multiplied by whatever the weapon’s base poise damage is. It looks like Lion’s Claw will do more poise damage than 2h Jumping R2 for any weapon it can go on, even with Cragblade (if 20% increase is accurate). On a Giant Crusher, Lion’s Claw does 6*8 = 48 poise damage. To compare to skills that use AtkSuperArmor instead, you need to compare that final number. The largest value in that column is 45, for a double-charged Carian Grandeur. I know that was 45 before 1.07, so 1.07 might have changed which single attack does the most poise damage.
      Or was there already something that does more? I’m not sure how dual-wielding works for poise damage. Does Cragblade go away if you temporarily two-hand your other weapon, or can you have it going on both weapons like you can with Royal Knight’s Resolve?

    • @DeceptiKHAAAAAN
      @DeceptiKHAAAAAN Год назад

      @@Salamanticormorant So, long story short: because I’m on a strength based character, I would be better served by a 2h Lion’s Claw than dual wielding jumps? If your estimates are correct, of course. Thank you. I’ll give it a shot. Last I understood, Cragblade was +20% to poise, yes.

    • @Salamanticormorant
      @Salamanticormorant Год назад +2

      @@DeceptiKHAAAAAN Lion's Claw is a skill. I compared its poise damage when used with a Giant Crusher to the poise damage, with cragblade, of doing a jump attack with a single giant crusher wielded with both hands. Two-handing, not dual-wielding.
      I didn't look into wielding two weapons at the same time. Looking at the motion values, I'm not sure how to figure it out. There are some "offhand" columns, but not for jumping attacks. Maybe it's just a matter of adding the two one-handed jumping numbers together, or just doubling for using two of the same weapon, but would it be the R1 numbers or the R2 numbers? Looking at the numbers for a Giant Crusher, either choice would add up to more than the two-handed jumping R2. Those things are very heavy though. You'd need a lot of equip load. Could be that wielding two lighter weapons gets better results for the same total weapon weight than wielding one heavier weapon with both hands.
