Best be careful with that statement! The statement is 100% true but some get offended by how it spoken and backbone behind it. We should never be offensive by our talk and by out walk but we should never water down anything their way to speak truth with out degrading or watering it down. I hear that statement and the Christian at the same time if being very offensive by their demeanor and their speech saying word and coming off the wrong way. Those of Satan will always, always take offense to the word of God no matter how gentle you say it. For only one will rule their lives. Either the god of this world of the God in heaven. So to correct, not some but all of Satan's followers will be offended, but hopefully some as I was can be saved from his clutches. But only the true word of God is going to save them. This message is so needed in the church today. We as ladies need to know that our dresswear tells a lot about who we are. I truly appreciate this message. It's now one of my favs.

This is excellent and much needed word for this time. It is gently spoken and covers some but not all of the motivation for modesty. Women can be completely "modest" and still be seeking to draw out illicit feelings from men. The women themselves are not in a healthy, and secure state. If they felt secure in Christ's love, they would not be seeking this kind of affirmation from men. Something can be very wrong in the heart of a person and people around them may have an idea that something is wrong, but they cannot believe that their good Christian friend would really be purposely doing something such as secretly cultivating and enjoying the attention of men (or women). This thing can even be hidden to the one who is doing it, because it is self-deception. CHRISTIAN LADIES, DOES HOW YOU DRESS CAUSE MEN TO LUST? -AND ARE YOU SECRETLY GLAD, BECAUSE IT VALIDATES YOU? Turn and go the other way now, because you will be held accountable for your actions. Ask God to give you a new perspective on beauty and be secure in your heavenly Father's affection. God is an artist and we're His art 🎨 therefore, when you embrace yourself, you embrace Him. The reason Adam and Eve immediately hated themselves after they sinned and covered themselves is because they, in sinning, turned away from God and therefore turned away from themselves since their bodies reflected God. God didn't give them clothes because He chose to and He was "covering us in His glory"; that entire context was telling us about how we fell out of His glory. Clothing only came into play when shame, brokenness, evil, and sin did meaning that it's a symbol of these things and the broken bond between God and man. Being ashamed of your image is being ashamed of God's and He didn't create us to be ashamed of His masterpiece and bury it down to where nobody can see it, He created us to display our art in a museum and be happy when someone gazes upon our beauty. That's why people like David, Esther and Isaiah all got elevated when they did this but Vashti, Micah and Isaiah's critics, who bashed them for it, got kicked to the curve. That's also why people today, who flaunt their bodies, make it big while those who bash them fade into nothing.*

Wonderfully said! Modesty should not offend you my sisters, it’s a form of worship! When you become new in Christ, he strips the world off and clothes you in righteousness and holiness. Jesus is not coming back to save those comfortably living in their sin, so no, you cannot continue to be/act/look like a harlot. And also, modest doesn’t mean boring, have fun with colors, patterns, styles, just cover up! I love you all!

The bottom line is that if you are serious about serving and living for God when the inside of you is cleaned up it will also clean up the outside. When you have the inside purified and the ouside cleaned up someone can see you on the street and Know that you could help them with any concerns or questions they may have about serving God or finding out who he really is. i love this Video. I;m a young Christian woman and have recently been led to write a piece on modesty... It a hard one. But a very important message. esp today where alot of woman in the world and church think less is more.

Thank you for posting this. I use to attend a very well known Church in Southern California area, where this was a big problem and for me, it was certainly a problem. However, no one seem to care or take the initiative to tell it like it is. By the same token, there are many other christian women, from different churches, that i wish they would here this message. The Bible calls for a virtuous woman to dress in beautiful flowing garments and be covered in modesty. It also calls for a woman to cover her hair while praying and prophesying to honor her head. Her head being either her father or husband if she is married, and also to honor Messiah and God.
I dress the way I do for my own self respect. I don't want to be leered at by men, but on the other hand I think men should be responsible for their own behaviour. Just how far can a man go in telling a woman what to wear? Some men will be turned on by the sight of a shoulder or even the form of a woman under her clothes.
I'm a Christian woman who loves clothes! :) I find it easy to find stylish, modest clothing. I don't value clothing above Jesus or my family...but put in its proper place, I don't think my appreciation for feminine things contradicts God's law. My husband. like most men, is a visual person. He deserves a wife who looks appealing (though I'm not a fashion model!), and I try to look nice out of love for him. God bless all my Christian sisters!

