Mike Einziger seriously scary good musician. Coming from a seasoned guitarist, his playing is not of this generation. He’s ahead of his time. His concept of intervals and unique chord inversions is second to none
"Make Yourself" is one of the best records i ever heard & can reach fans of any & every genre .... I just listened to it last week & it still hyits me in the gut in so many ways .... Very inspirational album .
I saw Incubus and 311 in 1999 on their "Make yourself' tour. I wasn't very familiar with them then, but holy shit man! Most bad ass show I've been to. I love their music still, and definitely made themselves with that tour.
This album literally saved my life, it's the very first album I ever fell deeply in love with, I was 14 I had my first kiss by my first boyfriend to this band, 20 years later were still best friends and when we play this album all the great memories flood back. Brandon Boyds voice is my inspiration to become a singer myself and now my kid is 14, and she's a fan. I absolutely love this band, always♡
My middle school years and beyond, INCUBUS is everything to me!!! "Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear" Listening to the Make Yourself album was electrifying as well as chill. I went on a huge binge delving through almost the entire discography at one point. Spotify is in the mix, so I'm glad to re-experience it all!!!
I have been an incubus fan for about 20 years and I went back the other day and added their music to a playlist for a roadtrip. As I was listning to the music on the road I payed a lot more attention to the lyrics. I went though my spiritual awakening a few years back, so hearing the lyrics with my new ears meant a whole lont more to me. I think what Brian is saying about channeling or going back and realizing the meaning of the lyrics is spot on. When I listned to the songs with new ears I felt that the lyrics were those of an awakened person.
Clean is still in my top 10 songs of all time. I’ve been listening to this album a lot the last couple weeks and glad this interview was made. Thanks Loudwire.
I still remember covering Nowhere Fast in my friend's basement when I was 15 yrs old. The first thing I thought when hearing Brandon's voice for the first time was, "He sounds like Anthony Kiedis." I never thought that ever since tho haha.
20 years???? Damn I’m getting old 😫 I listened to them with the Walkman that constantly skipped or the tape connected to the Walkman that played through the car speakers that also constantly skipped... yep I’m old.
One of my all time favorite bands! Brandon you are still GORGEOUS & a poetic GOD! Been jamming with you guys since 95'! Cannot wait to see you again, Musikfest Aug 7th! I pray you play 11am.
I was 16 or 17 when this album came out, I used to love to drop LSD in my bedroom and listen to this album thru headphones! Those were the good ole days!
I still have my original disc I bought back in 2000 and I really need to get it restored since I played it thousands of times. Same with my Morning View disc, damn those were good and bad times.
You're maybe right. They released 8 a few years ago and an EP. But they're always touring. I always see them in Vegas, crazy how some fans I've met fly from Brazil and Australia to see them.
Yeah. I saw em on the tour when honda was sponsoring it and that was amazing for sure I wont deny that. Every one has to let go when its time. That music is just dated and I dont really know what other words but uninteresting amd these comments praise the subpar recent performance like they are heros or something liiiike bruh any first year guitar student can play those chops. Its all just so basic. If it came out today it would be chicks music only i feel. I appreciate the early work up to morning view and it was all inspiring and made me become a dj in a band but they strayed to far From dreads to bowties and suspenders. 😂😂
20 years omg this album was what woke up my love for them i first Listend to them when i was 12. Im now 29 dammm how time flies.. You guys are the best
This album inspired me to start a band in high school, the warmth was my and is my favorite. Thanks to you I have enjoyed a career in music that I am happy with and it's thanks to you and some of your peers. thank you
remember hearing them for hte first time on a various artists album including Korn and Limp Bizkit and such. Incubus turned out to be one of the bands w/ the most longevity on that disc
My first date with my wife was an Incubus show way back in 2000....and we went to the 20 years of Make Yourself show last fall at the Warner in DC. Love this band.
