Seriously impressed with the detail of explanation you go into your videos Greg. Your channel has the most concise van build videos I have seen online. Thank you!
I'm stunned by the professional standard of this conversion - and inspired by the thought that it might not be impossible to get a similar result by using the vast number of techniques and tips you've shared so freely. A huge thanks to you, Greg. 👍
"I always like to leave all my screws with the slot in the vertical position and they all look nice and neat." That statement defines your attention to detail which is nothing less than amazing. This is bitter sweet for me realizing that we're very near the end of this wonderful construction project. Thank you so much for this brilliant series Mr Virgoe.
There will be lots more technical videos to come on every aspect of the van. There are lots of parts of the electrics, solar and battery setup that have not been discussed yet 😀
I have watched the series from start to finish and I have always been impressed by the attention to detail, not just the 'hands on', but the explanation behind the decision making process. A thoroughly professional approach that puts all other van conversion videos to shame. Unfortunately, the vertical screw slots have destroyed my faith in Greg's project. Any fool knows that slots should always be horizontal, just like every switch, socket and door handle screw in my home.
I'm sure people are still watching this series as it's a great resource. Couple of points on cutting worktops. Firstly be aware that downcut blades will produce a bit of chatter so make sure you apply a bit more pressure than with a standard upcut blade. The blade is trying to lift the tool, rather the norm of pulling the saw to the work piece with an upcut blade. If you are looking to finesse a scribe even more, angle your saw and undercut by 5-10 degrees, this will leave less material to sand or plane if a perfect fit is your aim. It will also avoid the blade bending and not producing a flush cut which is common in thicker materials.
I hear a touch of emotion in your voice this being the last of your van build. I feel the same, it's been great fun watching/learning from your van build. I'll continue to recommend your tutorials and I look forward to seeing your new adventures.
I don't even know why I've been watching this series, I've got a caravan and have no intention of building a campervan and no interest in DIY but it's been bloody brilliant

Congratulations Greg, brilliant job! Has been such a pleasure watching your craftsmanship over these past months. Looking forward to a final reveal video. Hope you have great times in Europe, you deserve it!!!
I think it goes without saying, but this is the best van build series on YT. Well done Greg for the quality of video and explanations. I laughed at the old school comment regarding the kitchen top. “I cut 2 or 3 foot of the end leaving 1400mm”. Totally understand the dimensions without a second thought. Well done mate. Cheers Dave

Greg - I’ve now watched your complete build and now viewing your travels. It’s inspired me to do my own van. I’m am at the very early planning stage, learning about sketch up. I’ve been looking at the builds from other van life people, and keep coming back to the practicality of your layout. I am researching how I can use 12v water, van heating & A/C. Your videos have give lots of tips for me and some great ideas. Im excited to work on my conversion all the time and learning lots. So thank you so much. Cant wait for more videos from you.
Hi Michael, great to hear that you are also doing a van build, working through the winter was a challenge when your tools are cold to touch. Make the most of the dry sunny days and best wishes with your own van
Hello Greg, just recently came upon your channel as I started watching the Gadgets.. just wanted to say that you Sir, are a fantastic craftsman.. your attention to the smallest detail is great, your van conversion is superb.. and I like your traveling videos as well.. also it’s great to see your lady giving you a hand throughout the process.. job fantastically done.. 👍
I thought it would be nice to show a couple of the shots I had taken for the DVLA video. I get asked quite often to show some shots from further back so you can see more of the van. Thanks for sticking it out to the end :D
I’ve watched all of your videos and I’ve been impressed by them all. Your workmanship and level of detail is amazing and when I finally get round to converting my own van your content will be my first go to. Again, amazing work and thank you for making these videos! 🙏🏻
The kitchens is wonderful you are a real perfectionist and I love that. I am sorry the build is mainly over but cant wait to be with you on your travelling
Hi Linda, I'm pleased that comes across, I do try to do everything to the best of my ability. I have lots of plans and ideas for future videos so I hope you continue to enjoy what I do.