Tena Weyer my experience shows that women will be treated as property, sex objects, and less then man no matter her dress. women wearing burkas are raped daily, and then murdered for being raped because they somehow were responsible for the "honor" of the family being tarnished by the actions of a man. It isn't hard to treat another human with the respect owed a human no matter their dress. it is actually Christ like to treat other humans lovingly and with Grace no matter their dress or sin struggles.

Ungracious attitudes towards those who dress in ways you disagree with is one of the many reasons so many have been traumatized by church and by Christians. Causing them to leave the church. I know many people who love Jesus deeply who can't enter a church parking lot without a severe panic attack. Modesty is not black and white. It is as living, breathing and different as every person in the body of Christ. I'd be very careful about judging a person's relationship with the Lord on their dress. the Lord has different priorities with all of his children and there may be some amazing Christians out there that have struggles that the Lord has put as a higher priority than modesty and taking them one step at a time on their journey to Christ-likeness.
Yes. Men ARE responsible for our thoughts and behavior. However, if a man sees a woman half naked, it's his duty as a Christian to turn and go the other way. If he continues looking at her lustfully, he is sinning. The woman, on the other hand, is also sinning because she is tempting him. She is also sinning.
Yes: as born again Christians we should dress modestly: BUT: we also need to remember: that GOD meets us where we are at!!!! Being sanctified is a process and as no ones perfect: it’s best if we don’t judge others too harshly. I am learning to be less judgmental also.

i belonged to a "modern" SB Church and was raising my little daughter after my wife (she was 37) passed. It was the early 2000's and the fashion was low V-cut tops and short skirts....for a man trying to worship, it was really distracting... and most were married women whose husbands I knew in the church. I have tried to raise my daughter to be modest and humble to Jesus and she is! It truly is a miracle.

More true today than what it was 14 years ago, when this video was uploaded. With each generation, in our church, women seem to have yielded more to the lure Satan dangles before them. A few years ago I would not have thought that any woman in our church would have worn ballet tights as outerwear, covered by a crop top, crowned by a headful of purple hair and eyeshadow glitter. Nor to see them sing in the choir wearing bluejeans full of holes. I'm glad that the "fashion trend" of ladies wearing matching hats, gloves, shoes and handbags has passed. The same age that required all men to wear suits, felt hats, white shirts and ties to church. Far to much emphasis on "Sunday best" to impress others in the pew instead of humbly honoring God with clean overalls and a grateful heart. It seems that we've gone from one extreme to another. Gone from dress to impress in the 1960's to dress to solicit in 2023. (sigh) Another example of history repeating itself, as illustrated in the Scriptures. Use of fringes and embroidery are two examples of using to honor God or using to elevate oneself.
With great appreciation. It takes courage to say what she has said. A ccorrection and warning to all Christian women. Unfortunately we have no one at our church that are addressing this problem. Women on welcoming with very short skirts and their breasts showing, very long splits in their dresses and that horrible lycra gym wear, very short shorts. I dont know where to look and my husband is very uncomfortable and embarrassed. I dont tell anyone where l go to church, because lm ashamed of the way we look to the unconverted. We look worldly as a church, and thats just wrong as Christians.
Have you addressed the Pastor and his wife about this topic? If not, then why not? Have you considered looking for another church? There are church bodies out there that still adhere to modest dress.
People have, and it hasnt been continuing. Yes, we have found a small expository preaching church, wonderful hymns, respectful God honouring worship service, modest respecful dress code. We are going to start going there when my husband comes out of hospital. Just one point the hypocrisy, the ministers and mourners will go to a funeral dressed in a suit, appropriately dressed to show respect, but when it comes to Worship our Holy God people dress down in shorts t shirts, ripped jeans, greasy uncombed hair, tight revealing clothes. People will dress up for a human funeral but not toward their Holy God who died for their sins and saved them from eternal Hell.
I'm a very masculine Christian teen girl who loves her Savior. I do CrossFit, boxing, and swimming. I'm into guns, knives, and all things tactical. I almost never wear makeup and despise wearing dresses, my hair is buzzed off. I love being a woman, just not feminine (I'm not a lesbian or desire to be transgender). I'm going to join the Marine Corps next July and hopefully work in the newly open combat jobs. I wear masculine clothes: basketball shorts, hoodies, loose jeans, etc. I basically meet all the modesty standards in that my boobs are covered, my stomach is covered, and my figure is hidden. But I fail to meet the "feminine" standard. I struggle to balance being myself and trying not to give people the impression I'm trying to be a man. I wish Christian women (or Christians in general) reached out more to effeminate men and masculine women, instead of pretending we don't exist and leaving us in limbo. Many oddball, out of the box Christian teens think they are gay or trans for not being "normal" or like other Christian teens.