When I was around 8 years old I couldn't get a particular song out of my head, but I didn't knew the song, I've been dreaming it, huming it all the time, and after awhile I asked my mom if she recognized it and she told me that she was listening to this song (Drive) and album while she was pregnant soo.... I've been listening to Incubus since before I was born. (I'm 19 now)
I have been on an Incubus binge for the last month or so and was wondering if people even knew who they were, then coincidentally this video gets uploaded
If people even know who they were?? WHAT??? Incubus has been one of the best bands out there. You must be very young. But thanks for becoming a fan, never too late. You have good taste.
I remember being exactly 20 years old going to an Incubus concert for the first time in SF and how beautiful the experience was. The visuals behind each song was like what I experienced many years later on mushrooms. Ahhhhh....anyway....We were all so young back then :)
I remember I'd bought make yourself cassette album.i am amazed of guitar riffs and effects of stellar the warmth. pardon me and i miss you..I play 10x everyday with a feeling of floating in euphorea.. that was the year 2000..
i honestly have to give the hugest thanks to my older brother. if it hadnt been for him giving me his entire cd collection when he moved, i wouldnt have found this masterpiece of an album and discover the many bands i listen to this day.
To be honest, I bought the "When Incubus Attacks" CD at Tower Records because of the robot design on the cover, the local radio rock station didn't even play any Incubus songs at that time. After listening to the CD, I went back to Tower Records and bought the "Make Yourself" CD the following week. Till this day I still have both CD's (as well as other Incubus releases) with me. My favorite song from both albums is "Consequence". It's good to see a band like Incubus make it this far.
I was 16 in 2000 when I heard Stellar for the first time. After that I was obsessed with this band. I wanted my guitar playing to sound like Mike’s. I have seen them about 11 times since 2003. After this last concert where they played a lot of filler, I told myself I wouldn’t see them again for a while. But now I’m seeing them play one of my favorite albums ever in it’s entirety in November and I cannot wait.
For any of you that haven't watched them live, Please DO!! They are the best live band I have ever watched (Granted I haven't watched The Who, but pretty much I have seen everything else)
Pardon Me on some weird sampler CD, was really cool but no clue who the band was. Then Drive on MTV on rotation and finally it clicked, got every album, went to 4 concerts. Best musical phase of my life.
God I wish I could tell one day this amazing guys how much their music helped me back in 2000 in a very very bad moment in my life. Thank you Brandon, Thank you Incubus.
20 years goes by so damn fast. Make Yourself is still my absolute favorite of theirs. I still remember being 19 and buying this album! They sounded like nothing else I had ever heard.
'MAKE YOURSELF' just brings back such amazing memories. The summer of '99 i was going into my sophmore year of highschool, the summer i lost my virginity and started truly filling out into a man. The days spent playing the album in our buddies van in the car cd player with all of us on our way to the lake to jump off the KEEP OUT and TURBINES at the dam. Truly amazing days. That summer awoken my spirit as i changed into someone and something i really miss. Those care free days were sacred. I will never forget the crazy and wild shit we did. That was the best summer on record to this day, alot have come close, but that one specific summer had it all. Love, sex, friends, fun, a little weed and beer, the garage band that Corey Beaulieu of Trivium and I started when we were still best friends, and the amount of girls i started attracting that summer was mind blowing. A time when i was truly genuine and lived life for me and no one else...thank you INCUBUS, i seriously treasure the days spent blaring that whole album wherever our crew went together. I still love and listen to you guys to this day. Forever, Enjoy Incubus!!!!
They played this show in Cinci on my bday, which i'd been aware of for month in advance and was oh so psyched for, but life circumstances (new job, strict penalties, and ultimately . . . Weather) prevented my attendance. Regardless, this album was the first "rock" album I ever purchased and beholds timeless inspiration; to know, believe in and act in favor of YOU, ALWAYS! (absent the all too frequent narcissistic tendencies) It also acknowledges some disparities in this world, as well as lends to a few strengths required to survive it intact. I momentarily regret not witnessing this event, but their insights have and will always guide their listeners correctly. One of the many reason I will always praise Incubus!
