Over the years I’ve come back to watch this video probably 3 times, it’s a great looking watch and I think it holds up to most watched I’ve obsessed with over time. I think going against it is, it’s not an every day watch, -at the same time this is why I appreciate the watch so much. I wish the edges were at least a little bit beveled, those sharp corners make me nervous.
Beautiful piece and great video. I bought my first German timepiece earlier this year and I have to say that the quality of the piece is simple yet it’s so well put together. They honestly know what they’re doing when they make watches or anything in general.
+1 on doing the wrist shot without the white gloves. The bare hand is more aesthetically pleasing and more importantly, gives a much more accurate indication of how this thing is going to look as it'll actually be worn.
I’ve been to their headquarters. Really friendly, down to earth staff. Picked my 90 years anniversary edition Flieger 40 and got it sent to me 6 weeks later. Stunning watch, great little company, reasonable pricing. Love them. Already browsing their Bauhaus collection...
When did your intros become that epic? I used to skip them to get to the content faster, but man, that step up in quality is really noticeable. Keep it up!
Nice to see, that you managed to do a review of the Seatime! I like the review as much as the one you did of the Flieger. I bought both the Flieger no date / no logo and the Seatime Prodiver to the birth of my sons. We live in the city where STOWA had a movement factory. That was the initial motivation behind the buy to celebrate the birth of the first members of our family as citizen in this city by birth. Both are outstanding watches.
I love Stowa, it's a great brand. But as a diver, I must say that this watch has a big flaw and that is the lack of numbers in the rotating bezel. When you are under the water it is very important to time how much time you spend at certain depths in order to calculate decompression times. Nowadays this is done with the dive computer but some of us like to rely on decompression dive tables as well and for that, you need a watch with a numbered bezel. I don't understand why would Stowa make a dive watch without that feature... Just my two cents.
Fantastic to hear Jim, I really enjoyed that watch show too. Sorry I didn't get to meet you! Glad to hear you love the brand too. Thank you Jim, Best regards, TGV
love the chiselled look of that watch and how the second hand has lume along the entire length. another one to add to the ever expanding list . as usual excellent episode.thank you
The Stowa Prodiver is perfect! At 42 mm it says, man watch, with great wrist presence! The Prodiver has the best bang for the buck, I am adding another to my collection.
To be fair, we should remember that most of the diver's watches we admire and acquire are basically jewelry for us, good for a swim in the pool or walking Bond-like ***out*** of transparent Caribbean waters (and then keeping track of how long one has been drinking martinis). Diving generally involves being in a murky environment. When I scuba dive, I want the largest diameter watch I can get so that the hands are as big as possible. Lumi doesn't work after a few minutes, so the best way to read a watch when diving is with a flashlight (torch). But there are so many diver's to choose from and such stunning designs that I suggest we should simply keep admiring and lusting after them without worrying too much about the depth rating. Enjoy your Holidays TGV. And thank you for another year of exciting horological explorations.
Thanks for introducing us to this watch and - at least to me - this manufacturer. This is a very striking and original looking watch. The image at 5:53 is a breathtaking view!
Great video, as usual! Just wanted to note that comparing the Stowa Seatime to the Sinn U1 is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. The Seatime is a casual dive watch-more like a Sinn 104, which is comparable in price and features. Stowa doesn't make any hardcore dive watches currently, whereas the Sinn dive watch line are purpose-built and diverse in offering. Both houses are great in their own rights, but can't really be compared when it comes to dive watches. I do believe that, for the most part, they both target an overlapping, but different market.
Thank you for a informative and interesting video, TGV! It's very valuable to get a review of a certain model from a watch company, as well as the history regarding that company.
I absolutely adore that Fortis you are wearing!!! I wish they still made it! The 42 mm is alright, but doesn't warrant me spending my money on it! The only 42 mm watch I like are divers.
HAHA I had actually contacted Stowa for you to review this exact same watch for the giveaway and they basically just said, "Yep, we're already in contact with TGV. Thanks, though." Was wondering when this would finally be posted!
One of our local watch guys brought a Stowa Pro Diver to one of our get togethers. Very cool watch - along with the impression of quality the other thing I noticed was just how sharp the case edges were. I wondered if they'd cut, they were so sharp! As for Stowa in general, my favorites in their lines are the deck watch/marine chronometer models. Good review. Ciao, John
Love how clean and simple the face looks, while still looking completely unique. Not sure that it would look right on my fat wrists after wearing a 48mm citizen for so long though
Haha, perfect timing! Fun film, I hope you enjoyed it. I almost decided to use music from that film, when for Crimson Tide in the end. Thank you Flynn Best regards, TGV
You have the ability to hype any watch.... I know i hate the aesthetic of this watch but because of the merits you point out I think wow what a cool watch....
What can I say, I adore watches with all my heart, there is never a watch, no matter how good or bad I can not learn or take inspiration from. Thank you. Best regards, TGV
+The Urban Gentry Maybe you could do a video about watches for non watch people. E.g a watch that is cost effective while being perfect for a runner ( cheap chronometer that is easily washed so it doesn't acquire the dreaded funk) Or a watch that exudes class for a job interview A field watch for a soldier that is purely for its utility... ( as a soldier I'd love to see this...) i usually wear my seiko snk809 in the field because of its simplicity, reliability and disposability but I Can see the merit of a digital watch with things like altimeters for a military purpose ( altitude vastly affects fuel consumption on our equipment as well as the power generated by our generators...) But I'd to see your special use case watch recommendations for non watch people.( everyone starts somewhere)
Well done TGV! In response to your request for feedback from owners of this watch; I purchased the Prodiver Blue Limited earlier this year & customized it with the optional bronze bezel. Stunning combination. Couple observations: I agree Stowa bezels have a tiny bit of slop. But, of the divers I’ve used, the individual clicks of the Stowa bezel have the most solid snap. And the grip of its coin edge is unmatched IMHO. Also, well spotted with the form factor comparison to the Samurai. Held side by side, the lugs turn in and drop down at nearly identical angles. I like them both. But for diving I prefer the Stowa. I never have to go round twice with the 60 click bezel. ;-) Happy holidays man.
Hi TGV Love the simplicity of this one. Rough & tough but in a “brutal” way all most elegant in it’s masculine, military appeal. Cooool... Normally I’m not much into titanium with the exception of the Breitling Flightmaster. But here’s a new boy in town. Sadly it would wear too big for me too, although my Seamaster has roughly the same diameter. Comparing with your videos with the SKS, the Seamaster etc it becomes obvious how big this really wears. In my next life I will hopefully be a much bigger man🤣 Keep up the good work👍
Stupendous intro as always. Between these and the pilot watches you got me crazy; shall i ever click on an aviation-related video of yours and witness real WW2 aviation footage followed by a review of a real watch used by any pseudo-high command of either the RAF or the Luftwaffe, i will indoubtedly fall into a paroxysm and just pass out.
I think the dial design is fantastic. Case great if it grabs you but the dial so good, I hope they produce another version, same dial but different case
Like it a lot, but love Sinn too. Had an itchy trigger finger on the wonderful Marine original but sadly never pressed it. Just got the Aquis which I'm over the moon with but do love a diver. One day but the Sinn would be first I think. Great review as always. Merry Christmas good sir.
German watchmaking is superb. Love that Seatime model, specially the limette (lima green dial). Thanks so much for this wonderful review and Merry Christmas Sir TGV!
Great review of Stowa if you continue on the German watch trend try to do Hanhart watches. I first saw them when I went to Basel World in 2008. Also if you head to London please do another video from Fortnum and Masons I love that place and make it a place to visit when I am in London. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
You have your priorities right sir! Best of luck and I am sure that collage will get you to somewhere where you can have all the watches you want, onwards and upwards. Best regards, TGV
I see some similarities to the Seiko 62 MAS case design, though the seiko has a smoother appearance compared to this boxy design. I like the design of this dial and really liked the lume (especially the lumed second hand!). Thanks for bringing this to us.
I am German and love German watches . They are so well made and really robust . Anyways , I really love watching your videos and enjoy every minute of it . I wrote a comment with a few questions for you under your last video . Would really love an answer of yours. Please leep up your good work , your good charakter , your happiness and your aspiritaion to be a Gentleman . Best wishes and regards from Germany ! V.A.B.
Thank you as always for the inspirational comment You should be very proud of your nations watches! Sorry, I must of missed your questions. I will look for it shortly, bear with me. If I forget, please email me at: theurbangentry@gmail.com I hope I can help you, Best regards, TGV
Great review, yet again! Btw, you should take a lighter to your zulu to clean up those frays. I've done it several times and it works like a charm! Love that Fortis
Very true, now you mention it Kyle! Excellent observation, bI expect nothing less from a person with such a sharp eye for detail like you. Thank you my friend. Best regards, TGV P..s Forgive btw, I have to email you soon!
The Laco Seven Seas has 300 meters water resistance and is about $1500. Used by German armed forces. The Sinn U2 and UX are both much better, if a bit more money.
Like I stated in the video, I could not agree more. But I still have yet to find anything under that price that can compete with the Stowa. Thank you Richard, Best regards, TGV
Your watch reminds me of the mid evil vaults and if you look at your watch the outline is like a key hole like they made a long time ago take a peek and let me know if you agree.the big key that are hollow in the middle.great vid.
The strap is a Bonetto Cinturini 300L, it cost about 40$ online...if price difference is small, get the one with the bracelet and buy the strap elsewhere. You won't get the stowa logo though!
Stowa.. If you're reading this, please make a 39mm version. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
absolutely this
agree
100%! 39mm please!
I'll throw my money at Stowa if it came in 39mm
exactly, cushion case like this wears like a 44mm + watch.
Over the years I’ve come back to watch this video probably 3 times, it’s a great looking watch and I think it holds up to most watched I’ve obsessed with over time. I think going against it is, it’s not an every day watch, -at the same time this is why I appreciate the watch so much.

