Let's start by giving some cred to both of these guys for their outstanding musicianship. The quality of their playing and musical insight is awe inspiring. Second, their technical knowledge is beyond impressive. It's so useful to see what different combinations of instruments, pedals and amps can achieve - such a great way to sell gear by showing what it actually does!
For a quick video "without breaking the bank" it was petty good but in no way spot on. Also, to get that it required experience and knowledge. You can't just go buy that shit and also get somewhere near. So good job from them but it just wasnt it. Hence them being Radiohead :D
Knowing Jonny's rig quite well, I'm so impressed how you got the tones bang-on from the gear you used. Probably your most accurate Sounds Like yet! Awesome playing too
i know Ed has a signature strat, i think he uses a Rickenbacker on occasion and i have seen him use the Johnny Marr signature Fender Jaguar, a Mesa Boogie combo with a vox AC30 and i saw a video on his pedals but i haven't looked at it again so you'll have to see for yourself and choose what they do have on the board which is in the andertons website
That wasn't a telecaster plus, it was the modern player version. The main difference between Jonny's Tele and any other one is the lace sensor pickups, which has been discontinued since 1995.
@@izakhughes but different in many ways, so its not technically the perfect guitar to get jonny tone unless your gonna rig it up with lace sensor pickups
The problem is that they don’t promote gear that way. They are a music-store, after all! Also, Tyler Larsson at Music is win have already done that concept with his “Habits of... series”!
As somebody that once requested this a long time ago while knowing it'd be a rough one, I think you guys did a completely excellent job, for what it's worth.
Loving all the videos, especially the back to back pumpkins and Radiohead. Sounds like Modest Mouse maybe? Isaac has a very specific guitar, so I think it would be interesting to see what you guys come up with
** I would love to see a 'Sounds like X by using a computer' episode / series ** Most of us aren't going to buy a particular pedal for one part of a song, even if it is cheap so having a computer and exploring affordable guitar amp effect software installed would be great for us beginners who just play at home and want to strum along to a wide variety of songs to keep things interesting. I know this series is ultimately designed to promote the shop but you guys sell software too as well as computers and peripherals. Anyway, as always - great episode. I love watching these shows. As for a band suggestion: Despite being tech savvy I like old school so ... Sounds Like The Cars? Keep up the great work Peace. Out.
I guess in most cases combining pedals with a multi effects pedal will do the job. You could of course try to find some free plug ins that do the job as well, but I guess Andertons want to sell some gear 😉
would be really hard for king gizz, they use vintage yamaha's and the likes. They're switching to more sg's/explorers tho so maybe possible if you're only covering recent stuff?
Gijs gizz actually have pretty simple rigs in terms of amp and pedals. fender hot rod deluxe, crybaby wah, dd-7, devi ever torns peaker. as for guitars any electric 12 string for stu would be good
I really like these videos and appreciate the creativity Matt & Rabea bring to their rigs. That said, the Boss GT-1 seen here could almost certainly do any and all sounds that you could want... modulations, delays, reverbs, dirt, amp models and so on. It's the latest toy in my collection - I got it essentially on the first day it was available in Canada - and I really like it.
It sounds amazing. Perhaps, you can revisit this sounds like by busting the bank since Fender will be launching Ed O'Brien's signature Stratocaster later this year
Eyyy they finally did it! You guys actually did great with this, pretty damn close for the amount of money you had. Also that iron lung was just amazing
Nicely done fellas, You even tackled an early song (You) not even the real Radiohead play that anymore. I'd like to see sounds like the Manic Street Preachers next.
Sounds probable, though I hope they would go with Humbuckers if they do Mick Jones, as he was mostly using humbuckers from Gimme 'Em Enough Rope onwards in his Les Paul Custom.
Absolute virtuoso performance on this one, guys! The head of the radio is a really tough one. It paid off for you to wait on this one until you built up your scholarship and quiver. You were then able to deliver masterfully. Brah. Vo. Brah.
Will York Music I think the guitar will be more of a problem because I think they will use the Mesa Flux drive for the Mesa sound . Sterling does a musicman jp but they're not that close to the origin imo
Not disappointed at all! Congrats guys Just wanna add two things: - No surprises' melody is played by Ed (Jonny plays the Glockenspiel on this one) - Subterranean Homesick Alien's weird high melody would have (maybe) sounded better with an octave up, heavy reverb and delay with a phaser/flanger (although I really like the sound you've found with the mobius) Hope this helps anyone (or even Rabea and Matt for their BY busting the bank) It would be great if you could integrate Thom Yorke's rig next time
Cover-band challenge: sound like 10 completely different bands without busting the bank. One guitar, one amp, and, say, no more than three pedals. Possible starting point: Squier HSS Strat, Boss Katana 100. Plenty of cash left over for one or two multi-effects pedals, plus something a little more specialised.
I don't understand how the Boss Katana isn't picked every single time for these without busting series. I get those guys don't play Katanas, but they also don't play those budget guitars either.

this is impossible to achieve without having 2 professional set ups with about 15 pedals each, Radiohead use AC30's - Jonny's screaming distortion, envelope effects, modulation effects, (think Paranoid Android, Go to Sleep, Airbag, Subterranean Homesick Alien, My Iron Lung, Palo Alto; Radiohead have never played that live its so heavily effect intense) - all these tracks imo are impossible to replicate, numerous guitars are used also from Ed and Thom mainly, the intro to You here is in fact the other way round, Ed plays intro, Jonny and Thom play the distorted rhythms

iglu Way off on S.H.Alien!!
They got a whammy pedal and didn't use it on Subterranean Homesick Alien....
@@TheEmpyrean15 exactly lmao
Well, this petition is mandatory...Sound like Radiohead BY busting the bank
They already have a ton of pedals here, don't think there's much to add
you can literally buy harley benton tele or jay turser telecaster and buy better amp and you will spend less money and sound esxactly the same
Now BUST the bank with this band.
Talk Show Host yes please
Talk Show Host Hell yeah!
Only if they decide to modify the telecaster and load it with lace sensors, and also to get a Fender Strat EOB.
Have the captain as a guest to play Thom Yorke's part

The problem is that they don’t promote gear that way. They are a music-store, after all!
Also, Tyler Larsson at Music is win have already done that concept with his “Habits of... series”!
Great vid! One of the best "Sounds Like" videos by far, you guys nailed it.
You guys should try a Sounds Like Cage the Elephant!
Sound like Placebo, Pixies and Jack White's tone on his solo albums.
kasper adam Lisowski agreed to every suggestion
kasper adam Lisowski Placebo would be great
Sounds like Pixies?!
Yea they definitely need to do that
What? Massively over rated? Takes a lot of publicity....
first pumpkins then radiohead
i love you guys
Bloodborne Survivor right? They got my two favorite bands one after the other. Also I love bloodborne so nice name
bring on the 90's!!