Mike Einziger seriously scary good musician. Coming from a seasoned guitarist, his playing is not of this generation. He’s ahead of his time. His concept of intervals and unique chord inversions is second to none
I concur. He's underrated as a guitarist. Dirk Lance (Alex??) was an amazing bassist too
Prof K yupp
I freaked a few weeks ago when I watched a doc on Evvici and Einziger was a co-producer in his latest album. Mike is tha man.
Probably one of the best users of effects I’ve ever heard, particularly phaser, delay and volume swells etc.
He's alright
1st year highschool, im 12 years old when i first listened to incubus.
Now im 33, still listening to them 👌🏼👌🏼
I Listend to them at 12 for the first time im now 29 dammm time flies bro
My mother put his songs when I was born til now I'm 18 about turn 19 in August10th and I'm still listening
Dominic Ang this was the 3rd cd I ever bought and 1 of only 2 cds that rolled with me when I got my drivers license. I’m 35 now. Such awesome times.
i was just listening to that album a few days ago, 20 years? ah crap i'm old.
Doogie H .. thats equivalent to 7th grade in asia bro.. we call it 1st year highschool
Morning view is such a masterpiece,.
It really is. I'm so nostalgic for that time and those sounds.
warning is the best song on that album no doubt
I love Morning Veiw equally to Make Yourself
I wasn't alive when this album was created or realized. But by far the most influential in my life. Thank you so much incubus
20 years already!? Awesome! This is my favorite Incubus album. “The Warmth” is one of my favorite songs ever
Definetely bro
2nd warmth
The Warmth, that first track and I Miss You are probably my 3 favs on that album. I like the Science album better.
love that song
Can't believe its been 20 years already and awesome they are still going strong!!
Artist & Band News by Michael Nagy cool channel so I subbed...
There the best
Sort of strong. They're last album didn't really do too well unfortunately.
Strong....
Shut yo ass up
@@Giovanni6501 Sadly, yes. Even though I personally loved it.
I just introduced my teenager (16) to this band. She is absolutely in love with with the music and sound.
Good job Mom, start them young
They have made one of the best albums to ever come out of the 90's.
Such an fantaaaastic album. Their best, still. A classic
"Make Yourself" is one of the best records i ever heard & can reach fans of any & every genre .... I just listened to it last week & it still hyits me in the gut in so many ways .... Very inspirational album .
It's on my regular playlist. I love this album thr most, but their older stuff is amazing and definitely fit in at ozzfest!
I remember first hearing the album, I thought it sounded like the most futuristic thing in the world.
sure! It had a very spacey feel!
Still One My Favorites👌🏿👌🏿
First time I heard it on the radio I was blown away.
The Warmth still feels that way.
Same. I didn't like it much.
Saw them play in 1993 and still a fan in 2022!
The Warmth, Miss you, and Pardon Me are songs that I truly keep close to heart.
I saw Incubus and 311 in 1999 on their "Make yourself' tour. I wasn't very familiar with them then, but holy shit man! Most bad ass show I've been to. I love their music still, and definitely made themselves with that tour.
Haha 311 ... seeing them this weekend in darren lake
It's just different when you are there in person and then go buy the album. Fucking awesome!
This album literally saved my life, it's the very first album I ever fell deeply in love with, I was 14
I had my first kiss by my first boyfriend to this band, 20 years later were still best friends and when we play this album all the great memories flood back. Brandon Boyds voice is my inspiration to become a singer myself and now my kid is 14, and she's a fan. I absolutely love this band, always♡
Mike is an amazing guitarist 🎸 👏 ❤
When I think about Incubus I only remember good times. Boyd’s vox and Einzinger’s guitars were so dreamlike.
My middle school years and beyond, INCUBUS is everything to me!!!
"Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear"
Listening to the Make Yourself album was electrifying as well as chill. I went on a huge binge delving through almost the entire discography at one point. Spotify is in the mix, so I'm glad to re-experience it all!!!
I clicked this INSTANTLY. Love Incubus man
I can't believe I was 17 when that album came out and I still remember buying it.
First album I ever bought online ❤
Me too, i go it for Christmas of 99
Me too! Was 17 when I bought it in '99 after I saw the Pardon Me video on 120 minutes.
I have been an incubus fan for about 20 years and I went back the other day and added their music to a playlist for a roadtrip.