Thank you for the review. It's unbelivable that theres no proper reviews of this beauty. Germans really make innovative pieces
Before I started watching your channel, l had no idea that Germans made such incredible time pieces. TGV you’re awesome!
Thank you Jay, you have no idea how much that please me to hear!
Best regards,
TGV
We Germans, made much of the best Watches.
In 2020, still best review for Stowa!!!
I’ve been to their headquarters. Really friendly, down to earth staff. Picked my 90 years anniversary edition Flieger 40 and got it sent to me 6 weeks later. Stunning watch, great little company, reasonable pricing. Love them. Already browsing their Bauhaus collection...
Great to see another Stowa on the channel TGV! Seems ages ago I sent the Flieger in :)
When did your intros become that epic? I used to skip them to get to the content faster, but man, that step up in quality is really noticeable. Keep it up!
Haha, very kind, it certainly has taken a few years but most importantly, a real love for the subject.
Thank you Ragnar,
Best regards,
TGV
TGV is the master of intros..
Thank you very much Ahmed :D
Best regards,
TGV
Ahmed Attar He absolutely is. I'm already well and truly entertained by the time the intro is over.
Excellent video. This watch is very appealing and even from the screen we can"feel" the quality of it. The intro is the cherry on the cake. Bravo.
I love Stowa, it's a great brand. But as a diver, I must say that this watch has a big flaw and that is the lack of numbers in the rotating bezel. Thank you for sharing,

