You went on that whole digression about the translation, and i was just thinking "Doesnt he know that natural born is already a synonym for bastard?". If youve read George R.R. Martin's books, he often uses the phrase "natural child" to talk about bastards. Again, not calling you dumb, I just think younand others missed some context and were overthinking the translation.

@@jackpfefferkorn3734 I've actually read the first two books for Game of Thrones (I really should go back and finish this series but I got sidetracked and disappointed by the show) but I somehow just never connected the phrase "natural child" to "naturalborn". I mean, yeah, they both have "natural" in phrase but I just (somehow) didn't think they were related and probably because its been years since I've read the story and my impression of the show became deeper cause I watched it right after reading A Clash of Kings (don't recall them using natural child in the show). 🤦‍♂ I was definitely thinking of naturalborn purely on its modern definition.

Concerning Astel’s name, a “natural child” is used as “polite” term for a bastard, to quote wikipedia: “[…] such a child being known as a bastard, a love child, a natural child, or illegitimate. In Scots law, the terms natural son and natural daughter bear the same implications.”
Granted I only know this since I’m currently reading A Song of Ice and Fire where the term is used a lot, and I still didn’t make the connection with Astel.
Overall using bastard would’ve been much clearer, but maybe they wanted to go with a more medieval sounding version? I don’t know 🤷‍♂️
Edit: of course especially considering how they then named the weapon, someone screwed up.

Only one Elden Ring weapon holds a special place in my heart, the Grafted Dragon Head. Nothing beats the feeling on your first playthrough as someone who has never played a souls game before of turning in the remembrance and seeing the dragon head as an option and going “WAIT WHAT?” And then realizing that you’ll actually get to take something cool from every boss. The Grafted Dragon Head may not be a great weapon, it may be a fist that can’t be 2-handed, and it may have a difficult to use weapon art, but nothing feels cooler than punching people with a literal dragon on your hand.

    1. Knight's Greatsword. This weapon looks like a real sword. It has a thin realistic blade with golden runes along the edge, looks amazing. I hate the greatswords that you just slam into the ground. The good-looking moveset and longer blade makes this thing the best greatsword and also gives it high-skill pvp true-combos. I think this is also the weapon the game was mainly balanced around in terms of attack timings.
    2. Moghwyn's Sacred Spear. I love greatspears. I hated the look at first. It's so over-the-top and front-heavy, but the amount of detail on it is amazing. It goes in the opposite direction of the Knight's Greatsword and represents the other side of weapon design: fucking sick. I love the moveset and coating it with bloodflame. It's such an iconic and unique weapon, the only boss more defined by their weapon would be Maliketh.
    3. Bolt of Gransax. I don't like the lighter spear moveset, so I rank it barely lower than second. Unlike the Trident, I loved this design from the beginning. Its true form is the largest weapon in the game, the visual centerpiece of the Capital City. A swirling bolt cast in solid gold, wielded by a dragon the size of a city and you get to literally just climb to the tip of the weapon, pick it up, and hurl it like Zeus. Spamming the weapon art kinda gets old, but goddamn the first time is sick. The thump of impact as the bolt hits is thumpier than anything else in the game.
    4. Marika's Hammer. Design slaps, and it's like the tool used to forge and shatter the elden ring itself. Just like an iconic centerpiece of the game gotta put it on here.
    5. Sperpentbone Blade. I never really used it, but it looks super fuckin' sick. Rivers of Blood looks amazing and has its fancy weapon art and everything. Serpentbone gets the same thing why can't it just have a green poison version of corpse piler? It should be the poison equivalent of Rivers >:(

Knight's Greatsword would not function as a sword in real life due to the massive protruding bar down the middle of the blade which prevents it from cutting deeply into anything. The better version is the Banished Knight's Greatsword.

    • @zsDUGGZ
      @zsDUGGZ Год назад

@@binbows2258 tho the banished knight gs looks nice, I don't think it would function well as a real sword either. Unless that blade is thin or has some distill tapering, it would be way too heavy due to how consistently broad it is throughout. A lot of greatswords irl are not that wide, partly due to the weight of the weapon contributing to the cut.
Would it be more plausible than the knight's gs? Yeah.

5, Grafted Dragon. Couldn’t get a build using it going but probably my favorite design of any weapon in the game
4, Rusted Anchor. Awesome design for pirate rp, mechanically you can abuse counter hits or use the surprisingly strong cold scaling
3, Dragon Halberd. Love the weapon art on this thing, low base reqs and high damage from the WA buff made for a super fun vit gauge build
2, Urumi. The charged attack on this is tons of fun to use, and aesthetically a whip made of a blade is fantastic
1, Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword. I got lost in Liurnia my first play through from taking a wrong turn trying to get to Margit, and ended up running around the edge of the lake trying to get out until I ended up going up through the secret tunnel and having to fight through a dragon who dropped his sword. Fell in love with this weapon, just wish the reach were better in pvp

There's always a special place in my heart for the Greatsword (The Ultra Greatsword). In Elden Ring sprcifically, I LOVE putting Stamp-Uppercut on the weapon, as the sword's good range and competitive damage are only enhanced by adding a knock-down option, especially one that you can fake-our or massively delay with ease. It's very easy to bait an overconfident opponent into attacking you during your stamp for a free light-attack, pnly to be roll-caught and punished for it heavily. They usually don't make the same mistake twice, but with careful timing, they don't get the chance to make it a second time anyway.
It also makes for a really fun pair with any other UGS, wirh my personal fave for that use being the Grafted sword. Its buff is easy to apply, quick, and cheap, and the divergent looks of the swords- one appearing refined, honed, and distinctively long, wirh the other being rusted, crudely-forged, and noticably short- they make a visually cool duo to absolutely ravage a trade-focused player, or to maintain a very strong, but off-meta option for single-player adventuring. It helps that the resource needs are easy since both swords use different stone types.

    2. SoNaF- You said it all brother 👌
    3. Claymore- a classic and a very fun weapon to play.
    4. Uchigatana- Stylish, strong and I like to call it Guccigatana 😂

    #5 Bloodhound's Fang
The opposite of a noob trap, and genuinely a good weapon for every kind of souls player. Curved Greatswords have an excellent moveset, and this weapon only makes it better with free bleed and a good ash for PvE (I miss the early days where hosts and invaders got caught by the ash). It's also an early somber weapon and the only one you can apply buffs to. Overall solid choice for STR, DEX or Quality builds.
    #4 Grafted Blade Greatsword
Definitely not for its mid-range stats and slightly useful buff, but for every other reason. It's like the only weapon in the game that has a story. You first get told by Irina to go and get her father out of Morne Castle, but when you get there he tells you he won't abandon "The Treasured Sword of Morne". When you reach the end of the castle you see Leonine Misbegotten standing alone on an island in front of giant gravestones. You can summon Irina's father to help with the boss, and upon defeating Leonine you get the sword. It looks like an homage to Game of Thrones' Iron Throne. Fitting since George RR Martin did write the background for the game.
    Starscourge Greatsword #3
First time I've seen Radahn's swords was in the gameplay trailer that was at the end of 2021's SGF. I then got a closer look at them in the story trailer and since then wanted them so bad. Once I got them on my STR build, I never looked back. They have such an awsome design, hit like a truck, go trough shields with the magic damage and have a statisfying ash to boot. Beating Malenia with them was so much fun.
    Godslayer's Greatsword #2
Kept out of early game hands by a Godskin Apostle who's scaled for endgame, this colossal sword is a fitting reward for those who overcame such a challenge. Being a colossal sword that scales with dexterity and faith, it's only made more unique with it's ash of war that shreds through high health bosses. I love helping hosts beat Elden Beast using it. I also really love the lore behind the Gloam-eyed Queen and hope to see more of that blackflame goodness in the DLC. No-hit Maliketh using it.
    Shamshir #1
Reading my list you'd expect Guts Greatsword or Blaidd's or any other colossal weapon on the no.1 spot, not a curved sword without a unique ash. Lacking any of the unique lore, story or gameplay aspects that made the other weapons shine, this one excels due to its humble simplicity. Being a curved sword with a unique moveset and accessible right as you start the game, I chose this weapon to be my "main" for my level 1 run. Not only did I have to beat bosses without getting hit, but also I had to learn a playstyle that's alien to me. Don't think I've had as much fun in any souls game as I did on that run. Still didn't finish it as I have Godfrey, RaddaBeast, Mohg and Malenia left, but I'll come back to it after finals at the start of the summer. I can't wait. Oh I just caaan't wait!