Make yourself is a real treasure. Still have the album here in my shelf... great album... one of the best ever written and produced.
So hard to believe it’s been 20 years! Will always love ❤️ you guys!!
Clean is still in my top 10 songs of all time. I’ve been listening to this album a lot the last couple weeks and glad this interview was made. Thanks Loudwire.
Make yourself is one of my favorite albums of all time. Science was also 1 of my faves.
I still remember covering Nowhere Fast in my friend's basement when I was 15 yrs old. The first thing I thought when hearing Brandon's voice for the first time was, "He sounds like Anthony Kiedis." I never thought that ever since tho haha.

Leave:Me:In:A:Little:Log:Cabin ? You’re not alone
Aside from the occasional sore knee, we're getting better.
Don't feel bad. It looks like they're getting old too.
sarco64 lol yes true.
Was 19 when it was released. Best form of therapy out there. Masterpiece.
First concert incubus morning view sessions a great concert and wont be forgotten...thanks
I was there cheers bro
One of my all time favorite bands! Brandon you are still GORGEOUS & a poetic GOD! Been jamming with you guys since 95'! Cannot wait to see you again, Musikfest Aug 7th! I pray you play 11am.

Great interviewer. Really thoughtful questions and you can tell he's a true fan.
Cant believe I’ve been hearing these guys for at least 20 years. They’ve always been my favorite band.
I get to see them on this tour in Akron in a bad ass old theater. Should be one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. I was 16 when this album was out
I have not missed a show in about 10 years. And they are bringing the make yourself tour Tampa / St Pete. And I am so excited!!!!!!!🎸🎹🎧🎤
This album was so great and I became a fan instantly
One of my favorite bands ever ill never forget the first time I listen to pardon me my God that song just blew me away
I still have my original disc I bought back in 2000 and I really need to get it restored since I played it thousands of times. Same with my Morning View disc, damn those were good and bad times.
I've been waiting almost 20 years to hear Crowded Elevator live! Please let this be the one.
Long time Incubus fan. Seen them about 8 times the past 7 years. Nice to see them get some recognition. They dont get much love nowadays.
Hard to get love when you put out no work
You're maybe right. They released 8 a few years ago and an EP. But they're always touring. I always see them in Vegas, crazy how some fans I've met fly from Brazil and Australia to see them.

The whole CD was absolutely SICK!!!!
"WHAT EVER TOMORROW BRINGS ILL BE THERE"
I think I was 11 in the year 2000. People my age or close lived in the greatest time.
Same here!!! All those days of watching Mtv & listening to the radio were AWESOME!!!
I can relate to that and although we lived in different part of the world with different culture, we still experienced life similarly somehow
this album is in my need-to-listen-to-go-by playlist, every day back then. enjoyed it so much until even today.
20 years omg this album was what woke up my love for them i first Listend to them when i was 12. Im now 29 dammm how time flies.. You guys are the best
Brandon is straight up turning into anthony kiedis
I bought this CD when it came out and I still love it and listen to some tracks every day
I'm so stoked this is happening!! Thank you incubus. See you in OKC!
I got the chance to meet these guys last year they are all so nice, absolutely love this band one of my favourites
A true 90's classic.
Love Incubus.
This just gave me a lot of good vibes and nostalgia of 20 years ago
*SCIENCE is my favorite album from them*
DynaMike is such an underrated guitarist!

I can't believe it's already been yhat long. that still is my favorite album.
That acoustic version of pardon me is sooooo good. Still. Damnit im getting old..
I have been listening to incubus since “enjoy incubus, fungus among us, and science” ....yep, I’m that old...
Ditto. That is my favorite era of Incubus by far. S.C.I.E.N.C.E. ftw!
Just jammed to Glass and it’s still awesome
remember hearing them for hte first time on a various artists album including Korn and Limp Bizkit and such. Incubus turned out to be one of the bands w/ the most longevity on that disc
That's awesome. Morning View will always be my favourite album of theirs but Make Yourself had some great tunes on it.
Agree
My first date with my wife was an Incubus show way back in 2000....and we went to the 20 years of Make Yourself show last fall at the Warner in DC. Love this band.
My 3rd fav album of all time!!!!!!!! Beautiful medley of songs, arranged perfectly!! It also helped my vocals, tenfold!!
The bassist is sat there like why did I even come out today.
Coz hes not involved in the making of this particular album..hes not the original bassist..
@@XDayRevival yeah I know.
It should be Dirk Lance who sit there.
Awww but ben cool, he such a sport!

WaterKind LOL ! Incubus babies! Imagine how many people made love to their songs 😂
I have been on an Incubus binge for the last month or so and was wondering if people even knew who they were, then coincidentally this video gets uploaded
Yeah they've got a few fans 😄
If people even know who they were?? WHAT??? Incubus has been one of the best bands out there. You must be very young. But thanks for becoming a fan, never too late. You have good taste.
Make yourself such a good album. Well ahead of its time.
I remember being exactly 20 years old going to an Incubus concert for the first time in SF and how beautiful the experience was. The visuals behind each song was like what I experienced many years later on mushrooms. Ahhhhh....anyway....We were all so young back then :)

My brother and I would play incubus albums in on stereo while we would sleep, still have every baseline in my head..... in a good way of course
Same here, Dirk was the best
Aavila120 🤟🏼
Crazy it's been 20 years, I love Incubus, I actually still have Mike's guitar pick I got from one of the shows.

One of my favourite bands of all time they inspire me so much
Such a fucking great band, cheers from south America!
Saw them two summers ago & they r still Kicking Ass ...
To be honest, I bought the "When Incubus Attacks" CD at Tower Records because of the robot design on the cover, the local radio rock station didn't even play any Incubus songs at that time.