That was bad advice so let me give some better advice. One I want to say you're a 100% right. We are silent and we should not be. We are cowards whom do not want to hurt your feelings. My best advice for you is to find, if you can a bible reading, God fearing Christian. One who can speak truth and be unafraid. Also, read your bible daily. You will read of women in the bible whom do have feminine dress. Get to the point where you have a private time daily to pray to the Lord your God. Take sin seriously and remove it from your life. I guarantee your around some Christian in name only telling you we all sin and you will always sin. And to the bad advice you got a few months ago, you love God by Obeying God. And once you start dealing with God honestly and with a sincere heart He will hear you. And make that sin abhorrent to you. This coming from a former porn addict slash fornicator. I was using an example. I'm not talking about anyone specific. But I forgot that calling someone a name is judging. I thought I'd be describing but I realize it now. :/ Would the same be for calling someone Emo, Goth, skater, prep, etc? If so, I either forgot and realized or never thought of it. I am Christian. But I do admit that at times I fall short of the glory of God. Especially by accident. I am called to love all which is why I try to treat even gays nicely. Not because I have to.
I am modest but I don't have air conditioning and when I mow my yard I wear shorts and t shirt that I cut the sleeves off of. I would die of sweating if I didn't. But this is my yard in a quiet neighborhood. Maybe one or two cars driving on the street in three hours. Nothing hangs out, and I'm built like a popsicle stick. Don't think I entice anyone.

Amen, truly, truly. Being one who suffers with sexual immortality of the eye. I've grown strong enough to look away. But what is seen cannot be unseen, even in the peripheral. So I can look away, but the subconscious will bring it to the conscious, usely when most comfortable. Like, I work at Virginia Tech. University students dress, well, no explanation required really. So, I'm always either closing my eyes or looking away every few minutes. And sadly, sometimes i don't. But I respect their free will. However, when I'm at church, all women where long skirts, which has begun to change. I still never want to leave when I'm in the sanctuary, there's almost no other place I'd rather be.
The Bible, in context, supports this ladies message. It is true from the Christian perspective that we are the temple of God. There are two extremes mentioned in the Bible that have to do with the way we clothe ouselves in Public. Complete nakedness or being appropriately clothed relative to the situation. Robes are mentioned and represented as being a portrayal of righteousnes, but that can be done with the wrong motive. Some places of employment and in bars safety demands people be clothed.