Well Done Greg I have watched all your build vids and have enjoyed all of them and will be using some of your great tips and knowledge on my van when i get it..looking forward to your final tour of the finished van , hope you have a great time around Europe.
Well done Greg and thanks so much for sharing in such detail your build, i can't wait to follow your European adventure where i'm sure you will find out just how good all your systems and equipment are.
Looks fantastic and such a quality job, I’m surprised you have only a limited DIY experience as everything you have done has looked so professional, I’ve recently shared a link to another van builder regarding insulation so hopefully he can benefit as well. Thank you for sharing your build and making the time for such quality videos. Look forward to seeing the van complete and following your adventures, good luck and thank you once again.
Great video as always!! That osmo finish that you used on the worktop is actually made here in Germany just down the road from me. Small world! Can't wait to see it finished!
I did guess the worktop was bamboo, only because I have a chopping board made of it I got from Argos ages ago. Its a wonder it hasn't been used more, it is starting to get used more now though. Its good because its quite strong, looks good and bamboo grows quick so good for the enviroment too. Great videos Greg.
Great work as always Greg, that bamboo really does look well. It's almost a shame that you're coming to the end of the build, I'll miss watching the videos which always seemed to have just the right balance of detail without going overboard. I have to admit that I skipped a couple of the more technical "wordy" ones, like the gas regulations, but will go back and watch them in full when I finally get around to starting my own build. Now get out there and enjoy the fruits of your labour, you deserve it 👍
Thank you Andy, there still loads of content to come. I see areas where I think I can add value to others. There's a lot of very useful info in the gas video :D
Yes Croft, we had some in our garden and it's grows really fast and spreads like a weed almost. Very strong too, lots of far east countries still use it for scaffolding etc
Good to hear there's more to come Greg, and I wasn't trying to suggest otherwise about the gas video. From a quick flick through I can see it's packed with useful information, it's probably just a bit too in depth for me at this stage of the process. It will no doubt be a great reference when I get down to some serious planning. 😊
fantastic work as always Greg, keep the video's coming mate. Been a massive help to my sprinter build. loving the Bamboo worktop. really finishes off nicely.
@@GregVirgoe Your videos are really detailed and interesting. They have given me many great ideas for my build which is coming slowly. I have a design dilemma because I want to sleep 4. Ive seen various sleeping layouts and would love to construct a pull down rear bed with a dinette under that converts to bed. But first things first. Finish insulating, roof vents and then insulate the ceiling.
Fantastic detail as always, picked up heaps of tips for when I do my benchtop in a few weeks time. I'll be using a (native) pine laminate as its lighter and available in heaps of sizes here in NZ, I initially looked at Bamboo, but it tends to be very thick and only comes in one width and is mainly 3m lengths, so quite expensive and lots of wastage, as its too thick to use the offcuts for tables etc. Looking forward to the full tour.......
I was surprised to see that Kaboodle Kitchens is an Aus company. The board here was 28mm thick so less than the normal 40mm for kitchens and was only 2.2m long I have managed to use 1.85m in the van including the flip up section at the end. But when you cut out the oven and sink there does seem to be more on the waste pile than in the van :O
Kaboodle flat packs are available at Bunnings in Aus & NZ, its the Aussie B&Q :-) The cheapest bamboo benchtop they have here is a bit longer and thicker and costs $549, which is about GBP250, so a tad expensive as I'd use less than half of it. They have a v nice looking Acacia oiled hardwood one for $98 though, so about GBP50 which I'll look at and see if I prefer it to the native Pine one. Just the one hole for the sink for me, as mine is a weekend and holiday campervan I'm going to use my portable butane stove top when out and about as I can use it outside too, and a small portable single Induction hob when I'm at campsites with power. I'll try and use the sink cut out as a chopping board/sink infill, and the rest will be used as table top for the dinette and a flip up at the end of the kitchen bench , and some storage lids too.
I bought my 1st van to convert I have wanted to do it for some time and after watching everyone of your videos I bought the van you have really inspired me! But now I have it I'm very scared!
