Watch enthusiasts, Dive watches rock and are significant to horology. Great video. History- In 1961, the U.S. Navy began buying civilian dive watches as advances in dive tech had made the Canteen Watch essentially obsolete. Even if some dive watches gained popularity as luxury watches ( Submariner) they were tool watches first. One of my cousins dives with a Sea Dweller and another with a Casio Frogman. The one using a Sea Dweller is a Commercial Diver and the other is a police diver. My dad repaired watches and considered the Seiko Tuna as the best.
And strikingly Sinn is the less expensive of all divers featured here, with all this engineering, high tech and highest quality materials involved into its build.
Great job! Truly fascinating topic. I would be very interesting to know how many of each of these models are being used for their intended purpose and by whom.
Great video, awesome watches, especially the Tuna (I am a Seiko fan(boy), can't help it). p.s. Too bad there aren't any microbrands in this selection, H2O/Helberg has Kalmar 2 which comes in 3000m and 6000m variants, and is half the price of the cheapest watch here.
Another outstanding video, Armand, thank you. The only watch that came to mind as having been 'missing', if even only in terms of a mention as to why it would NOT have been on this list, is a high WR Doxa. Thank you, again.
Armand another great review of an interesting segment of horology. The ball threw me for a real loop. That's one tough looking tool. Sinn - no frills boiling things down to pure simplicity in style. Both cool looking pieces.
The Vostok should be in this list for the fact of their price and novel engineering since 1967. One was recently pressure tested to 400 meters before failing on a watch that is under 100.00. These watches in the video are in the thousands. A Vostok diver can pick a different watch for every dive and still have money to spare
+EMKWAN REVIEWS: Thank you very much for the kind words. Your videos give a brilliant variety whilst I found your comments on the RUclips shooting extremely tactful.
You all probably dont care but does someone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Rene Ford Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Nicely described Armand. I have a Seiko baby tuna ..it's a mechanical, springs and cogs automatic ....it's only a 200m diver ..i've never even had it in the shower. It turns heads though ..i prefer bigger tool watch / dive watches. I bought a flighty recently ..and for me it's too small ..and I'm a smaller framed guy at that . Great show and info as always. Thank you.
Fantastic as usual Armand. A real education, alas most of the people that buy these technical marvels will never even see water. Been honest I think I would have a problem immersing a 9k Rolex in the salty ocean!
If you buy a serious tool watch like a Rolex Deepsea, you are certainly a tool if you don’t use it for what it was designed for. It’s jolly bad form to have scratches and dents on a Breguet, it’s a sign of a real man that his Rolex carries the scars of battle...
I bought the Ball Deepquest recently. A very very stylish large gorgeous looking watch. I love it A real head turner watch would look good on James Bond.
Thanks. Very nice watchs. On the Sinn, how expensive is it to change a battery and one would think that it would have to go back to Sinn because of the oil? Please let us know.
+Robert Woods: That's a very good question. According to the Sinn website, the UX battery is only changed during a full overhaul or service (I assume due to the oil). This should be every 7 years or so and costs 220 Euros.
I currently have Deep blue ref 126660 but thinking to switch to ploprof titanium gold because of the light weight. Dblue is too heavy. Some complain that a diver watch should not have a display back. That's very subjective. Roger Dubuis was the first diver watch with it and it entirely depends on whether a movement with its design and finish is smth to behold or not. P.S. Seiko Tuna is an amazing deal given gold and technology.
And the irony is no deep dive professional has ever worn any of these watches. Either they wear nothing and take the time from the guys up top or they wear a $50 G-Shock.
These pieces are only relevant for a select few divers that work on oil rigs and breathe helium gas mixtures. I wonder how many of these divers actually buy these watches? I recently watched a documentary about deep sea oil rig divers and I noticed that one of them was wearing a Squale.
You should look at the Bell&Ross Hydrochallenger, 11100m, same principle as the Sinn and as "cheap", however not on the market and not easy to find (I got one). The later model, the Hydromax should be easier to find.
can someone find out if the the green letter "DEEP SEA" are painted green from the exact green batch of paint they used on the submarine. Because that would be AMAZING. or is it just a close color combination
Once you service it, is there any chance to keep the original WR ? I ask this because I might buy the Sinn, I think the watch is gorgeous....but once you changes the battery, what after concerning WR ? This subject is not spoken enough imho. How to keep the WR ?
a watch is about accuracy, precision. Apart from the Sinn Ux all the rest fail to comply with their purpose of being losing time and in a month;s period nobody knows what time is it anymore with the mechanical watches.......Adding the 5000m of the movement and it'ss other features, the last in line Sinn UX I "d say it's the first in choice.
Really not a big Quartz fan but Sinns simple ingenious solution and the uncluttered aesthetically pleasing case (plus a GSG9 logo for the mil geeks - although Einsatzzeitmesser has a def Nazi ring to it) make it my favourite. And then there is the PloProf. Nothing will ever be like a PloProf. Have fun times :)
Even passing the desk, air & nitrox divers (40m or tad more) through to trimix tech diving (60m or tad more), or even extreme (100m generally about does it; nb about where killer whales call it a day), 12,000m ?
Too bad no serious/deep divers use watches anymore... Kind of makes this whole thing useless. Plus, pretty much all of you guys doing dive watch reviews have never even snorkeled so your comments are pretty hilarious.
Who really can afford to buy the majority of watches shown here......I am not a poor bloke but some of the items here are the price of a good second hand car! Forgive me if I sound like a grumpy git but.............

