I have been an avid diver for over 40 years. I can think of absolutely no reason to have a 90 click bezel. At that price, it might not be a deal breaker. The watch is beautiful and has great specs. Nice review Jody!😍

Interesting reading some comments. I think we are a bit spoilt these days with the quality, value and the creative design micro brands are capable of producing these days. The bar has truly been raised and puts quite a few big brands to shame.

I never really considered kickstarter/micro-brand watches until you started reviewing all these wonderful pieces which are amazing value. Thanks for bringing a breeze of fresh air on the tube, which was starting to get a little repetitive across all watch channels: one would always see the same top 10 watches under 500$, 200$, etc etc.

I really appreciate the no-date dial. I don’t think vintage-aesthetic dive watches should include it because it ruins the dial symmetry. Two of the better affordable examples are Steinhart’s vintage military and the new Chris Ward C65 vintage diver. On the high end the Longines heritage skin diver is another good example. Vintage is the hot look right now in desk divers. These pieces are not tool watches; there’s plenty of choices in that category. This is a niche all it’s own. That said, I think more brands will loose the date or at least give you the option like Phoebus. This is a real sleeper; thanks for sharing.

I went to their site and bought an Atlanticus Diver which suited my tastes a little better. If it's anywhere near as good as the Odyssea I'm sure I'll be thrilled. Thanks for the video, and yea, micro brands are killing it these days. If you do a bit of research and can step a bit outside of the mold you can find pieces that are much more interesting than what's offered in local shops.

Thanks for the review/introducing me to this watch! Went ahead and purchased it. Had it for about a month. I must say I love almost everything about it. I love the way it looks, it keeps great time and boasts great specs. This is my first saphire crystal watch I love it. I took it swimming in the ocean for a week and it passed with flying colors. When the sunburst dial hits the sun/light just right? Ohh man this watch is BEAUTIFUL. My only two gripes: no day/date and the 90 click unidirectional bezel.
I would like to finish with saying I highly recommend this watch! At this price point, with these specs, im fairly confident your not going to find better!

I'm on an economy drive at the moment, or else I would seriously consider one. I didn't think of it during the review but the people criticising the company and watch name choices have a point. They've built a piece that would appeal to a WIS but they've named it to appeal to the Joe Average fashion watch buyer. They should have just thought up a name during a daily commute like the man who came up with Rolex did; out of thin air.
I've got no problem with the Superocean Heritage style bezel scale some people don't like. In this day and age practically no automatic diver is going on with a wetsuit, underwater. That job went to G-Shocks and Sunntos. It's good enough to judge heating a pizza or timing how long you'll be waiting for a train.
If you've got the spare cash and a vacancy for a new automatic diver style watch it would be an excellent choice.
I've been really warming to Arabic numeralled divers, of late. Like for modding ideas, etc. The Glycine Combat looks fabulous and the dial on this is reminiscent of an Orient Mako or a Longines Hydroconquest but with better balance without the date.
What a great way of going 'off-Seiko' (like off-piste) it would be!

You really should review the Nautis divers. For a lower retail than this you get a chrono diver with a 200 meter water resistant watch in your choice of colors with a sapphire Chrystal screw down crown that is its own design. At this time they make only two models, the chrono and a non chrono that is considerably less expensive. These watches are built like an Abrams tank. They are quartz but I think they are a real value!

Beautiful watch. Looks far more expensive than $300. I don’t mind a NH35 at this price point if the rest of the watch is quality (which this one is). Just wish the size was scaled down a bit. If this was a 40x13x47 I’d be all over it 💸

These watches that pop up on kickstarter makes me scratch my head hard at the more mainstream watch brands for offering less watch for the money as far as quality of bracelets, case finishings, and clasps go!
The exception I'd make to that are for some Victorinox watches that take a deep price drop on amazon. You should try some out!

  • @Mike-nh3be
    @Mike-nh3be 6 лет назад +1

The size, colour and movement are all good but no date... not even an option to have a date model plus they charge an additional fee for delivery (to Australia at least). I think the Phoibos Wavemaster is a better deal at almost a $100.00 less when you take into account delivery charges and that has a date option, sapphire crystal, seiko movement and ceramic bezel. I also think the Dan Henry 1970 is also better value at about $70.00 less and has the option of 40mm or 44mm sizes although it is a compressor style vintage inspired watch. The coin style case back on the Dan Henry is very similar to the Richard LeGrand which I think is a good thing. Perhaps they are from the same factory. The Chinese made microbrands are certainly churning out some nice looking watches but the prices are getting up there noting how cheap the movement is (US $35.00) and that sapphire crystals are not that expensive now. Credit to Alson Lee from Singapore who developed the watch through kickstarter though, I think this is still a fine effort and if it were US $250.00 it would be a winner.
PS I also love the shirt, 10 out of 10 there.

Nice watch specs wise. The Name "Richard LeGrand" is off putting, has zero cool factor and sounds like a $30 fashion watch brand. Same with the "Odyssea" cutesy play on words model name. It's like some clueless marketing hack is in change of naming and branding. Spelling out "Richard LeGrand" on the clasp lengthwise also looks cheap and super cheesy. In looking at the Kickstarter website it's obvious it was chosen by the Singapore manufacturer because they wanted a "classy" sounding English language name.
Re design it's ticking all the right boxes for hardware but there's something oddly generic about the styling. It sounds strange but aesthetically the watch has (IMO) no real "flair" or voice other than the neat caseback design which is the main bit of cool on the watch. Comparing it to the Helm Vanuatu the LeGrand is a similar start up style watch but there is a bit of appealing "different" overbuilt aesthetic to the Helm. It's more than the sum of it's parts. The LeGrand is just the sum of it's parts which is OK as the specs are a great deal for the money but the generic styling and awful naming (brand and model) are off putting.

Can see where are you pointing at, however this is sort of personnal opinion, I would guess half people would agree, half people would have the same feeling with JacquesLeMans, and would be true. But to negate the quality offer based on the name, which subjectively does not ring up your bell, is little bit too much. Same goes to Odyssey. Yes it is often used word. As dozen of others making appeal all around for years. The key is elsewhere.

Not everybodies cup of tea (and therefor perfect for your channel ;) ). I have mine now for a year and I'm super happy. Conversation starter and nice to look at (my model is a Slow Jo 3 but I sometimes change it to a brown-leather, epic as well...). Company is based in Hamburg, Germany, watch is swiss made though. Wow, after reading thu some of these responses, I don't understand what these people are doing looking at watch information sights. I mean , the some people don't want to spend 100$ on a watch. Also the spending that much money on a useless material thing. I mean I guess I would be angry to if I could not afford a 60$ watch. Maybe some of these people could stick it out a little and go for there GED. Then you start to feel better about oneself and then go for an associate degree. The next thing you know your like wow that watch that I can now afford is really nice and that thing I thought was just a material thing does have a purpose, it tells the time and since I now have a job it's probably best I get there on time. Now the world is my oyster and ,hey wait I really liked that Rolex oyster day date and now that I've learned to read better and understand what goes into an nice automatic watch I just might get me one. It doesn't have to be made out of gold, just a nice stainless steel would be great.

Does this look better than the Tisell Submariner homage? Although the Tisell get's the better movement - Miyota 9105, and slightly cheaper...

I presume you have to pay VAT and duty to get these into the UK?

They probably didnt add minute markers on the bezel and kept it no date for aesthetic purposes, mainly symmetry.

Hey! What's your opinion about the citizen Nh8350 range? Do you think it's a better alternative to the Orient Bambino?
