Who exactly were 'the fallen' and is it possible that it was their dying wish to be used in suits of armor to aid their friends during the crystal gem rebellion?

Those don't look like gem armor. l think they were the armor of humans that fought and died in the war,cause l think at some point someone said that humans fought too.

Didn’t Greg mention in the season 1 finale that a lot of humans died in the war? Maybe just in the crossfire or maybe humans actually fought with the crystal gems to defend their home.
While not proven, I think that the Watermelon Stevens battling Malachite in SWI was meant to mimic what humans allied with the Crystal Gems did in the rebellion. When extinction was the penalty for failure, I would think that Rose Quartz would have little problem in recruiting humans to fight alongside her forces.

I always thought it was the "people" of the war Greg referenced in The Return.
I'd think that Gems do need armor in battle, since they can be poofed with swords, battle-axes, spears, rocks, etc., leaving their gemstone open to being smashed.
If gems don’t need armor why does bismuth wear it and make it?
The "fallen" would indicate that the owners of the armor were deceased. The candidates are:
1. Crystal Gems whose gemstones were destroyed during battle with Homeworld loyalists, and their armor preserved as both memorials and as a reserve
2. Human allies of the Crystal Gems who died in action against Homeworld (implied by Greg's words to Steven in The Return, and possibly paralleled by the Watermelon Stevens fighting Malachite)
3. Human warriors of the post-Rebellion era, who'd somehow earned Rose Quartz's admiration
Humans wouldn't have had the technology to create plate armor for at least a few thousand years after the end of the Crystal Gem rebellion, and not of this sophistication and variety for a few thousand years more. So, either these were Gem-created before and during the rebellion, or made by humans only in the past millennium. I think much more likely that these are Gem-made, since probably only Rose Quartz would care about collecting human armor, and her items would have been kept either in the pocket dimension or her junkyard. Additionally, Gem armor would have been deemed useful by Pearl, and readily agree with Rose keeping them safe against a possible return of Homeworld, just like the Quartazine Trio of light cannons.
While it's possible that these suits were utilized by Gem shards as automatons, I'd have a couple of caveats against this being their exclusive use.
One, if the use of Gem shard automatons was proved to be self-defeating, then there's presumably be no need to keep armor suits in Rose's "secret" armory; they'd be tossed into the junkyard or some part of the Crystal Temple as basically useless except for sentimental value. Two, Gems' hard-light bodies can be poofed as easily as human bodies can be fatally damaged, so it makes sense that at least some Gem warriors would wear protection in battle, and consequently the use of Gem armor would not be restricted to automatons.
I thought the armor of the fallen was rose friends who were humans we know how rose loved humans but she found out that they had died in the war

I just noticed that the armor with the red hood kinda looks like what Connie wore at Stevens special pink room o.O
I figured they belonged to some human friends of Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond who joined her in some battles that came long after the Gem War.
I think the Fallen is one of the many elements introduced early on that either where never meant to go anywhere or got out right dropped.
Maybe her past lovers? The armors look cross cultural.

I don't think gems wore the armor, I think they were worn by humans throughout history of the war that Rose encountered. Maybe past love interests. Why would they be kept secret? They would've probably been in the temple then unless they were fallen human soldiers. Rose would've felt bad/guilty for them falling in war for her and her mission. This was probably her way of paying respects.
I saw a cool comic that headcanonned that the armor of the fallen belonged to Rose’s past “Lovers”

Ok... so a few questions regarding this theory (if ya dont mind)
1. How would one defeat such a warrior? (In cases of them turning on their commanders, for example)
2. How would the shard's tell who their side is (Because Rose would've fought against some of the gems she (as Pink Diamond) created for taking over earth. Maybe she would've used some of their shards for the suits? And who would they be loyal to, Pink or Rose (yes, same person, but could the shards distinguish that?)
3. What happened to the shards? Are they in the temple? What caused them to be "retired"?
4. Pearl said only she knew about Rose's armory (except for lion, obviously). Is this another secret Rose and Pearl kept from the Crystal Gems? Do they not know about the armor and shards? Maybe that's why they're hidden in her armory where only she (and now Steven) could access?
Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just generally interested! I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts! ^^
the crystal gems actually mention they dont find some of the shattered gems, thus the mutants and the cluster. however he makes a fair point as the gems DID NOT use the shattered gem idea because the rest were apparently "buried".both pieces of information was found on the same episode around episode 15 series 2 where steven and garnet go find the barrels containing mutants origanally.