My favorite is the Urumi. The whip class is about outspacing and outmaneuvering your opponent more than any other weapon and the Urumi really exemplifies that in a more direct way than the more attrition-focused bleed whips, landing a charged R2 with all the damage buffs it's compatible with is immensely satisfying.

    2. Shamshir: crazy good move set, cool design, wicked fast and interchangeable ashes.
    3. Misericorde: the crit damage is just too good.
    4. Vyke war spear: I know it can be toxic but typically I don’t PS weapons unless my enemy is PSGS or something like that. I just love the whole madness theme and design.
    5. Greatsword/Zweihander: what can I say? These things are classics and have solid movesets with interchangeable ashes. The aesthetics and functions of these are just oi good to pass up.

Heres the list of my favorites though Im kinda biased towards versatility hence why most of the weapons listed here tend to have changeable ash of wars, I also listed honorable mentions and main aspects of why they are there in the parentheses :
Honorable Mention: Ripple Halberd (Playstyle/Performance), Dragon Communion Seal (Performance/Playstyle), Pulley Crossbow (Playstyle), Death Poker (Design), Great Stars (Playstyle)
    5. Serpent Hunter: Unique and variable movesets that combine the best aspects of great spears and colossal swords, also looks badass when used against Rykard
    4. Rogier Rapier: Among the most versatile of thrusting swords with its rapid fire uncharged heavy attack that is useful for status build up and also having a 110 crit value too
    3. Clayman Harpoon: Good ol spear, the main melee weapon of humanity that befits its humble looking design. Earn its place here due to their innate magic damage that still allows external buffs from resin and spells on top of having changeable ash of war and decent hybrid scaling with int and faith or int and arcane
    2. Great Epee: While Godskin Stitcher might perform better due to its range and better heavy attack for status build-up, I personally prefer epee due to their more realistic and protective design due to the lack of a pommel spike that will just harm its wielder, and more broad protective hilt that more befit its thrusting moveset. Another plus for having a wide horizontal swipe heavy attack that is deceptively very long and wide for added versatility. On this place since I love the versatility heavy thrusting sword grant with their heavier poise damage and longer range compared to regular thrusting swords, being able to shield poke with it, and finally having a feint attack too on top of all that extra capabilities
    1. Zweihander: Lightest of colossal swords and also have lower stamina consumption per attack too alongside having thrusting heavy attack and also being the second longest colossal sword at the cost of at most 100 AR compared to GUGS and having lower guard capabilities. Personally prefer their design since they embody the perfect weapon for a super strong person without needing to look like an overweight slab of iron and undermining realism from users inertia, momentum, and lack of downforce (user mass * gravity). Number one because colossal swords are imho the best and also my favorite weapon type due to their heavy damage and poise break, decent speed on some moves, and a long and wide range of attacks

And yea this will be long
    5- Broadsword
I love this weapon for how I used it. Recently I made a strength pvp build, where I used other strength weapons to do most damage, but pinching so many wins with a storm blade jumpscare was always really funny. Using the broadsword alone was just as useful and just as strong as any other weapon as well! (Used it cause of your straight sword vid btw)
    4- Zweihander
Fucking love this guy, my early days of pvp were filled to the brim with tanking shots and lions clocking some poor mages face in, the weapon looks cool, feels cool, and plays like any silly big sword would, without feeling too guilty lol
    3- Bolt of Grannsax
Yea no, there’s nothing that isn’t already telegraphed with this one. Picking up the weapon the first time I was like “DAAAAAMN” and decided I wanted to use it, and god damn it was a blast a nuclear bomb powered rail gun, ruined whatever you hit with it’s day, including other people.
    2- Blasphemous Blade
When I played my first run of elden ring, I was a strength faith fire addict who used every fire incantation, good or bad, but without finding a weapon that I thought perfect, I just stuck with the number one fire infused. Beating Rykard changed that Drastically.
    1- Nightriders Glaive
Holy mother of 80 strength this weapon is a blast. I’ve always liked halberds, in any game I play, but from the moment I got one shot by the nights cavalry on the bridge in Limgrave, I knew I had met my soulmate lol, piercing fang, swords dance, and giant hunt, Flaming strike, Braggarts Roar- It doesn’t end with this thing- the looks, the style, the POWER. 2. Morning Star: Badass knightly weapon. Is cracked on occult + high arcane. Gets stabby crouching R1s and running R2s, which is good for PvP.
    3. Flamberge: After the buffs to this weapons R2 it made the list. Occult affinity + high arcane is like steroids for this weapon. Looks sick.
    4. Grossmesser: Makes the list solely for its esthetics, as the moveset is the standard CS moveset. Reminds me of carthus CS from DS3.

    3. Meteoric Ore Blade. Mostly because of the design. I fell in love with it the moment I first saw it in the digital art book that came with the deluxe edition.
    4. Crescent Moon Axe. Awesome design and the R2s are excellent.
    5. Raptor Talons. Claws are just really fun to use. I love that fast-paced aggressive play style. Not to mention they have the best design out of all the other claws and a unique R2.
Honorable mentions go to Urumi, Godskin Peeler, and Morgott’s Cursed Sword.

Once again, entertaining content from Crightt! going for my own top 5 weapon list:
    5. Halo Scythe: scaling fits my preferred build perfectly, while giving an excellent long range option to deal with large enemies as well as some bleed
    4. Knight's GS: simple and effective, with the Hollowslayer's moveset from DS3 giving access to some true comboes, definitely one of the better weapons for PvP with Storm blade & Vyke's Dragonbolt (I know it's objectively worse than lightning armament... but it's red lightning...)
    3. Vyke's Warspear: again fits my scaling perfectly with an excellent moveset and a really effective AoW in PvE and PvP
    2. Godslayer's GS: one of the best movesets in the game without a doubt, great scaling and an AoW which bosses hate and PvPer's always think they can out trade... they never manage it
    1. Dragonscale Blade: It might not be top tier but it's still my go to primary, so many ways i'd liked to have seen it be buffed (i'm looking at you innate lightning and frostbite, FS why are there so few baked in lightning damage weapons??) but even then it still kicks ass, while looking sick in the process!