And men today in 2021, wear tight, skinny jeans, and form fitting shirts in the pulpit. We can see the outline of their entire body, every nook amd cranny. If not in your church, it's in all the trendy megachurches and even in small churches now. .
John G. Paton was a missionary who evangelised a violent island where everyone, both men and woman, wear little to no clothing. In his book, The Story of John G. Paton or Thirty Years Among South Sea Cannibals, John G. Paton records this incident about a native man and woman who became Christians and then wanted to marry but feared they would be killed because there were a few men who wanted to marry the woman:

Paton felt it inappropriate to wear an emblem of violence to church)- and what on earth was I to do when the figure and costume of Yakin began to reveal itself marching in? The first visible difference betwixt a Heathen and a Christian is that the Christian wears some clothing, the Heathen wears none. I do agree with the message. Modesty is a heart posture that will display outwardly in ways as well as inwardly. However, I have to say that I'm not sure I agree that it is necessary to offer the option for the name of the man who confessed a weakness and previous struggle with pornography, and requested at the elder level that a discussion be had with women regarding attire. I don't feel that is proper to expose him by name. I'm not sure how that would be fruitful. Passing along the concerns and request should suffice.

True. As a woman, I think women think of modesty in relation to the very immodest apparel put there. So, they end up dressing mildly or moderately immodest. Some girls just don't know. I didn't as a teen. Wish someone would've been an example.

Is life about us??? We want our own way, who cares about others? Does the word not say, "I die daily to the flesh", how can we be fleshly and godly? Why all the rebellion about clothing? Bottom line what would Jesus want me to do here? You are either a follower of him or a fan of Him? Choose.
I have heard many times of Godly men going into bars and witnessing. Christ went into sinners houses and ate with them, he ministered to prostitutes. The point I was making was not concerning doing that, but that even bars have set standards for the way people dress. Some will not allow anyone in without a shirt nor allow women in who have on short shorts or very short skirts. Some Christians would be stopped from entering. That kind of clothing promotes problems among their patrons.

I would also urge Christians to call those "family" stores (like Wal-mart, etc) that carry immodest clothing and let them know you don't appreciate them carrying such items. (Can you imagine them selling the kind of shorts in the men's department that they have in the women's? No, they would never dare - they target girls and young ladies) (Note: do not call the local store, they do not get any say about what is sent/sold; call the main office)
@AnastasiaAlison They are related to your heart attitude. A modest woman wouldn't want to be wearing a skirt that may cause men to stumble. I know guys in my church who have struggles with lust issues, and are trying to overcome that. If a girl in church is wearing a short skirt and a low top, that may trip her brother in christ up. Not only is that immodest, but inconsiderate. Men KNOW we are women, they know we have curves and boobs, they don't need to see them.
We brothers don’t have to wait for a woman to say this. God used a man to write it, so surely men can speak to this, and it doesn’t even necessarily mean that a woman is best suited for this topic. God used a man to write it and to preach it. Paul told Titus to teach the older women to teach the younger women in Titus 2. So we brothers have authority on this area, actually even more authority than the sisters.
And as for as women wearing pants,and it pertaining to a man.the men in the bible wore skirts, and even carried a purse. Read Ruth3:9,Jeremiah13:22,Zep.1:7-9 ,and Matthew 10:10.Why did men change this,and can women now say that they are sinning! Where there is confusion there's ever evil work,God's no in confusion!

@TheVintage1950 I rather think you find that women are far more empowered nowadays, perhaps take a women's studies course, you may find it interesting, in particular the barrier's that women have had to overcome to achieve their freedoms that they have today ;) I'm also not slagging off women who dress modestly, merely those who preach they ought to dress modestly so as to please men who can't control themselves and blame women for it.

This is excellent and much needed word for this time. It is gently spoken and covers some but not all of the motivation for modesty.
Women can be completely "modest" and still be seeking to draw out illicit feelings from men. The women themselves are not in a healthy, and secure state. If they felt secure in Christ's love, they would not be seeking this kind of affirmation from men.
Something can be very wrong in the heart of a person and people around them may have an idea that something is wrong, but they cannot believe that their good Christian friend would really be purposely doing something such as secretly cultivating and enjoying the attention of men (or women).

i love this Video. I;m a young Christian woman and have recently been led to write a piece on modesty... It a hard one. But a very important message. esp today where alot of woman in the world and church think less is more.

