I got my crestie from Tikisgeckos almost a year ago and she's amazing! I fond that she's a tiny bit skittish when I try to take her out of her cage but once she's out she's super calm and will sit on my shoulder for hours!
Awesome video giving me the confidence after owning my little guy for a month to start handling him he's probably a little bigger and the juvenile you guys had in the video and I can't lie you make it look effortless very relaxed
Thanks guys you uploaded this right before I took my first created out for the first time and it really helped me alot. Made me alot more confident to just go for it!
My gecko cayannes intermittently energetic, after 3 weeks shes now gone from wanting to always squirm away to now taking breaks when being handled , she still jumps and is lively but hese no longer skiddish. :)
@@TikisGeckos just braught it out of quarentine and into a 12 by 12 by 18 bioactive with 4 plant. and he went from being interesting to downright fascinating. He everywhere in that tank! Infact hebeven sits on giant leaves and uses coves. I tell you what. Bioactive makes it way more worth it! Rather than climing away from me though he sometimes tries to climb up to my shoulders ^_^ he gets around but its just a matter of patience.
but how do you pick one up? mine is a rescue and is skittish and he jerks at my hand and then runs away? i dunno how to "tame" him and its difficult to wait to let him jump to my hand.
Great videos guys. I think you generally covered everything. Only kinda random point- if they are really freaking out (more than normal!), get them back in their enclosure as they may drop their tail. But, you cannot cover everything right. Great video!
I just got my first female adult crested gecko from a reputable pet shop, however she jumped and the employee couldn’t catch her - she ended up on the hard floor. She is eating and drinking but I’m still worried. Do cresties take fall damage?
I just hatched 2 leopard geckos got any tips on caring for them I got a good setup for them both just any tips that you could share would be great thx in advanced (morph is high yellow striped )
I recently got 2 babies one came a frogbutt but the other has a tail still and I’m so nervous about holding it as my older boy lost his tail when we got him 😭
I am planning to get a pet for my 13th birthday and I’m still deciding whether I should get an abronia Graminea or a red eyed croc skink? What would you guys pick
I found my crested gecko in my back yard I live in Washington state so I know someone let it go it was very skittish and skinny now it's got some good weight on but still very skittish about handling. I try to only handle it when I have to clean the cage
I just got one and it really fast doesn’t let me grab it how do I get it attention and it a Dalmatian juvenile crested geico female it fast should I hold it when is fast what do they eat she not eating as much of you don’t mind me asking😅
hey, anybody got any advice here my crestie was like this as a baby but now its the polar opposite, it comes out at night but bites anything that moves, dosent grow much and bites from things like the diet, fingers and even my neck on multiple occasions
*Thanks for posting this video. My leopard gecko is VERY skittish I purchased you. I was wondering how to handle and tame the gecko. Thanks again.BTW I damned my leopard gecko Dracarys (a game of thrones reference since I don't know the sex yet.)*
So for adults that haven't been handled, if we try to handle them more often, will they tame out? What's the average time per week we should be trying to handle them? Mine is really skittish and scared. I got him from a kid that never handled him.
I’ve had my crestie since it was a baby and it’s now 10 months old and is usually so calm but it’s like it’s going through a phase of being crazy and keeps stalking my hands and fingers. It’s caught me twice now and whilst it doesn’t hurt, it’s annoying to handle at the moment 🤣 it’s not aggressive biting. There’s no defensive behaviour (no open mouths nor tail wagging), and it’s only after I feed insects usually. Is this normal?
Once its at least 5 months old, you can look on the underside of your gecko above the tail, for a sack of skin. Males have larger sacks then females do
Is it ok to handle my adult gecko if she is clicking and shaking her head at me? I am scared she is going to drop her tail if I handle her when she is doing that... which means I can rarely hold her!
I got two cresties from you guys a year ago and one is very skittish and the other one is really chill. I love them:)
Glad they are doing good! I always like the crazy ones haha
Do you still get to enjoy your skittish gecko?
That first tip is actually huge thanks!

Thank you !! We are happy to hear you are enjoying your gecko. They take a little bit to tame down
As a whole, Cresties are pretty chill! I love my girl Lilith! Great channel, awesome content!
Thank you Ashley

Great! sometimes they figure out you're not a predator lol
@@TikisGeckos yeah! Though he frequently licks me! Maybe HESE the predator! I mean the way he eats those dubias...

I have the same question! My rescue is skittish and shy aswell.
You should make a leachie care video and explain all the different types they come in

Good point! If they wiggle their tail it is a sign they are about to drop it. Thanks Wally
@@TikisGeckos Absolutely. You guys are the BEST! Great looking animals and TONS of great, educational info!

Nice my one gecko bites me alot probably cause I don't hold him as much but other one is chill thanks for the help and tips
Thanks guys this was very educational!
Awesome vid!! Do you guys (or anyone else) find gargoyles to be more handleable? Just curious.
I think gargoyles can be either super calm or bat shit crazy. lol Crested geckos are calmer on average I think.
yall the best
you the man !

I am planning to get a pet for my 13th birthday and I’m still deciding whether I should get an abronia Graminea or a red eyed croc skink?
What would you guys pick
Pick the one that you know more about and are sure you can take care of 😂
But red eyed crocodile skinks would be my pick *cough cough*
It looks like you would prompt the jump by touching the tail or back, after you noticed them loading the back legs. Is that what is happening?
Yes, good catch
I found my crested gecko in my back yard I live in Washington state so I know someone let it go it was very skittish and skinny now it's got some good weight on but still very skittish about handling. I try to only handle it when I have to clean the cage
Give it a week or two to settle in, then start handling it more to tame it
Another tip is that if your looking to get a crested gecko get a baby, babies are easier to teach to handle than adults

Yeah babies take a little while to tame down but it will get better soon

Handle them everyday at night for about 10-15 minutes, do this for around a week or so and they should tame a little.

My crested gecko is so chill when I hold him but he bit my little brother on the finger.
helpful! thank you :D
How do you know if your crestie is male or female?
Once its at least 5 months old, you can look on the underside of your gecko above the tail, for a sack of skin. Males have larger sacks then females do
Is it ok to handle my adult gecko if she is clicking and shaking her head at me? I am scared she is going to drop her tail if I handle her when she is doing that... which means I can rarely hold her!
Usually they do that when they're in breeding mode! you can still take her out as long as she's not freaking out too bad
I got a juvenile that's on me as soon as I open the enclosure very territorial I'll bet it's a Male
Before you handle it wait a week or two so it can settle into its enclosure also, bet its cute ❤😂
Ooooo noooo he jump to the floor hope he ight lol nice video though