Hi James, I do know exactly how you feel, there were many jobs on the van that gave me a few sleepless nights I can be honest with you. The biggest of those was when it came to cutting holes in the van because there is so much at stake if it goes wrong. But with careful planning, measure, measure and measure again with a nice fresh blade or saw it will go well and the huge sense of satisfaction when the job goes well. It is ok to worry just take your time and break each job down into small chunks with mini goals. I set myself daily goals of what I want to get done, then at the end of the jab say to yourself, that's a good days work! My very best wishes with your own build and please do come back and keep me updated with your progress. Thank you
Hi James, for the plywood lining of the van I used 9mm marine ply, this has very good glue and will resist moisture much better. The kitchen carcasses are made from 12mm hardwood plywood. The lightweight furniture plywood is made by Morland UK and is made from Poplar, laminated both sides.
You could consider looking up videos of people building out of t-slot aluminium, as well. It's probably as easy as wood or easier, depending on skillset. Just cut the aluminium to the proper lengths and bolt it together with angle brackets and such. "Ourkaravan" here on RUclips, or "Humble Road" who also uses it. Basically construct the framework out of aluminium, and cover it with wood, plywood, whatever.
An other good vid Greg glad your doing 1 about the change over from Pannel van to motor caravan I,v just took pic,s of every thing I,v dun haha looking forward to the next 1 cheers Danny
Well done Greg, I've seen almost every video and been keeping along with your build. Just want to say congratulations on completion and your work. I hope someday I can save enough money to build one just like this. Your videos have given me enough confidence that I can use as a guide when that time comes.
Another great video, been watching since the start and given me lots of ideas for my dream build. One mistake, Bamboo is not wood it is grass but I will 100% forgive you and you probably already knew.
Thanks Greg, I didn’t but that doesn’t surprise me. I’ve worked a lot in SE Asia and what they do with it is impressive. Looking forward to the final reveal and the cost breakdown, I’m trying to get a better idea of the costs before I bite the bullet and buy a van, if it comes out anywhere as good as yours I’ll be very happy.
Awesome video love watching your craftsmanship lot of good pointers and ideas. We're trying to figure out what to use for a countertop in mine and I like the idea of the bamboo and definitely the look. So hopefully I can find it here in the states
Wow looks great I have missed a few episodes but all caught up now 👍🏽 screw heads all in a vertical position wow and I thought I was a perfectionist 😂😂
Great work Greg, the bamboo really pops with the finish and that is a nice looking kitchen I personaly like the faucet! Best of luck! Cheers from Portugal ;)
*Right through the series I've wondered if you lined all the screw tops up the same. But every time I thought about asking I stopped myself and thought there's only me would be as fussy as to do that. Good to know I'm not the only one.* *Now I just have to up the other 99.9% of my game to get near your level.*
When screws are on show like on a switch plate I have to have them in a line, nobody will notice but for a second of time, it does make me happy :D Attention to details results in a quality job I think.
I too am a member of the vertical screw line club. Nobody gets it! But the satisfaction of seeing them perfectly straight. A funny story...I vetoed an electrician rewiring our house because his helper didn't get the switch plate flush with the wall after needing to look inside ( what type of work would he do with the be wires). And his screw was horizontal.... hubs still doesn't get it. I tell him it's a Virgo thing😉
Wouldn't you want to turn the screws to achieve a consistent and appropriate torque for the material you are screwing into? That will result in screws in all orientations. Sure, the aesthetic beauty is lost, but the sense of function of the screw is maintained.
It does depend on application and all hidden fixings are done up tight. I’m just talking about visible cosmetic screws like switch plates etc where 1/4 of a turn makes no difference to its security 😊
@@GregVirgoe With Phillips head it doesn't matter if it is a *+* or a *x* so long as they are all the same, but there again I do have too much time on my hands.
