Since writing and posting this story, I'm adding our actual ages. I must have been closer to 63 and not 62. Anyway I am now 64, my husband is 60, my daughter is 43 and my stepdaughter's are now 26, 28, 32 and 35. And are soon to be celebrating our 25th Anniversary. I actually met my husband, when I was 8 months pregnant! I was on the train in San Francisco back in 1981. The father of my unborn and I had already parted ways and he was stationed in Germany. To make a long story short, after having my daughter ( Kevin' man I met on train) his grandma by coincidence became my child care provider. By then my daughter was 3 and I had never seen Kevin again, only random phone calls checking on me and my baby. One day, while I was picking up my daughter from child care at Miss Saunders house, and all of a sudden, I caught a glimpse of someone coming through her front door. Then I asked Miss Saunders, who is that, I think someone is in your house and she said, " oh that's probably my grandson" and I said I didn't know you had a grandson that lived here and she said "yes his name is Kevin" and I said Kevin? she instantly gave me the last name of the same Kevin that I met on the BART train almost 3 years prior, so her and I begin to talk and I said Ms Sanders that's the guy that I've been telling you about, but to be honest I could not remember his last name, until you said it. She said "oh my goodness, you must be the person that he's been telling me about for almost 3 years and saying that he met this really pretty pregnant and nice lady on the train and I'm going to marry her one day" Over the year's we had formed an amazing friendship and he became the father of 4 daughters, by two different women. Although neither of his relationships worked, he and I were always friends. So fast forward to 1999 he and I eloped when my daughter was 19. He and I have been married for 23 years and he always tells me how much he loves me and how much he needed me through life.. I was 39 and he was 35 the day we eloped, now I'm 62 and he's 58.... My daughter is 41 and my Stepdaughters are, 24 26, 30 and 33...what an awesome life, when stranger's cross paths

I realized this was the one area that was lacking with my last relationship. At first, it didn't seem like a big deal because the world was on lockdown from covid. Seriously, though, his family should have known I existed... I didn't realize till almost a year later, only my family knew about him.

Semantics matter in that instance. By adding the "I"...it takes ownership of the emotion and embodies it completely. I've had my boyfriend tell me both and if he never used the "I"...I'd be a bit wary, but what really makes my knees buckle is when he says I love you and adds my name at the end. He's not only owning it in that instance, but directing that focus on me even more. That gives it that extra dose of heart-melty goodness. I'm grateful that I have that again in my life after having it with my partner (and step-father to my 6 children) of 14 years who died suddenly 2 years ago to an extremely insidious and aggressive form of liver cancer. On our first date he told me he loved me and it scared me to death, but when he explained that he was about what he saw inside of me and he felt at peace saying it to me, I was floored. He follows those words with many actions. I am a military veteran who deals with physical pain a lot of the time and he’ll do the sweetest things like rub my legs, cook for me, protects me and is very chivalrous. He shows me I don’t have to be so tough anymore but he appreciates my strength. We have agreed to let the relationship grow and learn how to get out of our independent ways to learn to consider each other. O Wow! "I'm on the way" ... My boyfriend said this to me last week. I stayed at his house the night before as I do often. He works 3rd shift therefore going to the gym after work some mornings is his routine. This particular week we had contractors working on the house therefore he didn't go for 4 days because he knew I was uncomfortable with strange men in the house without him (something I mentioned in conversation when we first met). As Friday came along he went to the gym thinking they were done however they came by at 7am. I called my boyfriend immediately and his response was "I'm on the way" . My dad fell in love with my mom bc of the sports car she drove as he said lol. They had an amazing bond yet they never healed from their traumas of the past which caused them to fight and their addictions only made it worse. They were married for 25 years until my dad died and then my mother passed 9 years later. Both passed from cancer. I released at the age of 35 that healing is so tremendously important for so many reasons. I’ve changed so much since I started healing that it blows my mind sometimes. I realized at this age that my childhood traumas have caused me to fall for the red flags, try to fix the man and stay for way too long. I’ve been single for three years since I left my sociopathic narcissist husband of 6 years. I want and deserve real true love and I don’t mind waiting for God to bring him to me. You are right on. I was seeing a guy for several months. He kept saying "I miss you" and "I love you". But we lived a 2 hour distance up in mountains. He had issues with his car & finances. I broke my leg early October. He was supposed to come see me weeks ago. I waited for him all day and never showed up? Finally 6:45 pm, I sent him a message? He lied, he never attempted to drive up. He blew me off and lied to me. There were many issues between us. Age diff, distance, culture, language, his car,excuses, etc. He turned out to be a player type, BS'er. I quit work to be a stay at home mom. We both agreed to this. He took care of the bills but one day he came home and the house wasn’t as clean as he wanted it. He recommended polygamy as a resolution to my problem of not cleaning the house. He said that he expects too much from me and being that the house wasn’t cleaned, he wanted to “help” me by adding someone into our relationship. Every since that moment, I can’t look at him the same. What did I do so wrong to make him want to add someone to our relationship. So I got a job and it required me to get the covid vaccine. I’ve been with my man nearly 3 months. He travels in my state for his work. After a month of being together I told him that I feel so loved by him and he said you are very much loved by me. My partner said I love you first on our first date and for the first time in my life, I believe the true meaning of these words. He said he has no problem saying it because this is what he truly feels and he believes that there's no point in hiding his emotions. He is speaking the truth. I had an experience with a man who was a wonderful illusionist. His actions could make you feel as if you were the only woman in the world, but his words were a different story. I noticed it first in the way he introduced me. I made all sorts of excuses for him because his actions told a different story, but eventually he told me we couldn't continue our relationship because he wanted to do things with other women that I wouldn't like. Well said, I had Covid and my guy wanted to come and care for me even though I told him not to because I didn’t want to risk him getting sick. The fact that he would consider caring for me knowing I was sick, shows how he truly love someone. The problem with me, is that I tend to find good solid relationships with men who shows me love and affection but because I am not there mentally, I don’t value there love and tends to hurt them emotionally and push them away.

