My longest ever video! Phew. Took me bloody ages! I decided that I had reviewed so many cracking watches at or under $50 that I could go to a Top 10 this year. As I keep saying, if you can't or don't want to, you really don't need to spend more than a fifty to get a great watch on your wrist. As this list of 10 proves. Hi Jody i have a Seiko with a 7S26 I have owned it for 18years and it has never been opened and after all this time it works exactly as it did at new , the Swiss boys are put to shame in someway by Seiko 👌
Doesnt matter is 7s26. That being said, when it bites the dust u could probably just buy a new one for like $20

Have the Guanqin myself on a bond nato, and a Seiko snk8. Also owned 2 Vostok Amphibias. There’s no one better on RUclips when it comes to affordable pieces than Jody!
What do you think about the Guanqin? Is good quality compare to the snk for example?
I gotta tell you that your channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites and I've already loaded up my 2019 list of watches to buy with a bunch of your suggestions. I love that you're down to Earth and not a watch snob. I myself would rather have a wide variety of watches to pick from than 2 or 3 really expensive watches to alternate through. Awesome collection of watches near $50 dollars. Of course I love the green Seiko 5 and I own one. The Casio with the seal strap looked fantastic! I'm not into the digital watches too much but the last Casio wasn't bad. I also bought one of the Vostok watches. Love that as well. Nice variety Jody.

I ended up buying a Casio Duro as a result of your old video and TGV raving about it and was not disappointed. Not the easiest watch to find in the UK hence why I ended up importing from the U.S.A. but worth the inconvenience. I wear it on the apparently unfashionable Casio metal bracelet but it's my "go to" beater and appears pretty much indestructible. I also have the Seiko 5 SNK which is an unbelievable watch for the money. Love the channel and please keep going on the cheap Chinese watch vids!
Just found your channel. Of all of the watch channels RUclips dropped on me after I did a search on a watch I was interested in, yours is the only one I subscribed to. Ive always been interested in Ali Express but always too leary of buying anything there. You make it look promising. Nice channel.
YESSSS! This is the type of video that got me hooked on your channel! I'm looking for a G-Shock 5600 as my next purchase. I'll say having owned both Casios and Timexes, I'll go Casio all day. My Timex field watch lost its seal and fogged up after a dunk in the pool, without ever opening the case! My fav all time budget Casio is the now discontinued W-71. I don't know why they don't still make it. Unlike the often talked about F-91W, it shows the day and date with month. It's a much better look IMHO. And 10 bucks! Keep it up Jody, love your stuff.

It was love at first sight: the Wenger Field Classic, brown dial blue numbers. Yet, every time I watch your videos and want one it is nowhere to be found. I've searched for hours and come to the conclusion that they only made one such item and it was scarfed up immediately. Thanks, Jody, I had to settle for a bottle of Scotch daily since.

I work in a hospital boiler room and before this I worked in the engine room of a US Navy ship. Most common watches we wore were Casio or Timex. Timex analogs match my style taste and price. Digital I can go for either Casio or Timex. They have some dress up digitals and some rugged sports digitals. While visiting Odessa Ukraine in 1995 I bought a Vostok. It worked well but I no longer have it. Fell into hard times after leaving the Navy and pawned off that watch.

Because of your hunest reviews, I trust you and when you recommend a watch I'm going to buy it depends on the budget and do I like it or not , or do I have similar one or not. Keep going. your doing a great job.
The only thing (It was not big deal but) I couldn't use discount code on gear best for guanqin, at the end when I wanted to pay it was a section for coupon. I entered the code but nothing happened. so I bought it without discount.
Anyway, I'm super happy and can't wait to wear them 😊😊
I'm an archaeologist and do a lot of fieldwork. I have a number of mechanical field watches (including SKX007 and Vostok Amphibia) but the SNK809 lives on my wrist due to its perfect size, recessed crown at 4, bracelet and day/date complications. I love my SKX but the SNK trumps it as an everyday practical field watch, as I don't notice it is there until I need it.
I love these budget videos! Some nice beater watches as well as some classy dress items. Keep up the watch hunt.

I love the Duro, when I bought I no idea of it's popularity. Mine is on a Nato as the original strap split.

