I've always loved their guitar swell sounds (Pardon Me and Nice to Know You, Are You In? intros). I used to think those sounds were Kilmore when I first started listening to them. I get a warm, fuzzy feeling and a hue of burnt orange/reddish in my mind when I hear their music.
@@amf3118 LOL maybe we have synesthesia. Songs always have me colors in my mind, starting as a kid. For me, the Make Yourself and Morning View album gives me those colors. The other albums have different colors.

Walked past the morning view house last week. Really glad I went. I have a better sense the environment the album was recorded in. I have pics if anyone wants to see. It was a special moment for me.
This guy is the most talented singer I’ve ever heard. On the song, “Drive “ there is no auto-tune b.s.; his ability to control/ manipulate his voice is astonishing. Also, his sense of rhythm expressed vocally is about perfect. Hits all the notes perfectly, too. I’m also blown away by his nuances in the song. I’m working on a cover and I’m more and more impressed with each vocal line. Very difficult to mimic! Oh, and the harmony parts…
Proffessional singer and musician here- did you know there’s technically no autotune on most popular music? It’s actually just light vocal editing. Actual “auto tune” in the sense of the word is a MUCH more obvious difference, which is normally only used for weird crackling effects and things that are meant to enhance the style of the song- not the actual singing. Your thinking of pitch correction. I can tell you from working in studios and from being in a musical family my whole life (my great grandmother was one of the first women to have a radio talk show and married my great grandfather ON that Talkshow who was a musician who just came on to perform. So it runs in my family.) anyway- the majority of music released today DOES have some light pitch tuning and vocal refinement- but it is NOT NEARLYYY as heavily tuned as most people think it is. The majority of singer have to do multiple takes, then they choose the best take, the one with the best vocal agility, vibrato, and whatever else they envision for the song, and then they do as little editing as possible to get the best product while being mostly real. Obviously barely anyone does “no” vocal tuning anymore, but frankly there’s not many more than probably 200-500 singers in this world that can get things almost perfect every single time. We’re all human, knowing myself, the years of vocal training I’ve been through and the amount of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston songs I’ve forced myself to get perfect in my own training, while that may sound impressive, let me tell you, no matter how hard of songs you think you can do or that you genuinely sometimes can do, does NOT mean you will get it every time. Everyone has off days. Just because you book a studio recording day a week in advance does not mean your voice will be as cooperative on the actual recording day. Sometimes there’s just not enough time to get the “perfect” take without some light vocal tuning. Barely anyone can do that. Ever. It’s extremely hard. Not to mention having so many takes really hurts your voice over time- hence why a lot of artists get vocal injuries on your because they overuse their voice- not because it’s wrong technique, but simply because of vocal fatigue. My point is it’s very hard to get anything perfect. And I can also tell you from knowing a shit ton of stuff about this and listening to like over 2000$ worth of records and recordings of singers (including incubus) this guy does use some light vocal tuning. Sorry to burst your bubble, he’s not perfect either, just like Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston aren’t perfect. I wish singers could be perfect. They can be great for sure, but perfect just isn’t possible. Another thing to consider is this is all up to personal judgement- someone who has insanely good operatic technique may seem like a horrible singer to someone who prefers metal and actually has researched what the proper technique for metal singing is, and knows that their favorite metal artists do it really well. Anyway. Enough of me. That’s all I wanted to say.
I listened to this song (Drive) so much in 2005. It inspired me to quit my job of 5 years with a broken heart, moved to another city Knoxville, TN to Chattanooga, TN (back home) and here I am, and I could not be more satisfied with this decision. Without this song I really cannot say I would have done this. Cya in Atlanta, GA 7/28/2022 (1st time)!
The morning view album is like a soundtrack of my life. Walked down the aisle to Echo. Wish you were here helped me cope with the loss of my brother at 14 he was 12 it’s been 22 years and still go back to this song to help me through.
Brandon... I'll NEVER forget you as a person!! You came to Wichita Ks when I was 17 almost 18 . My sister got back stage passes at the Kansas coliseum and y'all played.. she didn't even like rock .. fart noise... She was in to rap... Either way I got to meet Brandon.... Best day of my life!!!! Huge fan have been forever!!! Y'all.... Brandon, made my day.,.. I'll never forget!!! I hope and pray that they come back to Wichita Ks soon!!
I 1st heard Pardon Me when I had moved to Miami, FL in 1999 for Y2K programming work, sitting in traffic on 7 lane freeway and trying to move over all the way to my exit. It was perfect and still is!
Incubus has always been my favorite band since high school. Seen them about a dozen times live. And they still put on a great show. Might check them out in Vegas come March 2022.
Brandon!! He is my hero. All his work to clean our oceans, at home, first, as it should be. Dig is our song, although my man doesn't know it...he has end stage heart failure. He is still able to care for himself, but, the anger behind the depression, is growing. Especially cuz of Covid. Not over for us!! Never will be....so, we live in our bubble, trying not to kill eachother 😂😂 thank you for being you...
I feel like incubus was the light to the shadow of most of the music that was famous at the same time, and that they were important to sort of balance that Era of mainstream rock into what it needed to be. Because you do need to work on your shadow and dark side, but you also need to embrace the light simultaneously, and having too much focus on one or the other is not healthy.
Fungus and science were their best albums. Id buy tickets so fast if i heard they were doing a old-school tour. I hated a crow left of the murder and anything after that. It wasn't the sound i had grown to know them for. Lets get a old-school tour Brandon 😊
Incubus is what you put on in the background when you don't want anyone to notice you're playing music. Glad it all worked out for you Mr. Boyd, ingratiating the public and all...I'm sure your musical heroes and influences would be proud🤣
Incubus is one of my favorite bands of all time, seen them live twice. Once co-headlining with Linkin Park. Idk if it's age or not, but Brandon's voice hasn't been the same in at least 10 years.
The secret to all of these hits is the groovin bass line that Dirk provided. After he left, the band was never the same. I miss the old Incubus, the groovy positive Incubus 😢
Their songs have an almost euphoric sense to them. Idk how to explain it but I always feel clear-minded when listening throughout tbe years.