Love my Omega Planet Ocean. "Only" 600m water resistance.....but more than I will ever need in the shallow end of the pool. And looks awesome!
Sinn hands down the winner for me! interesting vid, thank you 👍👍
Yup, that Sinn was fascinating. 13mm, 5000m WR, no glare ever. Very, very cool.
And strikingly Sinn is the less expensive of all divers featured here, with all this engineering, high tech and highest quality materials involved into its build.
Краш-тест: фейковый ДжиШок не хуже оригинала. ruclips.net/video/rdZhUqpfCQ4/видео.html
The Sinn is a super beast!! What an amazing brand from top to bottom. None of the hype all of the performance!
Blancpain fifty fathoms was the first diver with a bezel and it’s weird how you don’t know of the X FATHOMS?
Bought the Sinn UX in 2014, a superb watch. Only drawback is expensive service, about 250 £, and it seems to be easy to scratch the ar coating.
250 is cheap for a service dude. Aps can cost 4-7k to service
@@antonhallergren588 AP is in a totally different league, and price range.... Sinn UX is good, but still a quarts watch.
that Sinn UX is quite cool indeed
Great job! Truly fascinating topic. I would be very interesting to know how many of each of these models are being used for their intended purpose and by whom.

Boris Radulovic the Seiko Tuna is impressive.
Interesting video Armand, what dive watch do you wear? Thanks...Tony
You finally got it correct by just saying out!
I like the Sinn best! The Tuna was second.
Well researched and delivered. Subbed! Another unsung hero is the Girard-perregaux Sea Hawk- 1000m, HEV, in-house and haute horlogerie to boot!
Doxa should have an honourable mention, first watch to use a Helium Escape Valve in the 1960's
Another outstanding video, Armand, thank you. The only watch that came to mind as having been 'missing', if even only in terms of a mention as to why it would NOT have been on this list, is a high WR Doxa. Thank you, again.
Thank you Armand, another great watch review. Great to meet you at the P&C evening. Noel Murphy
+Noel Murphy: It was my absolute pleasure, do feel free to email about any queries or simply to talk watches!

Have to admit the Rolex Sea Dweller Deepsea is the most elegant design as dive watches go.
Another interesting video 👏🏾 love and enjoy your content.
+EMKWAN REVIEWS: Thank you very much for the kind words. Your videos give a brilliant variety whilst I found your comments on the RUclips shooting extremely tactful.
Armand The Watch Guy many thanks! Are you on instagram by any chance?
You all probably dont care but does someone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?

@Conrad Johnathan Instablaster :)
@Rene Ford Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm.

It's a SINN not to include the U1
Nicely described Armand. I have a Seiko baby tuna ..it's a mechanical, springs and cogs automatic ....it's only a 200m diver ..i've never even had it in the shower. Amazing, Armand. Your videos never cease to impress me.
Fantastic as usual Armand. A real education, alas most of the people that buy these technical marvels will never even see water. Been honest I think I would have a problem immersing a 9k Rolex in the salty ocean!
Mark Playford
I do it all the time. Doesn't hurt them a bit.
get off my lawn, I'm very glad to hear that. Just me been a wuss then?!

Another fantastic video Armand! Keep up the great work!
What’s the Lume like on the Sinn? GREAT VIDEO!
One of the best Vids .... Thank you
Why did you not include the Bremont Supermarine S2000? … it’s a 2000 meter dive watch! This list NEEDs updating.