To be fair, they have different bezels with full markings following the iso criteria.
Keep up the great work TGV. I have spent much of the past couple of weeks going through your back catalogues. Inspirational
Thank you so much Richard, very much appreciated.
Best regards,
TGV
Man that fortis is absolutely stunning! Every time I see it I get that “feeling” I must must try to own one in this life time!
One of my favorite brands! I also met Jorg at the watch fair in Chelsea Market. Nice guy. We talked about the history of the marine watch.
Fantastic to hear Jim, I really enjoyed that watch show too. Sorry I didn't get to meet you!
Glad to hear you love the brand too.
Thank you Jim,
Best regards,
TGV
The Watchbuys Roadshow was great also. I got caught up in the Trump fiasco that morning but it was worth it. That giant table of Sinn! Oh man!
Your intros are always absolutely breathtaking!
I love everything that Stowa offers - fantastic design team, everything is clearly very considered
love the chiselled look of that watch and how the second hand has lume along the entire length. another one to add to the ever expanding list . as usual excellent episode.thank you
Thank you so much sir! Very well observed on the second hand, so true.
Best regards,
TGV
The Stowa Prodiver is perfect! At 42 mm it says, man watch, with great wrist presence! The Prodiver has the best bang for the buck, I am adding another to my collection.
Nice, but on the large side. Not enough mid size divers out there. However, what a great company , going to go and browse their website now!
Just had a great experience with their customer service, I purchased the Marine 36 and I’m just waiting for it to ship
@@bruce000000070000000 Indeed, their customer service is top notch!

Beautiful looking watch! I love the reviews you do with the history and all. I'm getting to know horology through you. :)

This in 39-40mm would be an Instant buy. Stowa hear my prayer.
We need more hand-wound pieces and sub-41mm sizes! The man-watch interaction is key.

Love that gunmetal blasted titanium case and the clean dial.
That 1938 bronze chrono is stunning.
If it were 300 euros cheaper I would have instantly bought it.
Great! A TGV video. Top notch, as always.
Very interesting look and case design! Would also love to see a smaller size. Fantastic review as always, TGV!
The new intros are next level.
Thank you sir! :D

Just got my seiko skx007 today. Loving it waiting for a nato strap!
Thank you Mark, I totally get it when it comes to Sinn and the Aquis, well I am sure you know that by now ;-)

GREAT INTRO!!!
Beautiful!!
My favorite part of the watch, the case. As you said quite a military look going on, it’s very rugged and looks like a field watch
Very true, now you mention it Kyle!

Thank you for supporting German watches! You should come in summer when Stowa hopefully does the hiking event. Last year it was wonderful!
And here I was convinced that my next piece was going to be a dress watch!
Lovely watch! Really looks beautiful, but that size tho, too big for my 6,5 inch wrist :(. And as usual a fantastic review TGV!
Stunning watch!
The strap is a Bonetto Cinturini 300L, it cost about 40$ online...if price difference is small, get the one with the bracelet and buy the strap elsewhere. You won't get the stowa logo though!