As always great video from Chrightt. Here are my top 5.
    5. Urumi and the Nox Flowing Sword. The idea of a sword shaped and acting like a whip or Whip shaped and acting like a sword is so cool. When I did my whip build I added this and the Nox Flowing Sword as they just seemed like opposites and made for a very unique experience of two different unique charged heavies they can ether pierce my opponents or sweep them.
    4. Sword of Night and Flame. Honestly the same exact reasons this weapon was a favourite of yours. When I got this after getting some other legendary weapons I felt like this one was truly legendary. The whole design and function of it was just perfect. The idea of leveling specific stats to maximize damage of one or the other (Int/Fth) is just amazing of itself. And for it being a weapon that functions well for Fundamentalist builds is just perfect but it is a shame that it is the only one of its kind.
    3. Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear. I know everyone used this weapon for it's unique ability then proceeded to not use it after it got nerfed. I loved the weapon regardless because of its unique trident like design. The crude black diamond like rocks around the weapon just clearly spoke that this was a weapon that belonged to Mohg. Much like how Rykard's Sword clearly says it is his sword on design alone. While it has a basic spear moveset, it is a great spear so that just makes it more special. Honestly I love using this weapon even if they nerfed the ability and choose to nerf it into the ground.
    2. Darkmoon Greatsword. Every Fromsoft game that I can get my hands on and has this unique weapon, I make a build for it. I loved it back in demon's souls and hearing that it was going to be in Elden Ring, I worked very hard to get this weapon and it did not disappoint. What made this so special to me was I never looked up any info on the game. Didn't watch youtube or look on social media in fear of spoilers. I played the game for a whole month and looked at every nook and cranny for lore, hidden details, caves and dungeons, bosses, etc. When I completed Ranni's questline I was ecstatic. This whole time I thought Ranni would have Iji or Blaidd hand me the sword as thanks but to have her do it in person, and Ranni's unique ending just tied the whole questline together perfectly.
    1. Royal Greatsword. The sword is simple yet elegant which might be strange to describe for a big two handed sword. However it is also Mournful. The whole of Ranni quest I thought Blaidd was part of it but realizing he was his own that had a hand in completing Ranni's Questline just hurt. We didn't get many interactions with Blaidd so seeing a shadow (invader at the time) of Blaidd was confusing. Hell I even managed to find out about Blaidd being trapped in Darriwil's Evergaol. So finding out that what I can assume is the two fingers decided to let Blaidd off the leash, made him go mad as a last resort stab to Ranni, it just hurt. It felt wrong, hell it was wrong to put Blaidd down. But as he was a Sword Master, he would want a proper death by my hands. He wouldn't want to go on and for the ones he loved to remember him like this. So receiving his weapon was Mournful. I've never used it out of respect to the character. I know this is just a game but damn, to find out the questline ended there just hurt.

    UPDATED IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE!
Dual-Wielded Shamshirs I love the flowing movement and feel of these weapons, and the running and jumping attacks are super fast. Currently running a faith build with flaming strike and sacred blade on these, initially for the style factor, but it's actually proving to be pretty deadly! Currently my favourite, maybe because it's the most recent idea I've had. Definitely number one for style points. Faith scaling both the holy and fire aspects is nice too.
Wing of Astel was one of my first favourite weapons and still is a year later, beautiful form and I love the nebula weapon art and the held R2 attacks. The fact that it pairs so well with a caster playstyle means you have amazing versatility with this.
Grave Scythe because of its short combo, slightly delayed attacks, huge posture damage, and generally intimidating appearance! Yet to pair this with a misericorde for true combo, I ran it mostly with Loretta's Slash for PvE, and also with the Erdtree Seal for incants.
Treespear for its running R2, and I don't normally use big weapons but this one was super fun. It was actually the Chrightt build (light/dark faith build?) that got me into using this, and I was surprised how good it is from start to finish in PvE.
Black Knife for its weapon art and design/use in the plot. The blade of death makes you feel like a badass using some forbidden skill. i've used this on a few faith builds (faith is my favourite playstyle generally).

    5. Beast claw Great hammer: I really like the way it looks and it has a very nice weapon art. I wish it boosted beastial incantations I always use this if I use those anyway.
    4. Lance : The lance is always a go to choice for me in from soft games because it feels like the perfect amount of distance while still doing very decent damage. It also looks really cool to use with a great sheild.
    3. Pulley bow: I'm not a fan of shortbows and this bow is the strongest long bow. I like how it looks as well it has a very technical mechanical vibe to it.
    2. Gargoyle Halberd: I really like the moveset, and I love how it looks
    1. Bloody Helice: This weapon is everything I like in weapons it has very decent damage, it has bleed, it has a very cool aesthetic, and the moveset is perfect. ( I am a 95% pve player)

    My Top 5 Favorite Weapons:
    5. Tie between the Serpent Hunter and the Bloody Helice.
    4. Tie between the Pike, the Commander's Standard , and the Cross Naginata (the ol' reliable options).
    3. Loretta's War Sickle (probably has the greatest harmony of ascetics and move-set for my taste, despite lack of AR).
    2. Powerstanced Hoslow's Petal Whips (often accompanied by a hidden Urumi in a 3rd slot for mix ups).
1b. Technically the favorite melee weapon. The Guardian's Swordspear, either with a shield in the off-hand or powerstanced. I just wished the Loretta's War Sickle performed as well as this, despite that weapon being more visually pleasing to me.
1a. My absolute favorite way to fight in Elden Ring is with powerstanced Dragon Communion Seals. I just greatly enjoy casting dragon incantations, despite the steep drawbacks of slow cast time when compared to most other spells.
Honorable Mentions: My favorite FromSoft weapons of all time are the BKGA from DS3 and Kos Parasite from Bloodborne.

    @sleepyjackdaw Год назад +2

    1. Iron Greatsword. The design reminds me of the drakekeeper ss in DS2, itself a weapon of stark simplicity. More elegant than a mere hunk of iron, but just as brutally straightforward. High base damage and low requirements means it's putting out good numbers on every build, while the moveset and weight makes it a deliberate choice, a preference, a statement, a shackle even. It is an elegant dialectic between realism and impossibility, optimization and meta-hate, the unexpected and the obvious. A weapon I farm on most of my builds, sometimes multiple times. Other greatswords wow me in practice with smoother movesets, mixups, and a rainforest's array of niches; this weapon alone grasps me fully with its implied idealism.
    2. Scythe. Although it can be brutal as a bleed weapon, in game I find myself enjoying this critter on keen and magic. The combo potential (thanks gigas!) and its ability to receive many *fun* ashes puts it above the grave scythe or the other specialized members of its class, while keeping everything I enjoy about the class as a whole intact. The scythe is a rustic yet clean tabula rasa on which infusions, weapon arts, and the full palette of the pleasant moveset so smoothly rests, without resistance, without intrusion. Oh, and the third r1 is a mixup.
    3. All-Knowing's Scepter. A dex-int weapon for the WA-hating bonksmith, a hammer that actually feels like a weapon. Exudes, in the latest patches, a slight scent of hyperarmor. Makes opponents pop BoG in arena (poor fools). One of two weapons to get the poke moveset for hammers, but with length designed for avoiding trades. I guess the WA is useful as a gesture while standing over a fallen foe.
    4. Vulgar Militia Saw (occult). It was between this and Dragon Halberd for the halberd class, but as much as I like vigormax twinking and flat damage buffs (not to mention viable quality scaling), the saw on occult with poison mist is a phenomenon that defines status gameplay for me. Poison mist can grant hyperarmor, rollcatch, chip damage, and a burst of damage buffs reliably, while the bleed functions as a pressure tool. I like how the weapon taught me to enjoy poison as a main dish and bleed as the slowly encroaching, mind-poisoning afterthought - something I love on other weapons too, just not as much as this one. The Dragon Halberd is a weapon, the Saw is a lifestyle that flips the language of the status conditions into something I can enjoy.
    5. Godslayer Greatsword. While I love most of the ultras (even, on rare occasions, the GUGS), this sword has the unique honor of feeling good to sword-and-board with. Yes, I'm addicted to poise. I hate its looks almost as much as I love that of the Troll Knight's Sword, but its performance for my play style outperforms, where the TKS (though undeniably cool af) frequently comes up literally and figuratively short. The fact that it somehow became a comfort pick on the build I run it on says all it needs to. As an aside, this is me notifying phantoms that run this with the fire monk jammies that, yes, I am judging your drip, and I am judging harshly. Deal with it.
Honestly, not entirely sure on the order or even composition of this list, but I've given it at least ten minutes' thought and I'm sure it says more about me than any stranger really wants to know. There are plenty of runner-up weapons, but this is a top five list. I can only dishonestly squeeze two or three entire weapon classes into it.