Thank you for posting this. I use to attend a very well known Church in Southern California area, where this was a big problem and for me, it was certainly a problem. However, no one seem to care or take the initiative to tell it like it is. By the same token, there are many other christian women, from different churches, that i wish they would here this message. The Bible calls for a virtuous woman to dress in beautiful flowing garments and be covered in modesty. It also calls for a woman to cover her hair while praying and prophesying to honor her head. Her head being either her father or husband if she is married, and also to honor Messiah and God.

I dress the way I do for my own self respect. I don't want to be leered at by men, but on the other hand I think men should be responsible for their own behaviour. Just how far can a man go in telling a woman what to wear? Some men will be turned on by the sight of a shoulder or even the form of a woman under her clothes.
I'm a Christian woman who loves clothes! :) I find it easy to find stylish, modest clothing. I don't value clothing above Jesus or my family...but put in its proper place, I don't think my appreciation for feminine things contradicts God's law. My husband. like most men, is a visual person. He deserves a wife who looks appealing (though I'm not a fashion model!), and I try to look nice out of love for him. God bless all my Christian sisters!

i belonged to a "modern" SB Church and was raising my little daughter after my wife (she was 37) passed. It was the early 2000's and the fashion was low V-cut tops and short skirts....for a man trying to worship, it was really distracting... and most were married women whose husbands I knew in the church. I have tried to raise my daughter to be modest and humble to Jesus and she is! It truly is a miracle.

More true today than what it was 14 years ago, when this video was uploaded. With each generation, in our church, women seem to have yielded more to the lure Satan dangles before them. A few years ago I would not have thought that any woman in our church would have worn ballet tights as outerwear, covered by a crop top, crowned by a headful of purple hair and eyeshadow glitter. Nor to see them sing in the choir wearing bluejeans full of holes.
I'm glad that the "fashion trend" of ladies wearing matching hats, gloves, shoes and handbags has passed. The same age that required all men to wear suits, felt hats, white shirts and ties to church. Far to much emphasis on "Sunday best" to impress others in the pew instead of humbly honoring God with clean overalls and a grateful heart.
It seems that we've gone from one extreme to another. Gone from dress to impress in the 1960's to dress to solicit in 2023. (sigh) Another example of history repeating itself, as illustrated in the Scriptures. Use of fringes and embroidery are two examples of using to honor God or using to elevate oneself.

Unfortunately we have no one at our church that are addressing this problem. Women on welcoming with very short skirts and their breasts showing, very long splits in their dresses and that horrible lycra gym wear, very short shorts. I dont know where to look and my husband is very uncomfortable and embarrassed. I dont tell anyone where l go to church, because lm ashamed of the way we look to the unconverted. We look worldly as a church, and thats just wrong as Christians.
Have you addressed the Pastor and his wife about this topic? If not, then why not? Have you considered looking for another church? There are church bodies out there that still adhere to modest dress.

Yes, we have found a small expository preaching church, wonderful hymns, respectful God honouring worship service, modest respecful dress code. We are going to start going there when my husband comes out of hospital.
Just one point the hypocrisy, the ministers and mourners will go to a funeral dressed in a suit, appropriately dressed to show respect, but when it comes to Worship our Holy God people dress down in shorts t shirts, ripped jeans, greasy uncombed hair, tight revealing clothes. I'm a very masculine Christian teen girl who loves her Savior. I do CrossFit, boxing, and swimming. I'm into guns, knives, and all things tactical. I almost never wear makeup and despise wearing dresses, my hair is buzzed off. I love being a woman, just not feminine (I'm not a lesbian or desire to be transgender). I'm going to join the Marine Corps next July and hopefully work in the newly open combat jobs. I wear masculine clothes: basketball shorts, hoodies, loose jeans, etc. I basically meet all the modesty standards in that my boobs are covered, my stomach is covered, and my figure is hidden. But I fail to meet the "feminine" standard. I struggle to balance being myself and trying not to give people the impression I'm trying to be a man. I wish Christian women (or Christians in general) reached out more to effeminate men and masculine women, instead of pretending we don't exist and leaving us in limbo. Many oddball, out of the box Christian teens think they are gay or trans for not being "normal" or like other Christian teens.