Absolutely, Greg ... your videos are indispensable. And think the bamboo top looks great! (Bamboo-themed interior on my own build? ... hmm ... if Lord Jesus wills!) And looking forward to your travel v-logs as well. We'll be praying your adventures are safe, fun and everything you and yours hoped for. Just an observation: if anyone has a similar cutout for a slide-in oven with cooktop like Greg here ... and if you want more support when moving that top after its been cut inside the workshop. Or if the top needs to travel in an truck for a while; one can attach a piece of 1"x4" wood stock to the underside and pre-drill and use screws to hold it. I've seen a few expensive countertops break at that back edge when they weren't supported before getting to their place of install. Lord Jesus bless and thanks again to Greg for this great info and instruction ... Brilliant !
Hey that can't be it, please make a full walkaround and beauty shots of the finished van! Just a few photos made for the registration office aren't enough. Anyways, fantastic job as always!

Your most welcome and best wishes with your own build 👍🏼
Have really enjoyed your series of videos. You have certainly inspired and helped me during my vivaro van conversion. Thank you.
That’s really great to hear Chris and I’m pleased they have been useful to you.
That bamboo is really nice...... Nice work! Cheers, Scott
I actually stumbled across it by accident while shopping for something else.
The bonus was it was only £50 which was such good value too.
That’s a really nice job, lovely finish on that wood 👍🏼
Again top notch, this is better than watching tv
I stopped watching most mainstream TV a long time ago and much prefer to watch other RUclipsrs, there are so many interesting channels out here now.
Fabulous, details, instructions that I feel I could do given the proper tools. Amazing as always!!!
It does help to get the precision with the right equipment
Finally!!!! Great video!! By watching your video feels like I am building a van too!!
Thank you very much Alex
Excellent video and the worktop looks lovely Greg.
Thank you very much Steve
By far the best van build videos on you tube as always 👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much for all your work Greg. I hope you guys make good use of your outstanding build.
Great video as always!! That osmo finish that you used on the worktop is actually made here in Germany just down the road from me. Small world! Can't wait to see it finished!
Hi Luke, I didn’t know that, yes a small world indeed 😊
Now get out there and enjoy the fruits of your labour, you deserve it 👍
Bamboo is a great choice. It's a renewable material (grows much faster than trees) and very durable.
Great detailed video as normal, can’t wait for a full grand tour from van to luxury one of motorhome
Thank you Ian, It’s been a while coming hope it lives up to expectations 😊
Another superbly detailed video, Greg, well done, that bamboo looks amazing.
Hi Michael, it’s nice to have a bit of real wood in the van. 😊
Wonderful job Greg, congratulations. You are an inspiration.
Sir just bloody outstanding you are one hell of a craftsman
Once again Greg, another great detailed video 👌
Really appreciate your support Johnny
fantastic work as always Greg, keep the video's coming mate. Been a massive help to my sprinter build. loving the Bamboo worktop. really finishes off nicely.
Greg... you are the best. Love your videos
Really appreciated Karen, thank you
@@GregVirgoe Your videos are really detailed and interesting.
Beautiful work. You did a great job. Proper workmanship. :)
Thank you very much Mike 😊
Fantastic detail as always, picked up heaps of tips for when I do my benchtop in a few weeks time. I'll be using a (native) pine laminate as its lighter and available in heaps of sizes here in NZ, I initially looked at Bamboo, but it tends to be very thick and only comes in one width and is mainly 3m lengths, so quite expensive and lots of wastage, as its too thick to use the offcuts for tables etc. Looking forward to the full tour.......
I was surprised to see that Kaboodle Kitchens is an Aus company.
The board here was 28mm thick so less than the normal 40mm for kitchens and was only 2.2m long
I have managed to use 1.85m in the van including the flip up section at the end.
Simply brilliant Greg
Many thanks Steve
Thank you
@@GregVirgoe did you use structural ply wood soft or hardwood?
Hi James, for the plywood lining of the van I used 9mm marine ply, this has very good glue and will resist moisture much better.
The kitchen carcasses are made from 12mm hardwood plywood.
The lightweight furniture plywood is made by Morland UK and is made from Poplar, laminated both sides.
