Fuck me, some of those sounds were uncanny. If I closed my eyes I would swear I was listening to isolated tracks from the album.
Good choice of gear.
Hi Colin, cheers from Canada
+CSGuitars Colin, I read this in your voice. Greetings from the Philippines.
Thanks man. I really appreciate that, I love incubus and was really happy to get to do this one!
+Dominic Fernando so did I
+Rabea Massaad You nailed Incubus feel and tone - well played, sir, well played...
You should consider filming and including the gear choosing process at Andertons again. They were a fun part of the old format and being immediately spoiled of the equipment you chose within the first seconds if the video can be kind of a let down.
I usually have some form of constructive criticism for these videos but you were spot in this time guys! Love Incubus and I think you nailed the Morning View tone. Einziger has been one of my biggest influences and you've done him justice.
Thank you man! Really proud of this episode!
I totally agree with you they really out did themselves with this one. Spot on
me too
+Rabea Massaad Going to watch Morning View sessions DVD after watching this.
+Tom's Green Mind Yeeeeaaaaaaah, good call :)
"Then we both, just keep both playing that note. Every once in a while bend it. And that's it and just remember who wrote that song - me, baby, me!"
Hahahahahahah so glad you watched that until the end
+Rabea Massaad Mate, anyone who would cut these videos short deserves to miss out.
Hahaha!!!
+Hawx Lol, didnt watch to the end ,but saw the comment and remembered tenacious d!
"That's one song in the bank. Next song. Next song. NEXT!" "You didn't write that, just..." "Dude I did, I told you to do the bending every once in a while!" "Oh you did, shit." "Woohoo! I win! I win, one to nothing!"
Mikey hasn't played PRS in many years. ..since like '03. He used Jazzmasters and SGs with an AC 30 and old Marshall Plexi for Crow and Grendades. For the 2011 record and the new stuff, he's using teles. In fact, on the 2011 record (If Not Now When).. he used a Squier Classic Vibe '69 Thinline. He still uses them, but with Fender/replacement necks so they can withstand touring. He is back to using the Mesas, though. Same Rectoverbs. Just adding some info for those who are interested. :) Great job, Rab!
+KONAROCK1 I know, I saw them live last month, but he still nailed the tones! most of them sounded perfectly!
Wow, you really know your stuff. I have NO idea what you're talking about since I'm not a musician, just a huge fan of Incubus. But I like how you know what pedals he uses.
This is probably the closest I've heard you guys get to the guitarist's actual tone before. I mean, it's pretty damn uncanny to my ear for some of those songs. I had to watch this one over again just to appreciate it in full.
The chord progression in Just a Phase is my favourite guitar part in any Incubus song! So awesome!
That riff from Echo is one of the best ever just amazing.
This was about as spot on as one could get.. mentioning The Warmth... such a fantastic song, one of my all time favorites, not even just from incubus but ever.
This is probably the billionth time I have come back to this videos because I love the song choices you used to sound like Mike. Definitely one of my favorite videos on RUclips! Great job guys!
great to see the thinking phase is back!
I like that - 'the thinking phase'... :-)
+Yesidoplaytheguitar Agreed, but I'd still like to see them picking stuff out of the store.
+MIR yep, bring back video of them in the store!
Glad this series is back, another great choice! Need to see you back in the shop picking the gear!
The pub planning segment was great. Well done! Adds something different and stops that "one take in a room" feeling.
Don't beat me up, but in my opinion this is the best 'Sounds Like' yet. The deep thought discussion & planning part gives it the edge. Cheers Matt, and Bea.
Loved it! Only just discovered these little gems and now I'm on a watch all the 'Sounds Like' marathon!
Keep it up!
I have watched several of these "sound like" videos, and this one is by far the best. Really nice job, guys.
Brilliant job! That was the best "sounds like" yet. You nailed most of those. Respect. Early Incubus ftw!
i think this is closest ive heard you guys come to the original!
was glad to see some incubus love, hard to come by these days
MASTODON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES!!!
Last video bea sent a wink face thing to somebody who said mastodon, i think it's coming, then i think i will be too....
+Sammy pc YASSSSS
yes, I would have a" run around the house wank" if they did that .
+Sammy pc yessss
This is the best one you have done so far, to get all those tones from the Mobius, amazing effort!!
This was phenomenal. Spot on tones and one of my most significant guitar influences. Thank you for this.
Beautifully played! He really captured the Mike's vibe SUPER authentically.
Love this video guys! it's great to see how passionate You guys are about this band (especially Rabea) and it really shows well in the final result. You guys nailed the sound on this one! Love these videos, They're great for hearing new riffs and sounds from bands you love and bands you might not know as well. Anyways Cheers guys Keep them coming!
Echo sounds like it's from the recording. Bloody well done!
Not only was this a great episode for tones, but I love the amount of phat incubus riffs you played! This fellow fan is very pleased.
one of your strongest vids. smashed the tone here. very impressed
Sounds like Nuno Bettencourt!! That would be a tasty one for you Bea!
Some of these sounds are absolutely pitch perfect, especially the opening riff on The Warmth. Nice job dudes
He used Trem-o-verbs, I used to have one and it nailed his tone. I ended up selling it because it was a complete anvil. It was a dual rec, rather than the single on the recto but they were very similar. I'm fairly certain almost all of a crow left of the murder is either a Jazzmaster or telecaster thinline. I can definitely say on his earlier work and morning view he used PRS heavily.
That Echo bit gave me goosebumps... Well done, guys!
Amazing and incredible rig! congrats for the choice of these axes!