The Good Ol' Claymore, a familiar and reliable weapon for Souls Veterans everywhere. On my first playthrough, I traveled the intended route down the Penninsula, getting familiar with the game and seeing the beautiful sights, it's definitely my favorite area. Anyway, I felt ready to take on that cool castle at the end. Despite my experience, the enemies were rather difficult and I felt out of my depth, but then I found Old Reliable in that chest and it all clicked for me. #5. Ornamental straight sword- It feels like you have the full boss moveset. I also love the simplicity of its scaling and the reach of the weapon.
#4. Bastard's Stars- The new weapon class fit so well for the theme of the weapon. I love the colors and I never noticed the sound the make, thanks for that.
#3. Dragonscale Blade- The new frozen lightning weapon buff looks great to me. I hope we get to see more.
#2. Gargoyle's Twinblade- I really like the moveset and how it feels using a two handed twinblade in ER. This one specially feels so strong in pve, im using it with seppuku and bleed infused 2 handed(gets great benefit from arcane and strengh reaching the 600 AR and 130 bleed before the seppukku buff).
#1. Marais Executioner's Sword- Another strengh+arcane weapon I carry with that build. The blue runes inscript in the blade and the little thorns around the hilt give it personality at the same time having a simple flat blade. The weapon art and the red effect end up getting this to my top 1

I had feeling Bastard's Star would be a favorite! I love that encounter and the weapon, usually opting for more of a battlemage play style as I gingle at them aggressively. Super armor on such a vulnerable weapon art would be great, though free aiming the weapon art in PvP is already pretty strong cause of it's high burst damage if you just a few of the explosions. 5. Banished Knight's Greatsword: my favorite attack animations in the game, so stylish, really cool looking design too, can work well on pretty much any kind of build. Also pretty strong in pvp, even has combos (jumping light into light).
    4. Beastclaw Greathammer: Looks really unique and powerful, but not very powerful at meta levels. But I run it at level 200 on a quality build, and it slaps. Has a sick ash of war that often one shots if it connects properly, but mainly its just very fun to use.
    3. Godfrey's Axe: Looks so cool, used by such an epic boss. It has a roar that does damage AND is a buff, its great to run around corners and use when being chased in invasions. The heavy attacks it gets are amazing with the roar buff, especially for dealing with groups. The weapon benefits greatly from roar medallion, shard of alexander, and axe talisman, and even an offhand highland axe. I also run this on my 200 quality build, since quality is kinda bad at meta levels, but im sure somebody can optimize it decently for 150 or 168.
    2. Erdsteel Dagger: looks very slick and fancy, oozing with noble drip. Scales off of faith for some reason, Can be infused and given ashes of war and weapon buffed, Has multihit talisman procing heavy attacks. Its awesome in both form and function. Got it to 1077 AR with buffs on my 80fth lvl 150 build. 1077... on a dagger...
    1. Iron Cleaver: Look at that subtle off black coloring, the tasteful thickness of it, oh my god, it even has rust. Pure heavy infused strength bonk trading weapon (same/similar r1 moveset to club), but with a unique heavy attack that makes you chase your enemy down like a psycho as they panic roll in fear, this weapon makes me do sick, disgusting things, but I love it. Works great with weapon buff ash of wars like cragblade for poise damage, or flaming strike for fire and mixups, or sacred blade for a ranged option.
Honorable Mentions (in no particular order): Warped Axe, Great Epee, One-Eye Shield, Erdtree Greatshield, Coil Shield, Dismounter, Brick Hammer, Rusted Anchor, Guardian Swordspear, Nox Flowing Hammer, Ruins Greatsword, Miquellan knight sword.

Really cool to see your top 5 favorite weapons and why you enjoy them.
Here is my top five, and I’ll try and keep the explanations short:
    5. Reduvia: Super fast, sick as hell weapon art that is great for kitting around enemies at mid range, has really fast bleed build up, and I loved using it paired with the dragon communion for a faith/arcane build.
    4. Grave Scythe: I loved power stancing two of them and just feeling like a badass grim reaper.
    3. Carian Knight’s Sword: Was one of the first weapons I really fell in love with, great for a spell blade character, and it’s weapon art, fully charged, just feels like you are slamming an enemy with the smite of a god! It’s great.
    2. Cranial Vessel Candlestand: Not only does the weapon look super goofy, which I love, but it has great fire damage and It does amazing posture damage. The weapon art just feels like you are unleashing the wraith of Pompeii on whatever poor soul is unlucky enough to be standing there.
    1. Blasphemous Blade: This weapon is so sick, the cool life steal passive effect, it’s super cool and powerful weapon art, and it’s design where you can even see the limbs moving all on the sword is a little gross but super cool detail.

    2. Lordsworn straight sword- i like realistic design and square off is a killer. 110 crit is nice after poise break.
    3. Bolt of Graansax- absolute ranged monster. Made wormfaces (i hate them) into a pile of ash.
    4. Darkmoon Greatsword- flashy ash of war, beautiful light and great questline behind it. If not for slamming greatsword moveset would make it higher. Shame i like faith build more.

I wish more one handed axe/hammer weapons were good. I would love an actual warhammer.

Ahh damn, it's nice to see my favorite weapon also be yours!
If I had a list off the top of my head, it'd be something like...
    5. Magma Wyrm's Scalesword. It has the funny cleaver R2, hits like a truck, and the Ash of War is unique for how lava usually works. The hitstun on the lava is fantastic.
    4. Erdsteel Dagger. Not only is it a great weapon for a faith caster, but the semi unique R2 gives it a lot of roll catch potential.
    3. Urumi. I love whips in these games, and the Urumi's unique R2 just sells it so hard for me. If only they had better ash choices.
    2. Sword of Night & Flame. Another favorite of mine, but I think the ash can actually be useful on an int/faith build with many setup spells. Sometimes you can't always dodge in to avoid the flame wave, for example, because there's a spell ready that would catch your roll in.
    1. Bastard's Stars. A potential roll catch that also has lingering AoE explosions? Yes please! Also while flails aren't great, they're half decent on a mage, oddly enough.

    5. Morgott's Cursed Sword - Morgott is cool, sword is cool, weapon art is good AND cool, damage is decent. What's not to like?
    4. The Zweihander - I don't think I need to explain much here. It's all-around solid and beautiful in its relative realism.
    3. Guardian Swordspear - polearms are often, aesthetically and gameplay-wise, my favorite weapons. The Swordspear has cool R1s, is pretty, and not too hard to get, since the Guardians that drop it are quite numerous. It can perform well on many builds and with many different AoWs to mix things up.
    2. Meteoric Ore Blade - IMO very useful unique R2s, very pretty yet subdued design, can be a fancy option for Str-Int mixed melee and casting build, and in PvE Gravitas lets you dunk on annoying swarms of giant bats, if you feel like quickly pushing through some areas where they are numerous.
    1. Nightrider Flail - Flails are cool, Night Cavs are cool, Wild Strikes AoW _feels_ cool on Flails, and it's got respectable damage if optimized. I enjoyed it as my main weapon on my first playthrough, and I've even had some very minor success with it in PvP.