@@GregVirgoe great thank you
You could consider looking up videos of people building out of t-slot aluminium, as well.
Great work! Amazing workmanship!
An other good vid Greg glad your doing 1 about the change over from Pannel van to motor caravan I,v just took pic,s of every thing I,v dun haha looking forward to the next 1 cheers Danny
danny scrimshaw yes, video is out at 3pm tomorrow afternoon.
Well done Greg, I've seen almost every video and been keeping along with your build. Just want to say congratulations on completion and your work. I hope someday I can save enough money to build one just like this. Your videos have given me enough confidence that I can use as a guide when that time comes.
Awesome Van build Greg, ive enjoyed every episode.
God help me....my van will be in absolute tatters compared to this! Absolutely beautiful work, form and function Greg.
I'm sure it won't, some careful planning, careful measuring and a bit of time you will be golden.👍🏼
Great video as ever. A true craftsman at work. 👍🏾
That van is looking pukka! looks really well and for a 1st timer wow, you should build these for a living, I bet you’d enjoy 😉 that!
Another fantastic video and the van looks brilliant.
Thanks Stephen, much appreciated
It’s looking great Greg and only half an hour wow.
Another great video, been watching since the start and given me lots of ideas for my dream build. One mistake, Bamboo is not wood it is grass but I will 100% forgive you and you probably already knew.
Well done jonathan, technically I'll give you that one, did you know some species are stronger than Oak?
Thanks Greg, I didn’t but that doesn’t surprise me. I’ve worked a lot in SE Asia and what they do with it is impressive. Looking forward to the final reveal and the cost breakdown, I’m trying to get a better idea of the costs before I bite the bullet and buy a van, if it comes out anywhere as good as yours I’ll be very happy.
just about there now Greg ,looking great too. well done
Thank you Nell for your continued support of the channel, great to see your comments each time.
So much awesome. I had to laugh about the slotted screws. My brand of OCD like to leave them horizontal. 😉
Equally another fantastic choice of finishing position 😂👍🏼
Looking fantastic Gregory 💪💪💪💪
Awesome video love watching your craftsmanship lot of good pointers and ideas. We're trying to figure out what to use for a countertop in mine and I like the idea of the bamboo and definitely the look. So hopefully I can find it here in the states
As ever, an excellent, instructive video. Thanks much!
Thank you very much 😃
Wow looks great I have missed a few episodes but all caught up now 👍🏽 screw heads all in a vertical position wow and I thought I was a perfectionist 😂😂
Great work Greg, the bamboo really pops with the finish and that is a nice looking kitchen I personaly like the faucet! Best of luck! Cheers from Portugal ;)
Thank you very much Daniel
@@GregVirgoe You are more than welcome!
Nice work Greg. Looks great.
*Right through the series I've wondered if you lined all the screw tops up the same. But every time I thought about asking I stopped myself and thought there's only me would be as fussy as to do that. Good to know I'm not the only one.*
*Now I just have to up the other 99.9% of my game to get near your level.*
When screws are on show like on a switch plate I have to have them in a line,
nobody will notice but for a second of time, it does make me happy :D
Attention to details results in a quality job I think.
(Bamboo-themed interior on my own build? ... hmm ... if Lord Jesus wills!)
And looking forward to your travel v-logs as well.
Brilliant !
Amazing. I have been watching your videos, all day until my tablet run out of battery. Now where can I find you to help me build my van
Hi Cora, just leave me a message and I’ll comeback to you with an answer. 😀
Hey that can't be it, please make a full walkaround and beauty shots of the finished van! Just a few photos made for the registration office aren't enough. Anyways, fantastic job as always!
Another great video, cheers ( I have already mentioned your videos to a few friends too )
That’s excellent Paul, thank you very much!
I couldnt have timed that any better to log in to RUclips :)
I try and get them out at 3 on a Friday if I can 😊
Finally a new episode! :)
There is one a week Alex 😀
Wow Greg, great Job!
Good jog Greg!
Fantastic!
"I always like to leave all my screws with the slot in the vertical position."