If I don't have my cancer pain meds for him he isn't there for me and having cancer and having no one really sucks and is very lonely and scary. I wish I could have found a good God fearing man before I found out I had cancer the end of January because maybe he would have loved me enough to be there with me during all of this.

They had their 72nd wedding anniversary 2 weeks before dad died. Mom followed him one week later.

Since writing and posting this story, I'm adding our actual ages. I must have been closer to 63 and not 62. Anyway I am now 64, my husband is 60, my daughter is 43 and my stepdaughter's are now 26, 28, 32 and 35.
And are soon to be celebrating our 25th Anniversary.
I actually met my husband, when I was 8 months pregnant! I was on the train in San Francisco back in 1981. The father of my unborn and I had already parted ways and he was stationed in Germany. To make a long story short, after having my daughter ( Kevin' man I met on train) his grandma by coincidence became my child care provider. By then my daughter was 3 and I had never seen Kevin again, only random phone calls checking on me and my baby. One day, while I was picking up my daughter from child care at Miss Saunders house, and all of a sudden, I caught a glimpse of someone coming through her front door. Then I asked Miss Saunders, who is that, I think someone is in your house and she said, " oh that's probably my grandson" and I said I didn't know you had a grandson that lived here and she said "yes his name is Kevin" and I said Kevin? she instantly gave me the last name of the same Kevin that I met on the BART train almost 3 years prior, so her and I begin to talk and I said Ms Sanders that's the guy that I've been telling you about, but to be honest I could not remember his last name, until you said it.
She said "oh my goodness, you must be the person that he's been telling me about for almost 3 years and saying that he met this really pretty pregnant and nice lady on the train and I'm going to marry her one day" Over the year's we had formed an amazing friendship and he became the father of 4 daughters, by two different women. Although neither of his relationships worked, he and I were always friends. So fast forward to 1999 he and I eloped when my daughter was 19. He and I have been married for 23 years and he always tells me how much he loves me and how much he needed me through life.. I was 39 and he was 35 the day we eloped, now I'm 62 and he's 58.... My daughter is 41 and my Stepdaughters are, 24 26, 30 and 33...what an awesome life, when stranger's cross paths

When a man deeply loves you - it’s only natural for him to say: “I’m on my way.” Actually, that’s how you would expect him to react or behave.
It makes perfect sense, because obviously he would not want anything bad to happen to you - he’s going to want to protect you - or rescue you, if is that what you need.
He’s not going to take a chance at potentially losing the person that he loves - because that to him would be unbearable if that were to happen!

This was triggering. I had a long marriage with a lot of narcissistic manipulation. One thing I've learned. Is someone who truly loves you, is dedicated to understanding you. The longer I was around him, the more I realized why I had stepped back. "Believe what a man shows you, not what he tells you," goes along with what you have written here. Narcissistic manipulation has blinded me for way too long and I am realizing that my intuition was right! I wasn't overthinking many of the things that set off alarms for me. I wasn't being nitpicky. It was really the wrong things all along for a guy who truly loves me to do/say/express. And now coming back to visit him, I find out he is talking 2-3 times a week with his ex-wife. I think I know my answer to should I stay or should I go. RUN!
I knew my husband was the one. Even now, we are still sending each other lovely text when we are at work. Been married 15 years this year. I have seen his vulnerable side a million times and him me. Also, if a man or woman consistently says "love you" or "love ya" instead of adding that "I"....it makes a difference. I completely understand that mindset he talks about. Semantics matter in that instance. By adding the "I"...it takes ownership of the emotion and embodies it completely. I've had my boyfriend tell me both and if he never used the "I"...I'd be a bit wary, but what really makes my knees buckle is when he says I love you and adds my name at the end. He's not only owning it in that instance, but directing that focus on me even more. That gives it that extra dose of heart-melty goodness.
I'm grateful that I have that again in my life after having it with my partner (and step-father to my 6 children) of 14 years who died suddenly 2 years ago to an extremely insidious and aggressive form of liver cancer. I've been blessed to have that sort of love again in my life. 💘