Nah, i think this are just humans armor. After all humans did fight side by side with CG in Gem War, and Pearl have learned "knight" concept from them. And we see knight's armor there
Wow, this is actually a really good theory! It’s way more interesting than they just being armor the belonged to fallen humans and/or gems
The fallen are a race commonly seen on the planet earth in the games, Destiny, and Destiny 2. The fallen contains different houses, which vary greatly. An example of these Houses are the House of Wolves, House of Judgement, House of Dusk, House of Rain, etc. The ranking system in these Houses go like this, Kell, Captain, Vandal, Shank and Dreg are on the same level.
You assume that only gems fought in the Gem war. However in one of the episode where Garnet was explaining the gem war to Steven ( I believe it may have been “Serious Steven”) Garnet says that “Countless gems and Humans list their lives”. If I remember what Garnet said correctly, it would mean that humans also fought along slide the crystal gems.
In the episode with the “Armor of the Fallen” it would seem that the armor could have been foraged by humans since gems don’t really wear armor. I’ve always assumed that they’re were the armor of the fallen humans who gave there lives to fight for their planet and the Freemason of gems who rebelled against homeworld. It just seemed like a more meaningful reason( something Rebecca Sugar would do) than for the armor to belong to Gems.

Those sets of armor look ages old, and clearly either made by humans of their era, or at least crafted in that style. I don't think they belonged to gems, who are dramatically more diverse in size, body type and general form. Also against the 'they're the armor of shattered gems' theory, we can assume many of the Crystal Gem soldiers were some sort of quartz, who are, to emphasize, usually pretty massive.

I was thinking more along the lines of the suits of humans who helped the crystal gems defend Earth this was the armor of the most skilled or honorable human soldiers
Maybe Rose had many human lovers throughout history- explaining the human history and cultural diversity. Maybe she kept the suits to remember them?
I believe that the Armor of the Fallen are from Humans that Rose must have had a friendship. Which is why she had a connection with the guy that met her on the desert when he was dying. When he saw her walking with Lions

Feels like the Gem Shards used to possess stiff and the Armor of the Fallen are seperate concepts.
The armor seem to be that of humans. Like, no real openings to accommodate for gems either on like 80% of possible gem placements.
Edit: though... Bismuth's armor doesn't either. But it could be just because she doesn't need to summon a weapon.
I always wondered why Steven didn't get the gem shards and drops them in some diamond essence or something and let them connect to each other and become the gem they once were
What's interesting about this theory is that it shows how the Cluster could have become normalized. First they utilized gem shards as furnishing around homeworld, then as drone soldiers, and finally as gem mutants and the bioweapon Cluster.
This is nice and all but we need a Lapis and Peridot fusion

Interesting theory. I just thought the armor of the fallen belonged to ancient humans that helped the Crystal gems during the gem war that died.
Why haven’t we explained about the giant penny in Rose Quartz room?
They might be armor worn by lovers of Rose or previous friends of hers after the Gem War
More ideas in the series with no exposition or will never be addressed in Future honestly.
Maybe the bubbles gem shards from season one the pearl was checking up on were the shards the brought the suits to life

It might just be me looking into this a bit too shallowly, but what if the Armor of the fallen are just pieces of Armor that belonged to humans who rose had bonded with?

I like this theory. Whenever I bring this stuff up, people insist that it’s not canon anymore because the story wasn’t fully formed and I just... That’s so unsatisfying
As you can see on 1:06 far left is clearly samurai era armor the 2 in the middel are clearly knight armor (possible european) and the far right i have no idea
But waht we can all agree on is that humans did take part in the war
But why roze has these types of armor stored here i have a few theories
1: these armor's were worn by high ranking warriors during the battle
2: these armor's belong to the humans who did something big during battles ore something else and died for it for example (leading armys, ore they were top notch fighters, teaching rebel gems strategies, sword handeling, etc.)
3: these were the only humans joining roze rebellion for the sake of earth.
4: these armor's were provided to bismuth to construct prototypes but i highly doubt this theory

My believe is that rose revived humans that died and those went on to help during the war
weird thought, but what if its a mixture of a armor inhabited by shattered gems and armor used by humans that fought alongside the crystal gem's
What if the shattered remains of the gem are used as a power source that allowed the human to fight with the same amount f power a gem would be able to wield during the war.
what makes me believe this is the fact that gems are capable of being used to operate machinery as a sort of power source and the humans aren't anywhere capable of harming a gem as seen when Ronaldo attacked pearl.

Bismuths armor also predates the actual existence of armor. Like many things in Steven's world, it would seem that the human version was actually inspired by the gem version.