Lol that's true casio is still the most bang of the buck hahahahah
Yup including cave divers lol british divers in thai cave rescue were wearing basic g shocks 😂
The saturated Divers make massive coin; they can wear what they want.
These pieces are only relevant for a select few divers that work on oil rigs and breathe helium gas mixtures. I wonder how many of these divers actually buy these watches? I recently watched a documentary about deep sea oil rig divers and I noticed that one of them was wearing a Squale.
Agree on your list 100%. Sinn is all about functionality and nothing about aesthetics. For that reason I wear a Sinn as an every day carry (EDC).
The Sinn is at the top of my shortlist.
Another informative video. Thanks Armand
What are your thoughts on a Doxa?
You should look at the Bell&Ross Hydrochallenger, 11100m, same principle as the Sinn and as "cheap", however not on the market and not easy to find (I got one). The later model, the Hydromax should be easier to find.
Fantastic video as always!👍👍
I know quartz watches are accurate and rugged, but I am biased against them.
did anyone already try tested for the ball watch hydrocarbon deep quest dive into the sea??? can i know more bout the quality of deep quest? thanks
Another excellent video. Really good subject matter and content. Cheers 👍
Quartz is the way to go for reliability and longevity.
I wish they would get rid of date functionality on dive watches
No you need to know how many years youve been underwater
Rafael De La Vega underrated reply. You deserved a like.
In my opinion, the Orient's M-force beast is the best and most beautiful diver's watch.
can someone find out if the the green letter "DEEP SEA" are painted green from the exact green batch of paint they used on the submarine. Because that would be AMAZING. or is it just a close color combination
Stellar presentation.
I do not why Squale is almost never mentioned. Deep rating 1000 meters, beautiful watch aesthetically, a tank in operation. Weird
Armand is a Squale fan though as revealed from his other vids.
Squale won't even service their own watch... that is weird.
You forgot to mention the new Bell and Ross bro3 92 diver watch its super baddass.
Have to hand it to Omega. They understand visual dynamics.
Excellent job! I have the darth tuna sbbn025 quartz! So awesome!!
Nice video. I really enjoyed it.
Great video as always, keep it up!
Once you service it, is there any chance to keep the original WR ?
I ask this because I might buy the Sinn, I think the watch is gorgeous....but once you changes the battery, what after concerning WR ?
This subject is not spoken enough imho. How to keep the WR ?
as I know, Sinn will also check the WR while changing the battery - thats perfect!
I hate an exhibition back in a professional watch like the ploprof.
What about the Breitling super ocean steel fish?
sea wolf
Great detail! Love it!
Sinn is the only one I would trust with my life.
Happy with my seiko prospex spb453 Black fantastic watch
What is the service interval on the Sinn? I don’t like the tick tick motion of quartz..otherwise it doesn’t bother me.
Yes, it is interesting engineering solution, but what should I do if I just need to change battery? Send it to Germany?
TopSecretVid The battery lasts about 7 years, but it needs to be sent back to Germany to be changed, which takes about 6-8 months.
Shawn B at what price? Not saying it isn't "worth " But what a hassle if you live out of the country. Shipping alone is pricey.
TopSecretVid it costs €220
Sitting here with my Casio 200m quartz diver and thought it is a tough one
It is because no one is ever going to dive beyond 100m with those watches.
Breitling Superocean2 44mm 2000m
Oris Prodiver 1000m
Hamilton Frogman 46mm 1000m
Citizen Promaster Marine Professional Diver 1000m
Bell&Ross Hydromax 11100m.
Check out the H2O Ten Mile...
Well done. You did your homework.
Absolutely Sinn!
What kind of seals and o rings does James Cameron use that allow him to go as deep as the Rolex?
Need more lume shots.
I think it’s hilarious you might describe a sat diver as careless.
Incredible that the cheapest is the best. Is this a first?
The Omega Ploprof is not the perfect dive watch due to the glass case back. A dive watch shouldn't hava a clear caseback.
What a bunch of nonsense 🤣
a watch is about accuracy, precision.
A Seiko for over $2,000!! No thanks! Another decent one is Reactor 1000M watch. It's only @ 1,400$ for the mechanical.
Hublot oceanographic 4000 should be here
Zelos Abyss: 3,000 meters for under $1K.
Hi Bernard, do you know Zelos? What's their quality? Thanks
EXTREME DIVE WATCH: ORIENT OS-300 Saturation Diver. It is EXTREME!
love them, built like tanks. rated 300m but easily pass that I recon.
I so enjoyed the history.
-Jonathane
So can I wear one while I take a shower?
Casio Duro eats them all.
excellent
I can't do quartz, the ticking annoys me
I have the UX. No ticking noise. Fantastic watch and best in this group IMO when you combine daily usability and engineering.
The Sea-Dweller is by far the sexiest looking IMO

I have a sinn ux and i have never seen one that cheap.... maybe it’s because im in America
CX Swiss Military 20,000 ft
No Vostok Amphibia?
You left out the omega seamaster planet ocean
where is super ocean ?
No H2O Kalmar 2 10 miles or 25000mtr…. So the world record holder you don’t include….
WOW Yum I like
Seapro scuba dragon watch!
Have fun times :)
all watches would be great to have but that Ball watch might be just to big for most people.
Sinn...damn.
Even passing the desk, air & nitrox divers (40m or tad more) through to trimix tech diving (60m or tad more), or even extreme (100m generally about does it; nb about where killer whales call it a day), 12,000m ?
I will never trust a watch with a sapphire back for a dive watch why would Omega bow to the Gods of fashion and put that junk... never mind
Same watches you had been keep talking about through ages.
Squale 🦈
Too bad no serious/deep divers use watches anymore... Kind of makes this whole thing useless. Plus, pretty much all of you guys doing dive watch reviews have never even snorkeled so your comments are pretty hilarious.
