- We now know that the temple was modeled to look like Obsidian, a fusion of Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, and Pink Diamond in the form of Rose Quartz. But how exactly was the temple built? The simple answer is that they fused and carved it, however, some interesting facts about Obsidian's power leads me to believe that she may have taken a more creative approach to its construction.

The Arms on the temple are not hollow. The only hallow part is where the door is. Everything would have been hollow if it was a casting of Obsidian
I think white diamond created our pearl- shes the only gem exept for pink d so far that we saw can change color. White saied she is every color of the rainbow, so it makes scens gems sho were created by here could color shift. of course, i could be wrong and there is another reason.

I like this theory but there’s one key flaw with it. The temple’s arms aren’t hallow. We have already seen a part of one of the temple’s arms break off and what was inside is just rock.

i dont think the arms need to shown much detail as being hallowed out even though they could be just another type of entrance into the temple. they are thin an narrow and with the constant angle of when we see the broken arms how could we tell without some kinda of shading to show they are hallowed out.

I’m just imagining pearl in full perfection mode trying to get every detail absolutely perfect and using garnet to predict every little thing that could possibly happen from huge problems to “a small pebble will be on the warp at this time and will do absolutely nothing, but you won’t like it being there”
But wouldn't it have been more sensible if garnet and pearl just fused in the first place?

Imagine, obsidian building herself, but its pearl, so you just see obsidian being perfect about the statue XD
It would make sense that obsidian herself made the rooms of the temple as well. Certain rooms can only be created when fusions themselves exist. You could say that, within obsidian, all other possible fusions exist as well, so each gem and fusion made each room and the technology behind it all in one fell swoop. Maybe through use of her lava, past obsidian created the crystal heart to begin with. Could be why they were so afraid of steven being near it in the past series, cause they didnt know if they could ever recreate it

I think the temple was made after the storm in buddy's book.
Obsidian did show up there and fight a sea monster, then went back to beach city. So i assume that obsidian was exhausted and it was raining, so the lava in her cooled, turning into rock.
The way they came out of it is through the temple door. Because when obsidian turned to stone, the gem's mentalities were made into physical things, their rooms, and the door being their exit.
Makes sense why theres a heart in it.

One more thing: the Obsidian statue at the temple has curly hair, just like Rose did, which probably signified that Rose herself fused with Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl. But when Steven fuses with them, Obsidian has puffy hair just like Steven does!

I feel like William Dewey and his crewmen after they settled in Beach City built the Temple Statue in Obsidian’s honor after she saved them from the Corrupted Gem.
King Millo amethyst wasn’t around yet, the gem that saved William Dewey and his crew was most likely Rose, Pearl and Garnet
+memes ._. First of all, Amethyst was already with the Crystal Gems at this time. She was literally in the flashback episode “Buddy’s Book” when William Dewey was in the process of establishing Beach City and Buddy left to start his adventures. Also, in the episode “Historical Friction” she was mentioned during Jamie’s play right before the Fusion appeared to save the ship.
Second of all, Rose Quartz found Amethyst directly after the war had ended. For Amethyst not have been with them at this time would mean William Dewey established Beach City over 1000 years ago, which simply makes no sense. Check your facts before commenting, buddy.

If we know that those Quartzes emerged the same day that Pink Diamond took on the Rose Quartz persona and ultimately began the events of the war, that would simply make no sense because it would mean Amethyst emerged halfway through the war around the time the Beta Kindergarten was established (since the war lasted about a 1000 years) and would have eventually been corrupted from exposure to the Diamond attack. The most logical way to work around this is if we assume she emerged immediately - instead of a whopping 500 years - after the war came to an end and just spent a long time alone in the Kindergarten before the Crystal Gems found her. See, it’s easier to simply add a few more hundred years to Peridot’s statement instead of 1000+ years like you seem to be doing…OR better yet…maybe the writers just didn’t clarify this fact and there’s currently no right answer. Happy now? 😆
I want to know two things. One how can pocket dimensions like the one in the temple are created?
And two, how do gems make their technology?
1. maybe it has to do with tech. When their gems glow it could generate a world built off of their personalities. Or generate an old World. Though we never see their rooms change. Their magical gem tech could be like a phone using touch to be opened. It has to scan their DNA. But anyways honestly i don't have an answer.