    1. Bloodhound's Fang. Yes, i know its super OP. But in my first playthrough, on the day of this game's release, i blindly stumbled upon this weapon while defeating bosses in Limgrave. Throughout my first playthrough, i would always return to BHF, my old reliable.
    2. Warhawk's Talon. First off, the design is strikingly beautiful. I find that this blade is very satisfying to use in almost every situation, largely due to the quick and gap-closing nature of the moveset.
    3. Flamberge. My live for this rippled greatsword extends beyond ER into all of the DS trilogy. I love greatswords in general due to their movesets, versatility, and overall look. What pushes the Flamberge over the top is that its a DEX weapon (which I prefer more than strength) with a fantastic design and the added bleed bonus.
    4. Godslayer's Greatsword. The fastest of the colossal swords, a flashy and unique weapon art, the DEX/FTH scaling, the lore implications, and perhaps the most stylish design in the game. What more do you need?
    5. Guardian's Swordspear. A fast DEX based halberd with the freedom to put almost any Ash of War on it? And you can get as many as you want in a single playthrough? And it has a cool design to boot? Sign me up!

    5. Helphen's Steeple - I love the weapon's design and I have a fondness for Magic weapons.
    4. Siluria's Tree - The weapon art on this is just so cool.
    3. Rusted Anchor - Swinging around a giant anchor is just awesome, plus, the fact that it does pierce damage makes it doubly unique.
    2. Carian Knight's Sword - This sword looks great, and despite being held back by it's reused weapon art and general inferiority to other straight swords, it is my favorite weapon from my favorite weapon class in the game.
    1. Meteoric Ore Blade - I used this weapon through 90% of my first run through this game. It's weapon art is very underwhelming, but I love that it's the only Katana that scales well to Strength, and once again, I love Magic weapons.

    1. Dark Moon Greatsword - I know this one is used a lot. However after going through so much on this quest line it’s hard not to cherish this weapon. I generally don’t like heavier weapons, but I played NG+ with this weapon because it’s story.
    2. Uchigatana - I played almost my entire first play through (nearly 150 hours) with this sword. I adored the default weapon art and squaring off against my foes. It felt very intentional and fulfilled the Samurai fantasy.
    3. Zamor Curved Sword - I love the entire Zamor set, sword included. The weapon art is strong and unique compared to how little I use frostbite in any other context. The flowing attacks are a great bonus.
    4. Venomous Fang - I’m oddly attracted to poison damage and how viable this weapon is with poison and bleed enables a fun approach to playing. Getting in close and brawling to set status was really different when I started playing it.
    5. Flowing Curved Sword - again this is for the attack style and look of the weapon. But I’ve grown to like it even more as I learned more of the story behind it.

    My favourite weapons are:
    5. Pest's glaive - I like it's unnatural, cosmic look that’s almost sci-fi looking, glaive moveset is also pretty good for baiting some interactions from players and the second r1 combos into third r1. What a shame that almost any halberd outdamages it.
    4. Royal greatsword - the best looking ugs that's also the most devastating weapon on int build. It can be very good in the skilled player's hands. Ash of war looks ferocious, but sadly too impractical to be used in pvp against good players.
    3. Vyke's war spear - as much as I don't enjoy greatspear combat this weapon caught my attention. To make things clear, I only use it against laggards because madness in broken and I don't like using it too much. So this weapons caught my attention because it looks like something that could be straight from Dark Souls 3 and it's my favourite game. I love its weapons and armour sets aesthetic and Vyke's perfectly captures it. So elegant and with perfect balance of fantasy and realistically looking. I like that.
    2. Grave scythe - my baby. I main this weapon in pvp and it's far better than people want you to believe. As a person who dedicated himself to this weapon and spends a lot of time using it, it can still compete against meta setups. Because it requires lot of practise to use and with fact that community sees it more as a fun or meme weapon, it's underused. The only downside is that I'm not a fan of its design, it looks kinda goofy and cartoony, I was hoping for something like Friede's scythe or Crovian's scythe.
    1. Loretta's war sickle - my favourite weapon purely for its design. It has this fancy r1, 1h jumping r2 into r1 combo and is 2nd the longest halberd in the game, but because of its absurd scaling, poor damage (unless you go high level) and inferior ash of war version it's not really worth using. What a shame. I really want to love this weapon.

I’m gonna speak purely from a duel PvP perspective with my top 5, since that’s what I play the most
5# executioners greataxe - it can reach close to 800 phys ar on a heavy infusion and 80 str. It’s 2H running heavy is great. This weapon also scales really well on a bleed infusion because it’s base str scaling is so high. Not to mention the bonus crit dmg, highest range of all GAs and its cool design.
4# warped axe - the unique r1 chain is surprisingly good since most people don’t expect the 2nd attack to come out so quick. Barbaric roar r2 true combos. It also has higher status scaling than other axes, making it good on a bleed infusion for the same reasons the Executioners greataxe is.
3# guardian swordspear - I’ve never ran dex in my life so I can’t say I’ve used this weapon to its fullest potential. That being said, it’s still at #3 so that should tell you how good it is. High dmg and an r1 chain comparable to axes in speed. My only complaint is the swing arc is very odd and can sometimes miss people if they’re a little to your side. Gold weapons also just look better that grey ones imo.
2# hookclaws - they’re light, paired, have the highest base bleed and the recent buff only made them better. They have great options for AoWs but I personally run endure for l1 trades and if I want to use a high windup spell without getting deleted (greyolls roar is my favourite for this strat).
1# cipher pata - I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t biased here since my main PvP build is pure fth. Almost 500 dmg at 80 fth, completely unblockable so bye-bye fingerprint. It’s AoW is great at punishes and the thing just looks amazing. Also completely weightless meaning you don’t need as much End for poise
None of these are very meta I don’t think but they have fun little quirks and uses that I think make them unmatched in certain settings.
    Edit: i can’t spell, apparently

    5 - Katar
Bit of a hassle to get, but I love to pair this with a shield and just jab things to death, not sure why i like it so much, looks neat though.
    4 - Rusted Anchor
I like how wide it’s hitbox is on it’s attacks. Does pierce damage, which makes counter hits absolutely painful, good trade weapon, easy to get, and great design.
    3 - Mace
My old reliable since Demon’s Souls, It still holds up here, (As it does in every game.) Love it’s looks and simplicity.
    2 - Shields. (Specifically Small Shield(R hand)+ Greatshield(L hand)
I like guard counters. Not much to say there really, i like tankier or more defensive builds sometimes. Fun to just shrug off boss attacks. Favorites would probably be Shield of the Guilty Small shield(with Holy Ground AoW) + Icon Shield for regen.
    1 - Erdsteel Dagger
I like how it looks, scaling the physical damage aswell when invested into faith is nice, it has my favorite R2s for daggers, and it’s technically a weapon one of my favorite bosses use. Feels very good to use. Versatile, utilizing Fire damage or Holy damage whatever the case calls for.