Guys, so awesome. Absolutely nailed the tone, well done! I've been a fan of Incubus for years, and you guys just killed it. SO cool. Cheers!
Thanks a lot for doing my favorite band!!! you guys out did it on this one.
This is one of those that I clicked the like button before watching the video. Just totally love Incubus and the tone was spot on!
Thanks for doing this one guys. Incubus are my all time favourite band. I used to have a replica of mikes pedal board!!!! Awesome band!
Best channel ever! Entertainment, fun and knowledge! I like it!
Thanks and greetzzz from Germany!
The best and most underrated sound like ever! Spot on guys. Watch this at least every two months
My all time favorite band since 1999.Btw, that ring modulator on glass sounds totally the same as in recording! Blew my mind
‘The Warmth’ sounded absolutely spot on to me!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Today's my birthday and Incubus is my favorite band in the universe!! Watching Rabea playing most of my favorite Incubus riffs feels like a present to me from Anderton's. If I we're in the UK I'd totally get that Mobius from Anderton's.
I love what you guys do! You give obtainable options to young people and beginners! Well done!
Hell ya Rabea! Mike Einziger single handedly got me into the world of effects when I first started playing. You nailed some of tones dude!
Keep em coming! This is one of my favorite things to watch on RUclips. How about a sound like Stryper vid?
Yup... You guys nailed it.
Great job guys. I love how instead of going to the store you sat at a pub talking about gear. Nice change from the norm.
Awesome. Love Incubus.
I liked the beginning with you guys breaking it down what you need and everything
#1 episode. Amazing.
one of the best sounds like, for sure!!
awesome work, awesome band
Probably not my favorite band, but my favorite sounds like video due to the content. Loved that talking and drinking scene, very creative!
you guys nailed this one. I love incubus but they re so hard to imitate! Just a phase is one of the most beautiful songs ever written!
Ah, guys, so nice to see you, and a great episode. Thanks!
It's actually ridiculous how close these sounds are to the studio album. The Warmth was almost impossible to distinguish. Really good job!
You really nailed those tones to perfection! And played most of the riffs perfectly!
I would even record and tour with this rig!
Great that you did this on Mike Einzinger/Incubus. I was also curious about what he uses and how to sound like him. You did an awesome job on this!
THANK YOU Bea for this!! Mikey is my guy!!
Wow...excellent job, guys!
Incubus is my favourite band in the world, and Mikey is an awesome player. It's great how close you got to the Make Yourself and Morning View era, but i like his Fender tone from ACLOTM (my favourite record alltime). Maybe a squier jazzmaster. But overall it sounds pretty great, loved the amp choice!
I love INCUBUS! Thanks for the video!
best one yet. nice work.
Sounds fantastic - keep up the great work.
I love the intro vibe!
I could listen to you forever playing echo!!
How did I miss this one.........👍🏻 ace job chaps
Love this vid, perfect tones!
This one was great, all the science stuff was spot on.
Thank you so much guys, I love Incubus and this was very inspirational :)
Sounds great, morning view tones spot on. Loved that album - not so much afterwards!
absolutely, ducking amazing
i love the sitting down in the pub thing its something different to walking round the shop but its still cool
Dude yall nailed this one! Love me some Incubus!
I'd love to see some bass episodes of this! :) Great video.
Make Yourself is easily one of my favorite albums of all time. 👍🏻
Yeah, yeah... You guys 'killed it'!!! Awesome sound!
bea the fact you like incubus so much you are now
my fav
You lot always do a great job
You nailed it. NOW: I need a more in depth demo showing the pedals, settings etc. Thanks!
You have excelled yourselves!
You guys were spot on with the tones!
Thanks man, I'm proud of this one, they're probably one of my all time favourite bands so wanted it to be perfect!
+Rabea Massaad How about Nuno next? He's got some awesome tones and I'd dig to see you playing some lics of his. (I know you are a fan haha)
+Rabea Massaad soo glad u did this!! spot on!! im a guitarist and a huge incubus fan! if u can learn the sax solo from antigravity on guitar that would be EPIC!! GREAT VID GUYS
Great video. That rig is so close it is unreal.
love love love -- revisited 5 times
Best one yet, well done guys👍🏻
👍🏻
This one was really good. Love the strymon stuff. I have the timeline. Want a möbius now
Great video! You guys really got close to what Mike sounds like.
That was dope. Incubus is my favorite
Best band of all time, IMO. This was great great GREAT! Mike is a musical genius.
Are you f*cking kidding me?! That sound was spot on... Good job! What a great series.
Amazing! Surprised we didn’t do any of his solos! Quite a few on ACLOTM and a couple others as well. Wonderful video though guys!
Holy shit. A certain shade of green was spot on. Awesome video!
I miss the parts where you are in the store talking about what gear to use. I grew up where the closest guitar store was over 3 hours away and seeing you guys going through Andertons brought back the giddy part of shopping for a new guitar. Sitting down and talking about the gear was an improvement. Love the videos and keep up the good work!
Thank you for doing this one guys I know I asked a few time for incubus so was very please to see this take care and hope to see some more music from my teen years ,and remember "don't ever let life pass you bye"
Incubus is awesome. Nicely done boys
Stunning
THIS IS THE VIDEO I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR
Absolutely nailed it. Bea didn't just learn those riffs for the video - they we're delivered on spot and obviously he played them a lot wich is great. I love the thinline teles Einzinger plays recently but for the most important albums of his career the PRS is significant.
That Circles riff was just on point
Best sounds like yet with out a doubt!! Amazing. What channel is being used for the clean tones?
Awesome job!!
Electric Wizard- Dopethrone!