I think that Steven universe future will end with garnet saying "and that's all I forsee" to either Steven or rose. Or sapphire telling it to blue diamond

Yeah! Like steven universe future was just a vision from sapphire's future power. Blue diamond could be so concerned for steven she will be always their with him and he will have no idea! Or, rose with be changing her mind about giving birth to steven after hearing what was going to happen when she would give birth to him!
I always thought humans carved obsidian into the cliif while the temple(aka crystal gems secret base) was always inside the cliff.
From mayor dewey's play (i dont remember which episode it's from) we learned that settlers of beachtown were saved from something big(a storm or monster i dont remember) by a giant woman. the woman being a fusion of crystal gems.
We also know that the alpha kindergarden is somewhere close to the temple(from runaway boys episode it took what an hour in-show time for steven to get there).
Also also there was a tribe of people nearby(from pearls explaination to sapphire...when rose beamed down on earth to hang out with other gems and generally check out the planet, they encountered a few humans collecting water.....which was also like an hour in-show time away from the kindergarden)
Soooo.......basically when the whole rebellion was happening, rose and others built a small secret base(maybe to reqruit gems, maybe to spy on) near the alpha kindergarden. Meanwhile, the tribe of humans lived their lives somewhere close by, probablly witnessing the godlike weird ladies doing godlike weird things(like shapeshifting, fusing, making things cold, making things hot, making things appear/disappear, poof into thin air, and other weird stuff gems did do). Perhaps the humans also found the temple where gems would disappear(teleport or the door) and deamed the cliff a sacred place. After the war was over(and amethyst joined the picture), the crystal gems went off hunting down corrupted gems. Since the gems never fought a corrupted gem, it's safe to say that they would go all out(aka fuse into the biggest and meanest fusion they can). So.....the nearby humans(who learned how to carve stone by that point), terrified and mesmerized by the giant woman, just went for it and carved the image into the cliff.

I believe it was made kinda like Eren’s Titan Crystal. Obsidian can harden her body into stone, perhaps a long time ago beach city was a part of the ocean til obsidian used all of the water to cool herself down and turn herself into the stone

I like how regular obsidian looks at temple obsidian and is angry.
I kind of thought that when the humans settled into what would become beach city, (the story from Steven and Jamie’s play) some humans built an entire shrine dedicated to the goddess like being that saved their lives. Then the gems sort of just started to live in there and make it more advanced as time went on.

I thought ancient people built it for/ in honour of the gems.
I personally think that temple creation must be more involved than that. As well, an interesting aspect of the Crystal Temple is that in the beach next to the city, you can see Obsidian's sword in the water. My theory is that creating the Crystal Temple was a magical ritual of sorts in its own right, which solidified their body into magical stone containing the interior, thus why their weapon didn't disappear when they left the form. The Crystal Temple acts as a body, even going so far as to possess a heart with an artery network connecting it to the rest of the rooms - I take this to mean that the Temple is the byproduct of/used to be a living being. I also see that being why the Temple has the gem-accessible rooms it has, even going so far as to have rooms that only exist while certain Fusions do - because Obsidian contains the theoretical essence of all its components and the Fusions between them, but that has to be awakened from the outside. In my interpretation of things, the gems couldn't edit the Temple in post to make rooms for new Crystal Gems, because the Temple is a direct manifestation of their prior fusion.
I dunno about the pocket dimension, but if pearl can manipulate clouds, sand etc. than maybe obsidian could manipulate lava into the shape of herself.

I feel like they just carved obsidian into the side of the mountain, & hollowed out the middle by digging it out. It’s simple, but it’s what makes sense to me. Also, as someone else said, the arms of the statue aren’t hollow, so that kinda rules out this theory.
I got the impression there were plenty of amethysts in the rebellion, and while it's possible there were also other pearls, rubies and sapphires, the only ingredient for Obsidian that the definitely only had one of was a diamond. So I don't rule out that the fusion could have existed during the war.
I just don't think ok k diamond was fusing with that mant people, sged have to be emotionally close to them and just happening to be close to another amethyst doesn't sound right. If anything they did pink, pearl, garner and bismuth as a fusion

With the episode where Jamie and Mayor Dewey put on a play about how Beach City was created, I always felt like the statue was made in their honor by the founders of Beach City.
It is implied that Obsidian was formed to save them and lead them to shore.

I thought the same thing. And I think maybe it’s possible obsidian can leak out lava through the lava looking swirls all over her body giving her more precise coverage on the outside of the body rather than just spitting it out her mouth. Or perhaps her whole body can become lava as a power we never seen before. And when she cools it makes the rock obviously and like you side when they unfuse it would be hollow.

in one of the eoisodes when greg was talking about rose/ pink diamond it showed amethyst as a younger version. but in the video where steven sings the song we are the crystal gems it showed them building more onto it. i remember them saying in one of the episodes that they had a whole gem war so that means more gems could have helped build that while they were fused together posing for the cave to get done. the cafe could have just been a mountain before and made it into this

I think it could have been the townies. Rember the episode where they showed the saving of the captain from the huge monster from the ocean by a giant woman. I think it must have been obsidian or alexandrite. If obsidian, it could been done by the townies to make a temple in their image.