The favourites among these (the saw and shield) I had both found very early after wandering into Caelid early on in my first playthrough, and the chainlink flail was soon discovered later, once I had evolved into a Strength/Arcane build. 5. Ruins Greatsword, since it completely turned my first playthrough around, and opened my eyes on the power of STR weapons.
    4. Antspur Rapier, with the ability to have 3 status at the same time on the same weapon, not to mention the great Powerstanced moveset and damage with 2 of them. Was kinda sad they nerfed status build-up, but hey, it was fun while it lasted.
    3. Beastman's Cleaver, I wanted to try it out after your Blackguard video. I was pretty happy to find a way to get it early (Four Belfries > Farum Azula "secret" area) and to tweak the build to my liking. It's a very satisfying weapon with a great design and playstyle.
    2. Troll's Hammer, with one of my favorite Ash of War in Troll's Roar and the recent buff to the Roar Medallion, it quickly became one of my favorite weapons. So much so that I made an entire build based on shouting my enemies to death.
    1. Great Épée. Found early, great moveset, great AoW right off the bat, great scaling across the board, looks amazing and breaks poise like nobody's business. 5) Lucerne: It's the worst halberd but all halberds are good, it just has the best drip.
    4) Dragonscale Blade: Blue lightning that induces frostbite is really cool, and the AR it gives is kinda insane.
    3) Bloodhound's Fang: best curved greatsword. Stupidly high damage, bleed, and can be buffed. It looks the best of its class imo (I need more sleek curves gs in the game)
    2) Estoc: I am addicted to using it's R2 and it comes out pretty fast 2 handed (which I exclusively use with this weapon). The design of the weapon is very beautiful, as well as being good for chase downs.
    1) Lordsworn Greatsword: Greatswords are my favorite class, and I like most of them. I know this weapon is one of the worst ones in damage, not even the crit makes up for it (upside is that the enjoyable fights last longer). The main reason I picked it was that the drip is unparalleled. The blade has a pretty fine point, which feels satisying when using a thrusting aow with it, the leather wrapped ricasso is pleasing to my eyes, the gold coloring on the hilt is beautiful, and it looks like a plausible weapon that could exist irl. Easy number 1 for me, tho I wish it had the mirrah gs R1s (I've heard that it has those R1s in 1.0 but I've never checked)

#2 - Cross Naginata - same reasons you gave
#1 - Zamor Curved Sword - the unique R1 charmed me immediately with its dance-like sweeps, and the AoW is such an awesome tool for overly aggressive opponents. Plus as part of a cosplay of a Zamor warrior, it's some of the coolest drip in the game!

    #1 wing of astel.
I love nonmetal weapons aesthetically, and something about using a relic of some cosmic horror scratches an itch for me as someone who's first soulsy game was bloodborne. To top it off it's a devastatingly scary weapon in the hands of a sorcerer like myself. Pressuring an opponent to run at me because every invader is conditioned to rush mages down only for two light attacks and a tap-heavy to shred 2/3 of their health and send them panic rolling away is a thing of beauty
#2 cipher pata. A weapon made of pure magic is something I've been missing after leaving ds3's demon scar behind, and the bladed fist moveset just feels good. Please give us an infusable one with decent range fromsoft, the arm mounted sword and board carried me during my first playthrough
    #3 the shortspear.
I have been a spear main forever, including the rifle spear in bloodborne before I discovered arcane builds. The repeating thrust heavy attacks honestly feel like better light attacks in most scenarios I come across, and it shreds pretty hard early game uninfused and buffed with a spell
4: the winged scythe. The weapon I first beat the game with, and what convinced me to branch out of one handed weapons. Gorgeous and I love the lore from it as well. Felt like I was granting mercy to invaders by putting them to rest
5: the grafted blade greatsword. It's buff convinced me to try strength builds and I still always default to this thing and I still default to it for aggressive slugging matches
Special thanks to the prince of deaths staff for being so cool. A piece of necromantic root with some crystallized death god blood as a focus

    My favorites are:
1.Sword of Night and Flame. I know it was mentioned in the video already but I really like the sword. It does a great job as serving as an int/faith weapon. The idea and design behind it is fascinating to me. Also the overall strength of the skill makes the weapon more appealing. It’s practically a comet azur without having to give up 3 spell slots, which could be used for more versatile spells.
    2. Raptor talons. As a whole I enjoy the playstyle that claws have. The unique heavy of the raptor talon works really well for activating successive attack tailsman. Running the claws tailsman and cragblade has its jump attacks perform well. Also they build up status really well.
    3. Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword. I find the skill on this sword amazing. I find it really fun to use and would definitely recommend this weapon if running a fire build. The jump you do with the skill can be used to jump over certain attacks and can punish well. The design is really interesting. I’m a fan of the weapons in this game were they appear to of been ripped off the body of an enemy.
    4. Wing of Astel. A great weapon that I found extremely useful in many different situations. The design is unique and that’s what I like about it. I enjoy the more outlandish weapon designs of this game and cannot wait for the new weapons the DLC will bring.
5.Jar Cannon. It’s surprisingly really good with the right setup. However it’s major flaw is that ballistae have no scaling, having it fall off in new game+. Despite this, it’s still fun to use and the best thing about this weapon to me is the lore. It’s description says that is was used during Leyndell assault on Volcano and no one knew how to use it

    3. Bloodhound Fang. Very good scaling, easy to wield, base bleed, buffable, looks sleek, easy to obtain. Incredible weapon thats been buffed serval times due to changes to curved greatswords and fixing the bugged stance damage on jump attacks. Weapon art just makes you feel cool and has a built in evasion/ re-engage.
    2. Envoy's Long Horn. Excellent hammer and shotgunning large enemies with WA has never been more satisfying.

    2. SONAF, for basically every reason you said in this video. Lazer sword go pew
    3. Spiked Caestus. I love the feel of punching large enemies to death, and the more martial arts inspired heavy attacks add a fun flare to the weapon. I just wish fist weapons had more weapon arts designed specifically for them.
    4. Bolt of Gransaxx. Another legendary weapon that really feels like a legendary weapon. You can bully any remotely human sized enemy with it by knocking them over, and the damage on the weapon art is insane. Overall just a lot of fun to use.
    5. Godslayer Greatsword. The Weapon Art, aesthetic, and more of this weapon are what enticed me to use it in the first place, and I kept using it because of how fun it’s faster colossal sword move set feels. kind of difficult since I just think about my favourite weapon classes rather than my favourite individual weapons lol but anyways:
    5. Crescent Moon Axe
Simply love the design of this axe; has such a pleasing shape to it. Greataxes are fun in that they aren't as slow as Colossal Swords and Weapons but still pack a good punch with decent range as well.
    4. Scavenger Curved Sword
Was initially going to put Wing of Astel here, mainly because I used it in my first playthrough and also because of it's unique R2 and strong Ash of War, but the Scavenger Curved Sword wins out for me. Wing of Astel is fun but I love being aggressive with curved swords and dancing around enemies with it; that plus its design and the bleed buildup make it a super fun weapon to use.
    3. Mohgwyn's Great Spear
Honestly, it's hard for me to pick just one weapon from the Great Spear class because pretty much all of them are unique, interesting and good, but I think I'll pick Mohgwyn's because 1. the AoW simply destroys things and 2. it has the longest reach of the Great Spears.
    2. Magma Wyrm's Scalesword
Tossed up between this one and Morgott's Cursed Sword, but I think I prefer this one cuz it's nowhere near as popular :P Seriously though, the AoW has very high hyperarmour, does hella damage on hit + leaves magma pool behind (also has a cool followup where you chop into the ground again while pulling back), I love the jagged edge on the back side of the weapon as well as it being entirely black, Curved Greatswords are fun in general, Strength Faith is fun in general... ok I think that's enough, I think you can tell I like this weapon at this point lol
    1. Nagakiba
Despite how much I gushed about Magma Wyrm's, I'm putting the Nagakiba here because if I was given 1 second to pick a weapon to use for the rest of my time playing Elden Ring and I wasn't allowed to use any other weapon, I'd pick this one in a heartbeat. I simply love everything about the katana moveset: light attacks are fairly fast, heavy attacks are strong and are a long range poke for when I want range + poise damage, running heavy attacks for basically the same reason, Unsheathe is a fantastic AoW (others one like Piercing Fang, Spinning Slash, Bloody Slash are also fun to play with)... not to mention the cool moveset when you powerstance katanas as well. Only thing I want is for katana parry to come back... couldn't get enough of katana parrying people and some bosses in DS3.
Overall though, I think FromSoft did a pretty good job at making most weapons fun to play around with, especially after the buffs to a lot of the underused weapon classes (I've recently being doing a Venomous Fang playthrough with blood infusion, it seriously shreds bosses once you get an opening), so this list was a bit harder to make than I thought :P