I am modest but I don't have air conditioning and when I mow my yard I wear shorts and t shirt that I cut the sleeves off of. I would die of sweating if I didn't. But this is my yard in a quiet neighborhood. Maybe one or two cars driving on the street in three hours. Nothing hangs out, and I'm built like a popsicle stick. Don't think I entice anyone.

The Bible, in context, supports this ladies message. It is true from the Christian perspective that we are the temple of God. There are two extremes mentioned in the Bible that have to do with the way we clothe ouselves in Public. Complete nakedness or being appropriately clothed relative to the situation. Robes are mentioned and represented as being a portrayal of righteousnes, but that can be done with the wrong motive. Some places of employment and in bars safety demands people be clothed.

I do agree with the message. Modesty is a heart posture that will display outwardly in ways as well as inwardly. However, I have to say that I'm not sure I agree that it is necessary to offer the option for the name of the man who confessed a weakness and previous struggle with pornography, and requested at the elder level that a discussion be had with women regarding attire. I don't feel that is proper to expose him by name. I'm not sure how that would be fruitful. Passing along the concerns and request should suffice.

True. As a woman, I think women think of modesty in relation to the very immodest apparel put there. So, they end up dressing mildly or moderately immodest. Some girls just don't know. I didn't as a teen. Wish someone would've been an example.

Is life about us??? We want our own way, who cares about others? Does the word not say, "I die daily to the flesh", how can we be fleshly and godly? Why all the rebellion about clothing? Bottom line what would Jesus want me to do here? You are either a follower of him or a fan of Him? Choose.
I have heard many times of Godly men going into bars and witnessing. Christ went into sinners houses and ate with them, he ministered to prostitutes.
The point I was making was not concerning doing that, but that even bars have set standards for the way people dress. Some will not allow anyone in without a shirt nor allow women in who have on short shorts or very short skirts. Some Christians would be stopped from entering.
That kind of clothing promotes problems among their patrons.

I would also urge Christians to call those "family" stores (like Wal-mart, etc) that carry immodest clothing and let them know you don't appreciate them carrying such items. (Can you imagine them selling the kind of shorts in the men's department that they have in the women's? No, they would never dare - they target girls and young ladies)

@AnastasiaAlison They are related to your heart attitude. A modest woman wouldn't want to be wearing a skirt that may cause men to stumble. I know guys in my church who have struggles with lust issues, and are trying to overcome that. If a girl in church is wearing a short skirt and a low top, that may trip her brother in christ up. Not only is that immodest, but inconsiderate. Men KNOW we are women, they know we have curves and boobs, they don't need to see them.
We brothers don’t have to wait for a woman to say this. God used a man to write it, so surely men can speak to this, and it doesn’t even necessarily mean that a woman is best suited for this topic. God used a man to write it and to preach it. Paul told Titus to teach the older women to teach the younger women in Titus 2. So we brothers have authority on this area, actually even more authority than the sisters.
And as for as women wearing pants,and it pertaining to a man.the men in the bible wore skirts, and even carried a purse. Read Ruth3:9,Jeremiah13:22,Zep.1:7-9 ,and Matthew 10:10.Why did men change this,and can women now say that they are sinning! Where there is confusion there's ever evil work,God's no in confusion!
If a woman is a Christian, she should know it is possible for a woman to be dressed to kill some man's obedience to God. See the video called "What Women Want is Worship".

@TheVintage1950 I rather think you find that women are far more empowered nowadays, perhaps take a women's studies course, you may find it interesting, in particular the barrier's that women have had to overcome to achieve their freedoms that they have today ;) I'm also not slagging off women who dress modestly, merely those who preach they ought to dress modestly so as to please men who can't control themselves and blame women for it.
The only reason we are wearing clothes is because of sin. So there are no secret parts to a body. There are only parts that can cause someone to sin. Thats it.