I am at 2:33 my guess is that the people who were saved by her carved this into the mountain when they got to were beach city would be as a thanks to onsidan(edit) I was wrong but there’s a theory
I think it was mainly because at the time when rose quartz was still here along with amethyst they got obsidian and maybe since rose quartz knew she was giving birth to a mini gem (Steven) she built it as a home for them to live in since they would have to live in her house and needed a very hallow space,rose built the temple as obsidian and let the gems live their but then it started to break down and grow nature on it leaving it how it is today.I also think rose did built the temple as obsidian to represent how all Garnet,Pearl,And Amethyst worked together for the first time in the years she was still here.

I have one thing to say about this, in season one episode twelve garnet says that she’s the only crystal gem who could swim in lava. Which held up at the time, because rubies and sapphires have a higher melting point than amethysts, and a much higher melting point than pearls. Steven is organic so it’s understandable that he couldn’t either. When the temple was made, obviously pink was lava proof, but how would pearl and amethyst hold up to being coated in lava?

I think Obsidian needs a redesign.
First she needs proper clothes, I would Imagine her clothes are a mix of all the non hybrid gem’s cloths.
Second she needs more eyes, with Sugilite having five eyes, and Rainbow Quartz having four, I think she needs nine eyes, four on her lower face and five on her upper face.
She also needs two pairs of sunglasses. A pair of sunglasses on her lower face that resembles Sunstone’s and a pair on her upper face that resembles Alexandrite’s.
Finally she needs to be more colorful as all her components come in such diversity in colors, particularly a rainbow. I think she needs to have skin that is a fix of all her components skin color’s hair that’s a mix of them, and her eyes and veins should be rainbow colored.
Oh that sounds neat, only big problem would be that obsidian wouldn’t be what the lava would cool as, rather a lava sludge that would be Far too hot for them to live in unless they actually sat there for years as obsidian, disregarding that though would be believable in context and it’s a head cannon I shall accept
Hey.. I commented on an Instagram post way before this video and I talked about everything you just talked about . Even the Amethyst part.
If obsidian built the temple, then it has rose in it, which meant obsidian looked different back then.
I think they may have just carved it out because there was an episode where the legs were leaned against the temple and it looked like they r the same size unless without rose, obsidian is smaller

The temple was s just carved into the cliff side, with The fusion of all the remaining crystal gems as a representation of the crystal gems.
And it doesn’t use pocket dimensions, it takes up a specific space and then uses gem tech to allow multiple areas attuned for and connected to certain gems, and from the invisible connection to the gems when they open the main door, this allows for the fusion of the rooms that the jams are connected to. In fact, I’m completely sure that ruby and sapphire each have their own individual rooms, in which neither of them have seen.
I think they just carved it in to the mountain. The arms of the temple aren't hollow so it couldn't have been formed in the way you mentioned unless they added the arms and hands later on.
If every fusion steven did with the crystal gems examples: Obsidian, Smoky Quartz, Rainbow Quartz and Sunstone, rose did too so does that mean theres a
smoky quartz 1.0, Obsidian 1.0 and Sunstone 1.0

I Have a Theory My Theory is That Rose and the gems (including young amethyst)Fused together and They Faught the white diamond robot,and when they knew they we`re gonna lose,Obsidian(rose) Sat on the island Vomited lava allover her self and they wait for the lava to cool and they Defused,While they were inside the white diamond robot left because they think that they surrender.Welp Thats My Theory i hope you like it 😃
The broken arms aren't hollow wich wouldn't be possible if it was made by Obsidian unfusing while having hardened lava on her.
Though the Rebellion ended, some 100 years or 30 years like the 1990s in the steven year, they found amethyst and then in the 2000’s she evolved in which making the temple. And also forming obsidian
Since she was made all out of lava,probably turned her whole body into stone, except the center part.

My thing about this is if they did construct the temple this way why isnt the arms hollow as well the arms are solid plus the temple lines up perfectly with the mountain giving me mount rushmore vibes, but in all honesty i think its a mixture of both
The Obsidian carving was made with the four gems fusing. They used the fire breath to make an imprint of the body onto the cliff making them able to carve out the statue. It cant be lava because If Steven upgraded the fire breath then that is my full theiry.