Very good AR (better than some colossals at half the weight), decent range, good attack speed and recovery (esp after 1.09), well above average stance damage, does extra damage to Radagon, crystalians and gargoyles. Works good with Cold too, if you want to do some Vordt cosplay. 2. Golem`s Halberd. Very good AR, very good charged R2s, very good range. Great with Lion`s Claw. 3. Clayman's Harpoon with Ice Spear and Cold infusion. A projectile that routinely does over 2.5 k damage plus frost build-up? Yes, please. 4. Blood Bandit`s Curved Swords. 3. Black Knife, I like the black knife assassins and the weapon art on this is really useful.
    4. Reduvia, this carried me for a good portion of the game up until around leyndel, I used the Wakizashi and uchigatana but they were both low level so I ended up pulling out the reduvia a ton to get some range and extra damage
    5. Gravel Stone seal, This one might be cheating kinda but I love incantations in elden ring and I push my faith up to 47 on most builds just so I can use all of the cool ones.
Honorable mention would be the misericorde I usually run it or the black knife for crits after parries but if I’m facing a boss who can be partied I usually will use the misericorde, if the boss resists slash or can’t be parried I’ll use the black knife.

    3. Death's Poker. I agree on your point with sonaf. We need more weapons with 2 options for their weapon skill. While I hate the deathrite birds with an immense fashion, just another weapon I personally really enjoy. Though I always question why it's a great sword.
    4. Nagakiba - ridiculous reach and the signature weapon of one of my OCs
    5. Broadsword - best straight sword Fite me. Was my first ever Souls weapon and its just so versatile.

    5. Nightrider Glaive- I love the look and feel of the moveset, 1 or 2 handed
    4. Morning Star- My go-to strike damage weapon between my 2 playthroughs. Guard counter wiffs on rats and dogs, but is otherwise reliable. Bleed is a nice added bonus, and it's flexible on ashes.
    3. Eleonora's Poleblade- I didn't give poleblades a fair shake during my first playthrough (I immediately fell in love with guard counters) but this weapon has put in some great work on my Faith/arcane character.
    2. Moonveil- Potent weapon art, good range and stance damage. One of the weapons I'd pull out for bosses who I'm having trouble against but otherwise hesitate to use because I think it's OP
    1. Sacrificial Axe- My bread and butter. Fast and reliable guard counters and charged attacks. FP on kill from very early in the game. Decent stance damage. Flexible when it comes to ashes of war. And that is all before the buffs from 1.08 and 1.09

Oh man, it's hard to make my top 5, but I will attempt it.
    1) Ordovis greatsword. It was really hard to choose between the many greatswords I like. However, this one has to be it. Design, link to one if my favourite enemy classes, great and fun weapon art, and its a greatsword.
    2) Dragon Cragblade. Getting it from one of the coolest bossfights in the game and it performs and looks great.
    3) Cross Naginata. Pretty much the same reasons you mentioned. It just feels good to use double handed.
    4) Nightrider Glaive. Halberds are fun to use in general, and this one hits hard and looks good. It feels bad to omit Guardian Swordspear here.
    5) Marika's Hammer. Just too much fun to use.
Honourable mentions to Guardian Swordspear, Grave Scythe, many Greatswords, Zweihander, Cipher Pata, Omenkiller Cleaver and Executioner Greataxe.

I love this list. My top 5:
5: Misericorde: You said it better than I could.
4: Bloodhound's Fang: It's OP, sure, but man it just does so much well while also "feeling" simple and humble. It's just a reliable workhorse of a weapon.
3: Iron Greatsword: It's everything a greatsword should be: powerful, heavy, and flexible. It's simple in design but just perfect at what it does.
2: Dragon King's Cragblade. I love the AoW and design. Appearing out of cloud of red lightning and absolutely crushing your enemies is amazing. It truly captures the essence of Placidusax, one of the coolest, best fights in the game (imo), and turns it into an awesome weapon.
1: Bolt of Gransax: Just all around S-tier imo. The flavor, the lore, the design, the fact that you're literally throwing lightning bolts from on-high, it's just perfect. It executes the idea of its concept perfectly, imo.

5 Great Epée- It fails compared to the godskin stitcher in a lot of places- but being better in Heavy is where it shines- this allows one to have the strength for a respectable greatshield, and having both blocks and feints at your disposal gives you a wide array of defensive responses. Not to mention the refined style of an overgrown rapier.
4 Guardian's Sword Spear- the moveset with these always feels like it has *just* that extra bit of reach that matters, and the moveset is incredibly fun- not to mention it pairs well with a number of Ashes
3 Nagakiba- My first playthrough, I went most of the beginning with the Uchigatana- until I found the Even-Bigger-Uchigatana. It's a little goofy, but it looks so wonderful and elegant with Sword Dance as its Ash
2 Great Stars- the stance damage and bleed on top is a *heavy* combo, and being able to run up to Altus and get this right out of the gate is definitely a boon
1 Inquisitor's Grandiole- the good base damage and high faith scaling make this really fun on a faith build, and the bleed pairs well with the Ash of war, despite the Ash sadly not being unique- I can't neglect the reason I first picked it up though- the candle-tipped fork is a beautiful design, and being described as a torture implement adds something dire to the flavour

Ooh, I actually really like the Inquisitor's Girandole as well. Easily my favorite spear. Whenever I get really worked up about an opponent or the game in general I just switch to my lower level str/fth build and do some duels with the Girandole. The fire sounds it produces are a nice touch and are really relaxing. Now that I think about it, it's really ironic that I use a torture device in order to relax lmao.

    1. I will always hold whatever rendition of the Moonlight Greatsword is in that game as my favorite in every souls game. So here goes the Darkmoon Greatsword. Super pretty, great weapon art, and I love the change to the heavy attacks with the weapon art.
    2. Probably the Urumi, its just so fun moveset wise, it feels less like a basic "whip" and more like a flexible spear with that charged R2.
    3. I'd go with the viper head fists, pretty fun to play around with the deadly poison and also lots of variety you can do with builds (Resolve jump attacks for example).
    4. Rusted Anchor here, I really like that you can do a pierce related build with it (and also being a literal Anchorman is always funny).
    5. Mohg's spear for fifth place. It's the first time I've enjoyed using a great spear in a souls game. The moveset is pretty fun, the weapon art is flashy and also has tech with how many times you want to use it, and it's overall just a blast!