Which one do you feel punches above the other.. The Guanqin or Starking?
I wish Casio would expand the Duro line just a bit a bet that they would be wildly popular.
They need a mini Duro IMHO, maybe 40mm. 44mm is a touch too big for me, and probably many others. We could call it 'Durito.' (little hard guy)
Agreed, a 40+mm automatic diver's 200m would be nice no fancier than the duro but maybe more tool, full brushed case etc..
Only if they improve the luminescence. I wore mine for a week, but was frustrated not being able to read the time in the dark. Anyone want to buy a cheap Duro?

I have the Guanqin. Bought it while I was watching your review of it. It’s lasted me years! Granted, it’s an occasional wear, but when I wear it, I’m not exactly babying it. I’ve smacked it against door frames and on my desk at work. Still holding up.

Just watched this Jody, I don’t want to sound like a snob as I personally wouldn’t buy any of these but it’s nice to know that;
1) There’s watches out there that are actually decent for £50
2) I’d definitely pick any one of these over any so called ‘fashion’ watches e.g. Daniel Wellington.
3) It’s nice to know that there’s a RUclipsr out there than can review anything from Omega to a Chinese watch.
Why wouldn't you buy one of these? I'm new to the watch community but what specifically don't you like about these?

Watched while wearing my Timex Expedition. Love your throw away references. Hope you take your towel next time you pop down to the pub. Hope you can figure out a way to look at and compare movements and other aspects of the watch like you started with the lume comparison. Not totally sure how, but then you're the expert.
I own the wenger with a black dial and the dw5600, a Seiko is also in my collection. I purchase a Timex weekender every time I see them on offer £30 or under, not purchased a Chrono version yet but it looks very nice

Outstanding video of great value watches! You really are highlighting the value to be had in Chinese automatics. I have resisted buying one because I already have a large watch collection that I find difficult to cycle through. But, as you channel suggests, there is always room for just one more watch :-)
For me the standouts on this list based on what I'd be most likely to wear would be the Casio Duro (How do they sell that for that price?), the G-shock, and the Vostok. I've seen these reviewed elsewhere. They are what you'd expect from a cheap Russian watch. They don't work great, but they don't work great forever. I'd get one just because it would make me smile wearing it.
Very good video - food for thought. Have to watch it again before I make my next buy :)

I bought the same Komandirskie you have after your review and really like it. I do have to say though, that the horrible strep is not so horrible. As a matter of fact is was ok when I first put it on. After that it got real comfortable. I like it on the stock strap better than the NATO. So all in all, the strap is pretty Damn good!
Yet again I am knocked on my arse, I mean who knew??? Not me but I sure do now. It’s 01:20 here in England and just binged on you (getting a little Carry On there) for a few hours and all the better for it!

I love all things Vostok. I've got five of those hand wind Komandirskies. The one shown with the KV tank is my favorite. I put a twist-flex band on it for the nostalgic look. A lot of pictures or video footage you see of the former Soviet Union shows the men wearing these watches with an expandable band on it, or just a plain bracelet.
Man, I would just love to grab a pint with you at a pub. So chill.
Looking forward to your review of the brass Vostok when you get it, I’d like to add something brass to my collection.
When I saw the notification I was already like "Oh no, in the end I will buy another watch..."
And the big suprise at number 10, my next modding victim and hopefully yours ;)
Btw. as far as I know they have brass-cases but they are always chromed (gold colored chrome like thing....) so it wont get any patina...BUT you can get rid of it by putting the case into acid for some minutes (really not a big thing)...with some work they can look awesome (and you can use all the amphibia parts (hands, bezel, dial...)

I remember the Starkings, they are STILL gorgeous in my opinion!!! And AUTOMATIC movement!!
A quick look on the Starking watch online with the Chinese movement shows they work well - if you get a good one. Otherwise, there could be major problems. Apparently the company has good customer service according to the reviews though, but it's still a time cost. The watch itself is nice though (looking at this video).
Based on another of Jody's videos, I got the white Cadisen C1032 from AliExpress.Took a week to arrive & cost me £36 in the September '19 sale only last week - thanks for pointing that out Just One More Watch. Excellent.