O Wow! "I'm on the way" ... My boyfriend said this to me last week. I stayed at his house the night before as I do often. He works 3rd shift therefore going to the gym after work some mornings is his routine. This particular week we had contractors working on the house therefore he didn't go for 4 days because he knew I was uncomfortable with strange men in the house without him (something I mentioned in conversation when we first met). As Friday came along he went to the gym thinking they were done however they came by at 7am. I called my boyfriend immediately and his response was "I'm on the way" . My dad fell in love with my mom bc of the sports car she drove as he said lol. They had an amazing bond yet they never healed from their traumas of the past which caused them to fight and their addictions only made it worse. After we had a first conflict, he said he loved me, which made me over the moon. I knew he hesitated to say the phrase. So I was so happy that he initiated the phrase.
After we had a conflict, we increased the amount of communication, we’ve made comfort and security. He told me that he loved to talk to me.
The conflict made us realize what we wanted from this relationship and I’m so glad that we have been working on to build a good relationship together.

I quit work to be a stay at home mom. We both agreed to this. He took care of the bills but one day he came home and the house wasn’t as clean as he wanted it. He recommended polygamy as a resolution to my problem of not cleaning the house. He said that he expects too much from me and being that the house wasn’t cleaned, he wanted to “help” me by adding someone into our relationship. @11940ful Me personally. I haven't come across that person. I have decided to put all that energy that I directed towards worrying about a man towards myself. I have realized that for me personally, the love and acceptance I was looking for was already with me. My faith in The Most High and also seeing myself the way he sees us. We are women who are worthy of genuine love. The first step is saying goodbye permanently to wishy washy, non-commital player types. Don't let exes come back. Start anew. I know we all hate it but we need to work on our self esteem and figure out why we wasted time on relationships that we knew were sub par. Make a promise to yourself that being alone ain't bad if you don't get the love you deserve from someone else. No one can love you better than yourself anyway. I may not have attracted the man I want but my new attitude has been repellent for unsavory types. I can do better by myself if the right person is not available.

When a man loves a woman it feels like he says, I'm here for you, through all situations, and he is not willing to risk making choices that will jeopardize the love he has established. When a man is deeply in love you can also see it through every consideration in his decisions. I’ve been with my man nearly 3 months. He travels in my state for his work. After a month of being together I told him that I feel so loved by him and he said you are very much loved by me. His body language has deepened with me. He’s introducing me to his friends and I him to my friends. He never wants me to return home. I’m emotionally vulnerable with him. We speak into the future together. He always wants me happy as well as my daughter. He’s a good man!! I feel fortunate.

My partner said I love you first on our first date and for the first time in my life, I believe the true meaning of these words. He said he has no problem saying it because this is what he truly feels and he believes that there's no point in hiding his emotions. Our first date was at a coffee shop and while talking he clearly said that he's found the one and he is not going anywhere.

He is speaking the truth. I had an experience with a man who was a wonderful illusionist. His actions could make you feel as if you were the only woman in the world, but his words were a different story. I noticed it first in the way he introduced me. I made all sorts of excuses for him because his actions told a different story, but eventually he told me we couldn't continue our relationship because he wanted to do things with other women that I wouldn't like. It was heartbreaking and devastating because I should have known better and cut it off much sooner and, in the process, had gotten very attached.
Well said, I had Covid and my guy wanted to come and care for me even though I told him not to because I didn’t want to risk him getting sick. The fact that he would consider caring for me knowing I was sick, shows how he truly love someone. The problem with me, is that I tend to find good solid relationships with men who shows me love and affection but because I am not there mentally, I don’t value there love and tends to hurt them emotionally and push them away.
So how can you get there mentally because that will be the solution. Men will try yes there some bad ones but if he's showing you all the good signs and you withhold that will only pull him away. Please come to a place of acceptance of your feelings and reciprocate it. You will see the difference. All the best.

I disagree. A man saying he loves you are words only when it's a long distance relationship. I've just had breast cancer surgery. I got no flowers, no cards, just the same old text mgs w/ emojis. Yet, I've given him multiple gifts, etc. I've always been a giving lady to family and friends. I'm over it. All the " I love yous", " I'm thinking of you", are a bunch of lies! I'm learning to love Father God and myself more!

One day my bf and I were discussing moving in together, he wants to get a house that’s closer to where I live (he’s about two hours away) and I can’t remember everything about the convo but something he said was something I’d never had anyone say to me and the impact it made, just wow. I legit teared up. He said “you gotta know that I’ll do anything for us.” I’ve been feeling for a while that he’s the one, but that absolutely sealed my faith and love in him.