    1. Raptor Talons - design, unique r2, bonus all fit together with the armor as a nice package.
    2. Guts Greatsword - I am a sucker for big swords and anime.
    3. Blasphemous Blade - Op, fun to play, and fits of what I think a boss weapon should be.
    4. Banished Knights Greatsword - design and pretty good early to mid game. I playing and looking like a traditional knight.
    5. Sword of Night and Flame - it is awesome for all the reason you mentioned.
I really like a lot of the Greatswords, because of their lore and designs. I didn't want it to be all greatswords.

    1. Greatsword i know it’s basic, but i love colossal weapons in souls games and the freedom to choose an ash of war is nice
2.Moonlight greatsword This might be my favorite looking weapon in the game and it’s legacy is iconic
    3. Bloody helice The ash of war feels good and the design looks so good
4.sword of night and flame very nice design and the versatility of the weapon art is decent
    5. Maliketh’s black blade I love everything about it but the design to me looks straight ugly, but the ash of war makes you feel like a badass, also for me it’s just outclassed by the greatsword as a colossal weapon

    5. Zweihander.
I think it strikes a nice balance where it's not so large it looks ridiculous but also every swing has huge impact.
    4. Flamberge.
I have a personal affinity for flamberges, their designs are so beautiful.
    3. Dismounter.
This is the weapon I used on my first playthrough, I was immediately intrigued by the Kaiden Sellswords and basically cosplayed as one of them the entire game. I love everything about it, from the grounded-fantasy design to the name of the weapon itself. Shame that nothing like curved greatswords really exist.
    2. Carian Knight's Sword.
This one is mostly to due with how much I enjoy the Carian Knights and their whole enchanted knight aesthetic in general. My fondness for this weapon is hard-carried by the armor and shield and story etc. lol
    1. Golden Epitaph.
I am hopelessly biased towards any and all callbacks to Demon's Souls. Literally the only reason I like this is that it's the Rune Sword, and that fact alone is enough to get it to #1.
Barely not making the list at #6 is the Inseparable Sword, purely because D's appearance is some of the best character design I've ever seen. Your videos are great btw, I'd love to see more videos like this along with your usual analytical/informational stuff.

My personal favorite weapons (no particular order):
    Bloodhound's Fang/Morgott's Cursed Greatsword
    Giant's Red Braid
    Bloody Helice
    Meteorite Staff
    Moonveil
    Honorable Mention: Nightrider Flail/Bastard's Stars
For the curved greatswords (cgs) I started a new playthrough recently to try them out since I hadn't played with that class yet and the 1.09 buffs made them feel amazing. Bloodhound's Fang felt amazing to use and very rewarding to use especially its ash of war (aow) to dodge/i-frame attacks. Morgott's cgs is super cool to use as well. I learned about the new combo attack using the first hit of the aow into a R1 to help lock down human sized opponents and invaders npcs. They were amazing. RIP my 90 hr playthrough that got corrupted a few days ago.
Giant's Red Braid is a whip I don't see too much of on youtube but discovered it during my STR/FTH build. I love the unique ash for wave clear. It kicks ass against Malenia too. It just overall seems very solid, truly an under appreciated whip.
Bloody Helice I tried out after looking at a Scott Jund video. It's super fun using it's aow.
Meteorite Staff and Moonveil were both weapons I used in my first playthrough at launch as a caster. I didn't use moonveil a lot surprisingly just because it was overpowered and felt too strong for my first playthrough. I kept it in the back pocket though when things got rough and just wanted something dead (looking at you Caelid Bell Bearing Hunter and Malenia). Meteorite was my baby though; used that mfer on everything that moved with Rock Sling. Stayed relevant for a very long time until I could get proper end game staff (Carian Regal Staff).
As for the flails, I also used them during my caster playthrough but didn't want to included anything already mentioned in Chrightt's video. I was a fan of flails because they stuck out to me as a unique weapon class and could be ran as a good option for mines and similar enemy types for my caster. Still hoping the class gets further buffs to be a truly viable melee option; not op but just solid and reliable.

    1. Banished knight halberd: low stat requirements so it works on any build, great at spacing and roll catching, feels like a spear with actual weight behind it, versatile move set for both pvp and pve, can be acquired at +8 super early by killing edgar in the weeping peninsula
    2. Knights greatsword: also works on any build, has a fun true combo for pvp, fast attacks, can use a lot of ashes of war, great range, feels powerful (especially on high poise enemies like leyndell knights), can be acquired early
    3. Serpent hunter: easily upgraded, high damage, roll catch king, crazy crouch poke, my ol' reliable for strength builds
    4. Zweihander: satisfying r2, low stat requirements (for a colossal sword), big beautiful bonk
    5. Cleanrot knight's sword: best thrusting sword on most infusions, exceptional against low poise enemies (light roll counter), great for trading (thrusting damage) and spacing, fast and reliable, great for off-handing with my other favorite weapons for the occasional fast hit, close-quarters trading, or roll catches

    3. Pots - versatile, ranged, buffable. Good for certain cheeses.
    2. Pulley Bow - stealthily sniping is the best way for me to manage PvE.
    1. Raptor Talons - using the multi-hit buffs to shred has been fun. The get-in, get-out charged R2s are sometimes useful.
and uh I dunno, two others. There are lots of cool things that I just haven't used yet.

1: knight's greatsword. just a super cool design with my favourite moveset in the series, it references dark souls 2 and has fun combos
2: nightrider glaive. first weapon i saw on my first playthrough and went "i need that." just from its visuals alone. super fun to use with braggarts roar
3: axe of godfrey. its weapon art and associated special r2s are so much fun to use in the 3v3 arena and its look is iconic
4: loretta's war sickle. i beat the game with it, so im attached. cool moveset, incredible design as a glaive liker.
5: jar cannon because i am an invader

    5. Zamor Curved Sword
Love cold damage and the unique attack chain.
    4. Erdsteel Dagger
Specifically, in combination with Chilling Mist and a Perfumer's style build with spark aromatics to reset off of cold procs. The heavy attack chain hits multiple times for a very fast cold proc on most enemies.
    3. Beastman's Jar Shield
Sorry about this, as it's technically not a "weapon" but something about just powerstancing two halves of a giant pot is so fun, nearly entirely here for just aesthetic reasons.
    2. Jar Cannon
Hits hard and doing a playthrough revolved entirely around it teaches you many tricks and unique techs you don't get to experience on the average run.
    1. Family Heads
The perfect combination of lore, aesthetic, combat viability, and sound design. Viable to be taken into NG+ and the AoW gives you an innate option for ranged. Used in combo with both branchswords, twinbird kiteshield, royal remains set, and as much vigor as you can realistically get for a fun build.

    5. Crescent Moon Axe primarily for the aesthetic. I like to give it a blood enchantment even though it isn't optimal for the satisfaction of swiping it through an enemy and taking a huge chunk of HP off them in one go.
    4. Halo Scythe for the lore, moveset, and aesthetic. Spamming its weapon art can be pretty satisfying in both PVE and PVP.
    3. Dismounter for the moveset and the aesthetic. The first time I saw a Kaiden mercenary wielding one I knew I needed it. I like using it with Flaming Strike, because it's great in PVE and even pretty good in PVP since you can do mixups with it, and if you can land the full art it does insane damage.
    2. Great Mace because it's the closest thing to the look of my favorite Souls weapon of all time, Vordt's Great Hammer.
    1. Helphen's Steeple for the weapon art and aesthetic. I love the flaming sword look and I love cold enchantments, but I hate doing caster builds, so this lets me use a cold flaming sword without being primarily a caster.
